The effect of heat treatment on phase occurrence,crystal structures and hydrogen sorption properties of Y_(0.5)La_(0.2)Mg_(0.3-x)Ni_(2) compounds has been investigated.The targeted compounds were synthesized through induction melting and processed heat treatment at 700 and 900℃,respectively.Phase occurrence and structural properties were studied by X-ray powder diffraction(XRD).The global compositions and phase compositions have been determined by inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometer(ICP-AES) and electron probe microanalysis(EPMA) respectively.

A compressor test platform was designed in the purpose of easy assembly and cost-saving tests.New design concepts were firstly used on the test platform and iterative revisions were conducted to verify the effects,which decrease the risk of applying to the full annulus directly.The platform was a sector cascade that can be inserted into an otherwise full stator annulus,with a set of exchangeable endwall casing and blades manufactured by 3-D printing.The platform can create an operating condition which is closer to engine-realistic flow conditions than traditional cascade tests.The flow field of the prototype stator was tested in detail at the operating point and showed some flow defects in the tip region,and then three design plans were conducted to experimentally investigate which design concept could improve the blade tip flow.The concept of casing endwall profiling was the most effective one which markedly depressed the separation of the tip region and decreased the total pressure loss coefficient.The test results show that the design of the test platform was successful and promising,which could be used to conduct more researches on the flow mechanism of the middle stage.

Metal hydride with proper hydrogen storage properties is the key component of hydride thermal hydrogen compressor.In this work,Ti_(0.85)Zr_(0.17)(Cr-Mn-V)_(1.3)Fe_(0.7)-based alloys were developed to achieve thermal hydrogen compression at mild operating temperatures of water bath.The results indicate the single C 14-type Laves phase as well as homogeneously distributed elements of all alloys.With increased Mn content in Ti_(0.85)Zr_(0.17)Cr_(1.2-x)Mn_xFe_(0.7)V_(0.1)(x=0,0.1,0.2,0.3)alloys.

Silicon is one of the most promising anode materials for lithium-ion batteries(liBs), but it suffers from pulverization and hence poor cycling stability due to the large volume variation during lithiation/delithiation. The core-shell structure is considered as an effective strategy to solve the expansion problem of silicon-based anodes. In this paper, the double-shell structured Si@SnO_(2) @C nanocomposite with nano-silicon as the core and SnO_(2) , C as the shells is synthesized by a facile hydrothermal method.Structural characterization shows that Si@SnO_(2) @C nanocomposite is composed of crystalline Si, crystalline SnO_(2) and amorphous C, and the contents of them are 42.1wt%, 37.8 wt% and 20.1 wt%, respectively. Transmission electron microscope(TEM) observations confirm the double-shell structure of Si@SnO_(2) @C nanocomposite, and the thicknesses of the SnO_(2) and C layers are 20 and 7 nm. The Si@SnO_(2) @C electrode exhibits a high initial discharge capacity of 2777 mAh·g^(-1)at 100 mA·g^(-1)and an excellent rate capability of 340 mAh·g^(-1)at 1500 mA·g^(-1). The outstanding capacity retention is 50.2% after 300 cycles over a potential of 0.01 to 2.00 V(vs. li/li+) at 500 mA·g^(-1). The resistance of solid electrolyte interphase(SEI) film(Rf) and charge transfer resistance(Rct) of Si@SnO_(2) @C are 7.68and 0.82 Ω, which are relatively smaller than those of Si@C(21.64 and 2.62 Ω). It is obviously seen that the SnO_(2) shell can reduce the charge transfer resistance, leading to high ion and electron transport efficiency in the Si@SnO_(2) @C electrode. The incorporation of SnO_(2) shell is attributed to the enhanced rate capability and cycling performance of Si@SnO_(2) @C nanocomposite.

