BACKGROUND Despite continuous changes in treatment methods,the survival rate for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)patients remains low,highlighting the importance of diagnostic methods for HCC.AIM To explore the efficacy of texture analysis based on multi-parametric magnetic resonance(MR)imaging(MRI)in predicting microvascular invasion(MVI)in preoperative HCC.METHODS This study included 105 patients with pathologically confirmed HCC,categorized into MVI-positive and MVI-negative groups.We employed Original Data Analysis,Principal Component Analysis,linear Discriminant Analysis(LDA),and Non-LDA(NDA)for texture analysis using multi-parametric MR images to predict preoperative MVI.The effectiveness of texture analysis was determined using the B11 program of the MaZda4.6 software,with results expressed as the misjudgment rate(MCR).RESULTS Texture analysis using multi-parametric MRI,particularly the MI+PA+F dimensionality reduction method combined with NDA discrimination,demonstrated the most effective prediction of MVI in HCC.Prediction accuracy in the pulse and equilibrium phases was 83.81%.MCRs for the combination of T2-weighted imaging(T2WI),arterial phase,portal venous phase,and equilibrium phase were 22.86%,16.19%,20.95%,and 20.95%,respectively.The area under the curve for predicting MVI positivity was 0.844,with a sensitivity of 77.19%and specificity of 91.67%.CONCLUSION Texture analysis of arterial phase images demonstrated superior predictive efficacy for MVI in HCC compared to T2WI,portal venous,and equilibrium phases.This study provides an objective,non-invasive method for preoperative prediction of MVI,offering a theoretical foundation for the selection of clinical therapy.

Identifying the origin of porous evolution of microsized bismuth in potassium-ion batteries

Microsized bismuth(Bi)with in-situ constructed three-dimensional(3D)porous network has been considered as a promising anode for high-performance potassium-ion batteries(PIBs).However,the mechanism of the in-situ porous evolution of microsized Bi during the charge/discharge process is still mysterious.Herein,various electrolytes are employed to disclose the origin of porous evolution of microsized Bi in PIBs.Experimentally and theoretically,the 3D porous network originates from the uniform interfacial charge distribution on the Bi surface in the linear ether-based electrolyte.In addition,the universality of the interfacial charge distribution mechanism was verified by microsized Sn and Sb.The in-situ constructed 3D porous network of Bi enables a superior potassium storage performance in a wide temperature range from-40 to 40°C.More importantly,the K_(0.9)Mn_(0.7)Ni_(0.3)O_(2)||Bi full cell delivers excellent cycling stability(a high capacity retention of 88.44%even after 2,000 cycles)and good temperature tolerance.This work gives a distinct clarification of the origin of the porous evolution of microsized Bi during cycling,which is critical for developing high-performance PIBs.

Does cranial-medial mixed dominant approach have a unique advantage for laparoscopic right hemicolectomy with complete mesocolic excision?

BACKGROUND Complete mesocolic excision(CME)with central vascular ligation(CVL)was proposed by Hohenberger in 2009.The CME principle has gradually become the technical standard for colon cancer surgery.How to achieve CME with CVL in laparoscopic right hemicolectomy(LRH)is controversial,and a unified standard approach is not yet available.In recent years,the authors’team has integrated the theory of membrane anatomy,tried to combine the cephalic approach with the classic medial approach(MA)for technical optimization,and proposed a cranialmedial mixed dominant approach(CMA).AIM To explore the feasibility of operational approaches for LRH with CME.METHODS In this retrospective cohort study,the clinical data of 57 patients with right-sided colon cancer(TNM stage I,II,or III)who underwent LRH with CME from January 2016 to June 2020 were collected and summarized.There were 31 patients in the traditional MA group and 26 in the CMA group.RESULTS There were no significant differences in baseline data between the two groups.The operation was shorter and the number of lymph nodes dissected was higher in the CMA group than in the MA group,but there was no significant difference in the number of positive lymph nodes,intraoperative blood loss,postoperative exhaust time,feeding time,postoperative hospital stay or postoperative complication incidence.CONCLUSION Our study shows that the CMA is a safe and feasible procedure for LRH with CME and has a unique advantage.

