Expression significance of biomarker MORC4 in colorectal cancer patients and its relationship with pathological features and prognosis

BACKGROUND Colorectal cancer(CRC)is one of the most common malignant gastrointestinal tumors worldwide,with high incidence and mortality *** To investigate the expression significance of the chromatin-remodeling protein MORC family CW-type zinc finger 4(MORC4)as a biomarker in CRC patients,and to explore its relationship with pathological features and *** A total of 143 CRC specimens and 57 adjacent tissue specimens,surgically removed from our hospital between January 2020 and January 2021,were ***4 protein expression was assessed using immunohistochemistry after paraffin *** relationship between MORC4 protein expression and clinicopathological characteristics of patients was ***-Meier survival curves were plotted to analyze the relationship between MORC4 protein expression and prognosis in CRC *** Compared with adjacent tissues,the expression rate of MORC4 protein in CRC tissues was significantly higher(P0.05).However,significant differences were found in the high expression rate of MORC4 protein in patients with different degrees of differentiation,lymph node metastasis,distant metastasis,tumor-lymph node-metastasis stage,and serum carcinoembryonic antigen levels(P<0.05).Compared with patients with low MORC4 expression,patients with high MORC4 expression had a worse prognosis(P<0.05).CONCLUSION The upregulation of MORC4 expression in CRC patients is closely related to disease severity and prognosis,suggesting its potential as an evaluation biomarker,which warrants further investigation.

Association between serum resistin level and cardiovascular events in postmenopausal women with acute coronary syndrome undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention

Background As an adipocytokine, resistin has been proposed as a link between inflammation, metabolic disorder and atherosclerosis. The aim of the study is to evaluate whether serum resistin is associated with acute coronary syndrome （ACS） and major adverse cardiovascular events （MACEs） among postmenopausal women with ACS undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention （PCI）. Methods A total of 106 consecutive postmenopausal women who underwent coronary angiography for evaluation of suspected myocardial ischemia were enrolled. Pre-procedure serum resistin, inflammatory and metabolic biomarkers were measured. All participants were followed for seven years for MACEs, including cardiovascular death, recurrent nonfatal myocardial infarction, and re-PCl. Results Patients with ACS （n=69） had significantly higher resistin levels than those without coronary artery disease （CAD）（n=37）（4.61 （1.79-10.80） ng/ml vs. 2.36 （0.85-4.15） ng/ml, P=0.002）. Correlation analysis revealed positive correlations between resistin levels and inflammatory and metabolic factors （P 〈0.05）. A follow-up of a mean of 83.4 months showed that patients with ACS suffered more MACEs than those without （13.0% vs. 2.7%, P=0.05）. Adjusted for cardiovascular risks, inflammatory and metabolic factors, multiple Logistic regression analysis indicated that an elevated resistin level was an independent predictor of ACS onset （OR=1.139, 95% CI 1.024-1.268, P=0.017） and of MACEs after PCI （OR=1.099, 95% CI 1.015-1.189, P=-0.019）. To clarify the association between resistin levels and MACEs, ACS patients were divided into two subgroups on the basis of resistin levels. Compared with the low resistin subgroup （≤4.35 ng/ml, n=32）, patients in the high resistin subgroup （〉4.35 ng/ml, n=37） were more prone to suffer MACEs （21.6% vs. 3.1%, P=0.015）. Local magnetic moment oscillation around an Anderson impurity on graphene

We theoretically investigate the spin resolved Friedel oscillation(FO)and quasiparticle interference(QPI)in graphene induced by an Anderson *** the impurity becomes magnetic,the resulted FO becomes spin dependent,which gives rise to a local magnetic moment oscillation with an envelop decaying as r^(-2) in real space in the doping ***,at half filling,the electron density and local magnetic moment will not oscillate but decay as r^(-3).Such spin resolved FO has both sublattice and spin ***,the local magnetic moment decay at half filling only occurs at one sublattice of graphene,which is quite like the phenomenon observed in the STM experiment(***ález-Herrero et al.,Science 352,437(2016)).We further give an analytic formula about such spin dependent FO based on the stationary phase ***,we study the interference of quasiparticles around the magnetic impurity by calculating the spin dependent Fourier-transformed local density of states(FT-LDOS).Our work gives a comprehensive understanding about the local magnetic moment oscillation around an Anderson impurity on graphene.

