Structural Geology and Chronology of Shear Zones along the Shangdan Suture in Qinling Orogenic Belt,China:Implications for Late Mesozoic Intra-Continental Deformation of East Asia

The Shangdan suture zone(SDZ)in the Qinling orogenic belt(QOB)is a key to understanding the East Asia tectonic evolution.The SDZ gives information about convergent processes between the North China Block(NCB)and South China Block(SCB).In the Late Mesozoic,several shear zones evolved along the SDZ boundary that helps us comprehend the collisional deformation between the NCB and SCB,which was neglected in previous studies.These shear zones play an essential role in the tectonic evolution of the East Asia continents.This study focuses on the deformation and geochronology of two shear zones distributed along the SDZ,identified in the Shaliangzi and Maanqiao areas.The shear sense indicators and kinematic vorticity numbers(0.54–0.90)suggest these shear zones have sinistral shear and sub-simple shear deformation kinematics.The quartz’s dynamic recrystallization and c-axis fabric analysis in the Maanqiao shear zone(MSZ)revealed that the MSZ experienced deformation under green-schist facies conditions at∼400–500℃.The Shaliangzi shear zone deformed under amphibolite facies at∼500–700℃.The^(40)Ar/^(39)Ar(muscovite-biotite)dating of samples provided a plateau age of 121–123 Ma.Together with previously published data,our results concluded that QOB was dominated by compressional tectonics during the Late Early Cretaceous.Moreover,we suggested that the Siberian Block moved back to the south and Lhasa-Qiantang-Indochina Block to the north,which promoted intra-continental compressional tectonics.

Cartilage development is controlled by the highly synergistic proliferation and differentiation of growth plate chondrocytes,in which the Indian hedgehog(IHH)and parathyroid hormone-related protein-parathyroid hormone-1 receptor(PTHrP-PTH1R)feedback loop is crucial.The inositol-requiring enzyme 1a/X-box-binding protein-1 spliced(IRE1α/XBP1s)branch of the unfolded protein response(UPR)is essential for normal cartilage development.However,the precise role of ER stress effector IRE1α,encoded by endoplasmic reticulum to nucleus signaling 1(ERN1),in skeletal development remains unknown.Herein,we reported that loss of IRE1α accelerates chondrocyte hypertrophy and promotes endochondral bone growth.ERN1 acts as a negative regulator of chondrocyte proliferation and differentiation in postnatal growth plates.Its deficiency interrupted PTHrP/PTH1R and IHH homeostasis leading to impaired chondrocyte hypertrophy and differentiation.XBP1s,produced by p-IRE1α-mediated splicing,binds and up-regulates PTH1R and IHH,which coordinate cartilage development.Meanwhile,ER stress cannot be activated normally in ERN1-deficient chondrocytes.In conclusion,ERN1 deficiency accelerates chondrocyte hypertrophy and cartilage mineralization by impairing the homeostasis of the IHH and PTHrP/PTH1R feedback loop and ER stress.ERN1 may have a potential role as a new target for cartilage growth and maturation.

South of Xuejiawa,facing a small sandbar across the river,there is a not-so-large semi-enclosed bay.Adjacent to reed marshes and rich in aquatic resources,this place was once considered a"feng shui treasure"by fishermen,with a saying,"One night's haul feeds you for a month;One day's haul feeds you for a year,"locally known as Reed Bay.Later,as the number of intruding fishing boats increased,some set up"bewitching arrays"in the bay,drastically depleting the fish and shrimp populations until they became lifeless.Last winter,Reed Bay was designated a no-fishing zone by the government and later included in the comprehensive ecological restoration area of the easterm bank of the Yangtze River.

Worm-like micelles facilitate the intestinal mucus diffusion and drug accumulation for enhancing colorectal cancer therapy

Local delivery of nanoparticles holds promise for colorectal cancer(CRC)therapy.However,the presence of the mucus layer on the epithelium poses a significant challenge to drug delivery,thereby adversely affecting treatment efficiency.It is crucial to develop efficient drug delivery carriers that can effectively overcome mucus barriers to treat colorectal cancer.Herein,we utilized poly(1,4-butadiene)-b-poly(ethylene oxide)polymers to prepare four distinct geometries of polymeric micelles,namely linear micelles(LMs),worm-like micelles(WLMs),large spherical micelles(LSMs),and small spherical micelles(SSMs)to investigate the influence of shape effects on overcoming colonic mucosal barrier.We found that the carriers exhibited diverse shapes while maintaining comparable physicochemical properties.Of these,WLMs had an aspect ratio similar to segmented filamentous bacteria,which exhibited superior mucus penetration ability,leading to prolonged drug release kinetics and faster entry into epithelial cells compared to LSMs.Furthermore,rectally administrated 10-hydroxycamptothecin-loaded WLMs traversed the colorectal mucus in orthotopic CRC nude mice model,penetrated and accumulated within tumor tissue,and effectively aggregated within cancer cells,thereby inducing significantly robust antitumor outcomes in vivo.These findings underscore the significance of shape design in overcoming colonic mucosal absorption barriers,offering a novel approach for the development of drug delivery carriers tailored for effective tumor therapy.

Zinc metabolism at the cellular level is critical for many biological processes in the body.A key observation is the disruption of cellular homeostasis,often coinciding with disease progression.As an essential factor in maintaining cellular equilibrium,cellular zinc has been increasingly spotlighted in the context of disease development.Extensive research suggests zinc’s involvement in promoting malignancy and invasion in cancer cells,despite its low tissue concentration.This has led to a growing body of literature investigating zinc’s cellular metabolism,particularly the functions of zinc transporters and storage mechanisms during cancer progression.Zinc transportation is under the control of two major transporter families:SLC30(ZnT)for the excretion of zinc and SLC39(ZIP)for the zinc intake.Additionally,the storage of this essential element is predominantly mediated by metallothioneins(MTs).This review consolidates knowledge on the critical functions of cellular zinc signaling and underscores potential molecular pathways linking zinc metabolism to disease progression,with a special focus on cancer.We also compile a summary of clinical trials involving zinc ions.Given the main localization of zinc transporters at the cell membrane,the potential for targeted therapies,including small molecules and monoclonal antibodies,offers promising avenues for future exploration.

