AIM:To compare analysis of the impact of high altitude on corneal endothelial cells,and the prognosis in patients with cataract ***:Totally 265 plateau patients with cataract surgeries performed between January 2019 and July 2022(average altitude=3000 m),and 524 plain patients with cataract surgeries performed between January 2020 and July 2022 were *** propensity score matching(PSM)method was applied to match the basic information of patients in both regions on a 1:1 *** endothelial cell density(ECD),coefficient of variation(CV),hexagonal cell ratio(HEX),duration of surgery,and pre-and postoperative visual acuity(VA)were compared retrospectively,and correlation tests were ***:Totally 223 pairs have been matched *** HEX in the plateau group was higher than that in the plain group(61.95%±6.191%vs 44.91%±6.829%,P0.1).The pre-and postoperative VA of patients with cataract surgeries in the plateau group were lower(1.40±0.610 vs 0.71±0.514,Plial parameters(P>0.05),while the post-operative VA was significantly related to the pre-operative VA and the duration of surgery(Plial cells,but may lead to the compensatory increase of their *** plateau patients,no significant associations are found between the poor VA and the corneal endothelial functions early after cataract surgeries.

Copper/liquid microcapsule composite coatings with polyvinyl alcohol （PVA）, gelatin or methyl cellulose （MC） as shell materials were prepared by electrodeposition. The influence of shell materials on the corrosion resistance of the composite coatings in 0.1 M H2SO4 was investigated by means of electrochemical techniques, scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, and energy dispersion spectrometry （EDS）. The results show that the participation of microcapsules can enhance the corrosion resistance of the composite coatings compared with the traditional copper layer. Based on the analysis of electrochemical test results, the release ways of microcapsules were deduced. Gelatin and MC as the shell materials of microcapsules are easy to release quickly in the composite coating. On the contrary, the releasing speed of PVA microcapsules is relatively slow due to their characteristics.

A series of 2-[1-（2-formylamido-3-phenylpropionyloxy）alkyl]-1,4-dihydroxy-9,10-anthraquinone（2FPADHAQ） derivatives was designed and *** antitumor activities were tested against L1210 tumor cells and P388 mouse leukemic tumor cells in vitro and in ICR mice bearing sarcoma 180 cells in ***,the introduction of 2-formylamido-3-phenyl-propanoic acid（2-FPPA） into the C-2-alkyl side chain C＇-1 hydroxy group in 2-（1-hydroxyalkyl）-1,4-dihydroxy-9,10-anthraquinones（2-HDHAQ） enhanced the antitumor activity compared with the starting materials.2-FPADHAQ with alkyl chains longer than the pentyl group had negligible activity,whereas compounds 2b,2c,2d and 2e possessing shorter chains demonstrated moderate cytotoxic activity[50% effective dose（ED 50） of L1210 and P388 are 2.61―4.75 and 5.84―8.74 μg/mL],whereas compound 2l with an aromatic system showed strong cytotoxic activity.T/C（%） values[（average survival days in the test group）/（average survival days in the control group）×100%] also show that the introduction of 2-FPPA into the side chain of 2-HDHAQ enhanced antitumor *** data suggest that the introduction of an amino acid into the starting material may increase its affinity for DNA or its selectivity for proliferating cancer cells.

Human mesenchymal stem cells (HMSCs) have emerged as a promising cell type for tissue repopulat-ing and for use as ex vivo gene delivery vehicles. Herpes simplex virus-1 (HSV-1) possesses many vector features, which make it especially suitable for HMSC applications. Here we performed real-time RT-PCR to detect the level of mature microRNA encoded by the HSV-1 latency-associated transcript (microRNA-LAT) in HMSCs cytoplasm with a specific stem loop reverse primer. Three small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) were chemically synthesized towards microRNA-LAT, TGF-β1 and SMAD3. The results demonstrate that HSV-1 and microRNA-LAT prevented HMSCs from undergoing cisplatin-induced apoptosis. In comparison with cells only treated with cisplatin, the apoptosis phenomenon with HSV-1 and microRNA-LAT were markedly reduced. The apoptosis rates of these two groups were both lower (Pling pathway components were by these means knocked down. Moreover, the levels of the mature microRNA-LAT were decreased in cis-platin-treated HMSCs. In conclusion, HSV-1 and microRNA-LAT exert their anti-apoptotic effect on HMSCs by down-regulation of the TGF-β signalling pathway. Thus HSV-1, having anti-apoptotic effect naturally encoded in its microRNA-LAT, is a good candidate to be developed for HMSC vector.

