Observation and verification of surface electrical explosion driven by radial-distributed pulsed current in laboratory lightning strike test

The laboratory lightning test is essential for assessing the effectiveness of lightning strike protection(LSP).Particularly,direct lightning strike damage can be performed with pulsed current injection into the *** paper focuses on the dynamic process of arc plasma and shock wave behaviour in the vicinity of the‘strike’point.A rod-plate discharge load is built for testing aluminium and coated plate under 40-kA-level pulsed *** visualisation of the luminous discharge plasma and its flow field via high-speed photography(from different angles)is meticulously designed and implemented,synchronised with electro-physical *** results indicate some new mechanisms for lightning strike damage,apart from the impulse heat loading from the thermal *** transient current injection through the arc root concentrates on a thin skin layer(skin-depth effect),with the radial-attenuated current density,driving asynchronously electrical explosions on the plate *** inhomogeneous Joule heating of the plate leads to outwardly propagating phase transition and shock wave along the conductive *** addition,the electro-thermal instability is observed and regarded as the seed of irregular erosion *** information reveals two different plasma states of main discharge arc channel and adjacent surface electrical *** correspondence of the physical mechanism of electrical explosion and optical radiation is *** images for different regions depict erosion characteristics and summarise influencing factors,further confirming the mechanism *** research clarifies the role of skin-depth effect in transaction arc erosion for electrode,complements the electrical explosion theory with unevenly distributed current and helps optimise strategies of LSP.

Audio-guided self-supervised learning for disentangled visual speech representations

In this paper, we propose a novel two-branch framework to learn the disentangled visual speech representations based on two particular observations. Its main idea is to introduce the audio signal to guide the learning of speech-relevant cues and introduce a bottleneck to restrict the speech-irrelevant branch from learning high-frequency and fine-grained speech cues. Experiments on both the word-level and sentence-level audio-visual speech datasets LRW and LRS2-BBC show the effectiveness. Our future work is to explore more explicit auxiliary tasks and constraints beyond the reconstruction task of the speech-relevant and irrelevant branch to improve further its ability of capturing speech cues in the video. Meanwhile, it’s also a nice try to combine multiple types of knowledge representations [10] to further boost the obtained speech epresentations, which is also left for the future work.

The development of low-cost,earth-abundant and environmentally benign transition metal catalysts,which can catalyze multiple different types of asymmetric reactions,is an important objective in mod-ern asymmetric *** we demonstrate that a chiral Ni/P-Phos catalyst achieves three types of asymmetric reactions:allenylic substitution of racemic allenic ethers,1,4-hydroalkylation of prochiral 1,3-enynes and double alkylation of newly designed enynyl ether *** methods complement each other and produce various axially chiral allene derivatives bearing a pyrazolidine-3,5-dione unit,which is widely present in drugs and biologically active molecules with versatile pharmacological activities.

Ripening and rot:How ripening processes influence disease susceptibility in fleshy fruits

Fleshy fruits become more susceptible to pathogen infection when they ripen;for example,changes in cell wall properties related to softening make it easier for pathogens to infect *** need for high-quality fruit has driven extensive research on improving pathogen resistance in important fruit crops such as tomato(Solanum lycopersicum).In this review,we summarize current progress in understanding how changes in fruit properties during ripening affect infection by *** changes affect physical barriers that limit pathogen entry,such as the fruit epidermis and its cuticle,along with other defenses that limit pathogen growth,such as preformed and induced defense *** plant immune system also protects ripening fruit by recognizing pathogens and initiating defense responses involving reactive oxygen species production,mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling cascades,and jasmonic acid,salicylic acid,ethylene,and abscisic acid *** phytohormones regulate an intricate web of transcription factors(TFs)that activate resistance mechanisms,including the expression of pathogenesis-related *** tomato,ripening regulators,such as RIPENING INHIBITOR and NON_RIPENING,not only regulate ripening but also influence fruit defenses against ***,members of the ETHYLENE RESPONSE FACTOR(ERF)family play pivotal and distinct roles in ripening and defense,with different members being regulated by different *** also discuss the interaction of ripening-related and defense-related TFs with the Mediator transcription *** the ripening processes in climacteric and non-climacteric fruits share many similarities,these processes have broad applications across fruiting *** research on the individual contributions of ERFs and other TFs will inform efforts to diminish disease susceptibility in ripe fruit,satisfy the growing demand for high-quality fruit and decrease food waste and related economic losses.

