Tunable nitrogen crafted 2D-graphene nano-hybrid from industrial expansive and ecological approach as robust cathode microporous layer to improve performance of a direct methanol fuel cell

In this work, the excess water-stagnation issue in the high current region in direct methanol fuel cells(DMFCs) is resolved by using atomic precision modulated nitrogen-crafted graphene(NG) in the cathode microporous layer by utilizing simplistic,industrial-expansive and ecological strategy. Few-layer 2D-graphene(~2–5 nm thickness) is prepared by bath sonication approach from abundant feedstock-graphite and is treated with nitric acid to yield 1.8 wt.% uniformly dispersed nitrogen containing NG. Specifically, 1:4 weight ratio NG:carbon-black(CB) hybrid architecture, displays 0.252 V in 370 mA cm^(-2) with the peak power density of 93.4 mW cm^(-2), improving cell power density by 45.6% compared with standard one at 60℃ and 1 mol/L methanol/oxygen conditions at ultra-low catalyst loadings and displaying exceptional stability. Atomic insights into NG reveal that interplay between bonding configurations, altered hydrophobic/hydrophilic porosity of graphene(10.6% less wettability from contact angle and 13.1% high electrode porosity measurements) contribute to the better mass-transport-porogenic effect(16.3% high oxygen-permeability), mildly affecting the electron pathway(6.5% reduced in-plane electrical conductivity),overall significantly improving cell performance. Altogether, this work delivers multiple advantages, i.e., the usage of material from facile, sustainable and cost-effective routes, while improving DMFC performance with potential industrial promise.

Cross-cultural adaptation and validation of an ankle instability questionnaire for use in Chinese-speaking population

Background:The Identification of Functional Ankle Instability(IdFAI)is a valid and reliable tool to identify chronic ankle instability;however,it was developed in English,thus limiting its usage only to those who can read and write in *** objectives of our study were to(1)cross-culturally adapt a Chinese(Mandarin)version of the IdFAI and(2)determine the psychometric properties of the Chinese version ***:The cross-cultural adaptation procedures used by the investigators and translators followed previously published guidelines and included 6 stages:(1)initial translation,(2)synthesis of the translations,(3)back translation,(4)developing the pre-final version for field testing,(5)testing the pre-final version,and(6)finalizing the Chinese version of IdFAI(IdFAI-C).Five psychometric properties of the IdFAI-C were assessed from results of 2 participant groups:bilingual(n=20)and Chinese(n=625).Results:A high degree of agreement was found between the English version of IdFAI and IdFAI-C(intra-class correlation_(2,1)=0.995).An excellent internal consistency(Cronbach'sα=0.89),test—retest reliability(intra-class correlation_(2,1)=0.970),and construct validity(r(625)=0.67)was also found for the *** addition,the results of exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis indicated that ankle instability was the only construct measured from the ***:The IdFAI-C is a highly reliable and valid self-report questionnaire that can be used to assess ankle ***,we suggest that it can be used to effectively and accurately assess chronic ankle instability in clinical settings for Chinese-speaking individuals.

Dormancy represents a fascinating adaptive strategy for organisms to survive in unforgiving *** a period of dormancy,organisms often exhibit exceptional *** period is typically divided into hibernation and aestivation based on seasonal ***,the mechanisms by which organisms adapt to their environments during dormancy,as well as the potential relationships between different states of dormancy,deserve further ***,we selected Perccottus glenii and Protopterus annectens as the primary subjects to study hibernation and aestivation,*** on histological and transcriptomic analysis of multiple organs,we discovered that dormancy involved a coordinated functional response across *** analyses revealed noteworthy disparities between the two dormant species in their responses to extreme ***,similarities in gene expression patterns pertaining to energy metabolism,neural activity,and biosynthesis were noted during hibernation,suggesting a potential correlation between hibernation and *** further explore the relationship between these two phenomena,we analyzed other dormancy-capable species using data from publicly available *** comparative analysis revealed that most orthologous genes involved in metabolism,cell proliferation,and neural function exhibited consistent expression patterns during dormancy,indicating that the observed similarity between hibernation and aestivation may be attributable to convergent *** conclusion,this study enhances our comprehension of the dormancy phenomenon and offers new insights into the molecular mechanisms underpinning vertebrate dormancy.

Expression and functional characterization of platelet-derived growth factor receptor-like gene

AIM:To investigate the role of platelet-derived growth factor receptor-like gene(PDGFRL)in the anti-cancer therapy for colorectal cancers(CRC).METHODS:PDGFRL mRNA and protein levels were measured by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)and immunohistochemistry in CRC and colorectal normal *** prokaryotic expression vector was carried out in Escherichia coli(***),and purified by immobilized metal affinity *** effect of PDGFRL protein on CRC HCT-116 cells was detected by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazolyl-2)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide(MTT),clone counting,cell cycle,and wound healing ***:Both RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry showed that the expression of PDGFRL in colorectal normal tissues was higher than in cancer *** pET22b-PDGFRL prokaryotic expression vector was successfully expressed in ***,and the target protein was expressed in the form of inclusion *** purification and refolding,recombinant human PDGFRL(rhPDGFRL)could efficiently inhibit the proliferation and invasion of CRC HCT-116 cells detected by MTT,clone counting and wound healing ***,rhPDGFRL arrested HCT-116 cell cycling at the G0/G1 ***:PDGFRL is a potential gene for application in the anti-cancer therapy for CRC.