The extreme alkalinity of bauxite residue(BR)leads to difficulty with its reuse.Alkaline leachate and dust generation during the stacking process can pollute surrounding soil,air and water.In this work,co-pyrolysis of bauxite residue and sawdust was applied to rapidly produce a soil-like matrix that met the conditions for plant growth as demonstrated by ryegrass pot experiments.The present study aimed to characterize the detailed changes in physicochemical,mineral weathering,and microbial communities of the pyrolyzed BR with different ratios of saw dust after plant colonization for 2 months.With increasing sawdust addition during co-pyrolysis,the pH of BR decreased from 11.21 to 8.16,the fraction of macro-aggregates 0.25-2 mm in the water-stable agglomerates increased by 29.3%,and the organic carbon concentration increased from 12.5 to 320 mg/kg,whilst facilitating the degree of humification,which were all beneficial to its revegetation performance.The backscattered electron-scanning electron microscope-energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry(BSE-SEM-EDS)results confirmed the occurrence of sodalite and calcite weathering on aggregate surfaces,and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)results of surface Al and Si compounds identified that some weathering products were clay minerals such as kaolinite.Furthermore,bacterial community composition and structure shifted towards typical soil taxonomic groups.These results demonstrate soil development of treated BR at an early stage.The technique is a combination of alkalinity regulation and agglomerate construction,which accelerates soil formation of BR,thus proving highly promising for potential application as an artificial soil substitute.

Coal fly ash is a typical secondary aluminum/silicon resource.The preparation of zeolite-type absorbent is a potential way for its value-added utilization,while the purity and adsorption property of zeolite are limited due to the occurrence of side reactions in the synthesis process.In this study,a designated composite consisted of crystalline zeolites and amorphous calcium silicate hydrate was selected,which was direct synthesized from fly ash under conditions of a Ca/Si molar ratio of 0.8,an initial NaOH concentration of 0.5 mol/L,a hydrothermal temperature of 170℃and a liquid–solid ratio of 15 mL/g.The results indicated that this composite had superior adsorption property for a variety of heavy metals,which was based on the exchange of calcium and sodium ions in zeolites and calcium silicate hydrate.Its adsorption capacities for Pb^(2+),Ni^(2+),Cd^(2+),Zn^(2+),Cu^(2+)and Cr^(3+)attained 409.4,222.4,147.5,93.2,101.1 and 157.0 mg/g,respectively,in single solution with a pH of 4.5.After regulating the synthesis conditions,the transformation of amorphous calcium silicate hydrate into crystallized tobermorite weakened the adsorption capacity of the composite.Besides,due to the competitive adsorption in a multiple ions solution,the adsorption capacities for these heavy metals had a reduction.

Macrophages,a heterogeneous population of innate immune cells,exhibit remarkable plasticity and play pivotal roles in coordinating immune responses and maintaining tissue homeostasis within the context of metabolic diseases.The activation of inflammatory macrophages in obese adipose tissue leads to detrimental effects,inducing insulin resistance through increased inflammation,impaired thermogenesis,and adipose tissue fibrosis.Meanwhile,adipose tissue macrophages also play a beneficial role in maintaining adipose tissue homeostasis by regulating angiogenesis,facilitating the clearance of dead adipocytes,and promoting mitochondrial transfer.Exploring the heterogeneity of macrophages in obese adipose tissue is crucial for unraveling the pathogenesis of obesity and holds significant potential for targeted therapeutic interventions.Recently,the dual effects and some potential regulatory mechanisms of macrophages in adipose tissue have been elucidated using single-cell technology.In this review,we present a comprehensive overview of the intricate activation mechanisms and diverse functions of macrophages in adipose tissue during obesity,as well as explore the potential of drug delivery systems targeting macrophages,aiming to enhance the understanding of current regulatory mechanisms that may be potentially targeted for treating obesity or metabolic diseases.

