The fabrication of electrocatalysts with high activity and acid stability for acidic oxygen evolution reaction(OER)is an urgent need,yet extremely ***,we report the design and successful fabrication of a high performance self-supported cogwheel arrays-like nanoporous Ir_(x)Ru_(1−x)O_(2) catalyst with abundant atomic steps for acidic OER using a facile alloy-spinningelectrochemical activation method that allows large-scale *** obtained Ir_(x)Ru_(1−x)O_(2) catalysts merely need overpotentials of 211 and 295 mV to deliver catalytic current densities of 10 and 300 mA·cm^(−2) in 0.5 m H_(2)SO_(4),respectively,and can sustain constant OER electrolysis for at least 140 h at a high current density of 300 mA·cm^(−2).Further density functional theory(DFT)calculations uncover that such high intrinsic activities mainly originate from the largely exposed high-index atomic step planes,which markedly lower the limiting potential of the rate-determining step(RDS)of *** findings provide an insight into the exploration of high performance electrocatalysts,and open up an avenue for further developing the state-of-theart Ir and/or Ru-based catalysts for large-scale practical applications.

Iris manipulation during phacoemulsification:intraoperative and postoperative complications

AIm:To quantify intraoperative and postoperative complications in complex phacoemulsification cataract extraction(phacoemulsification)with iris manipulation compared to non-complex and complex phacoemulsification without iris ***:All phacoemulsification cases at the University of Colorado between January 1,2014,and June 30,2017 were *** criteria for the primary outcome of intraoperative complications were planned combination surgery and eyes with less than 28 d *** criteria for the secondary outcomes of postoperative complications were unplanned additional surgery,and chronic steroid eye drop use prior to *** including sex,race/ethnicity,surgery length,visual acuity,intraoperative and postoperative complications,and intraocular pressures(IOP)were collected and analyzed utilizing general linear and Logistic regression ***:The medical records of 5772 eyes were reviewed(500 complex without iris manipulation,367 with iris manipulation).The number of any intraoperative complication in the complex with iris manipulation and complex without iris manipulation groups was 15(4.1%)and 26(5.2%),respectively,compared to 41(0.8%)in the non-complex *** inflammation was found in 135(2.8%)non-complex cases,20(4.1%)complex cases without iris manipulation,and 20(5.6%)complex cases with iris *** adjusted odds ratio of postoperative inflammation in phacoemulsification with iris manipulation compared to non-complex was 2.3(95%CI:1.3-4.0,P=0.005).The rate of IOP spikes>10 mm Hg was significantly greater in cases with iris manipulation(P=0.001).CONCLUSION:Complex cases have more intraoperative ***,only complex cases with iris manipulation led to increase rates of postoperative inflammation and IOP spikes>10 mm Hg.

Let (m, g) be a Riemannian manifold and G be a Kaluza-Klein metric on its tangent bundle Tm. A metric H on Tm is said to be symmetrically harmonic to G if the metrics G and H are harmonic w.r.t. each other;that is the identity maps id: (Tm,G) → (Tm,H) and id: (Tm,H) → (Tm,G) are both harmonic maps. In this work we study Kaluza-Klein metrics H on Tm which are symmetrically harmonic to G. In particular, we characterize and determine horizontally and vertically conformal Kaluza-Klein metrics H on Tm, which are symmetrically harmonic to G.

Concurrent infections of dengue viruses serotype 2 and 3 in patient with severe dengue from Jakarta, Indonesia

Objective: To describe the clinical manifestation of patient with severe dengue, to identify the serotypes and genotypes of dengue viruses(DENV) which concurrently infecting the patient, and to explore the possible relationship of severe dengue with the concurrent infection of DENV. methods: Dengue diagnosis was performed using NS1 antigen detection and Ig G/Ig m ELISA. Standard clinical and laboratory examinations were performed to obtain the clinical and hematological data. DENV concurrent infections were detected and confirmed using RT-PCR and DENV Envelope gene sequencing. Phylogenetic analyses were performed to determine the genotypes of the viruses. Results: The patient was classified as having severe dengue characterized by severe plasma leakage, hemorrhage, and organ damage involving lung, liver, and kidney. Concurrent infection of DENV serotype 2 and 3 was observed. The infecting DENV-2 virus was grouped into Cosmopolitan genotype while DENV-3 virus was classified into Genotype Ⅰ. Both viruses were closely related to isolates that were endemic in Jakarta. Viremia measurement was conducted and revealed a significantly higher virus titer of DENV-3 compared to DENV-2. Conclusions: The occurrence of multi-serotype DENV infections was presented in a patient with severe clinical manifestation in Indonesia. The hyperendemicity of dengue in Indonesia may contribute to the DENV concurrent infections cases and may underlie the severity of the disease.