Construction of liCl/liF/liZn hybrid SEI interface achieving high-performance sulfide-based all-solid-state lithium metal batteries

Sulfide-based all-solid-state lithium metal batteries(ASSLMBs)have received extensive attention due to their high energy density and high safety,while the poor interface stability between sulfide electrolyte and lithium metal anode limits their development.Hence,a hybrid SEI(liCl/li F/li Zn)was constructed at the interface between li_(5.5)PS_(4.5)Cl_(1.5)sulfide electrolyte and lithium metal.The li Cl and li F interface phases with high interface energy effectively induce the uniform deposition of li^(+)and reduce the overpotential of li^(+)deposition,while the li Zn alloy interface phase accelerates the diffusion of lithium ions.The synergistic effect of the above functional interface phases inhibits the growth of lithium dendrites and stabilizes the interface between the sulfide electrolyte and lithium metal.The hybrid SEI strategy exhibits excellent electrochemical performance on symmetric batteries and all-solid-state batteries.The symmetrical cell exhibits stable cycling performance over long duration over 500 h at 1.0 mA cm^(-2).Moreover,the linbO_(3)@NCM712/li_(5.5)PS_(4.5)Cl_(1.5)/li-10%Zn F_(2)battery exhibits excellent cycle stability at a high rate of 0.5 C,with a capacity retention rate of 76.4%after 350 cycles.

Endoscopic features and treatments of gastric cystica profunda

BACKGROUND Gastric cystica profunda(GCP)represents a rare condition characterized by cystic dilation of gastric glands within the mucosal and/or submucosal layers.GCP is often linked to,or may progress into,early gastric cancer(EGC).AIM To provide a comprehensive evaluation of the endoscopic features of GCP while assessing the efficacy of endoscopic treatment,thereby offering guidance for diagnosis and treatment.METHODS This retrospective study involved 104 patients with GCP who underwent endoscopic resection.Alongside demographic and clinical data,regular patient followups were conducted to assess local recurrence.RESULTS Among the 104 patients diagnosed with GCP who underwent endoscopic resection,12.5%had a history of previous gastric procedures.The primary site predominantly affected was the cardia(38.5%,n=40).GCP commonly exhibited intraluminal growth(99%),regular presentation(74.0%),and ulcerative mucosa(61.5%).The leading endoscopic feature was the mucosal lesion type(59.6%,n=62).The average maximum diameter was 20.9±15.3 mm,with mucosal involvement in 60.6%(n=63).Procedures lasted 73.9±57.5 min,achieving complete resection in 91.3%(n=95).Recurrence(4.8%)was managed via either surgical intervention(n=1)or through endoscopic resection(n=4).Final pathology confirmed that 59.6%of GCP cases were associated with EGC.Univariate analysis indicated that elderly males were more susceptible to GCP associated with EGC.Conversely,multivariate analysis identified lesion morphology and endoscopic features as significant risk factors.Survival analysis demonstrated no statistically significant difference in recurrence between GCP with and without EGC(P=0.72).CONCLUSION The findings suggested that endoscopic resection might serve as an effective and minimally invasive treatment for GCP with or without EGC.

Fast li^(+) migration in liPON electrolytes doped by multi-valent Fe ions

Achieving superior ionic conductivity of li PON solid electrolyte films is critical for the solid-state thinfilm batteries with high energy density.Here we describe a method of preparing li PON with promising ionic migration capability and high work function by systematically tailoring the concentration of Fe ions doping.Fe-doped liPON exhibits excellent ionic conductivity(1.08×10^(-5)S cm^(-1),nearly 10 times higher than the pristine liPON),low ionic activation energy,and moderate equilibrium potential difference(versus liCoO_(2),0.78 V)at room temperature.The favorable ionic mobility and electrochemical stability of Fedoped li PON are fully confirmed.All-solid-state“li/liPON/liCoO_(2)”TFB has been successfully constructed with a large specific capacity(~36.3μAh cm^(-2)μm^(-1)at 10μA cm^(-2))and good cycle performance(87.8%capacity retention after 40 cycles).Fe with the unique d-orbital electronic structure changes the local electron density of li PON system with the weakened electrostatic constraint of PO_(3)N^(4-)tetrahedrons to li^(+).A low li^(+)migration barrier center is established around the Fe–N bridge bonds.

