Fast and abundant in vitro spontaneous haustorium formation in root hemiparasitic plant Pedicularis kansuensis Maxim. (Orobanchaceae)

Haustorium formation is the characteristic feature of all parasitic plants and a vital process for successful *** investigations on haustorium initiation and development are constricted to induced processes by host-derived signals or synthetic *** haustorium formation in the absence of host signals,a process representing an early stage in the evolution of parasitic plants,remains largely *** of fast and frequent formation of spontaneous haustoria greatly hinders full understanding of haustorium formation in root *** this study,seedlings of Pedicularis kansuensis Maxim.,a facultative root hemiparasitic species in Orobanchaceae observed to produce many spontaneous haustoria,were grown in autoclaved water agar in the absence of any known haustoriuminducing *** aimed to test the temporal and developmental pattern of spontaneous haustorium ***,effects of sucrose supply and root contact on spontaneous haustorium formation were *** haustoria were observed starting from six days after germination,much earlier than previously reported root hemiparasites.A majority of the spontaneous haustoria formed on lateral *** of seedlings with spontaneous haustoria was 28.8% when grown on water agar plates,with a mean of four haustoria per seedling two weeks after *** formation by seedlings grown in water agar amended with 2% sucrose was more than twice of those without sucrose *** grown seedlings were able to develop spontaneous haustoria at similar levels as those grown with another conspecific *** view of the fast and abundant formation of spontaneous haustoria,*** may be developed as an excellent experimental system in future investigations for unraveling endogenous regulation of haustorium initiation and development in root hemiparasitic plants.

Weedy plants affect the biodiversity and ecosystem function as well as the crop and fodder plant production. However, adequate management requires detailed knowledge of the taxonomic identity of these plants. Here, we focused on a hemiparasitic Pedicularis species（Orobanchaceae）, which occurs at high densities and results in significant biomass reductions in forage grasses in Bayanbulak Grassland of Xinjiang. The identity of this target species is not clear, with conflicting reports in publications and in herbarium collections. Hence, clear and management-relevant information on demography and reproductive ecology is difficult to be obtained from the literature. Therefore, we analyzed field and archival materials collected from Xinjiang in order to clarify the identity and distribution of the target species. Morphological analyses suggested that the populations at Bayanbulak Grassland should be Pedicularis kansuensis Maxim. rather than P. verticillata L. which has been accepted in the available literature. Phylogenetic analysis with a combination of three barcodes（mat K, rbc L and trn H-psb A） uniting a clade of P. kansuensis and individuals from Bayanbulak Grassland populations with 100% bootstrap support, confirmed the target species to be P. kansuensis. Anatomical investigations and field observations showed that the target species is an annual or biennial herb, which also fits with the life cycle as P. kansuensis. Based on archive material and field observations, we verified that the distribution of P. kansuensis is mainly concentrated in the Tianshan Mountains of Xinjiang.

Boosting 5-ALA-based photodynamic therapy by a liposomal nanomedicine through intracellular iron ion regulation

5-Aminolevulinic acid(5-ALA)has been approved for clinical photodynamic therapy(PDT)due to its negligible photosensitive ***,the curative effect of 5-ALA is restricted by intracellular biotransformation inactivation of 5-ALA and potential DNA repair of tumor *** by the crucial function of iron ions in 5-ALA transformation and DNA repair,a liposomal nanomedicine(MFLs@5-ALA/DFO)with intracellular iron ion regulation property was developed for boosting the PDT of 5-ALA,which was prepared by co-encapsulating 5-ALA and DFO(deferoxamine,a special iron chelator)into the membrane fusion liposomes(MFLs).MFLs@5-ALA/DFO showed an improved pharmaceutical behavior and rapidly fused with tumor cell membrane for 5-ALA and DFO ***@5-ALA/DFO could efficiently reduce iron ion,thus blocking the biotransformation of photosensitive protoporphyrin IX(Pp IX)to heme,realizing significant accumulation of ***,the activity of DNA repair enzyme was also inhibited with the reduction of iron ion,resulting in the aggravated DNA damage in tumor *** findings showed MFLs@5-ALA/DFO had potential to be applied for enhanced PDT of 5-ALA.

N-P fertilization did not reduce AMF abundance or diversity but alter AMF composition in an alpine grassland infested by a root hemiparasitic plant

Fertilization has been shown to have suppressive effects on arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi(AMF) and root hemiparasites separately in numerous investigations, but its effects on AMF in the presence of root hemiparasites remain untested. In view of the contrasting nutritional effects of AMF and root hemiparasites on host plants, we tested the hypothesis that fertilization may not show strong suppressive effects on AMF when a plant community was infested by abundant hemiparasitic plants. Plants and soil samples were collected from experimental field plots in Bayanbulak Grassland, where N and P fertilizers had been applied for three continuous years for control against a spreading root hemiparasite, Pedicularis kansuensis. Shoot and root biomass of each plant functional group were determined. Root AMF colonization levels, soil spore abundance, and extraradical hyphae length density were measured for three soil depths(0 e10 cm, 10 e20 cm, 20 e30 cm). Partial 18 S r RNA gene sequencing was used to detect AMF diversity and community composition. In addition, we analyzed the relationship between relative abundance of different AMF genera and environmental factors using Spearman's correlation method. In contrast to suppressive effects reported by many previous studies, fertilization showed no significant effects on AMF root colonization or AMF species diversity in the soil. Instead, a marked increase in soil spore abundance and extraradical hyphae length density were observed. However, fertilization altered relative abundance and AMF composition in the soil. Our results support the hypothesis that fertilization does not significantly influence the abundance and diversity of AMF in a plant community infested by P. kansuensis.

