Endoplasmic reticulum stress and autophagy in cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury:PERK as a potential target for intervention

Several studies have shown that activation of unfolded protein response and endoplasmic reticulum(ER)stress plays a crucial role in severe cerebral ischemia/reperfusion *** occurs within hours after cerebral ischemia,but the relationship between ER stress and autophagy remains *** this study,we established experimental models using oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation in PC12 cells and primary neurons to simulate cerebral ischemia/reperfusion *** found that prolongation of oxygen-glucose deprivation activated the ER stress pathway protein kinase-like endoplasmic reticulum kinase(PERK)/eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2 subunit alpha(e IF2α)-activating transcription factor 4(ATF4)-C/EBP homologous protein(CHOP),increased neuronal apoptosis,and induced ***,inhibition of ER stress using inhibitors or by si RNA knockdown of the PERK gene significantly attenuated excessive autophagy and neuronal apoptosis,indicating an interaction between autophagy and ER stress and suggesting PERK as an essential target for regulating *** autophagy with chloroquine exacerbated ER stress-induced apoptosis,indicating that normal levels of autophagy play a protective role in neuronal injury following cerebral ischemia/reperfusion *** from this study indicate that cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury can trigger neuronal ER stress and promote autophagy,and suggest that PERK is a possible target for inhibiting excessive autophagy in cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury.

Characteristics of soil water repellency after sand dune stabilization in the Tengger Desert

Soil water repellency （SWR） is one of the most important physical properties of soils found all over the world, and it may have significant effects on the eco-hydrological processes of land ecosystems. In this study, the Capillary Rise Method was used to measure the SWR in the artificial vegetation area in Shapotou, located in the southeast area of the Tengger Desert, Ningxia Prov- ince of western China. The variation of the soil water repellency among different minor topographies, different depths and differ- ent particle sizes was analyzed. The results of the study indicate that the SWR shows distinct changes with vegetation restoration, and it increases with an increase in the period of dune stabilization. In the same vegetation area, the SWR of soils in inter-dune depressions or windward slopes is slightly greater than that in crest or leeward slopes. The SWR of 0-3 cm topsoil is significantly greater than that in the 3-6 cm soil layer. The SWR decreases with an increase in grain size and the differences among the SWRs of different sieved soil fractions are found to be significant. There is also a significantly positive correlation between the SWR and the proportion of soils with grain sizes of 0-0.05, 0.05-0.01 and 0.01-0.15 mm, and a significantly negative correlation between the SWR and the propotion of soils with grain sizes exceeding 0.15 mm. The increase of SWR in revegetation areas may depend on the continuous depositing of atmospheric dust on the stabilized dune surface as well as the formation of biological soil crusts, especially on the formation of algal and lichen crusts. Enhanced SWR influences the effectiveness of water use of sand plants in- habiting the sand dunes.

Oxalate modification enabled advanced phosphate removal of nZVI:In Situ formed surface ternary complex and altered multi-stage adsorption process

Nano zero-valent iron(nZVI)is a promising phosphate adsorbent for advanced phosphate ***,the rapid passivation of nZVI and the low activity of adsorption sites seriously limit its phosphate removal performance,accounting for its inapplicability to meet the emission criteria of 0.1 mg P/L *** this study,we report that the oxalate modification can inhibit the passivation of nZVI and alter the multi-stage phosphate adsorption mechanism by changing the adsorption *** expected,the stronger antipassivation ability of oxalate modified nZVI(OX-nZVI)strongly favored its phosphate ***,the oxalate modification endowed the surface Fe(III)sites with the lowest chemisorption energy and the fastest phosphate adsorption ability than the other adsorption sites,by in situ forming a Fe(III)-phosphate-oxalate ternary complex,therefore enabling an advanced phosphate removal *** an initial phosphate concentration of 1.00 mg P/L,pH of 6.0 and a dosage of 0.3 g/L of adsorbents,OX-nZVI exhibited faster phosphate removal rate(0.11 g/mg/min)and lower residual phosphate level(0.02 mg P/L)than nZVI(0.055 g/mg/min and 0.19 mg P/L).This study sheds light on the importance of site manipulation in the development of high-performance adsorbents,and offers a facile surface modification strategy to prepare superior iron-basedmaterials for advanced phosphate removal.

This study focuses on the electrical properties and microstructure of polypropylene(PP)-based blends used for cable insulation in nuclear power plants(NPPs).The PP-based blend,comprising isotactic PP and propylene-based elastomer(PBE)at concentrations ranging from 0 to 50 wt%,underwent a melt blending process and subsequent cobalt-60 gamma-ray irradiation with doses ranging from 0 to 250 *** conductivity,trap distribution,and alternating(AC)breakdown strength were chosen to assess the insulation *** results indicate that the addition of PBE significantly improves the electrical properties of PP under *** PP,the electrical conductivity increased with irradiation,whereas the trap depth and breakdown strength decreased ***,for the blend,these changes initially exhibit opposite *** the irradiation was increased to 250 kGy,the AC breakdown strength of the blend improved by more than 21%compared to that of *** physical and chemical structures of the samples were investigated to explore the improvement *** results offer insights into the design of new cable-insulation materials suitable for NPPs.

