lithium–sulfur(li–S)batteries promise high-energy-density potential to exceed the commercialized lithiumion batteries but suffer from limited cycling lifespan due to the side reactions between lithium polysulfides(liPSs)and li metal ***,a three-way electrolyte with ternary solvents is proposed to enable high-energy-density and long-cycling li–S pouch ***,ternary solvents composed of 1,2-dimethoxyethane,di-isopropyl sulfide,and 1,3,5-trioxane are employed to guarantee smooth cathode kinetics,inhibit the parasitic reactions,and construct a robust solid electrolyte interphase,*** cycling lifespan of li–S coin cells with 50μm li anodes and 4.0 mg cm^(−2) sulfur cathodes is prolonged from88 to 222 cycles using the three-way ***-heterogeneous solvation structure of liPSs and organic-rich solid electrolyte interphase are identified to improve the cycling stability of li metal ***,a 3.0 Ah-level li–S pouch cell with the three-way electrolyte realizes a high energy density of 405 Wh kg^(−1) and undergoes 27 *** affords a three-way electrolyte recipe for suppressing the side reactions of liPSs and inspires rational electrolyte design for practical high-energy-density and long-cycling li–S batteries.

Structural and functional insights into the 20-O-methyltransferase of SARS-CoV-2

A unique feature of coronaviruses is their utilization of self-encoded nonstructural protein 16(nsp16),20-Omethyltransferase(20-O-MTase),to cap their RNAs through ribose 20-O-methylation *** process is crucial for maintaining viral genome stability,facilitating efficient translation,and enabling immune *** considerable advances in the ultrastructure of SARS-CoV-2 nsp16/nsp10,insights into its molecular mechanism have so far been *** this study,we systematically characterized the 20-O-MTase activity of nsp16 in SARS-CoV-2,focusing on its dependence on nsp10 *** observed cross-reactivity between nsp16 and nsp10 in various coronaviruses due to a conserved interaction ***,a single residue substitution(K58T)in SARS-CoV-2 nsp10 restricted the functional activation of MERS-CoV ***,the cofactor nsp10 effectively enhanced the binding of nsp16 to the substrate RNA and the methyl donor Sadenosyl-L-methionine(SAM).Mechanistically,His-80,Lys-93,and Gly-94 of nsp10 interacted with Asp-102,Ser-105,and Asp-106 of nsp16,respectively,thereby effectively stabilizing the SAM binding ***-43 of nsp10 interacted with Lys-38 and Gly-39 of nsp16 to dynamically regulate the RNA binding pocket and facilitate precise binding of RNA to the nsp16/nsp10 *** assessing the conformational epitopes of nsp16/nsp10 complex,we further determined the critical residues involved in 20-O-MTase ***,we utilized an in vitro biochemical platform to screen potential inhibitors targeting 20-O-MTase ***,our results significantly enhance the understanding of viral 20-O methylation process and mechanism,providing valuable targets for antiviral drug development.

Global Dynamics of a Delayed HIV-1 Infection Model with Cell-to-cell Transmission, Humoral Immunity and Immune Impairment

In this paper, an HIV-1 infection model with intracellular delay, humoral immunity and immune impairment is investigated, in which both virus-to-cell infection and cell-to-cell transmission are *** basic reproduction ratio is calculated and the existence of feasible equilibria is established. By analyzing the distributions of roots of the corresponding characteristic equations, the local asymptotic stability of each of feasible equilibria is established. With the help of appropriate Lyapunov functionals and LaSalle’s invariance principle, it is proved that if the basic reproduction ratio is less than unity, the infection-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable, and the virus is eventually eliminated; if the basic reproduction ratio is greater than unity, the chronic-infection equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable. Finally, numerical simulations are carried out to illustrate the effects of some parameters on HIV-1 infection dynamics.

