Hyperoside protects the blood-brain barrier from neurotoxicity of amyloid beta 1–42

Mounting evidence indicates that amyloid β protein（Aβ） exerts neurotoxicity by disrupting the blood-brain barrier（BBB） in Alzheimer＇s disease. Hyperoside has neuroprotective effects both in vitro and in vivo against Aβ. Our previous study found that hyperoside suppressed Aβ1-42-induced leakage of the BBB, however, the mechanism remains unclear. In this study, bEnd.3 cells were pretreated with 50, 200, or 500 μM hyperoside for 2 hours, and then exposed to Aβ1-42 for 24 hours. Cell viability was determined using 3-（4,5-dimethyl-2-thiazolyl）-2,5-diphenyl-2-H-tetrazolium bromide assay. Flow cytometry and terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated d UTP nick-end labeling assay were used to analyze cell apoptosis. Western blot assay was carried out to analyze expression levels of Bax, Bcl-2, cytochrome c, caspase-3, caspse-8, caspase-9, caspase-12, occludin, claudin-5, zonula occludens-1, matrix metalloproteinase-2（MMP-2）, and MMP-9. Exposure to Aβ1-42 alone remarkably induced bEnd.3 cell apoptosis; increased ratios of cleaved caspase-9/caspase-9, Bax/Bcl-2, cleav ed caspase-8/caspase-8, and cleaved caspase-12/caspase-12; increased expression of cytochrome c and activity of caspase-3; diminished levels of zonula occludens-1, claudin-5, and occludin; and increased levels of MMP-2 and MMP-9. However, hyperoside pretreatment reversed these changes in a dose-dependent manner. Our findings confirm that hyperoside alleviates fibrillar Aβ1-42-induced BBB disruption, thus offering a feasible therapeutic application in Alzheimer＇s disease.

In this paper,a multi-bus distributed Power Conditioning Unit(PCU)is proposed for the Space Solar Power Station with large scale photovoltaic(PV)array and power levels reaching MW *** this unit,there are multiple independent PV *** each PV array,there are multiple independent PV *** this paper,a V-P droop control method with adaptive droop coefficient is proposed,which modifies the droop intercept based on the bus voltage deviation and the power per unit value of the PV *** method ensures the accuracy of bus voltage and achieves proportional distribution of power between PV arrays based on the proposed topology structure in this *** the load changes or the output power of the PV array fluctuates,this method can ensure that power is distributed *** principle and control method of the proposed droop control method is analyzed in this *** effectiveness of the method is verified through MATLAB/Simulink simulation and *** and experimental results show that the proposed method can achieve power distributed proportionally when load changes and PV output power fluctuates,reduce bus voltage error caused by line impedance and differences in rated power of different PV arrays,and improve the performance of PV power generation system applied to space.

Improving mechanical properties and high-temperature oxidation of press hardened steel by adding Cr and Si

This work investigated the effect of Cr and Si on the mechanical properties and oxidation resistance of press hardened *** indicated that the microstructure of the Cr-Si micro-alloyed press hardened steel consisted of lath martensite,M_(23)C_(6)carbides,and retained *** retained austenite and carbides are responsible for the increase in elongation of the micro-alloyed *** addition,after oxidation at 930℃for 5 min,the thickness of the oxide scales on the Cr-Si micro-alloyed press hardened steel is less than 5μm,much thinner than 45.50μm-thick oxide scales on *** oxide scales of the Cr-Si micro-alloyed steel are composed of Fe_(2)O_(3),Fe_(3)O_(4),mixed spinel oxide(FeCr_(2)O_(4)and Fe_(2)SiO_(4)),and amorphous SiO_(2).Adding Cr and Si significantly reduces the thickness of the oxide scales and prevents the generation of the FeO *** to the increase of spinel FeCr_(2)O_(4)and Fe_(2)SiO_(4)phase in the inner oxide scale and the amorphous SiO_(2)close to the substrate,the oxidation resistance of the Cr-Si micro-alloyed press hardened steel is improved.

Comparative analysis of thermodynamic and mechanical responses between underground hydrogen storage and compressed air energy storage in lined rock caverns

Underground hydrogen storage(UHS)and compressed air energy storage(CAES)are two viable largescale energy storage technologies for mitigating the intermittency of wind and solar ***,it is meaningful to compare the properties of hydrogen and air with typical thermodynamic storage *** study employs a multi-physical coupling model to compare the operations of CAES and UHS,integrating gas thermodynamics within caverns,thermal conduction,and mechanical deformation around rock *** thermodynamic responses are validated using additional simulations and the field test *** and pressure variations of air and hydrogen within rock caverns exhibit similarities under both adiabatic and diabatic simulation *** reaches higher temperature and pressure following gas charging stage compared to air,and the ideal gas assumption may lead to overestimation of gas temperature and *** steel lining of CAES,the sealing layer(fibre-reinforced plastic FRP)in UHS is prone to deformation but can effectively mitigates stress in the sealing *** CAES,the first principal stress on the surface of the sealing layer and concrete lining is tensile stress,whereas UHS exhibits compressive stress in the same *** present research can provide references for the selection of energy storage methods.

