Pulsed dynamic electrolysis enhanced PEMWE hydrogen production:Revealing the effects of pulsed electric fields on protons mass transport and hydrogen bubble escape

The transition of hydrogen sourcing from carbon-intensive to water-based methodologies is underway,with renewable energy-powered proton exchange membrane water electrolysis （PEMWE） emerging as the preeminent pathway for hydrogen *** remarkable advancements in this field,confronting the sluggish electrochemical kinetics and inherent high-energy consumption arising from deteriorated mass transport within PEMWE systems remains a formidable *** impediment stems primarily from the hindered protons mass transfer and the untimely hydrogen bubbles *** address these challenges,we harness the inherent variability of electrical energy and introduce an innovative pulsed dynamic water electrolysis *** to constant voltage electrolysis (hydrogen production rate:51.6 m L h-1,energy consumption:5.37 kWh Nm-3H2),this strategy (hydrogen production rate:66 m L h-1,energy consumption:3.83 kWh Nm-3H2) increases the hydrogen production rate by approximately 27%and reduces the energy consumption by about 28%.Furthermore,we demonstrate the practicality of this system by integrating it with an off-grid photovoltaic （PV） system designed for outdoor operation,successfully driving a hydrogen production current of up to 500 mA under an average voltage of approximately 2 *** combined results of in-situ characterization and finite element analysis reveal the performance enhancement mechanism:pulsed dynamic electrolysis （PDE） dramatically accelerates the enrichment of protons at the electrode/solution interface and facilitates the release of bubbles on the electrode *** such,PDE-enhanced PEMWE represents a synergistic advancement,concurrently enhancing both the hydrogen generation reaction and associated transport *** promising technology not only redefines the landscape of electrolysis-based hydrogen production but also holds immense potential for broadening its application across a diverse spectrum of electrocatalytic endeavors.

Accuracy estimation of link-based similarity measures and its application

link-based similarity measures play a significant role in many graph based applications. Consequently, mea- suring node similarity in a graph is a fundamental problem of graph data mining. Personalized PageRank （PPR） and Sim- Rank （SR） have emerged as the most popular and influen- tial link-based similarity measures. Recently, a novel link- based similarity measure, penetrating rank （P-Rank）, which enriches SR, was proposed. In practice, PPR, SR and P-Rank scores are calculated by iterative methods. As the number of iterations increases so does the overhead of the calcula- tion. The ideal solution is that computing similarity within the minimum number of iterations is sufficient to guaran- tee a desired accuracy. However, the existing upper bounds are too coarse to be useful in general. Therefore, we focus on designing an accurate and tight upper bounds for PPR, SR, and P-Rank in the paper. Our upper bounds are designed based on the following intuition： the smaller the difference between the two consecutive iteration steps is, the smaller the difference between the theoretical and iterative similar- ity scores becomes. Furthermore, we demonstrate the effec- tiveness of our upper bounds in the scenario of top-k similar nodes queries, where our upper bounds helps accelerate the speed of the query. We also run a comprehensive set of exper- iments on real world data sets to verify the effectiveness and efficiency of our upper bounds.

Distribution of shrublands in relation to soil and climate in mid-subtropical China

Aims Understanding relationships between vegetation and environments is of importance for ecosystem restoration and ***,information on how environments influence the floristic patterns of shrublands is lack,especially in the subtropical *** this study,we explored how environments regulate species composition of shrublands at landscape scale in mid-subtropical *** We investigated species composition and measured the climate and soil environments for 207 shrubland plots in mid-subtropical China(24°39′-30°08′N,108°47′-114°15′E).We applied a hierarchical cluster analysis and indicator species analysis based on the Bray-Curtis similarity index to identify the main shrubland types and employed principal coordinate analysis(PCoA)to explore the relationship between floristic composition and *** Findings We identified four shrubland types occurring in different environmental *** shrubland,dominated by species suitable for cool climates(*** simsii),were distributed in steep areas at comparatively high altitudes;foothill shrubland,dominated by mesophilous species(*** chinense),were distributed in low mountains and hills;pioneer shrubland,dominated by fast grow and short-life cycles species(*** chinensis),were distributed at low altitudes with dense population;and finally,limestone shrubland,dominated by calcicole plants(*** nepalensis),were distributed in the extensive karst *** occurring in high pH soils were completely separated from those in low pH soils according to the hierarchical cluster *** ordination associated the four types with distinct edaphic and climatic *** pH explained 63.3%of variation in PCoA,followed by soil depth and soil bulk density.

