Effects of bilirubin on perioperative myocardial infarction and its long-term prognosis in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention

BACKGROUND Although bilirubin is known to be an antioxidant,any relationship with coronary heart disease remains controversial.To the best of our knowledge,no previous study has investigated the association between bilirubin and perioperative myocardial infarction(PMI),including its long-term prognosis.AIM To investigate the impact of bilirubin levels on PMI in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI),and long-term prognosis in post-PMI patients.METHODS Between January 2014 and September 2018,10236 patients undergoing elective PCI were enrolled in the present study.Total bilirubin(TB)and cardiac troponin I(cTnI)levels were measured prior to PCI and cTnI at further time-points,8,16 and 24 h after PCI.Participants were stratified by pre-PCI TB levels and divided into three groups:14.4μmol/L.PMI was defined as producing a post-procedural cTnI level of>5×upper limit of normal(ULN)with normal baseline cTnI.Major adverse cardiovascular events(MACEs)included cardiac death,MI,stroke and revascularization during a maximum 5-year follow-up.RESULTS PMI was detected in 526(15.3%),431(12.7%)and 424(12.5%)of patients with pre-PCI TB levels of14.4μmol/L(P=0.001),respectively.Multivariate logistical analysis indicated that patients with TB 10.2-14.4 and>14.4μmol/L had a lower incidence of PMI[TB 10.2-14.4μmol/L:Odds ratio(OR):0.854;95%confidence interval(CI):0.739-0.987;P=0.032;TB>14.4μmol/L:OR:0.846;95%CI:0.735-0.975;P=0.021]compared with patients with TB14.4μmol/L was associated with a reduced risk of MACEs compared with a TB levellirubin was a protective factor in PMI prediction.For post-PMI patients,el

Predictors of recurrent angina in patients with no need for secondary revascularization

BACKGROUND: Approximately 20% to 30% of patients with coronary artery disease (CAD)develop recurrent angina pectoris following successful and complete coronary revascularization utilizingpercutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). We aim to investigate predictors of recurrent angina pectorisin patients who have undergone successful coronary revascularization using PCI, but on repeat coronaryangiography have no need for secondary revascularization.METHODS: The study comprised 3,837 patients with CAD, who were enrolled from January2007 to June 2019. They had undergone successful PCI;some of them redeveloped anginapectoris within one year after the procedure, but on repeat coronary angiography had no need forrevascularization. Thrombolysis in myocardial infarction (TIMI) frame count was used to evaluatethe velocity of coronary blood in the follow-up angiogram. Multivariate logistic regression was usedto investigate risk factors for recurrent angina pectoris. Similarly, predictors of recurrent anginaaccording to the TIMI frame count were assessed using multivariate linear regression.RESULTS: In this retrospective study, 53.5% of patients experienced recurrent angina pectoris.By multivariate logistic regression, the following characteristics were statistically identified as riskfactors for recurrent angina pectoris: female sex, older age, current smoking, low-density lipoproteincholesterol (LDL-C) ≥1.8 mmol/L, and an elevated TIMI frame count (P for all linear regression, the statistical risk factors for TIMI frame count included: female sex,older age, diabetes, body mass index (BMI), post-procedural treatment without the inclusion of dualantiplatelet therapy.CONCLUSIONS: Patient characteristics of female sex, older age, diabetes, and elevated BMIare associated with an increased TIMI frame count, coronary microcirculation dysfunction, and recurrentangina pectoris after initially successful PCI. An effective catalyst carrier SiO_(2):Enhancing catalytic and combustion properties of CuFe_(2)O_(4)on energetic components

To enhance the catalytic activity of copper ferrite(CuFe_(2)O_(4))nanoparticle and promote its application as combustion catalyst,a low-cost silicon dioxide(SiO_(2))carrier was employed to construct a novel CuFe_(2)O_(4)/SiO_(2)binary composites via solvothermal method.The phase structure,morphology and catalytic activity of CuFe_(2)O_(4)/SiO_(2)composites were studied firstly,and thermal decomposition,combustion and safety performance of ammonium perchlorate(AP)and 1,3,5-trinitroperhydro-1,3,5-triazine(RDX)with it affecting were then systematically analyzed.The results show that CuFe_(2)O_(4)/SiO_(2)composite can remarkably either advance the decomposition peak temperature of AP and RDX,or reduce the apparent activation energy at their main decomposition zone.Moreover,the flame propagation rate of RDX was promoted by about 2.73 times with SiO_(2)content of 3 wt%,and safety property of energetic component was also improved greatly,in which depressing the electrostatic discharge sensitivity of pure RDX by about 1.89 times.In addition,the effective range of SiO_(2)carrier content in the binary catalyst is found to be 3 to 5 wt%.Therefore,SiO_(2)opens a new insight on the design of combustion catalyst carrier and will promote the application of CuFe_(2)O_(4)catalyst in solid propellant.

