ZmbZIP27 regulates nitrogen-mediated leaf angle by modulating lignin deposition in maize

In grain crops such as maize(Zea mays),leaf angle(LA)is a key agronomic trait affecting light interception and thus planting density and ***(N)affects LA in plants,but we lack a good understanding of how N regulates ***,we report that N deficiency enhanced lignin deposition in the ligular region of maize *** situ hybridization showed that the bZIP transcription factor gene ZmbZIP27 is mainly expressed in the phloem of maize vascular *** N-sufficient conditions,transgenic maize overexpressing ZmbZIP27 showed significantly smaller LA compared with wild type(WT).By contrast,zmbzip27_(ems)mutant showed larger LA under both N-deficient and N-sufficient conditions compared with *** of ZmbZIP27 enhanced lignin deposition in the ligular region of maize in the *** further demonstrated that ZmbZIP27 could directly bind the promoters of the microRNA genes ZmMIR528a and ZmMIR528b and negatively regulate the expression levels of ***528 knockdown transgenic maize displayed erect architecture in the field by increasing lignin content in the ligular region of *** together,these results indicate that ZmbZIP27 regulates N-mediated LA size by regulating the expression of ZmmiR528 and modulating lignin deposition in maize.

Considering the application requirements for modern biomedicine,research into novel biomaterials with unusual functions is highly *** an alternative,liquid metals(LMs),a nontraditional family of metal materials,have piqued the interest of biomedical researchers and made significant advances in biomed-ical areas,owing to their shape transformability,self-healing capability,excellent electrical,and thermal *** particular,many functionalized strategies for the preparation and modification of LMs or LMs-based composites to achieve extended biomedical applications have been investigated in recent *** findings provided inspiring while constructive reference for the fabrication and engineering of novel LMs-based ***,in this topic review,we elaborate on the recent advances of LMs-based functional materials,with particular focuses on the synthesis,modification,and bio-applications,especially in antitumor therapy,antibacterial,contrast agent for imaging,bone repair,electronic skin sen-sor,and nerve connection *** on,the current challenges and future prospects of LMs-based composites are carefully discussed.

Strong metal-support interaction(SMSI)has a great impact on the activity and selectivity of heterogeneous catalysts,which was usually adjusted by changing reduction temperature or processing catalyst in different ***,few researches concentrate on modulating SMSI through regulating the structure of the ***,we show how changing the surface environment of the anatase TiO_(2)(B–TiO_(2))can be used to modulate the *** moderate TiOx overlayer makes the Ni metal highly dispersed on the high specific surface area of support,resulting in a substantially enhanced CO_(2)methanation ***,a novel phenomenon was observed that boron dopants promote the for-mation of the B–O–Ti interface site,enhancing the catalytic performance of CO_(2)*** calculations confirm that the B–O–Ti structure facilitates the activation of CO_(2)and further hydrogenation to methane.

As an emerging preparation technology,wet chemical method has been employed widely to produce lots of alloy materials such as W and Mo based alloys,owing to its unique technical *** the synthesis mechanism behind wet chemical method is indispensable for controlled synthesis of highquality W-Y2 O3 composite powder *** co-deposition mechanism of yttrium and tungsten component behind the wet chemical method of preparing yttrium-doped tungsten composite nanopowder was investigated systematically in this work.A series of co-deposited composite powders fabricated under different acidity conditions were used as research targets for investigating the effect of surface composition and structure on co-deposition *** was found that white tungstic acid has more W-OH bonds and much higher co-deposition efficiency with Y^3+ions than yellow tungstic *** is illustrated that the coordination reaction between W-OH bonds on tungstic acid particles and Y^3+ions brings the co-deposition of yttrium and tungsten component into *** displacing H^+ions in W-OH bonds,Y^3+ions can be adsorbed on the surface of or incorporated into tungstic acid particles in form of ***,to control and regulate Y2 O3 content in powder precursor accurately,H^+ion concentration in wet chemical reaction should be in range of 0.55-2.82 mol L^-1 to obtain white tungstic ***,H^+ion concentration also has prominent effect on the grain size and morphology of reduced powder *** optimal value should be around 1.58 mol L^-1,which can lead to minimum W grain size(about 17 nm) without bimodal *** chemical mechanism proposed in this work could produce great sense to preparation of high-quality precursor for sintering high-performance Y2 O3 dispersion strengthened W based *** work may also shed light on the approach to exploit analogous synthesis mechanism in other alloy systems.

Over-use of N fertilizer in crop production has resulted in a series of environmental problems in the North China Plain(NCP).Thus,improvement of nitrogen use efficiency(NUE)in summer maize has become an effective strategy for promoting sustainable agriculture in this *** twenty maize cultivars,plant dry matter production,N absorption and accumulation,yield formation,and NUE in summer maize were investigated under three N levels in two growing *** on their yield and yield components,these maize cultivars were categorized into four groups including efficient-efficient(EE)cultivars,high-nitrogen efficient(HNE)cultivars,low-nitrogen efficient(LNE)cultivars and nonefficient-nonefficient(NN)*** both two seasons,the EE cultivars improved grain yield together with increased plant biomass,and enhanced accumulative amounts as well as higher average grain yields than the other cultivar groups under deficient-N *** correlations were observed between yield and kernel numbers(KN),dry matter(DM)amount and N accumulation at both post-silking and maturity *** and N accumulation at late growth stage(i.e.,from silking to maturity)contributed largely to the enhanced yield capacity and improved NUE under N-deficient *** with the NN cultivars,the EE cultivars also showed increased N assimilation amount(NAA)and N remobilization content(NRC),and elevated N remobilization efficiency(NRE),NUE and nitrogen partial factor productivity(PFPN).Our investigation has revealed N-associated physiological processes and may provide guidance for cultivation and breeding of high yield and NUE summer maize under limited N conditions in the NCP.

The influence of pre-stretching prior to artificial aging on microstructure,tensile properties,and fatigue behavior of AA2099-T8 sheets was *** results showed that increased pre-strain level from 1%to 6%resulted in a more uniform distribution and increasing density of the T_(1)*** localized plastic deformation during pre-stretching led to the formation of dense precipitation bands(DPBs)and precipitation free bands(T_(1)-PFBs)in the sheets with the 1%*** non-uniform distribution of the T_(1)phase with T_(1)-PFBs and DPBs resulted in a decrement in elongation and a strong in-plane anisotropy of tensile *** appropriate level of pre-strain should be executed aiming to improve elongation and reduce the tensile anisotropy by promoting a uniform distribution of the T_(1)***-plane anisotropy of yield strength due to the presence of DPBs and T_(1)-PFBs was quantitatively analyzed by the modified Hall-Petch *** results of the calculation for the modified model showed good agreement with the *** addition,resistances of fatigue crack propagation(FCP)in the same orientation were gradually decreased with the increment of pre-strain due to the increment in yield strength and more uniform distribution of the T_(1)*** the in-plane anisotropy of FCP resistance,the main reasons were the development of rough fracture surfaces and the transgranular fracture modes in L-T orientation.
