BACKGROUND After approval for clinical use in 2017 early investigations of ultra-high-field abdominal magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)have demonstrated the feasibility as well as diagnostic capabilities of liver,kidney,and prostate MRI at 7-Tesla.However,the elevation of the field strength to 7-Tesla not only brought advantages to abdominal MRI but also presented considerable challenges and drawbacks,primarily stemming from heightened artifacts and limitations in specific Absorption Rate,etc.Furthermore,evidence in the literature is relatively scarce concerning human studies in comparison to phantom/animal studies which necessitates an investigation into the evidence so far in humans and summarizing all relevant evidence.AIM To offer a comprehensive overview of current literature on clinical abdominal 7T MRI that emphasizes current trends,details relevant challenges,and provides a concise set of potential solutions.METHODs This systematic review adheres to Preferred Reporting Items for systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines.A PubMed search,utilizing Medical subject Headings terms such as"7-Tesla"and organ-specific terms,was conducted for articles published between January 1,1985,and July 25,2023.Eligibility criteria included studies exploring 7T MRI for imaging human abdominal organs,encompassing various study types(in-vivo/ex-vivo,method development,reviews/meta-analyses).Exclusion criteria involved animal studies and those lacking extractable data.study selection involved initial identification via title/abstract,followed by a full-text review by two researchers,with discrepancies resolved through discussion.Data extraction covered publication details,study design,population,sample size,7T MRI protocol,image characteristics,endpoints,and conclusions.REsULTs The systematic review included a total of 21 studies.The distribution of clinical 7T abdominal imaging studies revealed a predominant focus on the prostate(n=8),followed by the kidney(n=6)and the hepatobiliary system(n=5).studies on these organs,and

sickle cell disease （sCD） is an inherited disorder of hemoglobin in which the abnormal hemoglobin s polymerizes when deoxygenated. This polymerization of hemoglobin s not only results in hemolysis and vaso- occlusion but also precipitates inflammation, oxidative stress and chronic organ dysfunction. Oxidative stress is increasingly recognized as an important intermediate in these pathophysiological processes and is therefore an important target for therapeutic intervention. The transcription factor nuclear erythroid derived- 2 related factor 2 （Nrf2） controls the expression of anti-oxidant enzymes and is emerging as a protein whose function can be exploited with therapeutic intent. This review article is focused on triterpenoids that activate Nrf2, and their potential for reducing oxidative stress in sCD as an approach to prevent organ dysfunction associated with this disease. A brief overview of oxidative stress in the clinical context of sCD is accompanied by a discussion of several pathophysiological mechanisms contributing to oxidative stress. Finally, these mechanisms are then related to current management strategies in sCD that are either utilized currently or under evaluation. The article concludes with a perspective on the potential of the various therapeutic interventions to reduce oxidative stress and morbidity associated with sCD.

Circulating adhesion molecules in patients with virus-related chronic diseases of the liver

AIM: In the inflammatory state, intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) and vascular cellular adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1) play a key role in promoting migration of immunological cells from the circulation to target site.Aim of our study was to investigate soluble forms of these molecules in patients with virus-related chronic liver diseases, to assess their behavior in different pathologies and correlation with severity of liver damage.METHODs: Circulating ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 were assayed by EIA commercial kits (R&D system Co.,Abington, UK) in 23 patients with chronic active hepatitis (CH), 50 subjects affected by liver cirrhosis (LC) and 15 healthy controls comparable for sex and age. In patients, serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AsT) were also detected by autoanalyzer.REsULTs: LC patients had significantly higher ICAM-1 values than CH patients (38.56±7.4 ng/mL vs 20.89±6.42 ng/mL; P＜0.001) and these ones had significantly higher values than controls (12.92±1.08 ng/mL; P＜0.001). In CH group, ICAM-1 levels were significantly related to inflammatory activity (P= 0.041) and ALT values (r= 0.77;P＜0.05). VCAM-1 values were significantly increased only in LC patients (P＜0.001) and related to severity of liver impairment.CONCLUsION: These findings suggest that the determination of serum ICAM-1 can be considered as an additional useful marker of hepatocellular necrosis and inflammatory activity in chronic hepatitis, while serum VCAM-1 is an indicator of liver fibrogenesis and severity of disease in cirrhosis.

The experimental data concerning the58Ni+48Ca reaction at Elab(Ni)=25A MeV,collected by using the CHIMERA 4π device,have been analyzed in order to investigate the competition among different reaction mechanisms for central collisions in the Fermi energy domain.As a main criterion for centrality selection we have chosen the flow angle(flow) method,making an event-by-event analysis that considers the shape of events,as it is determined by the eigenvectors of the experimental kinetic-energy tensor.For the selected central events(flow >60°) some global variables,good to characterize the pattern of central collisions have been constructed.The main features of the reaction products were explored by using different constraints on some of the relevant observables,like mass and velocity distributions and their correlations.Much emphasis was devoted,for central collisions,to the competition between fusion-evaporation processes with subsequent identification of a heavy residue and a possible multifragmentation mechanism of a well defined(if any) transient nuclear system.Dynamical evolution of the system and pre-equilibrium emission were taken into account by simulating the reactions in the framework of transport theories.Different approaches have been envisaged(dynamical stochastic BNV calculations + sequential sIMON code,QMD,CoMD,etc.).Preliminary comparison of the experimental data with BNV calculations shows reasonable agreement with the assumption of sequential multifragmentation emission in the mass region of IMFs close to the heavy residues.Possible deviations from sequential processes were found for those IMFs in the region of masses intermediate between the mass of heavy residues and the mass of light IMFs.Further simulations are in progress.The experimental analysis will be enriched also by information obtained inspecting the IMF-IMF correlation function,in order to elucidated the nature of space-time decay property of the emitting source associated with events having the largest IMF multiplicity.