The Hardawu granites in the eastern segment of the ultrahigh-pressure metamorphic belt,the northern Qaidam Basin,were studied by whole-rock major and trace elements and in-situ zircon U-Pb geochronology and Hf isotopes to discuss the petrogenesis and tectonic *** results show that the granites have a crystallization age of 401±3 Ma,suggesting that they were formed in the Early *** granites have SiO2 contents of 75.32 wt.%-76.05 wt.%,total alkali contents of 8.23 wt.%-8.36 wt.%,and K2O/Na2O ratios of *** were rich in K2O,poor in TiO2,MnO,MgO,and P2O5,and have A/CNK values of 1.05-1.07,Rittmann indexδvalues of 2.05-2.14,and differentiation index(DI)values of *** are high potassium calc-alkaline,weakperaluminum,and highly differentiated I-type *** granites also show enrichment of large ion lithophile elements(liLE)such as Rb,Ba,and Th,and depletion of high field strength elements(HFSE)such as Nb,Ta,and *** total REE concentrations range from 169 ppm to 232 ppm,with enrichments of light rare earth elements and negative Eu anomalies(δEu=0.39-0.55).The zirconεHf(t)values range from-0.65 to-2.29,and the two-stage model ages(tDM2)changed within a small range of 1.44 to 1.54 Ga,indicating that the magma of the Hardawu granites was originated from the partial melting of Mesoproterozoic lower crustal *** with previous studies,we suggest that the Hardawu granites were formed in the extensional tectonic setting after the collision between the Qaidam Block and the central and southern Qilian Block in the Early Devonian.

Radiotherapy for head and neck cancer can cause serious side effects, including severe damage to the salivary glands, resulting in symptoms such as xerostomia, dental caries, and oral infection. Because of the lack of long-term treatment for the symptoms of xerostomia, current research has focused on finding endogenous stem cells that can differentiate into various cell lineages to replace lost tissues and restore functions. Here, we report that Sox9^(+)cells can differentiate into various salivary epithelial cell lineages under homeostatic conditions. After ablating Sox9^(+) cells, the salivary glands of irradiated mice showed more severe phenotypes and the reduced proliferative capacity. Analysis of online single-cell RNAsequencing data reveals the enrichment of the Wnt/β-catenin pathway in the Sox9^(+) cell ***, treatment with a Wnt/β-catenin inhibitor in irradiated mice inhibits the regenerative capability of Sox9^(+) cells. Finally, we show that Sox9^(+) cells are capable of forming organoids in vitro and that transplanting these organoids into salivary glands after radiation partially restored salivary gland *** results suggest that regenerative therapy targeting Sox9^(+) cells is a promising approach to treat radiation-induced salivary gland injury.

Dual-site Doping to Enhance Oxygen Redox and Structural Stability of li-rich Layered Oxides

Cobalt-free li-rich layered oxides(LLOs)such as li_(2)MnO_(3) have attracted extensive attention owing to their high specific capacity and low ***,numerous problems such as continuous voltage fading and capacity decay have become stumbling blocks in its commercial *** this study,we propose an effective dual-site doping strategy by choosing Mo as the cation and F as the anion to enhance the capacity and cycling *** researchdemonstrates that the cycling stability of LLOs enhances with the doping ratio of Mo,and their capacity increases with the doping ratio of *** is because Mo as a pillar enhances the structural stability and F doping is conducive to the activation of li;MnO;.What’s more,dual-site doping also promotes the diffusion of li;and reduces the internal resistance of the *** to these improvements,the 5F3M sample still maintains a discharge capacity of 190.98 mAh g;after 100 cycles at 200 mA g^(-1),which is much higher than 165.29 mAh g;of the Pristine *** discovery provides a new way to develop advanced layered oxide cathodes for both Na-and li-ion batteries.

