We present a bioreactor system which combines a semi permeable membrane that simulates the osmotic nutrients interchange in the small intestine circulation and rhythmic peristaltic *** custom-designed presents a semipermeable membrane bioreactor,with peristaltic flow and compression variation that allows adjustment of luminal flow *** addition,this system is also capable of achieving the drug distribution in the small intestine model from the apical compartment to the basal compartment by the semipermeable *** dynamic bioreactor can mimic the human small intestine with increased accuracy to overcome many of the limitations and accuracy with the previously described in vitro small intestinal models,providing a more representative model of the small intestine.

On acid soils,the trivalent aluminium ion(Al3+)predominates and is very rhizotoxic to most plant *** some native plant species adapted to acid soils including tea(Camellia sinensis),Al3+has been regarded as a beneficial mineral *** this study,we discovered that Al3+is actually essential for tea root growth and development in all the tested *** ion promoted new root growth in five representative tea varieties with dose-dependent responses to Al3+*** the absence of Al3+,the tea plants failed to generate new roots,and the root tips were damaged within 1 d of Al ***-tural analysis of root tips demonstrated that Al was required for root meristem development and *** situ morin@staining of Al3+in roots revealed that Al mainly localized to nuclei in root meristem cells,but then gradually moved to the cytosol when Al3+was subsequently *** movement of Al3+from nuclei to cytosols was accompanied by exacerbated dNA damage,which suggests that the nuclear-targeted Al primarily acts to maintain dNA *** together,these results provide novel evidence that Al3+is essential for root growth in tea plants through maintenance of dNA integrity in meristematic cells.

The fixed annual budget process can be a cumbersome and static process, often failing to deliver intended benefits. Typically detached from business operations and strategic planning goals, the annual budget suffers from inherent weaknesses caused by a lack of business intelligence regarding its underlying assumptions. This weakness is well documented in existing literature and there is ample evidence of improved alternatives to static corporate financial planning. One such alternative utilizes business intelligence as an essential component in the annual budget process, along with rolling forecasts as a critical tool. Utilizing business intelligence supported, driver-based rolling forecasting can align an organization’s budget process with strategic objectives and can further the operational and financial strength of an organization, as well as maximize shareholder value. In order to fully explore this topic, this article will present a review of the conventional annual budget process and the manner in which an approach that bases financial forecasts on business intelligence drivers can align operations with strategic objectives and add value to an organization. An assessment of intelligence-supported, driver-based rolling forecasting will also be presented, demonstrating an im- proved approach to the traditional annual budgeting process.

Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis(CVST)is a type of stroke associated with COVId-19 vaccine-induced immune thrombotic *** precise etiology of CVST often remains elusive due to the highly heterogeneous nature of its governing mechanisms,specifically,Virchow’s triad that involves altered blood flow,endothelial dysfunction,and hypercoagulability,which varies substantially amongst *** diagnostic and monitoring approaches lack the capability to reflect the combination of these patient-specific thrombotic *** response to this challenge,we introduce a Vein-Chip platform that recapitulates the CVST vascular anatomy from magnetic resonance venography and the associated hemodynamic flow profile using the“Chinese Movable Type-like”soft stereolithography *** resultant full-lumen personalized Vein-Chips,functionalized with endothelial cells,enable in-vitro thrombosis assays that can elucidate distinct thrombogenic scenarios between normal vascular conditions and those of endothelial *** former displayed minimal platelet aggregation and negligible fibrin deposition,while the latter presented significant fibrin extrusion from platelet *** low-cost movable typing technique further enhances the potential for commercialization and broader utilization of personalized Vein-Chips in surgical labs and at-home *** research and development in this direction will pave the way for improved management and prevention of CVST,ultimately benefiting both patients and healthcare systems.

· AIM: To evaluate and compare aspheric toric intraocular lens(IOL) implantation and aspheric monofocal IOL implantation with limbal relaxing incisions(LRI) to manage low corneal astigmatism(1.0-2.0 d) in cataract surgery.· METHOdS: A prospective randomized comparative clinical study was performed. There were randomly recruited 102 eyes(102 patients) with cataracts associated with corneal astigmatism and divided into two groups. The first group received toric IOL implantation and the second one monofocal IOL implantation with peripheral corneal relaxing incisions. Outcomes considered were: visual acuity, postoperative residual astigmatism, endothelial cell count, the need for spectacles, and patient satisfaction. To determine the postoperative toric axis, all patients who underwent the toric IOL implantation were further evaluated using an OPd Scan III(Nidek Co, Japan). Follow-up lasted 6mo.· RESULTS: The mean uncorrected distance visual acuity(UCVA) and the best corrected visual acuity(bCVA) demonstrated statistically significant improvement after surgery in both groups. At the end of the follow-up the UCVA was statistically better in the patients with toric IOL implants compared to those patients who underwent implantation of monofocal IOL plus LRI. The mean residual refractive astigmatism was of 0.4 d for the toric IOL group and 1.1 d for the LRI group(P difference was observed in the postoperative endothelial cell count between the two groups.· CONCLUSION: The two surgical procedures demonstrated a significant decrease in refractive astigmatism. Toric IOL implantation was more effective and predictable compared to the limbal relaxing incision.

