The aim of this study was to develop an improved thin sea ice thickness(SIT)retrieval algorithm in the Arctic Ocean from the Soil Moisture Ocean Salinity and Soil Moisture Active Passive L-band radiometer *** SIT retrieval algorithm was trained using the simulated SIT from the cumulative freezing degree days model during the freeze-up period over five carefully selected regions in the Beaufort,Chukchi,East Siberian,Laptev and Kara seas and utilized the microwave polarization ratio(PR)at incidence angle of 40°.The improvements of the proposed retrieval algorithm include the correction for the sea ice concentration impact,reliable reference SIT data over different representative regions of the Arctic Ocean and the utilization of microwave polarization ratio that is independent of ice *** relationship between the SIT and PR was found to be almost stable across the five selected *** SIT retrievals were then compared to other two ex.sting algorithms(i.e.,UH_SIT from the University of Hamburg and UB_SIT from the University of Bremen)and validated against independent SIT data obtained from moored upward looking sonars(ULS)and airborne electromagnetic(EM)induction *** results suggest that the proposed algorithm could achieve comparable accuracies to UH_SIT and UB_SIT with root mean square error(RMSE)being about 0.20 m when validating using ULS SIT data and outperformed the UH_SIT and UB_SIT with RMSE being about 0.21 m when validatng using EM SIT *** proposed algorithm can be used for thin sea ice thickness(x.liary data in the SIT retrieval procedure which makes its implementation more practical.

Bipolar membranes(BPMs)ex.ibit the unique capability to regulate the operating environment of electrochemical system through the water dissociation-combination ***,the industrial utilization of BPMs is limited by instability and serious energy *** current-induced membrane discharge(CIMD)at high-current conditions has a negative influence on the performance of anion-ex.hange membranes,but the underlying ion transport mechanisms in the BPMs remain ***,the CIMD-coupled Poisson-Nernst-Planck(PNP)equations are used to ex.lore the ion transport mechanisms in the BPMs for both reverse bias and forward bias at neutral and acid-base *** is demonstrated that the CIMD effect in the reverse-bias mode can be suppressed by enhancing the diffusive transport of salt counter-ions(Na^(+)and Cl^(−))into the BPMs,and that in the forward-bias mode with acid-base electrolytes can be suppressed by matching the transport rate of water counter-ions(H_(3)O^(+)and OH^(−)).Suppressing the CIMD can promote the water dissociation in the reverse-bias mode,as well as overcome the plateau of limiting current density and reduce the interfacial blockage of salt co-ions(Cl^(−))in the anion-ex.hange layer in the forward-bias mode with acid-base *** work highlights the importance of regulating ion crossover transport on improving the performance of BPMs.

OBJECTIVE:To elucidate the potential feature and mechanism of the caffeic acid 3,4-dihydrox.phenethyl ester(CADPE)molecule,which can prevent colorectal cancer(CRC)in the 1,2-Dimethylhydrazine(DMH)/dex.ran sodium sulphate(DSS)-induced mouse ***:Institute of cancer research(ICR)male mice were injected with 20 mg/kg DMH for a *** that,2%DSS was administered in the drinking water for another 7 *** CADPE treatment was given to the DMH/DSS induced male mice at three different periods until their *** ex.mination was used for observing the CRC development at colonic ***(IHC),blood cells smearing and crypt damage scoring methods were used for investigating the anti-inflammation feature of CADPE related to *** reversing targets searching method was applied with artificial intelligence(AI),computeraided drug designing(CADD)and Ingenuity Pathway Analysis(IPA)techniques for predicting the potential targets and mechanism of CADPE highly related to ***:The data indicated that CADPE inhibited CRC tumor development in the colitis-associated DMH/DSS induced mouse model after giving the early *** also impeded the acute inflammation by decreasing the infiltration of neutrophils significantly during the initial stage of CRC ***,our data showed that CADPE prevented CRC by blocking active sites of three pivotal protein targets including epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR),ex.racellular signal-regulated kinase(ERK)and mammalian target of rapamycin(m TOR)in two major cancer development ***:CADPE effectively prevented CRC at early stage of tumor germination in the DMH/DSS mouse model highly likely due to its anti-acute inflammation characteristic and the ability of blocking EGFR,ERK and m TOR activities in two highly related CRC developing pathways.