Aims Carbon(C),nitrogen(N)and phosphorus(P)stoichiometry strongly affect functions and nutrient cycling within ***,the related researches in shrubs were very *** this study,we aimed to inves-tigate leaf stoichiometry and its driving factors in shrubs,and whether stoichiometry significantly differs among closely related *** We analyzed leaf C,N and P concentrations and their ratios in 32 species of Ericaceae from 161 sites across southern *** examined the relationships of leaf stoichiometry with environmen-tal variables using linear regressions,and quantified the interactive and independent effects of climate,soil and species on foliar stoi-chiometry using general linear models(GLM).Important Findings The foliar C,N and P contents of Ericaceae were 484.66,14.44 and 1.06 mg g−1,*** C,N and P concentrations and their ratios in Ericaceae were significantly related with latitude and altitude,except the N:P insignificantly correlated with ***(mean annual temperature and precipitation)and soil properties(soil C,N and P and bulk density)were significantly influenced element *** GLM analysis showed that soil exerted a greater direct effect on leaf stoichiometry than climate did,and climate affected leaf traits mainly via indirect ***,soil properties had stronger influ-ences on leaf P than on leaf C and *** all independent factors examined,we found species accounted for the largest proportion of the variation in foliar *** results suggest that species can largely influence foliar stoichiometry,even at a lower taxonomic level.

An almost full reversible lithium-rich cathode: Revealing the mechanism of high initial coulombic efficiency

Low initial Coulombic efficiency (ICE) is an important impediment to practical application of li-rich layered oxides (LLOs), which is due to the irreversible oxygen release. It is generally considered that surface oxygen vacancies are conducive to the improvement of ICE of LLOs. To reveal the relation of oxygen vacancies and ICE, sample PLO (li-Mn-Cr-O) and its treated product (TLO) are comprehensive investigated in this work. During the treated process, part of oxygen atoms return to original constructed vacancies. It makes oxygen vacancies in sample TLO much poorer than those in sample PLO, and induces the formation of li-poor spinel-layered integrated structure. Electrochemical measurement indicates the ICE of sample PLO is only 80.8%, while sample TLO is almost full reversible with the ICE of ~97.1%. In term of high-energy X-ray diffraction, scanning transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and synchrotron hard/soft X-ray absorption spectroscopy, we discover that the ICE is difficult to be improved significantly just by building oxygen vacancies. LLOs with high ICE not only have to construct suitable oxygen vacancies, but also require other components with li-poor structure to stabilize oxygen. This work provides deep insight into the mechanism of high ICE, and will contribute to the design and development of LLOs for next-generation high-energy lithium-ion batteries.

针对粮食生产过程中的资源消耗和环境降级问题,以黄土高原沟壑区的陕西省长武县为研究对象,运用环境经济学估算方法,对粮食生产的资源环境成本进行了研究。结果表明:2008年该区粮食生产资源环境损失总价值相当于当年农业总产值的19.05%;小麦和玉米的资源环境成本分别达到2.02和1.19元/kg,总成本分别为4.08和2.23元/kg,而出售价格仅1.72和1.28元/kg,高成本低效益状况对区域粮食安全及生态经济持续发展产生不利影响;对粮食总成本中的各要素进行因子分析得出,资源环境成本和化肥费用是其主要因素。在现有生产条件下加大农业科技投入,提高生产资料利用效率,发展现代生态农业,是降低粮食成本维持区域持续发展的重要举措。
