Pancreatic cysts are mostly incidental findings on computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging scans,with few patients presenting with abdominal pain or other *** accurate diagnosis of cysts is important as management depends on the type(neoplastic or non-neoplastic).Cross-sectional imaging is fast being replaced with endoscopic ultrasound(EUS)and various techniques based on that such as EUS-guided fine needle aspiration,EUS-guided needle confocal laser endomicroscopy,EUS-through-the-needle biopsy,and contrast-enhanced *** studies have reported varying diagnostic and adverse event rates with these *** addition,American,European,and Kyoto guidelines for the diagnosis and management of pancreatic cysts have provided different *** this editorial,we elaborate on the clinical guidelines,recent studies,and comparison of different endoscopic methods for the diagnosis of pancreatic cysts.

Solutions to the Modified Poschl-Teller Potential in d-dimensions

An approximate solution of the d-dimensional Schrodinger equation with the modified Posehl-Teller potential is obtained with an approximation of the centrifugal term. Solution to the corresponding hyper-radial equation is given using the conventional Nikiforov-Uvarov method. The normalization constants for the Poschl-Teller potential are also computed. The expectation values of 〈r^-2 and 〈V（r）〉 are also obtained using the Feynman- Hellmann theorem.

We report on commissioning experiments at the high-energy,high-temperature(HHT)target area at the GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung GmbH,darmstadt,Germany,combining for the first time intense pulses of heavy ions from the SIS18 synchrotron with high-energy laser pulses from the PHELIX laser *** demonstrate the use of X-ray diagnostic techniques based on intense laserdriven X-ray sources,which will allow probing of large samples volumetrically heated by the intense heavy-ion beams.A new target chamber as well as optical diagnostics for ion-beam characterization and fast pyrometric temperature measurements complement the experimental *** platform is designed for experiments at the future Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research in Europe GmbH(FAIR),where unprecedented ion-beam intensities will enable the generation of millimeter-sized samples under high-energy-density conditions.

Forging CLIL Teacher Identities in Kazakhstan: developmental Pathways of Two University Teachers

As universities in Kazakhstan continue to address the challenges that come with developing English-medium instruction (EMI) programs, university Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) teachers need to develop capacities to teach in English, while their English teacher counterparts need to develop content-specific pedagogical knowledge. Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) pedagogies, defined as the integration of both language and content curricular goals, have emerged as a vehicle to facilitate this development for both types of teachers. However, what it means to be a CLIL teacher may vary considerably as teachers leverage their professional knowledge and personal experiences. We, therefore, explore teachers’ conceptions of CLIL and how their disciplinary, linguistic, and pedagogical backgrounds enable or burden them to forge a “CLIL teacher” identity. This qualitative study illustrates the salient points of the journeys taken by two university teachers, one a specialist in oil and gas, the other an English teacher and teacher educator. drawing on extended one-on-one interviews, we present two teachers’ experiences through a series of CLIL-informed workshops. Using a multidisciplinary analytical framework, we map the ways in which the two teacher participants negotiate their identities in relation to CLIL. The findings highlight the importance of understanding teacher experiences, particularly their language learning backgrounds, attitudes toward supporting student learning, and relationships with their colleagues as they work to adapt to teaching English and STEM subjects in university EMI contexts.

The development of the giant magnetostrictive rare earth-iron materials is reported from their discovery in the early 1970's to their present use in transducer and sensor applications. Fifteen broad market areas, ranging from miniature devices in the medical industry to high powder sonar and seismic sources have been identified. A world-wide customer base in these high technology fields has been established and the superior properties of these materials are responsible for the rapid growth of the magnetostrictive transducer industries. The critical design criteria that lead to efficient devices are reported and the performance of several of these products is presented. The key patents associated with these giant magnetostrictive materials and devices using these materials are reviewed. The present and future of these technologies in reference to commercialization, market growth and the impact on the many transduction industries are discussed. (Author abstract) 9 Refs.

The thermal nanofluids have garnered widespread attention for their use in multiple thermal systems, including heating processes, sustainable energy, and nuclear reactions. Research on nanofluids has revealed that the thermal efficiencies of such materials are adversely affected by various thermal features. The purpose of the current work is to demonstrate the thermal analysis of Jeffrey nanofluids with the suspension of microorganisms in the presence of variable thermal sources. The variable effects of thermal conductivity, Brownian diffusivity, and motile density are utilized. The investigated model also reveals the contributions of radiation phenomena and chemical reactions. A porous, saturated, moving surface with a suction phenomenon promotes flow. The modeling of the problem is based on the implementation of the Cattaneo-Christov *** convective thermal constraints are used to promote the heat transfer features. A simplified form of the governing model is treated with the assistance of a shooting technique. The physical effects of different parameters for the problem are presented. The current problem justifies its applications in heat transfer, coating processes, heat exchangers, cooling systems in microelectronics, solar systems, chemical processes, etc.

Predicting scour beneath subsea pipelines from existing small free span depths under steady currents

An equation was developed to predict current-induced scour beneath subsea pipelines in areas with small span depths,*** equations for scour prediction are only applicable to partially buried *** existence of small span depths(i.e.S/dder a pipeline with a small S/***-scale two-dimensional computational fluid dynamics(CFd)simulations were performed using the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes approach and the Shear stress transport k-ωturbulence *** predict the occurrence of scour,the computed maximum bed shear stress beneath the pipe was converted to the dimensionless Shields parameter,and compared with the critical Shields parameter based on the mean sediment grain *** numerical setup was verified,and a good agreement was found between model-scale CFd data and experimental *** data were obtained to determine the mean grain size,far field current velocity and to measure the span depths along the surveyed pipe length.A trend line equation was fitted to the full-scale CFd data,whereby the maximum Shields parameter beneath the pipe can be calculated based on the undisturbed Shields parameter and S/d.

Selective occlusion of tumor vasculature has proven to be an effective strategy for cancer *** vascular coagulation agents,the extracellular domain of coagulation-inducing protein tissue factor,truncated tissue factor(tTF),is the most widely *** the truncated protein exhibits no coagulation activity and is rapidly cleared in the circulation,free tTF cannot be used for cancer treatment on its own but must be combined with other *** here developed a novel,tumor-specific tTF delivery system through coupling tTF with the dNA aptamer,AS1411,which selectively binds to nucleolin receptors overexpressing on the surface of tumor vascular endothelial cells and is specifically cytotoxic to target *** administration of the tTF-AS1411 conjugates into tumor-bearing animals induced intravascular thrombosis solely in tumors,thus reducing tumor blood supply and inducing tumor necrosis without apparent side *** conjugate represents a uniquely attractive candidate for the clinical translation of vessel occlusion agent for cancer therapy.
