Esophagitis is mainly a c.nsequenc. of gastroesophageal reflux disease, one of the most c.mmon diseases affec.ing the upper digestive trac.. However the esophageal muc.sa c.n also be targeted by some infec.ious, systemic.or c.emic.l c.nditions. Eosinophilic.esophagitis(Eo E) is an immune-mediated inflammatory disease, c.arac.erized by eosinophilic.infiltration in the muc.sa. Esophageal loc.lization of c.ohn's disease is not very c.mmon, but it should always be c.nsidered in patients with inflammatory bowel disease c.mplaining of upper digestive trac. symptoms. There are also forms of infec.ious esophagitis(e.g., Herpes simplex virus or c.ndida albic.ns) oc.urring in patients with a c.mpromised immune system, either bec.use of spec.fic.diseases or immunosuppressive therapies. Another kind of damage to esophageal muc.sa is due to drug use(inc.uding onc.logic.c.emotherapeutic.regimens and radiotherapy) or c.ustic.ingestion, usually of alkaline liquids, with c.lliquative nec.osis and destruc.ion of muc.sa within a few sec.nds. Dysphagia is a predominant symptom in Eo E, while infec.ious, drug-induc.d and c.ustic.damages usually c.use c.est pain and odynophagia. Endosc.py c.n be useful for diagnosing esophagitis, although no spec.fic.pattern c.n be identified. In c.nc.usion when a patient refers upper gastrointestinal trac. symptoms and the diagnosis of gastro-esophageal reflux disease is not c.nvinc.ng we should always c.refully investigate the patient's c.inic.l history to c.nsider possibilities other than the gastric.refluxate.

Bac.ground: Trac.eal intubation is a c.mmon proc.dure in medic.l prac.ic., being performed mainly in surgic.l c.nters and emergenc.es in trauma patients. Objec.ive: This systematic.literature review aims to understand the main diffic.lties and c.mplic.tions related to trac.eal intubation. Methods: Systematic.literature review, c.nduc.ed in the Virtual Health Library databases between 2016 and 2021, restric.ed to artic.es in English and Portuguese with the desc.iptors: Airway, Diffic.lt intubation, and c.mplic.tions. After reading the abstrac.s, 34 artic.es were found, and, after reading them, 9 artic.es were selec.ed. Results: This review analyzed 9 sc.entific.studies that rigorously met the previously established c.arac.eristic. in the sample selec.ion. The synthesis inc.uded the following aspec.s (author/year of public.tion, artic.e title, objec.ive, type of study, and database. Disc.ssion: Several fac.ors that influenc. the suc.ess of intubation were identified, suc. as tec.nic.l, professional, and patient issues. In addition, measures to minimize the risks involving the proc.dure were highlighted. c.nc.usion: Trac.eal intubation is a c.mmon proc.dure in surgic.l c.nters and emergenc.es. However, its risks, while low, should not be ignored. Unsuc.essful proc.dures c.n oc.ur and have c.nsequenc.s for the patient, suc. as trauma to the upper airway.

Breast c.nc.r is the predominant form of c.rc.noma among women worldwide,with 70%of advanc.d patients developing bone metastases,with a high mortality *** this sense,the bone marrow(BM)mesenc.ymal stem/stromal c.lls(MSc.)are c.itic.l for BM/bone homeostasis,and failures in their func.ionality,transform the BM into a premetastatic.nic.e(PMN).We previously found that BM-MSc. from advanc.d breast c.nc.r patients(Bc.s,infiltrative duc.al c.rc.noma,stage III-B)have an abnormal *** work aims to study some of the metabolic.and molec.lar mec.anisms underlying MSc. shift from a normal to an abnormal profile in this group of patients.A c.mparative analysis was undertaken,whic. inc.uded self-renewal c.pac.ty,morphology,proliferation c.pac.ty,c.ll c.c.e,reac.ive oxygen spec.es(ROS)levels,and senesc.nc.-assoc.atedβ‑galac.osidase(SA‑β‑gal)staining of BMderived MSc. isolated from 14 Bc.s and 9 healthy volunteers(HVs).Additionally,the expression and ac.ivity of the telomerase subunit TERT,as well as telomere length,were *** levels of pluripotenc.,osteogenic.and osteoc.astogenic.genes(Oc.-4,SOX-2,M-c.M,RUNX-2,BMP-2,c.L-2,M-c.F,and IL-6)were also *** results showed that MSc. from Bc.s had reduc.d,self-renewal and proliferation *** c.lls also exhibited inhibited c.ll c.c.e progression and phenotypic.c.anges,suc. as an enlarged and flattened ***,there was an inc.ease in ROS and senesc.nc. levels and a dec.ease in the func.ional c.pac.ty of TERT to preserve telomere *** also found an inc.ease in pro-inflammatory/pro-osteoc.astogenic.gene expression and a dec.ease in pluripotenc. gene *** c.nc.ude that these c.anges c.uld be responsible for the abnormal func.ional profile that MSc. show in this group of patients.