Characterization of Interspecific Hybrids Between Oryza sativa L, and Three Wild Rice Species of China by Genomic In Situ Hybridization

In the genus Oryza, interspecific hybrids are useful bridges for transferring the desired genes from wild species to cultivated rice （Oryza sativa L.）. In the present study, hybrids between O. sativa （AA genome） and three Chinese wild rices, namely O. rufipogon （AA genome）, O. officinalis （CC genome）, and O. meyeriana （GG genome）, were produced. Agricultural traits of the F1 hybrids surveyed were intermediate between their parents and appreciably resembled wild rice parents. Except for the O. sativa × O. rufipogon hybrid, the other F1 hybrids were completely sterile. Genomic in situ hybridization （GISH） was used for hybrid verification. Wild rice genomic DNAs were used as probes and cultivated rice DNA was used as a block. With the exception of O. rufipogon chromosomes, this method distinguished the other two wild rice and cultivated rice chromosomes at the stage of mitotic metaphase with different blocking ratios. The results suggest that a more distant phylogenetic relationship exists between O. meyeriana and O. sativa and that O. rufipogon and O. sativa share a high degree of sequence homology. The average mitotic chromosome length of O. officinalis and O. meyeriana was 1.25- and 1.51-fold that of O. sativa, respectively. 4＇,6＇-Diamidino- 2-phenylindole staining showed that the chromosomes of O. officinalis and O. meyeriana harbored more heterochromatin, suggesting that the C and G genomes were amplified with repetitive sequences compared with the A genome. Although chromocenters formed by chromatin compaction were detected with wild rice-specific signals corresponding to the C and G genomes in discrete domains of the F1 hybrid interphase nuclei, the size and number of O. meyeriana chromocenters were bigger and greater than those of O. officinalis. The present results provide an important understanding of the genomic relationships and a tool for the transfer of useful genes from three native wild rice species in China to cultivars.

Modification of Maxwell model for conductivity prediction of carbon nanotubes-filled polymer composites with tunneling effect

Carbon nanotubes(CNTs) have garnered great attention in recent years due to their outstanding electrical, thermal, and mechanical properties. The incorporation of small amounts of CNTs in polymers can substantially improve the sensitivity of the polymer's electrical conductivity. This paper presents a modified Maxwell model to evaluate the electrical conductivity of CNTs-filled polymer composites by introducing a transition zone to account for the tunneling effect. In this modified Maxwell model, the CNTs-filled polymer composite is modeled as a three-phase composite, consisting of a matrix(polymer), inclusions(CNTs), and a transition zone(tunneling zone). The effective electrical conductivity(EEC) of the composite is calculated based on the volume fractions and electrical conductivities of the matrix, inclusions, and transition zone. The model's validity is confirmed through the use of available test data, which demonstrates its capability to accurately capture the nonlinear conductivity behavior observed in CNTs-polymer composites. This study offers valuable insights into the design of high-performance conductive polymer nanocomposites, and enhances the understanding of electrical conduction mechanisms in CNT-dispersed polymer composites.

Electrical and magnetic properties of ZnNiO thin films deposited by pulse laser deposition

ZnNiO thin films with different contents of Ni(0-10 at.%) were fabricated on quartz and Si(100) substrates by pulsed laser deposition(PLD).We measured the samples by X-ray diffraction(XRD),field-emission scanning electron microscope(FE-SEM),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),ultraviolet-visible spectrometer(UV-VIS),and Hall *** the Ni contents were below 3 at.%,partial Zn2+ ions were replaced by the Ni2+ ions without forming any other phases,which enhanced the conductivity of the *** the Ni contents were above 3 at.%,Ni ions were at the interstitial sites,and Ni-related clusters and defects were able to emerge in the films,resulting in a worsening of electrical and optical properties.A ferromagnetic hysteresis with a coercive force of approximately 30 Oe was observed in the ZnNiO film with a Ni content of 3 at.% at room temperature.

The key problem in the construction of virtual enterprises (VEs) is how toselect appropriate partners. The negotiation-based approach is proposed to support partner selectionin the construction of VEs. The negotiation model is discussed from three main aspectsrespectively, i.e., negotiation protocol, negotiation goal and negotiation decision-making *** the generic mathematical description of the negotiation model is formally presented. Finally, asimple example is used to validate the approach's availability.

Association mapping has emerged as a new tool to elucidate complex quantitative trait loci in maize, but there are few reports about systematic association analysis for the specific SSR markers with agronomic traits of interest in China. We investigated the morphological and genetic diversity and population structure for 76 maize recombinant inbred lines, and then association analysis were further performed between 48 simple sequence repeat loci and 17 morphological traits, consisting of nine ear-related traits and eight other traits. The 48 SSR markers were screened out and further classified into two groups including a group of loci in regions harboring reported quantitative trait loci that affect ear shape and a group of markers distributing on the whole genome randomly. The result indicated that the population of recombinant inbred lines was structured, showing five subpopulations. Our association results revealed that there were 82, 59, and 40 significant associations detected by K-test, logistic regression, and both analysis, respectively. When the 17 traits were considered separately, the significant associations between Q-SSRs and E-traits were raised to 27.8%, whereas the other groups of combinations ranged between 2.3 and 6.3%. As the proportion of significant associations is higher among the Q-SSR subset of markers and the subset of traits related to ear shape than those for all of the other combinations, we conclude that this approach is valid for establishing true positive marker-trait relationships. Our results also demonstrated that association mapping could complement and enhance previous QTL information for marker-assisted selection.

Grand Canonical Monte Carlo (GCMC) simulations have been performed to study the localization and adsorption behavior of benzene and propylene, in purely siliceous MWW zeolite (ITQ-1). By analyzing the locations of benzene and propylene in ITQ-1, it can be deduced that the alkylation of benzene and propylene will mainly happen in 12-MR supercages at the external surface or close to the external surface. The adsorption isotherms of benzene and propylene at 315K and 0 similar to 3.5kPa are predicted, and the results for benzene generally coincide with the trend from the experiments of a series of aromatic compounds.
