Developing high-performing non-noble transition metal catalysts for H_(2) evolution from chemical hydrogen storage materials is of great significance for the hydrogen economy system, yet challenging. Herein,we present for the first time that anomalous metastable hexagonal close-packed Ni nanoparticles induced by heteroatom N doping encapsulated in carbon(N-hcp-Ni/C) can exhibit admirable catalytic performance for ammonia borane(AB) dehydrogenation, prominently outperforming conventional fcc Ni counterpart with similar morphology and favorably presenting the state-of-the-art level.Comprehensive experimental and theoretical studies unravel that unusual hcp phase engineering of Ni together with N doping could induce charge redistribution and modulate electronic structure, thereby facilitating H_(2)O adsorption and expediting H_(2)O dissociation(rate-determining step). As a result, AB dehydrogenation can be substantially boosted with the assistance of N-hcp-Ni/C. Our proposed strategy highlights that unconventional crystal phase engineering coupled with non-metal heteroatom doping is a promising avenue to construct advanced transition metal catalysts for future renewable energy technologies.

BACKGROUND Depression is a common and serious psychological condition,which seriously affects individual well-being and functional ability.Traditional treatment methods include drug therapy and psychological counseling;however,these methods have different degrees of side effects and limitations.In recent years,nonconvulsive electrotherapy(NET)has attracted increasing attention as a noninvasive treatment method.However,the clinical efficacy and potential mechanism of NET on depression are still unclear.We hypothesized that NET has a positive clinical effect in the treatment of depression,and may have a regulatory effect on serum inflammatory factors during treatment.AIM To assess the effects of NET on depression and analyze changes in serum inflammatory factors.METHODS This retrospective study enrolled 140 patients undergoing treatment for depression between May 2017 and June 2022,the observation group that received a combination of mindfulness-based stress reduction(MBSR)and NET treatment(n=70)and the control group that only received MBSR therapy(n=70).The clinical effectiveness of the treatment was evaluated by assessing various factors,including the Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD)-17,self-rating idea of suicide scale(SSIOS),Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI),and levels of serum inflammatory factors before and after 8 wk of treatment.The quality of life scores between the two groups were compared.Comparisons were made using t and χ^(2) tests.RESULTS After 8 wk of treatment,the observation group exhibited a 91.43%overall effectiveness rate which was higher than that of the control group which was 74.29%(64 vs 52,χ^(2)=7.241;P<0.05).The HAMD,SSIOS,and PSQI scores showed a significant decrease in both groups.Moreover,the observation group had lower scores than the control group(10.37±2.04 vs 14.02±2.16,t=10.280;1.67±0.28 vs 0.87±0.12,t=21.970;5.29±1.33 vs 7.94±1.35,t=11.700;P both<0.001).Additionally,there was a notable decrease in the IL-2,IL-1β,and IL-6 in both groups after treatment.Furthermore,the observation

Aging is a natural physiological process with various challenges, related to the loss of homeostasis within the organism, which is not a disease, but a significantly strong risk factor for multiple diseases, including myocardial infarction, stroke, some age-related cancers, macular degeneration, osteoarthritis, neurodegeneration, and many others. In the body, the main manifestation of aging is cellular aging, which exists within tissues and has a local or global impact on tissue function. However, the lack of effective aging detection tools has always been an issue that cannot be ignored in the field of aging research. Therefore,it is necessary to construct a non-invasive tool for in vivo detection of aging. Here, we show that the photoacoustic probe(LGAL), which has peak excitation and emission wavelengths in the near-infrared optical window, binds in vivo and at high contrast to the hallmark of aging, and allows for the microscopic imaging of aging through the intact mice. Firstly, this tool LGAL has been successfully applied to detect senescence in cells, displaying stronger photoacoustic signals than normal cells. Then, by using the photoacoustic probe, the blood vessels and tissues inside the mice can be visualized. Young and elderly mice exhibit varying intensities of photoacoustic signals, marking the first time a probe has been used to explore the aging of blood vessels and tissues inside the mice. Finally, we monitored the changes in the degree of aging during tumor treatment under photoacoustic(PA) imaging for the first time. As the treatment time increased, the degree of aging of the tumor gradually deepened. We expect the powerful tool could be a noninvasive and powerful tool for the study of aging biology.

The structure of a power energy system is becoming more distributed than before.It becomes challenging to manage such a system in a centralized way,because a central authority may not exist or may not be trusted by all parties.Blockchain is a promising tool to address this challenge,by enabling trusted collaboration in the absence of a trusted central authority.Its use in the energy sector has been pioneered by several pilot projects.However,to date the energy sector has not seen large-scale deployment of blockchain,partly because the founders of those pilot projects,the public,and utilities have not reached consensus on the values and limitations of blockchain in energy.This perspective aims to bridge this gap.First,the philosophy and unique values of blockchain are discussed.Second,some promising blockchain-based applications in energy systems are presented.Third,some common misunderstandings of blockchain in energy are discussed.Last,some frequently-asked questions from utilities are discussed.Hopefully this perspective can help advance large-scale deployment of blockchain in energy systems.