Secondary brain damage caused by hyperactivation of autophagy and inflammatory responses in neurons plays an important role in hypoxic-ischemic brain damage(HIBD).Although previous studies have implicated Toll-like receptor 4(TLR4)and nuclear factor kappa-B(NF-κB)in the neuroinflammatory response elicited by brain injury,the role and mechanisms of the TLR4-mediated autophagy signaling pathway in neonatal HIBD are still unclear.We hypothesized that this pathway can regulate brain damage by modulating neuron autophagy and neuroinflammation in neonatal rats with HIBD.Hence,we established a neonatal HIBD rat model using the Rice-Vannucci method,and injected 0.75,1.5,or 3 mg/kg of the TLR4 inhibitor resatorvid(TAK-242)30 minutes after hypoxic ischemia.Our results indicate that administering TAK-242 to neonatal rats after HIBD could significantly reduce the infarct volume and the extent of cerebral edema,alleviate neuronal damage and neurobehavioral impairment,and decrease the expression levels of TLR4,phospho-NF-κB p65,Beclin-1,microtubule-associated protein l light chain 3,tumor necrosis factor-α,and interleukin-1βin the hippocampus.Thus,TAK-242 appears to exert a neuroprotective effect after HIBD by inhibiting activation of autophagy and the release of inflammatory cytokines via inhibition of the TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway.This study was approved by the Laboratory Animal Ethics Committee of Affiliated Hospital of Yangzhou University,China(approval No.20180114-15)on January 14,2018.

Assessment of heavy metal accumulation in freshwater fish of Dongting Lake,China:Effects of feeding habits,habitat preferences and body size

We measured the concentrations of Cr,Fe,Ni,Cu,Zn,Cd,Pb and Hg,and the stable isotope ratios(δ^(13)C and δ^(15)N)in 87 fish samples within 12 economic fish species collected from the Dongting Lake,the second largest freshwater lake in China.With few exceptions in concentration of Cr,most of fish species showed lower concentrations of the 8 metals than legislation thresholds.Piscivorous fishes had significantly higher values of δ^(15)N(possessing higher trophic level)and metal concentrations than planktivorous and herbivorous fishes.Moreover,demersal fishes showed higher concentrations of Cu,Zn,Cd and Pb than pelagic and benthopelagic fishes.We found positive correlations between concentrations of Fe,Pb and Hg and δ^(15)N ratio,confirming the biomagnification of the three metals through trophic transfer.In contrast,fishes showed clear growth dilution effect for Ni,Zn,Cu,Pb and Hg,indicated by the negative correlations between their concentrations and fish weight or length.Multiple regression analysis demonstrated that growth dilution and biomagnification effects simultaneously governed the metal concentrations in fish muscle,and the two effects'importance varied among different metals.The human health risk assessment indicated that all 8 metals gave target hazard quotient(THQ)values<1.0,i.e.,the estimated daily intake(EDI)of metals did not exceed the oral reference dose(Rf D),indicating a safe consumption of these fish species for consumer.Our study provides comprehensive approaches to better understand the determining processes and potential risk of heavy metals in freshwater lake fishes.

A lead-shielded HPGe detector and offlineγ-ray spectra of the residual product were used to measure the cross section(CS)and ratios of isomeric CS(σm/σg)in^(134)Xe(n,2n)^(133m),gXe reactions at different energies(13.5 MeV,13.8 MeV,14.1 MeV,14.4 MeV,14.8 MeV)relative to the^(93)Nb(n,2n)^(92)mNb reaction CS.The target was high-purity natural Xe gas under high pressure.The T(d,n)4He reaction produces neutrons.TALYS code(version 1.95)for nuclear reactions was used for calculations,with default parameters and nuclear level density models.The uncertainties in the measured CS data were thoroughly analyzed using the covariance analysis method.The results were compared with theoretical values,evaluation data,and previous experimental findings.CS data of the 134Xe(n,2n)133mXe and 134Xe(n,2n)133gXe reactions and the corresponding isomeric CS ratios at 13.5 MeV,13.8 MeV,and 14.1 MeV neutron energies are reported for the first time.This research advances our knowledge of pre-equilibrium emission in the(n,2n)reaction channel by resolving inconsistencies in the Xe data.
