Crystallization-assisted asymmetric assembly of polymer nanocrescents and fidelity carbon analogues:Experiment and simulation study

Anisotropic nanoparticles,giving rise to a large number of novel physicochemical properties and functionalities,have provoked increasing attentions in nanoscience and nanotechnology.The remained challenge is to develop synthetic methods for the fabrication of anisotropic nanoparticles with less symmetry under the principle of minimum surface free energy.Here,we established a crystallization-assisted asymmetric assembly method for the synthesis of anisotropic polymer nanocrescents and their carbonaceous analogues by using triblock copolymer F127 and octadecanol in aqueous solution.With the aid of molecular dynamics(MD)simulation,we demonstrate that the observed crescent structure is caused by asymmetry distribution of octadecanol crystal within the hydrophobic core of F127 micelles,via the formation of intermediate elliptic micelles bearing hydrophobic ends that further fuse with each other end-to-end at an angle into curing nanocrescent morphology.The influences of annealing time,annealing temperature,and mole ratios of precursors that govern the kinetics of the assembly and polymerization process were systematically investigated and a series of polymer nanocrescents with tunable length of~85 to~262 nm and aspect ratio of~1.1 to~3.0 were prepared.The ability to create novel crescent-shaped polymer and carbon nanoparticles and the identification of asymmetric assembly process by combining experiment and simulation study will provide a valuable contribution both to theoretical and technological researches.

Adsorptive separation of acetylene/carbon dioxide mixtures by porous materials is an important and challenging task due to their similar sizes and physical properties.Here,remarkable acetylene/carbon dioxide separation featuring a high dynamic breakthrough capacity for acetylene(4.3 mmol·g^(–1))as well as an ultralow acetylene regeneration energy(29.5 kJ·mol^(–1))was achieved with the novel TiF_(6)^(2–)-pillared material ZU-100(TIFSIX-bpy-Ni).Construction of a pore structure with abundant TiF_(6)^(2–)anion sites and pores with appropriate sizes enabled formation of acetylene clusters through hydrogen bonds and intermolecular interactions,which afforded a high acetylene capacity(8.3 mmol·g^(–1))and high acetylene/carbon dioxide uptake ratio(1.9)at 298 K and 1 bar.Moreover,the NbO_(5)^(2–)anion-pillared material ZU-61 investigated for separation of acetylene/carbon dioxide.In addition,breakthrough experiments were also conducted to further confirm the excellent dynamic acetylene/carbon dioxide separation performance of ZU-100.

On Differentiation Among Pilot Signals of Multiple Mobile Targets in Retro-Reflective Beamforming for Wireless Power Transmission

An experimental study is conducted on several retro-reflective beamforming schemes for wireless power transmission to multiple wireless power receivers(referred to herein as“targets”).The experimental results demonstrate that,when multiple targets broadcast continuous-wave pilot signals at respective frequencies,a retro-reflective wireless power transmitter is capable of generating multiple wireless power beams aiming at the respective targets as long as the multiple pilot signals are explicitly separated from one another by the wireless power transmitter.However,various practical complications are identified when the pilot signals of multiple targets are not appropriately differentiated from each other by the wireless power transmitter.Specifically,when multiple pilot signals are considered to be carried by the same frequency,the wireless power transmission performance becomes heavily dependent on the interaction among the pilot signals,which is highly undesirable in practice.In conclusion,it is essential for a retro-reflective wireless power transmitter to explicitly discriminate multiple targets’pilot signals among each other.

What is already known about this topic?The heat health early warning model serves as an effective strategy for reducing health risks related to heatwaves and improving population adaptability.Several high-income countries have taken the lead in conducting research and implementing measures aimed at safeguarding their populations.What is added by this report?The graded heat health risk early warning model(GHREWM)in Jinan City has demonstrated efficacy in safeguarding males,females,individuals aged above 75 years,and those with cardiopulmonary diseases.During the summer of 2022,the warning stage of GHREWM contributed to the prevention of 10.9 deaths per million individuals,concurrently averting health-related economic losses estimated at approximately 227 million Chinese Yuan(CNY).What are the implications for public health practice?The GHREWM has the potential to enhance cities’adaptability to climate change.It is crucial to incorporate additional adverse health endpoint data in the development of early warning models,as this will improve their applicability and protective efficacy.