PURP: A Scalable System for Predicting Short-Term Urban TrafficFlow Based on license Plate Recognition Data

Accurate and efficient urban traffic flow prediction can help drivers identify road traffic conditions in real-time,consequently helping them avoid congestion and accidents to a certain ***,the existing methods for real-time urban traffic flow prediction focus on improving the model prediction accuracy or efficiency while ignoring the training efficiency,which results in a prediction system that lacks the scalability to integrate real-time traffic flow into the training *** conduct accurate and real-time urban traffic flow prediction while considering the latest historical data and avoiding time-consuming online retraining,herein,we propose a scalable system for Predicting short-term URban traffic flow in real-time based on license Plate recognition data(PURP).First,to ensure prediction accuracy,PURP constructs the spatio-temporal contexts of traffic flow prediction from license Plate Recognition(LPR)data as effective ***,to utilize the recent data without retraining the model online,PURP uses the nonparametric method k-Nearest Neighbor(namely KNN)as the prediction framework because the KNN can efficiently identify the top-k most similar spatio-temporal contexts and make predictions based on these contexts without time-consuming model retraining *** experimental results show that PURP retains strong prediction efficiency as the prediction period increases.

Record-breaking High-temperature Outlook for 2023: An Assessment Based on the China Global Merged Temperature(CMST) Dataset

According to the latest version(version 2.0) of the China global Merged Surface Temperature(CMST2.0) dataset, the global mean surface temperature(GMST) in the first half of 2023 reached its third warmest value since the period of instrumental observation began, being only slightly lower than the values recorded in 2016 and 2020, and historically record-breaking GMST emerged from May to July 2023. Further analysis also indicates that if the surface temperature in the last five months of 2023 approaches the average level of the past five years, the annual average surface temperature anomaly in 2023 of approximately 1.26°C will break the previous highest surface temperature, which was recorded in 2016of approximately 1.25°C(both values relative to the global pre-industrialization period, i.e., the average value from 1850 to1900). With El Ni?o triggering a record-breaking hottest July, record-breaking average annual temperatures will most likely become a reality in 2023.

High-performance self-powered GaN/PEDOT:PSS hybrid heterojunction UV photodetector for optical communication

Self-powered ultraviolet photodetectors(UVPDs)provide great possibility for the next-generation energy conservation optical communication technology;while the high photodetection performance at zero bias is still a tremendous ***,ntype GaN film with Si-doping concentration of~1018cm^(-3)and p-type organic PEDOT:PSS were adopted to construct a planar hybrid heterojunction via the simple spin-coating *** from typical type-Ⅱenergy band alignment and giant photovoltaic effect at GaN/PEDOT:PSS inorganic-organic interface,the fabricated UVPD achieved excellent self-powered photoelectrical properties in dual-band with large R of 0.96 A/W(2.8 A/W),superior D*of 5.7×1012Jones(1.7×10^(13)Jones),prominent EQE of 325%(1371%),high on/off ratio of 9.65×10^(3)(6.15×10^(3))and fast rise/decay time of 60.7/124.5 ms(30.9/26.7 ms)for UVA(UVC)band,as well as outstanding UV/visible rejection ratio and great detection *** as an optical signal receiver,this designed self-powered UVPD decoded a message of“NJUPT”from a simple optical communication *** results open a new avenue for GaN/PEDOT:PSS heterojunction in UV communications and related applications.

Objective:To explore the potential mechanism of lysionotin in treating ***:First,target prediction based on Bernoulli Naïve Bayes profiling and pathway enrichment was used to predict the biological activity of *** binding between 5-lipoxygenase(5-LO)and lysionotin was detected by surface plasmon resonance(SPR)and molecular docking,and the inhibitory effects of lysionotin on 5-LO and proliferation of glioma were determined using enzyme inhibition assay in vitro and cell viability analysis,***,the pharmaceutical effect of lysionotin was explored by cell survival rate analysis and liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry(LC-MS/MS).The protein expression,intracellular calcium ion concentration and cytoskeleton detection were revealed by Western blot,flow cytometry and fluorescence labeling,***:Target prediction and pathway enrichment revealed that lysionotin inhibited 5-LO,a key enzyme involved in the arachidonic acid metabolism pathway,to inhibit the proliferation of *** docking results demonstrated that 5-LO can be binding to lysionotin through hydrogen bonds,forming bonds with His600,Gln557,Asn554,and *** analysis further confirmed the interaction between 5-LO and ***,enzyme inhibition assay in vitro and cell survival rate analysis revealed that 50%inhibition concentration of lysionotin and the median effective concentration of lysionotin were 90 and 16.58µmol/L,respectively,and the results of LC-MS/MS showed that lysionotin inhibited the production of 5S-hydroperoxy-eicosatetraenoic acid(Plioma cells well(P<0.01)and inhibit their *** blot analysis demonstrated that lysionotin can inhibit the expression of 5-LO(P<0.05)and downstream leukotriene B4 receptor(P<0.01).In addition,the results showed that lysionotin affected intracellular calcium ion concentration by inh