Aims: We sought to determine whether the extent of myocardial ischaemia on the admission electrocardiogram(ECG) has independent predictive value for short-term risk stratification of patients with non-sT-segment elevation acute coronary syndromes(NsTE ACs). Although the presence of ischaemic ECG changes on admission has been shown to predict outcome, the relationship between the extent of ECG changes and the risk of cardiac events is still ill defined. Methods and results: We analysed the admission ECGs of 5192 ACs patients enrolled in the GUsTO-IIb trial, without an ECG indication for thrombolysis. ECG tracings showing one or more of the following were eligible: sT-segment depression >0.5 mm, T-wave inversion >1 mm, and sT-segment elevation >0.5 mm buts associated with unfavourable 30 day outcomes in a univariable analysis were further assessed in a multivariable logistic regression model including independent clinical predictors. In the multivariable clinical, enzymatic, and ECG model, the sum of sT-segment depression(in millimetres) in all leads was a powerful independent predictor of 30 day death(Ps increase in risk with the extent of sT-segment depression. The sum of sT-segment depression(Psence of minimal inferior sT-segment elevation(PsT-segment elevation(P=0.0182) were also independent predictors of the composite of death and myocardial infarction or reinfarction. The extent of sT-segment depression showed a highly significant correlation with the prevalence of three-vessel(Psease(Pso with the peak levels of creatine kinase(Psode of ACs. Conclusion: In patients with NsTE ACs, the sum of sT segment depression in all ECG leads is a powerful predictor of all-cause mortality at 30 days, independent of clinical variables and correlates with the extent and severity of coronary artery disease. A 112-day experiment was conducted to economically evaluate the production of eggs from commercial layers submitted to diets supplemented with levels of plant extracts (dried turmeric powder) added or not to vitamin E. A total of 432 20-week-old white layers were used, distributed in an entirely randomized design, in a 4 × 3 factor scheme (turmeric extract levels and vitamin E levels), with 6 repetitions of 6 birds per cage. The treatments consisted of four levels of turmeric extract inclusion (0;0.1%;0.2% and 0.3%) and three levels of vitamin E inclusion (0;50 and 100 IU/kg). The results calculated at work were favorable to the activity, and the items that most influenced the expenses in the effective production cost were: poultry, feed and labor, respectively. The best economic response in egg production was obtained by layers that consumed 100 IU/kg vitamin E and 0.2% turmeric;because the leveling point represents that the activity equals the revenues with the costs. The best profitability index was found in treatment that contained 50 IU/kg vitamin E and 0.1% turmeric com (16.78%).

AIM To present the current state-of-the art of molecular imaging in the management of patients affected by inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).METHODs A systematic review of the literature was performed in order to find important original articles on the role of molecular imaging in the management of patients affected by IBD. The search was updated until February 2016 and limited to articles in English.REsULTs Fifty-five original articles were included in this review, highlighting the role of single photon emission tomography and positron emission tomography. CONCLUsION To date, molecular imaging represents a useful tool to detect active disease in IBD. However, the available data need to be validated in prospective multicenter studies on larger patient samples.

本文的目的是分析和提出解决南（中国）海主权争端僵局的潜在替代方案。该地区的背景和现状表明．主权争端不太可能在可预见的未来得到解决。基于国际法的传统争端解决机制，包括外交谈判和第三方仲裁，尽管被许多外交官和学者所推荐，但至少在不久的将来不太会在南（中国）海起到作用。由于在贯彻实施这些机制方面可能存在的困难，油气储备“共同开发”以及海洋环境和共享资源“区域合作”被提了出来，作为规避这些主权争端的备选方案。然而，本文认为，油气储备的共同开发在不久的将来同样不太可能起到作用．因为它也有与传统机制同样的弱点，任何解决方案都可能受到主权的影响。另一方面，合作已被公认为国际法和国际关系中的一个必要和基本原则．加之周边各方根据《联合国海洋法公约》和许多其他国际环境公约做出了许多“公域”合作的法律承诺，该地区有关公域的一些合作活动通常都是在双边或多边的基础上开展的。尽管在最终解决主权争端上没有进展。但对所有相关国家而言．在不久的将来，南（中国）海的区域合作也许是一种可行的替代方案。一如既往，所有各方的政治意愿对这种努力的成功是至关重要的。