Porous silica synthesis out of coal fly ash with no residue generation and complete silicon separation

Ordered mesoporous silica materials exhibit enormous potential in industrial production.Since coal fly ash(CFA)is abundant in Si,it has become a green and promising way to utilize CFA by synthesizing porous silica materials.However,the stable crystalline structure of CFA limits the extraction of Si,and the residue is generated during the process of extracting Si.In this work,we proposed a no-residue method to synthesize ordered mesoporous silica out of CFA.Sodium carbonate(Na_(2)CO_(3))was used to reconstruct the crystals of the CFA,and the calcined mixture then directly reacted with the precipitators.This method combined the process of Si extraction and porous material synthesis.In this method,no residue was generated and the silicon in both amorphous and crystalline phases of CFA was fully utilized.By this method,the extraction efficiency of Si was increased from 31.75%to nearly 100%.The as-synthesized mesoporous silica had a highly-ordered pore structure with a space group of la-3d,a surface area of 663.87 m^(2)/g,a pore volume of 0.41 cm^(3)/g,and an average pore diameter of 2.73 nm.The mechanism of crystalline transformation and material structure formation were systematically studied.This method provides a new idea to dispose of CFA and synthesize porous silica materials.

Signal amplificated electrochemical immunosensor for β-lactoglobulin allergen detection in dairy products applying AuNPs/Prussian Blue/CMK-8 composite

Herein， a novel label-free electrochemical immunosensor was fabricated via immobilizing specific anti-β-lactoglobulin （β-LG） antibodies （Abs） onto an integrated electrode of gold nanoparticles （AuNPs） / Prussian Blue （PB） / CMK-8. This immunosensor allowed for the quantitative detection of the major milk allergen β-LG. CMK-8 with excellent electrical conductivity and uniformly adjustable pore structure was modified on the glassy carbon electrode （GCE） and served as the sensitive substrate for the electro-polymerization of PB， forming the redox-active layer. AuNPs were subsequently electrochemically deposited on PB/CMK-8/GCE to improve the electrical conductivity and utilized as the connector for Abs immobilization. During β-LG detection， the Abs-modified AuNPs/PB/CMK-8/GCE exhibited a significant reduction in DPV current signal when exposed to β-LG， displaying an inverse dose-dependent relationship. The developed electrochemical immunosensor demonstrated good detection performance for β-LG， with a wider linear range of 0.01 - 100 ng mL-1and a lower detection limit of 4.72 pg mL-1. Meanwhile， the sensor exhibited remarkable repeatability， reproducibility， stability and anti-interference capabilities， which was further applied to detect β-LG in dairy food， achieving satisfactory recoveries （89.2% - 98.8%） and lower relative standard deviation （ ≤ 3.1%）. Therefore， this innovative electrochemical method for food allergens detection holds great potential application in food safety determination and evaluation.

Pelagic-benthic coupling of the microbial food web modifies nutrient cycles along a cascade-dammed river

Cascade dams disrupt the river continuum,altering hydrology,biodiversity and nutrient flux.Describing the diversity of multi-trophic microbiota and assessing microbial contributions to the ecosystem processes are prerequisites for the restoration of these aquatic systems.This study investigated the microbial food web structure along a cascade-dammed river,paying special attention to the multi-trophic relationships and the potential role of pelagic-benthic coupling in nutrient cycles.Our results revealed the discontinuity in bacterial and eukaryotic community composition,functional group proportion,as well as a-diversity due to fragmentation by damming.The high microbial dissimilarity along the river,with the total multi-trophic P-diversity was 0.84,was almost completely caused by species replacement.Synchronization among trophic levels suggests potential interactions of the pelagic and the benthic groups,of which the p-diversities were primarily influenced by geographic and environmental factors,respectively.Dam-induced environmental variations,especially hydrological and nutrient variables,potentially influence the microbial food web via both top-down and bottom-up forces.We proposed that the cycles of carbon,nitrogen and phosphorus are influenced by multi-trophic groups through autotrophic and heterotrophic processes,predator-prey relationships,as well as the release of nutrients mainly by microfauna.Our results advance the notion that pelagic-benthic trophic coupling may intensify the accumulation of organic carbon,ammonium and inorganic phosphorus,thereby changing the biogeochemical patterns along river systems.As a consequence,researchers should pay more attention to the multi-trophic studies when assessing the environmental impacts,and to provide the necessary guidance for the ecological conservation and restoration of the dam-regulated systems.