Tin(IV)oxide(Sn_(3)O_(4))is layered tin and exhibits mixed valence states.It has emerged as a highly promising visible-light pho-tocatalyst,attracting considerable attention.This comprehensive review is aimed at providing a detailed overview of the latest advance-ments in research,applications,advantages,and challenges associated with Sn_(3)O_(4)photocatalytic nanomaterials.The fundamental con-cepts and principles of Sn_(3)O_(4)are introduced.Sn_(3)O_(4)possesses a unique crystal structure and optoelectronic properties that allow it to ab-sorb visible light efficiently and generate photoexcited charge carriers that drive photocatalytic reactions.Subsequently,strategies for the control and improved performance of Sn_(3)O_(4)photocatalytic nanomaterials are discussed.Morphology control,ion doping,and hetero-structure construction are widely employed in the optimization of the photocatalytic performance of Sn_(3)O_(4)materials.The effective imple-mentation of these strategies improves the photocatalytic activity and stability of Sn_(3)O_(4)nanomaterials.Furthermore,the review explores the diverse applications of Sn_(3)O_(4)photocatalytic nanomaterials in various fields,such as photocatalytic degradation,photocatalytic hydro-gen production,photocatalytic reduction of carbon dioxide,solar cells,photocatalytic sterilization,and optoelectronic sensors.The discus-sion focuses on the potential of Sn_(3)O_(4)-based nanomaterials in these applications,highlighting their unique attributes and functionalities.Finally,the review provides an outlook on the future development directions in the field and offers guidance for the exploration and de-velopment of novel and efficient Sn_(3)O_(4)-based nanomaterials.Through the identification of emerging research areas and potential avenues for improvement,this review aims to stimulate further advancements in Sn_(3)O_(4)-based photocatalysis and facilitate the translation of this promising technology into practical applications.

Integrated Active Suspension and Anti-Lock Braking Control for Four-Wheel-Independent-Drive Electric Vehicles

This paper presents an integrated control scheme for enhancing the ride comfort and handling performance of a four-wheel-independent-drive electric vehicle through the coordination of active suspension system(ASS)and anti-lock braking system(ABS).First,a longitudinal-vertical coupled vehicle dynamics model is established by integrating a road input model.Then the coupling mechanisms between longitudinal and vertical vehicle dynamics are analyzed.An ASS-ABS integrated control system is proposed,utilizing an H∞controller for ASS to optimize load transfer effect and a neural network sliding mode control for ABS implementation.Finally,the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme is evaluated through comprehensive tests conducted on a hardware-in-loop(HIL)test platform.The HIL test results demonstrate that the proposed control scheme can significantly improve the braking performance and ride comfort compared to conventional ABS control methods.

Mechanism of Qili Qiangxin Capsule for Heart Failure Based on miR133a-Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress

Objective:To investigate the pharmacological mechanism of Qili Qiangxin Capsule(QLQX)improvement of heart failure(HF)based on miR133a-endoplasmic reticulum stress(ERS)pathway.Methods:A left coronary artery ligation-induced HF after myocardial infarction model was used in this study.Rats were randomly assigned to the sham group,the model group,the QLQX group[0.32 g/(kg·d)],and the captopril group[2.25 mg/(kg·d)],15 rats per group,followed by 4 weeks of medication.Cardiac function such as left ventricular ejection fraction(EF),fractional shortening(FS),left ventricular systolic pressure(LVSP),left ventricular end diastolic pressure(LVEDP),the maximal rate of increase of left ventricular pressure(+dp/dt max),and the maximal rate of decrease of left ventricular pressure(–dp/dt max)were monitored by echocardiography and hemodynamics.Hematoxylin and eosin(HE)and Masson stainings were used to visualize pathological changes in myocardial tissue.The m RNA expression of mi R133a,glucose-regulated protein78(GRP78),inositol-requiring enzyme 1(IRE1),activating transcription factor 6(ATF6),X-box binding protein1(XBP1),C/EBP homologous protein(CHOP)and Caspase 12 were detected by RT-PCR.The protein expression of GRP78,p-IRE1/IRE1ratio,cleaved-ATF6,XBP1-s(the spliced form of XBP1),CHOP and Caspase 12 were detected by Western blot.Td T-mediated d UTP nick-end labeling(TUNEL)staining was used to detect the rate of apoptosis.Results:QLQX significantly improved cardiac function as evidenced by increased EF,FS,LVSP,+dp/dt max,-dp/dt max,and decreased LVEDP(Pliorated cardiac pathologic damage to some extent.Masson staining indicated that QLQX significantly reduced collagen volume fraction in myocardial tissue(P<0.01).Results from RT-PCR and Western blot showed that QLQX significantly increased the expression of mi R133a and inhibited the m RNA expressions of GRP78,IRE1,ATF6 and XBP1,as well as decreased the protein expressions of GRP78,cleaved-ATF6 and XBP1-s and decreased p-IRE1/IRE1 rati