AIM: To evaluate the efficacy of intralesional radiofrequency ablation in the treatment of periorbital syringomas. METHODS: We tried the intralesional radiofrequency ablation for 64 patients with periorbital syringomas from 2007 to 2011. The operation was performed under 2.5 loupe magnifications. The handpiece was assembled with a needle electrode and connected to the radiofrequency ablation apparatus. The electrode was then inserted into the target lesions in dermis and delivering injury to the base of these tumors. Results were assessed clinically by comparing pre- and post-treatment photographs and patient satisfaction rates. RESULTS: Clinical improvement increased with each subsequent treatment session. The percent of patients whose clinic improvement grade were >= 3 after each session was respectively 71.9% (Session1), 83.3% (Session2), and 100% (Session3). The statistical results indicated the concordance of the clinical assessment and the satisfaction level of patients (kappa=0.78 of the session1; kappa=0.82 of the session2). The majority of patients had good or excellent cosmetic results. Postoperatively, there were no permanent side effects or recurrences. CONCLUSION: As a new technique of minimally invasion, the intralesional radiofrequency ablation was found to be an effective, inexpensive, highly precise and safe way of treating periorbital syringomas.

Let D be any division ring with an involution,Hn （D） be the space of all n × n hermitian matrices over D. Two hermitian matrices A and B are said to be adjacent if rank（A - B） = 1. It is proved that if φ is a bijective map from Hn（D）（n ≥ 2） to itself such that φ preserves the adjacency, then φ^-1 also preserves the adjacency. Moreover, if Hn（D） ≠J3（F2）, then φ preserves the arithmetic distance. Thus, an open problem posed by Wan Zhe-Xian is answered for geometry of symmetric and hermitian matrices.

Gold-tube pyrolysis experiments were performed on two Athabasca oil sand bitumens at 300℃to 525℃with 2℃/h rate and 25℃step under 50 MPa.Pyrolysis temperature of 425℃is critical for weight loss of bulk bitumen and hydrocarbon generation and destruction.Polar compounds are the main source of saturated and aromatic hydrocarbon,gas and coke fractions.Molecular compositions in pyrolyzates vary systematically with increasing pyrolysis temperatures.High molecular weight n-alkanes(C26^+) are gradually destructed during pyrolysis due to thermal cracking.Moderate molecular weight n-alkanes(C21-C25)show the highest thermal stability in designed pyrolysis temperatures.The loss of low molecular weight n-alkanes(C20^-)might be caused by volatilization during pyrolysis,which may alter commonly used molecular parameters such as∑n-C20^-/∑n-C21^+,Pr/n-C17 and Ph/n-C18.Aromatic hydrocarbons were generated from 300 to 425℃,then condensation and dealkylation have been initiated at 425℃as evidenced by decreased summed alkylnaphthalenes to alkylphenanthrenes ratios and increased unsubstituted aromatics to substituted homologs ratios in higher temperatures.The occurrence of anthracene and benz[a]anthracene in pyrolysates indicates pyrogenic origin,while fluoranthene shows unexpected behaviors during pyrolysis.Ratios derived from them are not always reliable for pyrogenic source input diagnosis in environmental samples.

This paper studies the fundamental limit of semantic communications over the discrete memoryless channel.We consider the scenario to send a semantic source consisting of an observation state and its corresponding semantic state,both of which are recovered at the receiver.To derive the performance limitation,we adopt the semantic rate-distortion function(SRDF)to study the relationship among the minimum compression rate,observation distortion,semantic distortion,and channel capacity.For the case with unknown semantic source distribution,while only a set of the source samples is available,we propose a neural-network-based method by leveraging the generative networks to learn the semantic source distribution.Furthermore,for a special case where the semantic state is a deterministic function of the observation,we design a cascade neural network to estimate the SRDF.For the case with perfectly known semantic source distribution,we propose a general Blahut-Arimoto(BA)algorithm to effectively compute the SRDE.Finally,experimental results validate our proposed algorithms for the scenarios with ideal Gaussian semantic source and some practical datasets.

Selenium(Se)is an essential micronutrient for lives.Indigenous microbial communities play an important role on Se geochemistry in soils.In this study,the microbial community composition and functions of 53 soil samples were investigated using high-throughput sequencing.Samples were divided into 3 groups with different farming types based on the measured geochemical parameters and microbial functional structures.Results indicated that putative Se related bacteria Bacillus,Dyella,Paenibacillus,Burkholderia and Brevibacillus were dominant in dryland plantation soils which were characterized with higher available Se and low contents of H_(2)O,total organic carbon(TOC),NH_(4)^(+) and NO_(2)^(-).In contrast,the putative denitrifier Pseudomonas dominated in flooded paddy soils with higher TOC,NO_(3)^(-) and organic Se,whereas genera Rhizobium,Nitrosospira,and Geobacter preferred woodland soils with higher oxidation-reduction potential(ORP),pH,NH_(4)^(+) and Fe.Farming patterns resulted in distinct geochemical parameters including moisture,pH,ORP,TOC,and contents of soluble Fe,NO_(2)^(-) and NH_(4)^(+),shaping the microbial communities,which in turn affected Se forms in soils.This study provides a valuable insight into understanding of Se biogeochemistry in soils and prospective strategy for Se-rich agriculture production.
