Aim Tissue engineering is a promising area with a broad range of applications in the fields of regenerative medicine and human health. The emergence of periodontal tissue engineering for clinical treatment of periodontal disease has opened a new therapeutic avenue. The choice of scaffold is crucial. This study was conducted to prepare zein scaffold and explore the suitability of zein and Shuanghuangbu for periodontal tissue *** A zein scaffold was made using the solvent casting/particulate leaching method with sodium chloride （naC1） particles as the porogen. The physical properties of the zein scaffold were evaluated by observing its shape and determining its pore structure and porosity. Cytotoxicity testing of the scaffold was carried out via in vitro cell culture experiments, including a liquid extraction experi- ment and the direct contact assay. Also, the Chinese medicine Shuanghuangbu, as a growth factor, was diluted by scaffold extract into different concentrations. This Shuanghuangbu-scaffold extract was then added to periodontal ligament cells （PDLCs） in order to determineits effect on cell proliferation. Results The zein scaffold displayed a sponge-like structure with a high porosity and sufficient thickness. The porosity and pore size of the zein scaffold can be controlled by changing the porogen particles dosage and size. The porosity was up to 64.1%-78.0%. The pores were well-distributed, interconnected, and porous. The toxicity of the zein scaffold was graded as 0-1. Furthermore, PDLCs displayed full stretching and vigorous growth under scanning electronic microscope （SEM）. Shuanghuangbu-scaffold extract could reinforce proliferation activity of PDLCs compared to the control group, especially at 100 μ***^-1 （P〈0.01）. Conclusion A zein scaffold with high porosity, open pore wall structure, and good biocompatibility is conducive to the growth of PDLCs. AIM:To investigate corneal graft survival rate and endothelial cell density(ECD)loss after keratoplasty in cytomegalovirus(CMV)positive ***:This was a retrospective cohort *** analyzed the clinical data of patients who underwent viral Dna detection in aqueous humor/corneal tissue collected during keratoplasty from March 2015 to December 2018 at the Peking University Third Hospital,Beijing,*** further evaluate the effect of CMV on graft survival rate and ECD loss,patients were divided into three groups:1)CMV Dna positive(CMV+)group;2)viral Dna negative(virus-)group,comprising virus-group eyes pairwise matched to eyes in the CMV+group according to ocular comorbidities;3)control group,comprising virus-group eyes without ocular *** follow-up indicators including graft survival rate,ECD,ECD loss,and central corneal thickness(CCT),were analyzed by Tukey honestly significant difference(HSD)***:Each group included 29 *** graft survival rate in CMV+group were lowest among the three groups(P=0.000).No significant difference in donor graft ECD was found among three groups(P=0.54).ECD in the CMV+group was lower than the virus-group at 12(P=0.009),and 24mo(P=0.002)after ***,ECD loss was higher in the CMV+group than in the virus-group in the middle stage(6-12mo)postkeratoplasty(P=0.017),and significantly higher in the early stage(0-6mo)in the virus-group than in the control group(P=0.000).CONCLUSION:CMV reduces the graft survival rate and exerts persistent detrimental effects on the ECD after *** graft ECD loss associate with CMV infection mainly occurrs in the middle stage(6-12mo postoperatively),while ocular comorbidities mainly affects ECD in the early stage(0-6mo postoperatively).

AIM: To investigate the effects of inhibiting factor of cellcycle regulation p57kip2, retinoblastinoma protein (Rb protein)and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCna) in the genesisand progression of human pancreatic ***: The expression of p57kip2, Rb protein and PCnain tumor tissues and adjacent tissues of 32 patients withpancreatic cancer was detected with SP ***: p57kip2 protein positive-expression rate in tumortissues of pancreatic cancer was 46.9 %, which was lowerthan that in adjacent pancreatic tissues (75.0 %) (x2=5.317,P＜0.05), p57kip2 protein positive-expression correlatedsignificantly with tumor cell differentiation (well-differentiationversus moderate or low-differentiation, P＜0.05) but did notcorrelate significantly with lymph node metastasis (lymph nodemetastasis versus non-lymph node metastasis, P＞0.05); Rbgene protein positive-expression rate in tumor tissues was50.0 %, which was also lower than that in adjacent pancreatictissues (78.1%) (x2=5.497, P＜0.05); PCna positive-expression rate was 71.9 %, being higher than that inadjacent pancreatic tissues (43.8 %) (x2=5.189, P＜0.05),PCna positive-expression also correlated significantly withtumor cell differentiation and lymph node metastasis (well-differentiation versus moderate or low- differentiation, lymphnode metastasis versus non-lymph node metastasis, P＜0.05).Rb protein positive-expression rate in the tumor tissues ofp57kip2 protein positive-expression group was 53.3 %; andRb protein positive-expression rate in the tumor tissues ofp57kip2 protein negative-expression group was 47.1%. Therewas no significant relationship between the two groups(r=0.16507, P＞0.05).CONCLUSION: The decreased expression of p57kip2, Rbprotein or over-expression of PCna protein might contributeto the genesis or progression of pancreatic cancer, p57kip2,Rb protein and PCna may play an important role in genesisand progression of pancreatic cancer.