Flexible incidence angle scanning surface plasmon resonance microscopy for morphology detection with enhanced contrast

Surface plasmon resonance microscopy(SPRM)has been massively applied for near-field optical measurement,sensing,and imaging because of its high detection sensitivity,nondestructive,noninvasive,wide-field,and label-free imaging ***,the transverse propagation characteristic of the surface plasmon wave generated during surface plasmon resonance(SPR)leads to notable“tail”patterns in the SPR image,which severely deteriorates the image ***,we propose an incidence angle scanning method in SPRM to obtain a resonance angle image with exceptional contrast that significantly mitigates the adverse effects of“tail”*** resonance angle image provides the complete morphology of the analyzed samples and enables two-dimensional quantification,which is incapable in conventional *** effectiveness of the method was experimentally verified using photoresist square samples with different sizes and two-dimensional materials with various geometric *** edges of samples were fully reconstructed and a maximum fivefold increase in the image contrast has been *** method offers a convenient way to enhance the SPRM imaging capabilities with low cost and stable performance,which greatly expands the applications of SPRM in label-free detection,imaging,and quantification.

Improving flangeability of multiphase steel by increasing microstructural homogeneity

Multiphase microstructure significantly increases the strength,usually at the expense of flangeability because of lacking microstructure *** further improve the strength-flangeability of multiphase steel,the microstructural homogeneity was advanced by adjusting the hard martensite/austenite(M/A)*** strength-flangeability was measured via uniaxial tensile tests and hole expansion *** microstructures were characterized using a scanning electron microscope equipped with an electron backscatter diffraction detector and a transmission electron *** tests were supplementally used to quantitatively reveal the microstructural homogeneity of the *** show that the adjusted multiphase steel achieves an excellent ultimate tensile strength(~800 MPa)and flangeability(~135%hole expansion ratio).A promising homogeneous multiphase microstructure was obtained by controlling undercooled austenite transformed at about 600℃.This microstructure consists of soft polygonal ferrite,blocky bainitic ferrite,and hard M/A *** volume fraction of M/A islands is around 5%,and the average size is less than l *** nanoindentation analysis indicated that the participation of M/A islands impressively influenced the microstructural *** strain partition and better mechanical compatibility were present in the adjusted multiphase steel since the plasticity initiation started late,which resulted in a positive ***,avoiding M/A islands distributed in the chain along the rolling direction on the matrix hindered the possibility of voids coalescing into cracks and stabilized the flanging performance.

Inferring network structures from available data has attracted much interest in network science;however,in many realistic networks,only some of the nodes are perceptible while others are hidden,making it a challenging *** this work,we develop a method for reconstructing the network with hidden nodes and links,taking account of fast-varying noise and time-delay *** calculating the correlations of available data with different derivative orders for multiple pairs of accessible nodes,analyzing and integrating the relationships between different correlations,and defining diverse hidden-node-related reconstruction motifs,we can effectively identify the hidden nodes and hidden links in the network.

Multidimensional coupled structure-activity relationship models for replacement of SF_(6)

Computational screening of single gases to replace SF_(6)for electrical insulation has been challenged by the difficulty in combining various mutually exclusive properties especially for dielectric performance with liquefaction and environmental *** reveal the inherent correlations between dielectric strength(Er),boiling point(Tb),and global warming potential(GWP)of dielectric materials,a coupled structure-activity relationship(CSAR)model has been proposed for the first *** means of the generic descriptors,as deduced from the electrostatic potentials,and the specific descriptors,as introduced from the respective microscopic mechanisms,the complex interdependence between Er,Tb,and GWP of the insulation gases is quantitatively characterised by the 3-D coupling *** coupling mechanism for the right balance of properties is uncovered in terms of the first-principle *** CSAR model outperforms the previous SAR models in predicting Er,Tb,and GWP simultaneously in a self-consistent *** importantly,the concept of CSAR could be extended readily to any multidimensional macroscopic *** replacement compounds have been identified tentatively to be the promising candidates to replace SF_(6)using the CSAR model.

Aiming at the problem of energy storage unit failure in the spring operating mechanism of low voltage circuit breakers(LVCBs).A fault diagnosis algorithm based on an improved Sparrow Search Algorithm(ISSA)optimized Backpropagation Neural Network(BPNN)is proposed to improve the operational safety of *** the 1.5kV/4000A/75kA LVCB as an *** to the current operating characteristics of the energy storage motor,fault characteristics are extracted based on Empirical Wavelet Transform(EWT).Traditional BPNN has problems such as difficulty adjusting network weights and thresholds,being sensitive to initial weights,and quickly falling into local optimal *** Sparrow Search Algorithm(SSA)with self-adjusting weight factors combined with bidirectional mutations is added to optimize the selection of BPNN *** results show that the ISSA-BPNN can accurately and quickly distinguish six conditions of motor voltage reduction:motor voltage increase,motor voltage decrease,energy storage spring stuck,transmission gear stuck,regular state and energy storage spring not *** is suitable for fault diagnosis and detection of the energy storage part of LVCB.