Objective To quantitatively evaluate the associations of infarct size,regional myocardial function examined by cardiac magnetic resonance feature tracking(CMR-FT)strain analysis with infarct location in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction(STEMI)treated by primary percutaneous coronary intervention.Methods Cardiac magnetic resonance images were retrospectively analyzed in 95 consecutive STEMI patients with successful reperfusion.The patients were divided into the anterior wall myocardial infarction(AWMI)and nonanterior wall myocardial infarction(NAWMI)groups.Infarct characteristics were assessed by late gadolinium enhancement.Global and regional strains and associated strain rates in the radial,circumferential and longitudinal directions were assessed by CMR-FT based on standard cine images.The associations of infarct size,regional myocardial function examined by CMR-FT strain analysis with infarct location in STEMI patients were evaluated by the Spearman or Pearsonmethod.Results There were 44 patients in the AWMI group and 51 in the NAWMI group.The extent of left ventricular enhanced mass was significantly larger in patients with AWMI compared with the NAWMI group(24.47±11.89,21.06±12.08%LV;t=3.928,P=0.008).In infarct zone analysis,strains in the radial,circumferential and longitudinal directions were remarkably declined in the AWMI group compared with the NAWMI group(z=-20.873,-20.918,-10.357,all Plic volume index),total enhanced mass and extent of enhanced mass of the left ventricular were correlated best with infarct zone strain in the AWMI group(all P<0.001).Conclusion In STEMI patients treated by percutaneous coronary intervention,myocardial damage is more extensive and regional myocardial function in the infarct zone is lower in the AWMI group compared with the NAWMI group.

This paper focuses on theoretical analytical models to calculate the limit support pressure and vertical earth pressure on the cutting face for tunnels.The failure zone is divided into two parts:a sliding failure zone and an upper loosen zone,and the limit support pressure calculation equation is derived.To verify the rationality of the theoretical model,it was compared with the existing theory,numerical simulation,and centrifugal test,and then the parameter analysis was carried out.The results show that the results of this paper agree well with the existing theory,numerical simulation,and centrifugal test.The inclination angle of the proposed mechanism is determined based on the results of the existing centrifuge test,and the recommended inclination angle is between 52°+φ/2 and 54°+φ/2.The method is proven to be safe and accurate.It can provide a theoretical basis for similar projects.

The dual-metal-atom catalysts(DACs)have aroused much attention as they possess the advantages of single-atom and metal alloy catalysts.And the DACs have exhibited enhanced performance in various electrocatalytic reactions,such as hydrogen/oxygen evolution and oxygen/carbon dioxide/nitrogen reduction.In this review,we mainly overview the latest understanding of the advantages of DACs for these reactions.This review will start with the familiar characterization methods for DACs,then the primary synthesis strategies for DACs will be discussed.Emphasis is given to the advantages of DACs in catalytic reactions,including the adsorption and activation,electronic structure regulation,breaking scaling relations,reducing energy barriers,cascading and coupling,synergy effect,and providing mechanism research platforms.Finally,personal perspectives and challenges for the further development of DACs are briefly discussed.

Spinal cord injury is characte rized by diffe rent aetiologies,complex pathogenesis,and diverse pathological changes.Current treatments are not ideal,and prognosis is generally poor.After spinal cord injury,neurons die due to various forms of cell death.Among them,fe rroptosis causes dysfunction after spinal cord injury,and no existing traditional treatments have been indicated to block its occurrence.Meanwhile,emerging therapies using mesenchymal stem cells,extracellular vesicles,and transcranial magnetic stimulation therapy are promising for reve rsing spinal co rd neuronal ferroptosis after spinal cord injury.However,no definitive studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of these approaches.This review summarizes the existing research on the mechanisms of ferroptosis;fe rroptosis after spinal cord injury;treatment of spinal cord injury with mesenchymal stem cells,extracellular vesicles,and transc ranial magnetic stimulation;and treatment of ferroptosis using mesenchymal stem cells,extracellular vesicles,and transc ranial magnetic stimulation.Inhibiting ferroptosis can promote the reversal of neurological dysfunction after spinal cord injury.In addition,mesenchymal stem cells,extracellular vesicles,and transc ranial magnetic stimulation can reve rse adverse outcomes of spinal cord injury and regulate ferroptosis-related fa ctors.Thus,it can be inferred that mesenchymal stem cells,extracellular vesicles,and transcranial magnetic stimulation have the potential to inhibit fe rroptosis after spinal cord injury.This review serves as a reference for future research to confirm these conclusions.

This paper presents a rapid and effective calibration method of mesoscopic parameters of a threedimensional particle flow code(PFC3D)model for sandy cobble soil.The method is based on a series of numerical tests and takes into account the significant influence of mesoscopic parameters on macroscopic parameters.First,numerical simulations are conducted,with five implementation steps.Then,the multi-factor analysis of variance method is used to analyze the experimental results,the mesoscopic parameters with significant influence on the macroscopic response are singled out,and their linear relations to macroscopic responses are estimated by multiple linear regression.Finally,the parameter calibration problem is transformed into a multi-objective function optimization problem.Numerical simulation results are in good agreement with laboratory results both qualitatively and quantitatively.The results of this study can provide a basis for the calibration of microscopic parameters for the investigation of sandy cobble soil mechanical behavior.