In this study,boron–magnesium agglomerates with varying mass ratios were prepared by drying a micron-sized boron–magnesium mix.d suspension,and the combustion process of these agglomerates under different ox.gen-rich concentrations were investigated using a laser ignition *** test results showed that when the mass fraction of magnesium powder in boron-magnesium agglomerates ex.eeded a certain threshold(between 2%and 5%),flame ex.inction and reignition occurred after a significant reduction in the agglomerate volume during *** process is referred to as the transient flameout process,which is affected by the magnesium content of the agglomerate and the ox.gen concentration in the ambient *** increase in the magnesium content or ox.gen concentration makes this phenomenon more *** weakening of the flame intensity,a dark film gradually covered the particle surfaces.x.ray diffraction and elemental analyses of the cross-section and outer surface of the condensed combustion product suggested that the dark film is primarily composed of Mg-B-O ternary *** film prevents direct contact between boron and ox.gen,thereby inhibiting surface and gas-phase reactions and leading to the occurrence of the transient flameout phenomenon.

Hydrothermal stability is crucial for the practical application of deNO_(x.catalyst on diesel vehicles,for the selective catalytic reduction of NO_(x.with NH_(3)(NH_(3)-SCR).SnO_(2)-based materials possess superior hydrothermal stability,which is attractive for the development of NH_(3)-SCR *** this work,a series of Ce-Nb/SnO_(2)catalysts,with Ce and Nb loading on SnO_(2)support,were prepared by impregnation *** was found that,the NH_(3)-SCR activities and hydrothermal stabilities of the Ce-Nb/SnO_(2)catalysts significantly varied with the impregnation sequences,and the Ce-Nb(f)/SnO_(2) catalyst that firstly impregnated Nb and then impregnated Ce ex.ibited the best *** characterization results revealed that CeNb(f)/SnO_(2)possessed appropriate acidity and redox.***,the strong synergistic effect between Nb and Sn species stabilized the structure and maintained the dispersion of acid *** study may provide a new understanding for the effect of impregnation sequence on activity and hydrothermal stability and a new environmental-friendly NH_(3)-SCR catalyst with potential applications for NO_(x.removal from diesel and hydrogenfueled engines.

Microorganisms are crucial in the bioremediation of organophosphorus pesticides. However, most functional microorganisms (> 99%) are yet to be cultivated. This study applied two cultivation-independent approaches, DNA-SIP and magnetic-nanoparticle mediated isolation (MMI), to identify the functional microorganisms in degrading dimethoate in agricultural soils. MMI identified five dimethoate degraders: Pseudomonas, Bacillus, Ramlibacter, Arthrobacter, and Rhodococcus, whereas DNA-SIP identified three dimethoate degraders: Ramlibacter, Arthrobacter, and Rhodococcus. Also, MMI showed higher resolution than DNA-SIP in identifying functional microorganisms. Two organic phosphohydrolase (OPH) genes: ophC2 and ophB, were involved in dimethoate metabolism, as revealed by DNA-SIP and MMI. The degradation products of dimethoate include omethoate, O,O,S-trimethyl thiophosphorothioate, N-methyl-2-sulfanylacetamide, O,O-diethyl S-hydrogen phosphorodithioate, O,O,O-trimethyl thiophosphate, O,O,S-trimethyl thiophosphorodithioate, and O,O,O-trimethyl phosphoric. This study emphasizes the feasibility of using SIP and MMI to ex.lore the functional dimethoate degraders, ex.anding our knowledge of microbial resources with cultivation-independent approaches.