BACKGROUND Aberrant methylation is common during the initiation and progression of colorectal cancer(CRC),and detecting these changes that occur during early adenoma(ADE)formation and CRC progression has clinical value.AIM To identify potential DNA methylation markers specific to ADE and CRC.METHODS Here,we performed SeqCap targeted bisulfite sequencing and RNA-seq analysis of colorectal ADE and CRC samples to profile the epigenomic-transcriptomic landscape.RESULTS Comparing 22 CRC and 25 ADE samples,global methylation was higher in the former,but both showed similar methylation patterns regarding differentially methylated gene positions,chromatin signatures,and repeated elements.High-grade CRC tended to exhibit elevated methylation levels in gene promoter regions compared to those in low-grade CRC.Combined with RNA-seq gene expression data,we identified 14 methylation-regulated differentially expressed genes,of which only AGTR1 and NECAB1 methylation had prognostic significance.CONCLUSION Our results suggest that genome-wide alterations in DNA methylation occur during the early stages of CRC and demonstrate the methylation signatures associated with colorectal ADEs and CRC,suggesting prognostic biomarkers for CRC.

The influence of silica on reaction rates and molecular hydrogen(H_(2))generation during olivine hydrothermal alteration

Hydrothermal alteration of olivine greatly influences geodynamics and the recycling of volatiles(such as water and carbon)in subduction zones.Silica is an important component of geological fluids,and its influence on the hydrothermal alteration of olivine remains poorly constrained.In this study,we performed experiments at 300–515℃ and 3.0 kbar(1 bar=10^(5)Pa)by reacting well homogenized mixtures of olivine and silica powders with saline solutions(0.5 mol L^(−1)NaCl).Silica greatly influences the reaction pathways,reaction rates,and molecular hydrogen(H_(2))formation during olivine hydrothermal alteration.In experiments at 300℃ and 3.0 kbar with mixtures of olivine and 10 wt%silica,olivine was replaced by serpentine and talc.The proportions of serpentine and talc were determined according to standard curves based on infrared spectroscopy analyses.Around 6.5%serpentine and 12%talc were produced after an experimental duration of 7 days,which had no change after a longer period(14 days).Compared to the kinetics in silica-free systems,the rates of olivine hydrothermal alteration in experiments with 10 wt%silica are much lower.The overall reaction is:4.5Forsterite+5.5SiO_(2),aq+4H_(2)O=Serpentine+2Talc.With the addition of more silica(20 wt%and 40 wt%),olivine was transformed into talc.The rates of reaction were much faster,e.g.,for experiments with olivine and 20 wt%silica,43%of talc was produced after 14 days,which increased to 77%for experiments with 40 wt%silica over the same period.The overall reaction is:3Forsterite+5SiO_(2),aq+2H_(2)O=2Talc.In experiments at 400–505℃ and 3.0 kbar,the promoting effect of silica on olivine hydrothermal alteration was also observed,which is closely associated with a decrease in Gibbs free energies of olivine hydrothermal alteration.At 300℃ and 3.0 kbar,silica decreased H_(2)formed during olivine hydrothermal alteration by around an order of magnitude,resulting in an increase in oxygen fugacity.Based on measured H_(2),we calibrated oxygen fugacities,ranging from 0.96 to 3.41 log un

The high mortality of patients with lung squamous cell carcinoma(LUSC)results from metastasis rather than primary tumors,1 whereas the molecular pathogenesis of cancer metastasis remains poorly understood.PLAU encodes urokinase-type plasminogen activator(uPA)which is closely related to tumor diagnosis,treatment target,and prognosis of patients.2.3 We previously predicted that PLAU is a key gene negatively associated with overall survival by integrated multidimensional analyses of The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA)datasets from 504 samples of LUSC tumor tissues and 46 samples of adjacent non-tumorous lung tissues.4 However,whether the role of PLAU contributes to the metastasis of LUC remains unclear.Here,we analyzed the association between uPA levels and LUSC and found that uPA levels were associated with pathological variations in LUSC patients.