Previous results indicated that in grapevine （Vitis vinifera）, regulation of the flavonoid pathway genes by MYb transcription factors depends on their interaction with basic helix-loop-helix proteins （bHLHs）. The present study describes the first functional characterization of a bHLH factor from grapevine named VvMYC1. This transcription factor is phylogenetically related to Arabidopsis bHLH proteins, which participate in the control of flavonoid biosynthesis and epidermal cell fate. Transient promoter and yeast two-hybrid assays demonstrated that VvMYC1 physically interacts with MYb5a, MYb5b, MYbA1/A2, and MYbPA1 to induce promoters of flavonoid pathway genes involved in anthocyanin and/ or proanthocyanidin （PA） synthesis. Additionally, transient promoter assays revealed that VvMYC1 is involved in feedback regulation of its own expression. Transcript levels of VvMYC1 during berry development correlate with the synthesis of anthocyanins and PAs in skins and seeds of berries, suggesting that VvMYC1 is involved in the regulation of anthocyanins and PA synthesis in these organs. Likewise, transient expression of VvMYC1 and VvMYbA1 induces anthocyanin synthesis in grapevine suspension cells. These results suggest that VvMYCl is part of the transcriptional cascade controlling antho- cyanin and PA biosynthesis in grapevine.

Estimating Soil Hydraulic Parameters Characterizing Rainwater Infiltration and Runoff Properties of dryland Floodplains

The two-layered (0 - 50 and 50 - 250 mm) surface horizon hydraulic parameters of three dryland floodplain soil-types under aquafer water management in Postmasburg, Northern Cape Province of South Africa were estimated with HYdRUS-1d model. Time dependent water infiltration measurements at 30 and 230 mm depths from simulated rainfalls on undisturbed 1 m2 small plots with intensities of 1.61 (high), 0.52 (medium) and 0.27 (low) mm·min-1, were minimised using a two-step inversion. Firstly, separate optimisation of the van Genuchten-Mualem model parameters for the two surface-horizon layers and secondly, simultaneous optimisation for the joint two-layered horizon with first step optimal parameters entered as initial values. The model reproduced transient water-infiltration data very well with the Nash-Sutcliffe model efficiency coefficient (NSE) of 0.99 and overestimated runoff (NSE;0.27 to 0.98). The upper surface horizon had highly optimised and variable parameters especially θs and Ks. Optimal Ks values from higher soil surface bulk-density (≥1.69 g·cm-3) were lower by at least one order of magnitude to double ring infiltrometers and water infiltration properties were different (P due to raindrop impact and surface crusting. Optimal α and n parameter values corresponded well with texture of the Addo (Greysols), Augrabies (Ferralsols) and brandvlei (Cambisols) soil types. However, θs and Ksshowed greater sensitivity to model output and exerted greater influence on dryland floodplain water-infiltration and runoff characteristics. Increasing rainfall simulation period to attain near-surface saturated conditions and inclusion of surface ponding data in the inverse problem could considerable improve model prediction of hydro-physical parameters controlling surface-subsurface water distribution in fluvial environments.

为提升再制造技术创新水平以增强其社会认可度,运用博弈论研究了原制造商专利保护对再制造商技术创新策略的影响。在推导包含产品技术创新水平的消费者需求函数的基础上分别构建并求解了无技术创新(NTI)、无专利保护技术创新(TI)、专利保护技术创新(PTI)下的供应链模型,通过理论分析和数值仿真对供应链绩效及成员模式偏好进行了详细分析。研究表明,技术创新水平分别与再制造节约成本和消费者对再制品的估值程度正相关,专利保护下的技术创新水平低于无专利保护;经销商开展技术创新时原制造商收取的单位专利许可费显著提高,并与技术创新效率负相关;再制造商、绿色消费者以及社会福利的模式偏好为TINTIPTI,原制造商的模式偏好为PTINTITI,而供应链系统以及普通消费者的模式偏好则取决于消费者对再制品的估值。

Seasonal Rainfall Forecasts for the Yangtze River basin of China in Summer 2019 from an Improved Climate Service

Rainfall forecasts for the summer monsoon season in the Yangtze River basin(YRb) allow decision-makers to plan for possible flooding, which can affect the lives and livelihoods of millions of people. A trial climate service was developed in 2016, producing a prototype seasonal forecast product for use by stakeholders in the region, based on rainfall forecasts directly from a dynamical model. Here, we describe an improved service based on a simple statistical downscaling approach. Through using dynamical forecast of an East Asian summer monsoon(EASM) index, seasonal mean rainfall for the upper and middle/lower reaches of YRb can be forecast separately by use of the statistical downscaling, with significant skills for lead times of up to at least three months. The skill in different sub-basin regions of YRb varies with the target season. The rainfall forecast skill in the middle/lower reaches of YRb is significant in May–June–July(MJJ), and the forecast skill for rainfall in the upper reaches of YRb is significant in June–July–August(JJA). The mean rainfall for the basin as a whole can be skillfully forecast in both MJJ and JJA. The forecasts issued in 2019 gave good guidance for the enhanced rainfall in the MJJ period and the near-average conditions in JJA. Initial feedback from users in the basin suggests that the improved forecasts better meet their needs and will enable more robust decision-making.