Micro-crack detection of nonlinear Lamb wave propagation in three-dimensional plates with mixed-frequency excitation

We propose a nonlinear ultrasonic technique by using the mixed-frequency signals excited Lamb waves to conduct micro-crack detection in thin plate *** models of three-dimensional(3D)aluminum plates and composite laminates are established by ABAQUS software,where the aluminum plate contains buried crack and composite laminates comprises cohesive element whose thickness is zero to simulate delamination *** interactions between the S0 mode Lamb wave and the buried micro-cracks of various dimensions are simulated by using the finite element *** frequency spectrum analysis is applied to the received time domain signal and fundamental frequency amplitudes,and sum and difference frequencies are extracted and *** results indicate that nonlinear Lamb waves have different sensitivities to various crack *** is a positive correlation among crack length,height,and sum and difference frequency amplitudes for an aluminum plate,with both amplitudes decreasing as crack thickness increased,i.e.,nonlinear effect weakens as the micro-crack becomes *** amplitudes of sum and difference frequency are positively correlated with the length and width of the zero-thickness cohesive element in the composite ***,amplitude ratio change is investigated and it can be used as an effective tool to detect inner defects in thin 3D plates.

Identification of superior clones by RAPD technology in Xanthoceras sorbifolia Bge.

It is very important to select and identify superior Xanthoceras sorbifolia Bge. trees for purposes of breeding and exploration. For our study, we selected superior X. sorbifolia trees using RAPD （random amplification of polymorphic DNA） technology. The results show that certain specific amplification bands emerged with significantly different frequencies between superior and non-superior trees. The 1400-bp band of No. 2121 primer emerged in the superior trees at a frequency 2.4 times that of the non-superior trees and the 600-bp band of No. 2153 primer in the non-superior trees at a frequency 2.5 times that of the superior trees There were very significant differences between the superior and non-superior trees. The frequency of the 1600-bp band of No. 1161 primer was the same in both kinds of trees, but significant differences were observed in point frequency （the frequency of the superior trees is 1,4 times that of the non-superior trees）. These bands can be used as important targets to distinguish between superior and non-superior trees. The use of a combination of amplified bands simultaneously can play a guiding role in the selection of superior X. sorbifolia trees.

Palaeodietary study of Sanxingcun Site,Jintan,Jiangsu

C and N stable isotope ratios of 19 human bones in Sanxingcun Site, Jintan, Jiangsu Province, were measured to explore the lifestyle and social economic structure. Although the bone collagen degraded to different extents, the atomic ratio of C/N was located in the range of 2.9-3.6, indicating that they were preserved very well. Average δ13C value (20.05±0.21‰), average δ 15N value (9.69 ±0.33‰) and poor positive correlation between each other suggested that rice agriculture was dominant with hunt-ing-fishing supplemented in human lifestyle. Poor negative correlation between δ 15N values and C3 percentages of foods implied relative independence of rice agriculture and hunting-fishing. Compared to Hemudu Site and Qingpu Site, rice agriculture was developed further, but hunting-fishing decreased. The mode for people in Sanxingcun Site to get the meat was still in the initial exploitation.

Anti-tumor effect of matrine combined with cisplatin on rat models of cervical cancer

Objective:To observe the anti-tumor effect of matrine combined with cisplatin on U14 rat models of cervical ***:A total of 80 female Kunming rats were used to establish U14 rat models of cervical cancer and then divided into groups Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ and Ⅳ,with 20 rats in *** Group Ⅰ,the control group,injection of normal saline was given around the *** Group Ⅱ,injection of 2 mg/kg cisplatin was given around the *** Group Ⅲ,injection of 75 mg/kg matrine was given around the tumors while the combined injection of matrine and cisplatin was given for Group Ⅳ with the same doses as Groups Ⅱand Ⅲ.The animals were sacrificed 10 d after the injection and tumors were taken out for the comparisons of tumor weights after injection and calculation of anti-tumor rates,while thymus and spleen were taken for thymus index and spleen *** in eyeball was collected for determination of changes in serum creatinine and urea nitrogen *** of tumor issue were prepared and morphological changes in tumor tissue cells were observed by using immunohistochemistry ***:After injection,the thymus index and spleen index in Groups Ⅲ and Ⅳ were significantly higher than those in Groups Ⅰ and Ⅱ(P<0.05)while the two indexes in Group Ⅱ were significantly lower than Group Ⅰ(P<0.05).The tumor weights in Groups Ⅱ and Ⅳ were significantly smaller than those in Groups Ⅰ and Ⅲ(P<0.05) with significantly higher anti-tumor rates than Groups Ⅰ and Ⅲ(P<0.05).The serum creatinine and urea nitrogen levels in Groups Ⅲ and Ⅳ were significantly lower than Group Ⅱ(P<0.05) and the two indicators in Group Ⅲ were significantly lower than those in Group Ⅳ(P<0.05).The observation under the histological microscope showed densely arranged tumor cells in Group Ⅰ,growing as a crumby structure and diffuse appearance,with hyperchromatic and large nuclei,and abundant *** the case of Group Ⅱ,it showed less tumor cells,with extensive degenerative necrosis,sparse arrangement

A design of ultrathin crystalline silicon solar cell with Si3 N4 circular truncated cone holes(CTCs)arrays on the top is *** this article,we perform an optical simulation of the *** finite-difference time-domain method is used to calculate the optical absorption of different periods,radius of top and bottom circles and depth of Si3 N4 *** short-circuit current density generated by the optimized cells(30.17 mA/cm^2)is 32.44%more than the value gained by control group(with flat Si3 N4).Then adding a layer of back silver to allow us to better analyze optical ***,we simulate the optimization of the same configuration of different silicon thicknesses andfind that our structure does enhance the light *** work uses a combined path towards achieving higher photocurrent ultrathin crystalline silicon solar cells by constructing the texture of anti-reflection coating.