Galvanic corrosion of AZ31B joined to dual-phase steel with and without Zn layer by ultrasonic and friction stir welding

Galvanic corrosion of AZ31B joined with bare or Zn-coated DP590 steel by ultrasonic spot welding or linear friction stir welding was quantitatively studied by pre-defining anode and cathode in the lap joint samples. Corrosion volume and depth from mg anode surfaces exposed to 0.1 m sodium chloride solution was analyzed as functions of cathode surface type and welding method. Characterization of as-welded joints was performed to identify any microstructural feature of the bonding zone that could impact galvanic corrosion *** modeling with modified user subroutine was conducted to simulate the progression of mg corrosion in the same joint and electrode configurations used for the corrosion experiments. The experimental results indicated that Zn-coated cathode surface can reduce mg galvanic corrosion significantly as galvanic polarization and cathodic current on Zn-coated surface remained relatively low for mg in the weld *** modeling described the growth of mg galvanic corrosion in a reasonable manner but showed limitation by underestimating the corrosion volume as it did not capture self-corrosion.

Background:Children with moderate-to-severe asthma continue to have disease complications despite the receipt of standardof-care *** monoclonal antibody dupilumab has been approved for the treatment of adults and adolescents with asthma as well as with other type 2 inflammatory ***:In this 52-week phase 3,randomized,double-blind,placebo-controlled trial,we assigned 408 children between the ages of 6 and 11 years who had uncontrolled moderate-to-severe asthma to receive a subcutaneous injection of dupilumab(at a dose of 100 mg for those weighing≤30 kg and 200 mg for those weighing>30 kg)or matched placebo every 2 *** the children continued to receive a stable dose of standard background *** primary end point was the annualized rate of severe asthma *** end points included the change from baseline in the percentage of predicted prebronchodilator forced expiratory volume in 1 second(ppFEV1)at week 12 and in the score on the Asthma Control Questionnaire 7 Interviewer-Administered(ACQ-7-IA)at week *** points were evaluated in the two primary efficacy populations who had either a type 2 inflammatory asthma phenotype(≥150 blood eosinophils per cubic millimeter or a fraction of exhaled nitric oxide of≥20 ppb at baseline)or a blood eosinophil count of at least 300 cells per cubic millimeter at baseline.

On the Hybrid model of Nerve Pulse: mathematical Analysis and Numerical Results

Amongst the important phenomena in neurophysiology, nerve pulse generation and propagation is fundamental. Scientists have studied this phenomena using mathematical models based on experimental observations on the physiological processes in the nerve cell. Widely used models include: the Hodgkin-Huxley (H-H) model, which is based entirely on the electrical activity of the nerve cell;and the Heimburg and Jackson (H-J), model based on the thermodynamic activity of the nerve cell. These classes of models do not, individually, give a complete picture of the processes that lead to nerve pulse generation and propagation. Recently, a hybrid model proposed by mengnjo, Dikandé and Ngwa (m-D-N), takes into consideration both the electrical and thermodynamic activities of the nerve cell. In their work, the first three bound states of the model are analytically computed and they showed great resemblance to some of the experimentally observed pulse profiles. With these bound states, the m-D-N model reduces to an initial value problem of a linear parabolic partial differential equation with variable coefficients. In this work we consider the resulting initial value problem and, using the theory of function spaces, propose and prove conditions under which such equations will admit unique solutions. We then verify that the resulting initial value problem from the m-D-N model satisfies these conditions and so has a unique solution. Given that the derived initial value problem is complex and there are no known analytic techniques that can be deployed to obtain its solution, we designed a numerical experiment to estimate the solutions. The simulations revealed that the unique solution is a stable pulse that propagates in the x-t plane with constant velocity and maintains the shape of the initial profile.

Subgroups of chronic fatigue syndrome based on psychiatric disorder onset and current psychiatric status

Few studies have examined the effects of psy-chiatric disorders occurring over a long dura-tion among patients with chronic fatigue syn-drome (CFS). The role of premorbid and current psychiatric disorders in impairment was ex-plored with a sample of 113 participants with CFS. Subgroups were created based on past and current psychiatric status including those whose psychiatric history was premorbid and current, postmorbid and current, past but not current, and those with no lifetime diagnosis. Results from a one-way mANOVA revealed that patients with a premorbid and current psychiat-ric disorder reported significantly higher pain severity, more somatic symptoms, poorer sleep quality, and poorer quality of life than those with no psychiatric history. Levels of fatigue and physical functioning among patients with CFS were unrelated to the four subgroups in this study. Although those with a premorbid and current psychiatric disorder were differentiated from those with no psychiatric history on some markers of impairment, the sample as a whole had severe fatigue-related impairment, which is the cardinal symptom of CFS. Implications for research are discussed.