Myricetin protects against diet-induced obesity and ameliorates oxidative stress in C57BL/6 mice

Background： Mydcetin is a naturally occurring antioxidant commonly found in various plants. However, little information is available with respect to its direct anti-obesity effects. Objective： This study was undertaken to investigate the effect of myricetin on high-fat diet （HFD）-induced obesity in C57BL/6 mice. Results： Administration of myricetin dramatically reduced the body weight of diet-induced obese mice compared with solely HFD-induced mice. Several parameters related to obesity including serum glucose, triglyceride, and cholesterol were significantly de- creased in myricetin-treated mice. Moreover, obesity-associated oxidative stress （glutathione peroxidase （GPX） activity, total antioxidant capacity （T-AOC）, and malondialdehyde （MDA）） and inflammation （tumor necrosis factor-α （TNF-α）） were ameliorated in myricetin-treated mice. Further investigation revealed that the protective effect of my- ricetin against HFD-induced obesity in mice appeared to be partially mediated through the down-regulation of mRna expression of adipogenic transcription factors peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor y （PPARF） and CCAAT/enhancer- binding protein a （C/EBPa）, and lipogenic transcription factor sterol regulatory element-binding protein lc （SREBP-1c）. Conclusions： Consumption of myricetin may help to prevent obesity and obesity-related metabolic complications.

Objective Gastric precancerous conditions such as atrophic gastritis(AG)and intestinal metaplasia(IM)are considered independent risk factors for gastric cancer(GC).The suitable endoscopic monitoring interval is unclear when we attempt to prevent GC *** study investigated the appropriate monitoring interval for AG/IM *** Totally,957 AG/IM patients who satisfied the criteria for evaluation between 2010 and 2020 were included in the *** and multivariate analyses were used to determine the risk factors for progression to high-grade intraepithelial neoplasia(HGIN)/GC in AG/IM patients,and to determine an appropriate endoscopic monitoring *** During follow-up,28 AG/IM patients developed gastric neoplasia lesions including gastric low-grade intraepithelial neoplasia(LGIN)(0.7%),HGIN(0.9%),and GC(1.3%).Multivariate analysis identified *** infection(P=0.022)and extensive AG/IM lesions(P=0.002)as risk factors for HGIN/GC progression(P=0.025).Conclusion In our study,HGIN/GC was present in 2.2%of AG/IM *** AG/IM patients with extensive lesions,a 1–2-year surveillance interval is recommended for early detection of HIGN/GC in AG/IM patients with extensive lesions.

In spinless systems,growing attention has recently been attracted to synthetic gauge fields,which redefine the fundamental crystal symmetries by utilizing the projective algebraic ***,synthetic gauge fields have been commonly investigated in single orbital systems,and explorations on hybrid orbitals remain elusive in ***,we report the experimental observation of hybrid topological phases induced by hybrid synthetic gauge flux,which is formed by the interaction between p and d orbitals embedded in acoustic *** breaking the translation symmetries of Lxand/or Ly,we unambiguously demonstrate the first-order M?bius edge states and higher-order corner *** work establishes a platform for seeking exotic topological phases induced by hybrid-orbitals interactions and initializing the framework of hybrid-orbitalsrelated topological *** applications can be anticipated in scenarios such as high-quality sensing and robust wave trapping due to the stepwise energy distribution of the hybrid topological phase.