Diet-induced hyperhomocysteinemia exacerbates vascular reverse remodeling of balloon-injured arteries in rat

Background While hyperhomocysteinemia is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases, the effect of hyperhomocysteinemia on the vascular adventitia and vessel remodeling has not been clearly demonstrated. We investigated the effect of the hyperhomocysteinemia on adventitial hyperplasia and vascular remodeling following balloon injury in rats and the underlying mechanisms. Methods Rats were fed with diet containing methionine for 4 weeks to increase plasma homocysteine before balloon injury. Vascular geometrical changes were assessed at different time points following balloon injury. The collagen deposition was determined by picrosirius red staining and immunohistochemical staining. Results When compared with normal diet group, moderate hyperhomocysteinemia in methionine diet group significantly exacerbated adventitial hyperplasia at day 7 and collagen deposition mainly in the adventitia at day 28 following balloon injury. The increased plasma homocysteine level significantly increased collagen deposition in the adventitia. There was a negative correlation （r=-0.698; P〈0.01） between the luminal area and the collagen content in the adventitia on day 28 following balloon injury. In cultured adventitial fibroblasts isolated from rat aorta, 100 pmol/L L-homocysteine （L-Hcy） significantly down-regulated matrix metalloproteinase-2 activity by 43% as determined by in vitro gelatin zymography （P 〈0.05） and up-regulated the expression of collagen type I by 187% （P 〈0.05） assessed by Western blotting. Conclusions Hyperhomocysteinemia exacerbated vascular constrictive remodeling by accelerated neointima formation and collagen accumulation in the adventitia. Increased collagen deposition may be the underlying mechanism.

重力梯度仪是对地球表面微小重力梯度变化进行连续测量的仪器。由于核心敏感元件加速度计工艺与性能水平限制,以及多环节安装误差等因素导致系统实际输出信号中包含了大量噪声,且信噪比极低,为了能够在强噪声中有效提取真实的重力梯度信号,需在信号解调过程中降低谐波干扰引起的测量偏差。结合误差产生机理,分析比较了不同的解调方法对重力梯度信号解调的影响,明确了合理的信号解调手段。同时,在数据处理过程中增加带通滤波环节,进一步降低动态噪声对系统的影响。结合动态摇摆实验数据的仿真验证结果表明:上述措施对重力梯度仪原始观测数据的噪声抑制具有明显效果,测量偏差在一定程度上得到解决,解调后信号的噪声幅度下降至20%,提高了系统的空间分辨率,具有工程化应用意义。

Strategies for efficient enrichment of anaerobic ammonia oxidizing bacteria in activated sludge

Anaerobic ammonia oxidation(Anammox)is an economical and sustainablewastewater nitrogen removal technology,and its application in the mainstream process is the inevitable trend of the development of ***,how to effectively enriching Anammox bacteria from the activated sludge remains challenging and restricts its extensive *** this study,the rapid and efficient enrichment of Anammox bacteriawas achieved by raising the reflux ratio and nitrogen loading rate(NLR)using conventional activated sludge as the *** the screening phase(days 1–90),the reflux ratio was increased to discharge partial floc sludge,resulting in the relative abundance of Candidatus Brocadiaceae increased from0.04%to 22.54%,which effectively reduced thematrix and spatial competition between other microorganisms and Anammox *** day 90,the stoichiometric ratio of the Anammox process closely approached the theoretical value of 1:1.32:0.26,indicating that the Anammox reaction was the primary nitrogen removal process in the *** the enrichment phase(days 91–238),the NLR increased from 0.43 to 1.20 kgN/(m^(3)·d)and removal efficiency was 71.89%,resulting in the relative abundance of Candidatus Brocadiaceae increased to 61.27%on day *** reactor operated steadily from days 444 to 498,maintaining the nitrogen removal rate(NRR)of 3.00 kgN/(m^(3)·d)and achieving successful sludge granulation with the particle size of 392.4μ*** short,this study provided a simple and efficient approach for enriching Anammox bacteria from the activated sludge,supporting to start an Anammox process efficiently.