Aerodynamic Optimization and Flow Mechanism for a Compressor Cascade at Low Reynolds Number

Low-Reynolds-number effect is an important factor affecting the performance of compressors and other main components of high-altitude long-endurance unmanned aerial *** improve the flow condition and reduce flow loss under the condition of high altitude and low Reynolds number(Re),this paper proposes an optimization process based on a surrogate model,which combines the class-shape transformation method(CST),the Latin hypercube sampling(LHS)method,the light gradient-boosting machine algorithm(lightGBM),and a genetic algorithm(GA)to optimize a high-subsonic compressor *** surrogate model is verified to be accurate and can be used in the optimization *** accuracy of the GA is higher than the other algorithms under common test *** optimization results are verified by numerical simulation,and the flow differences before and after optimization are compared,especially the flow within the boundary *** changing the blade shape,the optimization process adjusts the loading distribution to delay the transition of the optimized blade on the suction surface,which changes the turbulent reattachment in the laminar separation bubble(LSB)into laminar ***,the mixing loss induced by the turbulent reattachment of the LSB and the wake loss of turbulent separation at the trailing edge are significantly reduced,and the performance of the compressor profile is finally *** addition,turbulent separation of the optimized profile is delayed reducing the range of the wake region on the suction *** this optimization process,the reduction of total pressure loss coefficient at Re of 2.5×10^(5),3.5×10^(5),and 4.5×10^(5) are 16.32%,20.76%,and 22.16%,respectively.

Sr-Nd isotopic characteristics and their significance in provenance tracing of detrital sediment in major rivers and marginal seas of eastern China

Sr-Nd isotopes are widely utilized as reliable tracers in sediment provenance *** this study,we compiled 304 Sr and 335 Nd isotope data of fine-grained surface sediments collected from major rivers in eastern China,including the Huanghe River,Changjiang River,southeastern coastal rivers,and rivers in Taiwan Island,as well as from marginal seas(Yellow Sea and East China Sea)and the Okinawa *** comprehensive dataset allowed us to examine the spatial distribution patterns of these isotopes and their implications for provenance *** variations ofεNd values in the sediments in Changjiang and Huanghe Basins primarily reflect the diversity of sediment sources,whereas the^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr ratios are influenced by both grain size and source ***,the reduction in^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr ratios observed in the middle and lower Changjiang River is attributed to the inputs of sources characterized by distinct^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr signatures beyond mere grain size *** the southeastern coastal and Taiwan rivers,sediments in the tidal reaches of the Jiao River exhibit hybrid characteristics,a mix of Changjiang-derived sediment and those originating from local ***,the Min River and Jiulong River sediments predominantly reflect local sources,with minimal influence from the Changjiang *** significant isotopic variation of Sr-Nd isotopic characteristics observed between riverine sediments on the eastern and western sides of Taiwan Island underscores the diverse provenance heterogeneity of source rocks in the *** the marginal seas,our data indicates that the surface sediments in the central mud area of the South Yellow Sea and the southern Yellow Sea are predominantly sourced from the Changjiang River catchment,potentially augmented by inputs from Korean *** inner shelf sediments of the East China Sea are primarily influenced by Changjiang River inputs,whereas rivers in eastern Taiwan Island contribute to the sediments on

Research on Stock Price Prediction Method Based on the GAN-LSTM-Attention Model

Stock price prediction is a typical complex time series prediction problem characterized by dynamics,nonlinearity,and *** paper introduces a generative adversarial network model that incorporates an attention mechanism(GAN-LSTM-Attention)to improve the accuracy of stock price ***,the generator of this model combines the Long and Short-Term Memory Network(LSTM),the Attention Mechanism and,the Fully-Connected Layer,focusing on generating the predicted stock *** discriminator combines the Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)and the Fully-Connected Layer to discriminate between real stock prices and generated stock ***,to evaluate the practical application ability and generalization ability of the GAN-LSTM-Attention model,four representative stocks in the United States of America(USA)stock market,namely,Standard&Poor’s 500 Index stock,Apple Incorporatedstock,AdvancedMicroDevices Incorporatedstock,and Google Incorporated stock were selected for prediction experiments,and the prediction performance was comprehensively evaluated by using the three evaluation metrics,namely,mean absolute error(MAE),root mean square error(RMSE),and coefficient of determination(R2).Finally,the specific effects of the attention mechanism,convolutional layer,and fully-connected layer on the prediction performance of the model are systematically analyzed through ablation *** results of experiment show that the GAN-LSTM-Attention model exhibits excellent performance and robustness in stock price prediction.

Study on cook-off characteristics and thermal safety venting area of RBOE charge

RBOE is a new type of DNAN-based high-energy melt-cast mixed explosive,whose safety under thermal stimulation is significantly affected by heating conditions and venting area of the *** on the thermal decomposition reaction characteristics and combustion characteristics of each component of RBOE explosive,the cook-off calculation models of RBOE warhead before and after ignition were *** addition,closed and vented warheads were designed,as well as fast and slow cook-off test *** cook-off characteristics and thermal safety venting area of RBOE warhead were extensively *** results showed that the closed RBOE warhead underwent deflagration reaction under both slow and fast cook-off *** calculation result of the shell wall temperature before slow cookoff ignition response of the warhead was 454.06 K,with an error of+1.75%compared to the test result of462.15 K,and the temperature rise rate calculated was in good agreement with the *** calculated ignition time of RBOE warhead under fast cook-off was 161 s,with an error of+8.8%compared to the test result of 148 s,which verified the accuracy of cook-off model of RBOE warhead before *** to the cook-off calculation model of the warhead after ignition and cook-off test of the vented warhead,it was determined that the thermal safety venting area was 1124.61 mm^(2)for fast cook-off and 530.66 mm~2 for slow cook-off,effectively preventing the reaction of warhead above ***,this study provides a scientific basis for the thermal safety design and evaluation of insensitive warheads.
