By accurately measuring composition and energy spectrum of cosmic ray,the origin problem of so called“knee”region(energy>one PeV)can be ***,up to the present,the results of the spectrum in the knee region obtained by several previous experiments have shown obvious differences,so they cannot give effective evidence for judging the theoretical models on the origin of the ***,the Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory(LHAASO)has reported several major breakthroughs and important results in astro-particle physics *** on its advantages of wide-sky survey,high altitude location and large area detector arrays,the research content of LHAASO experiment mainly includes ultra high-energy gamma-ray astronomy,measurement of cosmic ray spectra in the knee region,searching for dark matter and new phenomena of particle physics at higher *** electron and thermal neutron detector(EN-Detector)is a new scintillator detector which applies thermal neutron detection technology to measure cosmic ray extensive air shower(EAS).This technology is an extension of *** EN-Detector Array(ENDA)can highly efficiently measure thermal neutrons generated by secondary hadrons so called“skeleton”of *** this paper,we perform the optimization of ENDA configuration,and obtain expectations on the ENDA results,including thermal neutron distribution,trigger efficiency and capability of cosmic ray composition *** obtained real data results are consistent with those by the Monte Carlo simulation.

Expectation on probing the origin of the cosmic ray knee with the LHAASO experiment

Purpose The cosmic-ray(CR)knee and the compositions contain abundant information for probing the CR’s origin,acceleration and propagation mechanisms,as well as the frontier of the fundamental *** that major proposals toward the knee’s shape can be divided into two categories:the rigidity-dependent(also Z-dependent)knee and the mass-dependent(also A-dependent)knee,where the former one relates to the acceleration or the propagation mechanisms and the other one is often associated with the new physics;it is essential to precisely measure the individual *** Benefiting from the high altitude and hybrid detection methods,the LHAASO experiment has the ability to determine the individual component and brings us an opportunity in discriminating these two *** test this expected ability of LHAASO from 100 TeV to 10 PeV with 3-year *** As a result,these models can be discriminated when the knee is dominated by the CR component equal or heavier than the helium under LHAASO’s first operation *** In this paper,the hypothesis test method is utilized to evaluate the ability of the LHAASO experiment to discriminate different knee *** is manifested viable with enough observing duration.

Determination of Optimum Growing Degree-Days (GDD) Range Before Winter for Wheat Cultivars with Different Growth Characteristics in North China Plain

To provide base for adjusting the sowing date,achieving the yield potential of wheat cultivars with different growth characteristics,and improving the utilization rate of natural resource in the North China Plain （NCP）,a 4-yr field experiment of growing degree-days （GDD） before winter （realized through different sowing dates） with three wheat （Triticum aestivum L.） cultivars of each type of semi-winterness and weak springness was carried out at 20 test experimental sites （32°4’N36°1’N） of Henan Province in the *** results showed that：（i） yield of semi-winterness wheat was significantly higher than weak springness wheat （P〈0.01）;（ii） there was a quadratic regression between the yield and GDD before *** to the regression equation,the optimum GDD range with high yield of semi-winterness and weak springness wheats was 750-770 and 570-590°C d,respectively;（iii） under the optimum GDD condition,the foliar age on the main stem of semi-winterness and weak springness wheats was 7.67-7.91 and 6.36-6.86 leaves,respectively,calculated by the linear regression equation between foliar age and GDD before winter;（iv） both semi-winterness and weak springness wheats were in the double ridge stage of spike differentiation under the condition of the optimum GDD range,and at this time,the foliar age on the main stem of semi-winterness and weak springness wheats was about 7.80 and 6.07 leaves,respectively,which was consistent with the results calculated by the liner regression ***,we could consider that the sowing date is appropriate if the foliar age is about 7.8 and 6.3 leaves for semi-winterness and weak springness wheats,*** to the results of this study,choosing semi-winterness wheat and planting 710 d earlier would improve yield and natural resource utilization in NCP.