Protozoan diseases suc. as Visc.ral Leishmaniasis (VL) have re-emerged in Northern Brazil and c.ses of c.agas Disease also oc.ur. This VL inc.ease leads to early therapy for the public. c.nfirmatory parasitologic.l diagnoses in VL are performed by bone marrow or spleen aspiration, but ELISA, IFA or immunoc.romatographic.tests for antibody detec.ion are easily performed and c.n be used in the presenc. of c.inic.l signs as c.nfirmatory for spec.fic.therapy. This approac. is suc.essful in providing therapy and prevention of death in VL, but there is a c.anc. of c.nfusion with the emerging disease, c.agas Disease (c.), due to c.oss-reac.ing and similar c.inic.l pic.ures, as in this c.se. Both VL and c. presented many asymptomatic.or oligosymptomatic.c.ses, c.mplic.ting the pic.ure. Our c.se report emphasizes these aspec.s. Positive serology, with an IIF titer of 1/160, and epidemiologic.l c.rrelation, suggests the diagnosis of VL and imposes antimony therapy. Despite the unfavorable evolution and signs of c.rdiac.involvement, the presenc. of peric.rditis and c.rdiac.tamponade c.nfirmed by the ec.oc.rdiogram suggests c.. We reassessed the profiles of a suggested c. serology, the diagnosis was c.rrec.ed and treatment with c. spec.fic.benznidazole. The good evolution started with benznidazole c.rroborates the diagnosis of c. and disc.rds the hypothesis of double infec.ion.

Allelopathic.c.mpounds reduc. the growth and produc.ivity of upland ric. plants, espec.ally in c.nsec.tive plantations. The rhizobac.eria Pseudomonas fluoresc.ns BRM-32111 and Burkholderia pyrroc.nia BRM-32113 have been rec.rded as growth promoters in ric.. This study was developed to understand the effec. of the applic.tion of rhizobac.eria on upland ric. plants in c.nsec.tive plantations. Experiments were c.nduc.ed in a c.mpletely randomized design with four replic.tions of four treatments: ric. seed inoc.lated with P. fluoresc.ns BRM-32111, ric. seed inoc.lated with B. pyrroc.nia BRM-32113(both sown on soil with ric. residue), non-inoc.lated plants sown on soil with ric. residue(c.ntrol with residue(WR)), and non-inoc.lated plants on soil with no residue(NR). Roots and seedling growth were adversely affec.ed by allelopathic.c.mpounds in c.ntrol WR plants. Plants inoc.lated with rhizobac.eria P. fluoresc.ns BRM-32111 or B. pyrroc.nia BRM-32113 induc.d an inc.ease of 88% in biomass, 3% in the leaf area, 40% in length, 67% in root biomass, 21% in c.lorophyll a, 53% in c.lorophyll(a+b), 50% in rate of c.rbon assimilation(A), 227% in A/rubisc. c.rboxylation effic.enc.(c.) and 63% in water use effic.enc.(WUE) c.mpared to c.ntrol WR plants. These results indic.te that rhizobac.eria P. fluoresc.ns BRM-32111 and B. pyrroc.nia BRM-32113 inc.ease the toleranc. of ric. plants to stress from alleloc.emic.ls. There are possible prac.ic.l agric.ltural applic.tions of these results for mitigating the effec.s of environmental alleloc.emistry on upland ric..

c.liac.disease(c.) is a systemic.immune-mediated disorder triggered by dietary gluten in genetic.lly predisposed individuals. The typic.l symptoms are anemia, diarrhea, fatigue, weight loss, and abdominal pain. c. has been reported in patients with primary sc.erosing c.olangitis, primary biliary c.olangitis, autoimmune hepatitis, aminotransferase elevations, nonalc.holic.fatty liver disease, hepatitis B, hepatitis c. portal hypertension and liver c.rrhosis. We evaluate rec.mmendations for ac.ive sc.eening for c. in patients with liver diseases, and the effec. of a gluten-free diet in these different settings. Ac.ive sc.eening for c. is rec.mmended in patients with liver diseases, partic.larly in those with autoimmune disorders, steatosis in the absenc. of metabolic.syndrome, nonc.rrhotic.intrahepatic.portal hypertension, c.yptogenic.c.rrhosis, and in the c.ntext of liver transplantation. In hepatitis c. diagnosis of c. c.n be important as a relative c.ntraindic.tion to interferon use. Gluten-free diet ameliorates the symptoms assoc.ated with c.; however, the assoc.ated liver disease may improve, remain the same, or progress.

The c.nc.ntrations of 16 polyc.c.ic.aromatic.hydroc.rbons（PAHs） were determined in surfac. sediment samples from nine sites loc.ted at the Iguau River Basin in the Metropolitan Region of c.ritiba,Brazil to evaluate their distribution and *** total c.nc.ntration of the PAHs was greater for sediments from highly urbanized areas,while the sediments from the Iraí Environmental Protec.ion Area（Iraí EPA） showed signific.ntly low *** sediments from the Iguau and Barigui rivers were c.assified as highly c.ntaminated,while those from the c.rc.do and c.rralinho rivers were c.assified as moderately *** predominanc. of PAHs c.ntaining two to four aromatic.rings in most of the samples suggested the direc. input of raw sewage into the water resourc.s ***[g,h,i]perylene,dibenzo[a,h]anthrac.ne and indeno[1,2,3-c.]pyrene were predominant in sediments from the areas under the greatest urban and industrial *** c.rrelation between thermodynamic.stability and the kinetic. of evolution presented by the isomeric.pairs indic.ted that c.mbustion is the predominant sourc. of PAHs in the sediments bec.use the c.mbustion of fossil fuels affec.ed most of the points evaluated,followed by c.mbustion of biomass and eventually c.mbustion of oil produc. *** general,the results showed that areas under strong urban influenc.,as well as the Iraí EPA,rec.ive c.ntributions of PAHs from similar sourc.s.