High-energy-density lithium metal batteries are the next-generation battery systems of choice,and replacing the flammable liquid electrolyte with a polymer solid-state electrolyte is a prominent conduct towards realizing the goal of high-safety and high-specific-energy ***,the inherent intractable problems of poor solid-solid contacts between the electrode/electrolyte and the growth of li dendrites hinder their practical *** in-situ solidification has demonstrated a variety of advantages in the application of polymer electrolytes and artificial interphase,including the design of integrated polymer electrolytes and asymmetric polymer electrolytes to enhance the compatibility of solid–solid contact and compatibility between various electrolytes,and the construction of artificial interphase between the li anode and cathode to suppress the formation of li dendrites and to enhance the high-voltage stability of polymer *** review firstly elaborates the history of in-situ solidification for solid-state batteries,and then focuses on the synthetic methods of solidified ***,the recent progress of in-situ solidification technology from both the design of polymer electrolytes and the construction of artificial interphase is summarized,and the importance of in-situ solidification technology in enhancing safety is ***,prospects,emerging challenges,and practical applications of in-situ solidification are envisioned.

The experimental realization of Rydberg dressing technology in ultracold atomic systems provides another superior platform for studying novel states of matter and macroscopic quantum *** this work,based on the mean-field theory,we have investigated the ground-state phases of a two-component Bose–Einstein condensate with Rydberg interaction and confined in a toroidal *** effects of the Rydberg interaction and external potential,especially the Rydberg blockade radius,on the ground-state structure of such a system have been investigated in full parameter *** results show that the Rydberg blockade radius,which can be regarded as another controllable parameter,can be used to obtain a variety of ground-state *** interestingly,it is found that for weak Rydberg interactions,the Rydberg blockade radius breaks the spontaneous rotational symmetry of the system,leading to the formation of a discrete unit cell *** strongly interacting cases,it can be used to realize different orders of discrete rotational symmetry breaking.

Path Planning for AUVs Based on Improved APF-AC Algorithm

With the increase in ocean exploration activities and underwater development,the autonomous underwater vehicle(AUV)has been widely used as a type of underwater automation equipment in the detection of underwater ***,nowadays AUVs generally have drawbacks such as weak endurance,low intelligence,and poor detection *** research and implementation of path-planning methods are the premise of AUVs to achieve actual *** improve the underwater operation ability of the AUV,this paper studies the typical problems of path-planning for the ant colony algorithm and the artificial potential field *** response to the limitations of a single algorithm,an optimization scheme is proposed to improve the artificial potential field ant colony(APF-AC)*** with traditional ant colony and comparative algorithms,the APF-AC reduced the path length by 1.57%and 0.63%(in the simple environment),8.92%and 3.46%(in the complex environment).The iteration time has been reduced by approximately 28.48%and 18.05%(in the simple environment),18.53%and 9.24%(in the complex environment).Finally,the improved APF-AC algorithm has been validated on the AUV platform,and the experiment is consistent with the *** APF-AC algorithm can effectively reduce the underwater operation time and overall power consumption of the AUV,and shows a higher safety.

Towards adaptable synchrotron image restoration pipeline

Synchrotron microscopic data commonly suffer from poor image quality with degraded resolution incurred by instrumentation defects or experimental conditions. Image restoration methods are often applied to recover the reduced resolution, providing improved image details that can greatly facilitate scientific discovery. Among these methods, deconvolution techniques are straightforward, yet either require known prior information or struggle to tackle large experimental data. Deep learning (DL)-based super-resolution (SR) methods handle large data well, however data scarcity and model generalizability are problematic. In addition, current image restoration methods are mostly offline and inefficient for many beamlines where high data volumes and data complexity issues are encountered. To overcome these limitations, an online image-restoration pipeline that adaptably selects suitable algorithms and models from a method repertoire is promising. In this study, using both deconvolution and pretrained DL-based SR models, we show that different restoration efficacies can be achieved on different types of synchrotron experimental data. We describe the necessity, feasibility, and significance of constructing such an image-restoration pipeline for future synchrotron experiments.