Removal of Heteroaromatic Sulfur Compounds by a Non-noble Metal Fe Single-atom Adsorbent

Sulfur-containing compounds(SCCs)must be removed from fuels before *** this study,a novel non-noble metal Fe single-atom adsorbent(SA-Fe/CN)was synthesized using a core-shell strategy and applied for the adsorptive removal of benzothiophene(BT)and dibenzothiophene(DBT).The adsorption isotherms,thermodynamics,kinetics,and adsorption-regeneration cycles of DBT and BT on SA-Fe/CN were ***-Fe/CN exhibited a significant capacity to adsorb DBT,and the isothermal equilibrium was well described by the Langmuir *** Gibbs free energy values were negative(ΔG^(0)<0),indicating that the adsorption of DBT and BT was favored and *** adsorption process conformed to the pseudo-second-order kinetic model with high R^(2) values(0.9994,0.9987).The adsorption capacity of SA-Fe/CN for DBT and BT reached 163.21 mg/g and 90.35 mg/g,respectively,due to the highly active sites of the single atom and electrostatic interaction with the ***,SA-Fe/CN may be a promising adsorbent for SCC removal.

Despite their ubiquitous distribution and significant ecological roles,soil microorganisms have long been neglected in investigations addressing parasitic planthost *** nutrient deprivation is a primary cause of host damage by parasitic plants,we hypothesized that beneficial soil microorganisms conferring nutrient benefits to parasitized hosts may play important roles in alleviating *** conducted a pot cultivation experiment to test the inoculation effect of an arbuscular mycorrhizal（AM） fungus（Glomus mosseae）,a rhizobium（Rhizobium leguminosarum） and their interactive effects,on alleviation of damage to a legume host（Trifolium repens） by two root hemiparasitic plants with different nutrient requirements（N-demanding Pedicularis rex and P-demanding ***）.This is the first study to test interactive effects of AM fungi and rhizobia on parasitic plant-host *** knowledge obtained will not only enable better understanding of the function of soil microorganisms in alleviating host damage induced by root hemiparasites,but also help broaden understanding of how multiple contrasting associations with an individual host affect each *** results demonstrated strong effects of beneficial microorganisms on alleviating host damage by root *** using two root hemiparasites with contrasting nutrient requirements,we showed that the relative benefits of microbial inoculation were related to different nutritional interactions between the host and *** results also showed,though indirectly,that different hemiparasites may impose differential nutrient deprivation on their *** work needs to take soil microorganisms into account when addressing host-parasite interactions involving root hemiparasitic *** of the multi-species interactions along a gradient of nutrient supply will increase understanding of regulation mechanisms influencing the interactions between such nutrient-driving symbioses.

中扬子西部地区经历了多旋回沉积-构造演化,纵向上发育多套生储盖组合,烃源岩为碳质页岩、碳酸盐岩及煤等多种岩性,多数达到了过成熟阶段,深部震旦系—寒武系烃源岩均处于过成熟晚期,具有多阶段生烃、晚期原油裂解供气特征。在多旋回构造演化中,中扬子西部海相天然气呈现多源多期或同源多期混合聚集、多期调整及晚期次生变化的复杂成藏过程。基于对中扬子西部地质演化背景分析和前人研究成果,分析了区域有效主力烃源岩,从天然气组分含量、组分参数相关性、烷烃气碳同位素等资料剖析了建南气田各层系天然气地球化学特征,结合区域油气成藏地质及川东气区资料,厘清了建南气田海相天然气成因及气源。研究认为,建南气田海相天然气均为干气,烷烃气碳同位素呈部分倒转,发生过原油裂解供气;二叠系长兴组及下三叠统飞仙关组、嘉陵江组气藏气源来自二叠系烃源岩,基本没有志留系甚至更深部气源供给,由原油裂解气和多类型干酪根降解气混合聚集而成,原油裂解气占主体;志留系韩家店组气藏和石炭系黄龙组气藏属于同源不同阶段天然气混合成因,原油裂解气占主体,气源母质为上奥陶统五峰组—下志留统龙马溪组碳质页岩,几乎没有受到来自震旦系—寒武系烃源岩的天然气充注。因此,中扬子西部地区海相天然气勘探潜力大,尤其以保存条件较好的鄂西渝东区为主,震旦系、寒武系及志留系天然气勘探前景甚好。

孝在传统社会中包含养和敬两方面的内容,这是因为孝一方面来源于自然情感,另一方面又有一定的道德因素。但到了现代社会,在相当长的一段时间内,养掩盖了敬,孝也就演变成了养老,以支付赡养费为主要表现形式。随着生活水平的提高,敬的因素日益重要,不论是立法还是司法都试图解决这一问题。但是由于社会条件的变化,社会和法律的价值基础都发生改变,传统社会中孝的存在所需的道德基础转变成现代社会中的法律责任,道德性较强的敬的实现受到限制。在这种情况下,必须在进一步分析和了解传统的基础上寻求另外的解决方法,从而完成对敬的实现。

气-液-固三相流化床因混合均匀、相间接触面积大、传热传质速率快且温度易于控制等优点在工业领域广泛应用,但气-液-固三相的流动复杂且难以测定。利用小波包分析方法,计算经4层小波分解后各个频带的能量占比,利用能量占比特征对气-液-固三相流的流型进行识别。实验结果表明,利用小波包多分辨的优点,可以有效提取气-液-固三相流的流型特征;利用小波包能量占比特征可以准确地识别气-液-固三相流流型,有效识别率达90.95%,可为封闭或浑浊体系中气-液-固三相流流型的判别提供借鉴。