Mechanisms of Dangua Fang(丹瓜方)in multi-target and multi-method regulation of glycolipid metabolism based on phosphoproteomics

OBJECTIVE:To explore the mechanism of Dangua Fang(丹瓜方,DGR)in multi-target and multi-method regulation of glycolipid metabolism based on phosphoproteomics.METHODS:Sprague-Dawley rats with normal glucose levels were randomly divided into three groups,including a conventional diet control group(Group A),high-fat-highsugar diet model group(Group B),and DGR group(Group C,high-fat-high-sugar diet containing 20.5 g DGR).After 10 weeks of intervention,the fasting blood glucose(FBG),2 h blood glucose[PBG;using the oral glucose tolerance test(OGTT)],hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c),plasma total cholesterol(TC),and triglycerides(TG)were tested,and the livers of rats were removed to calculate the liver index.Then,hepatic portal TG were tested using the Gross permanent optimization-participatiory action planning enzymatic method and phosphoproteomics was performed using liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry(LC-MS/MS)analysis followed by database search and bioinformatics analysis.Finally,cell experiments were used to verify the results of phosphoproteomics.Phosphorylated mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase kinase kinase 4(MAP4k4)and phosphorylated adducin 1(ADD1)were detected using western blotting.RESULTS:DGR effectively reduced PBG,TG,and the liver index(Plin and eosin(HE)staining,red oil O staining,and Masson staining of liver tissue.The total spectrum was 805334,matched spectrum was 260471,accounting for accounting 32.3%,peptides were 19995,modified peptides were 14671,identified proteins were 4601,quantifiable proteins were 4417,identified sites were 15749,and quantified sites were 14659.Based on the threshold of expression fold change(>1.2),DGR upregulated the modification of 228 phosphorylation sites involving 204 corresponding function proteins,and downregulated the modification of 358 phosphorylation sites involving 358 corresponding function proteins,which included correcting 75 phosphorylation sites involving

A Fully-Integrated Memristor Chip for Edge Learning

It is still challenging to fully integrate computing in memory chip as edge learning devices.In recent work published on Science,a fully-integrated chip based on neuromorphic memristors was developed for edge learning as artificial neural networks with functionality of synapses,dendrites,and somas.A crossbar-array memristor chip facilitated edge learning including hardware realization,learning algorithm,and cycle-parallel sign-and threshold-based learning(STELLAR)scheme.The motion control and demonstration platforms were executed to improve the edge learning ability for adapting to new scenarios.

Rainbow Pancyclicity in a Collection of Graphs Under the Dirac-type Condition

Let G={Gi:i∈[n]} be a collection of not necessarily distinct n-vertex graphs with the same vertex set V,where G can be seen as an edge-colored(multi)graph and each Gi is the set of edges with color i.A graph F on V is called rainbow if any two edges of F come from different Gis’.We say that G is rainbow pancyclic if there is a rainbow cycle Cℓof lengthℓin G for each integerℓ2[3,n].In 2020,Joos and Kim proved a rainbow version of Dirac’s theorem:Ifδ(Gi)≥2/n for each i∈[n],then there is a rainbow Hamiltonian cycle in G.In this paper,under the same condition,we show that G is rainbow pancyclic except that n is even and G consists of n copies of Kn/2,n/2.This result supports the famous meta-conjecture posed by Bondy.

MP-3 microperimeter in early primary open angle glaucoma with a new pattern

AIM:To investigate macular microperimetry in patients with early primary open angle glaucoma(POAG)using a new custom-made pattern,and analyze the characteristics of macular sensitivity.METHODS:This case-control study included 38 patients with POAG,who were divided into pre-perimetric glaucoma(18 eyes of 18 patients),early-stage(20 eyes of 20 patients),and control(20 eyes of 20 patients)groups.All subjects underwent standard 24-2 humphrey visual field test.An MP-3 microperimeter with a new custom-made pattern(28 testing points distributed in four quadrants,covering the central 10°of the retina)was used to evaluate macular sensitivity.Ganglion cell complex(GCC)thicknesses were examined using an RS-3000 Advance OCT system.The features of structure and function were analysed per quadrant.RESULTS:The pre-perimetric glaucoma group had significantly lower inferior hemifield macular sensitivity compared to controls(Plier than conventional perimetry,particularly in pre-perimetric glaucoma cases in which it might be undetectable by conventional methods.The new custom-made pattern may improve th

Pulmonary embolism secondary to acute anterior ST-elevation myocardial infarction:a case report

Thrombophilia denotes a condition,whether acquired or hereditary,characterized by increased susceptibility to hypercoagulation.[1]This condition was first described in 1965,coinciding with the discovery of an inherited predisposition to venous thromboembolism(VTE)in patients deficient in antithrombin III.[2]While arterial and venous thromboses are common in hospitalized patients,acute myocardial infarction(AMI)and pulmonary embolism(PE)stand out as lifethreateningconditions.However,theoccurrenceof AMI complicated by PE is exceedingly rare,especially when considering cases where paradoxical embolism originating from a patent foramen ovale is absent.This report presents a case of AMI complicated with PE.A comprehensive understanding of the pathophysiology of this rare yet critical condition is important for ensuring prompt diagnosis and treatment.