Loess-mudstone landslides are common in the Loess *** into the mechanical theory of loess-mudstone landslides have become a challenging undertaking due to the distinctive interfacial properties of loess-mudstone and the unique water sensitivity characteristics of ***,it is imperative to develop innovative mechanical models and mathematical equations specifically tailored to loess-mudstone *** this study,we analyze the fracture mechanism of the loess-mudstone sliding zone using plastic fracture mechanics and develop a unique fracture yield *** calculate the energy release rate during the expansion of the loess-mudstone interface tip region,the shear fracture energy G is applied,which reflects both the yield failure criterion and the fracture failure *** better understand the instability mechanism of loess-mudstone landslides,equilibrium equations based on G are established for tractive,compressive,and tensile loess-mudstone *** on the equilibrium equation,the critical length Lc of the sliding zone can be used for the safety evaluation of loess-mudstone *** this way,this study proposes a new method for determining the failure mechanism and equilibrium equation of loessmudstone landslides,which resolves their starting mechanism,mechanical equilibrium equations,and safety evaluation indicators,thus justifying the scientific significance and practical value of this research.

An efficient quantum proactive incremental learning algorithm

In scenarios where a large amount of data needs to be learned,incremental learning can make full use of old knowledge,signif-icantly reduce the computational cost of the overall learning process,and maintain high *** this paper,taking the MaxCut problem as our example,we introduce the idea of incremental learning into quantum computing,and propose a Quantum Proactive Incremental Learning algorithm(QPIL).Instead of a one-off training of quantum circuit,QPIL contains a multi-phase training on gradually-increased subgraphs of all vertices,proactively reducing large-scale problems to smaller ones to solve in steps,providing an efficient solution for ***,some vertices and corresponding edges are randomly selected for training to obtain optimized parameters of the quantum circuit at ***,in each incremental phase,the remaining vertices and corresponding edges are gradually added and the parameters obtained from the previous phase are reused in the parameter initialization of the current *** perform experiments on 120 different small-scale graphs,and it shows that QPIL performs superior to prevalent quantum and classical baselines in terms of approximation ratio(AR),time cost,anti-forgetting,and solv-ing *** particular,QPIL’s AR surpasses 20%of mainstream quantum baselines,and the time cost is less than 1/5 of *** idea of QPIL is expected to inspire efficient and high-quality solutions in large-scale MaxCut and other combinatorial optimization problems.

Relative humidity-dependent evolution of molecular composition ofα-pinene secondary organic aerosol upon heterogeneous oxidation by hydroxyl radicals

Heterogeneous oxidation by gas-phase oxidants is an important chemical transformation pathway of secondary organic aerosol(SOA)and plays an important role in controlling the abundance,properties,as well as climate and health impacts of ***,our knowledge on this heterogeneous chemistry remains *** this study,the heterogeneous oxidation ofα-pinene ozonolysis SOA by hydroxyl(OH)radicals was investigated under both low and high relative humidity(RH)conditions,with an emphasis on the evolution of molecular composition of SOA and its RH *** is found that the heterogeneous oxidation of SOA at an OH exposure level equivalent to 12 hr of atmospheric aging leads to particle mass loss of 60%at 25%RH and 95%at 90%*** heterogeneous oxidation strongly changes the molecular composition of *** dimer-to-monomer signal ratios increase dramatically with rising OH exposure,in particular under high RH conditions,suggesting that aerosol water stimulates the reaction of monomers with OH radicals more than that of *** addition,the typical SOA tracer compounds such as pinic acid,pinonic acid,hydroxy pinonic acid and dimer esters(e.g.,C17H26O8 and C19H28O7)have lifetimes of several hours against heterogeneous OH oxidation under typical atmospheric conditions,which highlights the need for the consideration of their heterogeneous loss in the estimation of monoterpene SOA concentrations using tracer-based *** study sheds lights on the heterogeneous oxidation chemistry ofmonoterpene SOA andwould help to understand their evolution and impacts in the atmosphere.