Microglia are the main non-neuronal cells in the central nervous system that have important roles in brain development and functional connectivity of neural *** brain physiology,highly dynamic microglial processes are facilitated to sense the surrounding environment and *** the brain switches its functional states,microglia are recruited to specific sites to exert their immune functions,including the release of cytokines and phagocytosis of cellular *** crosstalk of microglia between neurons,neural stem cells,endothelial cells,oligodendrocytes,and astrocytes contributes to their functions in synapse pruning,neurogenesis,vascularization,myelination,and blood-brain barrier *** this review,we highlight the neuron-derived“find-me,”“eat-me,”and“don't eat-me”molecular signals that drive microglia in response to changes in neuronal activity for synapse refinement during brain *** review reveals the molecular mechanism of neuron-microglia interaction in synaptic pruning and presents novel ideas for the synaptic pruning of microglia in disease,thereby providing important clues for discovery of target drugs and development of nervous system disease treatment methods targeting synaptic dysfunction.

Smart Gait:A Gait Optimization Framework for Hexapod Robots

The current gait planning for legged robots is mostly based on human presets,which cannot match the flexible characteristics of natural *** paper proposes a gait optimization framework for hexapod robots called Smart *** Gait contains three modules:swing leg trajectory optimization,gait period&duty optimization,and gait sequence *** full dynamics of a single leg,and the centroid dynamics of the overall robot are considered in the respective *** Smart Gait not only helps the robot to decrease the energy consumption when in locomotion,mostly,it enables the hexapod robot to determine its gait pattern transitions based on its current state,instead of repeating the formalistic clock-set step *** Smart Gait framework allows the hexapod robot to behave nimbly as a living animal when in 3D movements for the first *** Smart Gait framework combines offline and online optimizations without any fussy data-driven training procedures,and it can run efficiently on board in real-time after *** experiments are carried out on the hexapod robot *** results show that the energy consumption is reduced by 15.9%when in *** gait patterns can be generated spontaneously both in regular and challenge environments,and when facing external interferences.

Data-Driven Direct Adaptive Risk-Sensitive Control of Stochastic Systems

The authors propose a data-driven direct adaptive control law based on the adaptive dynamic programming(ADP) algorithm for continuous-time stochastic linear systems with partially unknown system dynamics and infinite horizon quadratic risk-sensitive *** authors use online data of the system to iteratively solve the generalized algebraic Riccati equation(GARE) and to learn the optimal control law *** the case with measurable system noises,the authors show that the adaptive control law approximates the optimal control law as time goes *** the case with unmeasurable system noises,the authors use the least-square solution calculated only from the measurable data instead of the real solution of the regression equation to iteratively solve the *** authors also study the influences of the intensity of the system noises,the intensity of the exploration noises,the initial iterative matrix,and the sampling period on the convergence of the ADP ***,the authors present two numerical simulation examples to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms.

Atomistic study of inverse size effect induced by interfacial plasticity in pearlitic multi-principal element alloy

Owing to the fine nano-laminated structure,the pearlitic multi-principal element alloy(PMPEA) exhibits excellent mechanical and tribological ***,the incomplete understanding of the size effect of its lamella thickness and the unclear understanding of the plasticity-interface interaction mechanism limit further optimization of *** this study,the FeCoNi/Ni_3Ti interface-mediated plastic deformation behavior in PMPEA and the variation of mechanical and tribological properties with lamella thickness within the nanoscale range using molecular dynamics(MD) simulation were *** results indicate that the mechanical and tribological properties of the PMPEA with lamella thicknesses below 10 nm have a significant inverse size effect,i.e.,the smaller the lamella thickness,the weaker the *** is because the plastic carrier-interface interaction mechanism changes from a strengthening mechanism that hinders dislocations to a weakening mechanism that promotes dislocations with the decreases in the lamella thickness,and the weakening effect becomes more pronounced as the lamella thickness decreases and the number of interfaces *** particular,the deformation behavior of Ni_3Ti lamellae changes from crystal-like to amorphous-like with decreasing ***,in the sample with larger lamella thickness,the occurrence of hierarchical slips in the body-centered cubic(BCC) phase due to the multiprincipal elements effect can better alleviate the stress concentration caused by the dislocation accumulation at the interface,so that the phase interface exhibits outstanding load-bearing *** the dislocation pattern in BCC phase shows a firm high-density cell,which makes the substrate exhibit a stable tribological response.
