Due to the current water scarcity in the world,it is extremely important to improve the use of this natural and exhaustible resource in agriculture,by contributing to increase agricultural production and *** models of crop growth simulation were developed to predict the edaphoclimatic effects on crop *** models are calibrated and validated for a given region using the data generated from field ***,the objective of this study was to calibrate and validate the FAO AquaCrop model for yacon(Smallanthus sonchifolius)crop in a tropical *** experiment was conducted in an experimental area located in the municipality of Ibatiba,state of espírito Santo(Brazil)during the years of 2013 and *** calibration was done using the Autumn planting and validation with the Winter and Spring *** the statistical analysis,the coefficient of determination,Willmott concordance index,bias for the systematic error,root mean square error and the mean absolute error to test the model performance were *** general,the FAO AquaCrop model predicted the root yield,total biomass and harvest index with acceptable accuracy,and with deviations of less than 6%for total and root *** planting of yacon showed a reduction in yield as well as total biomass.

In this contribution we present new insights on the evolution of the Dom Feliciano Belt,southernmost Mantiqueira Province,integrating new whole-rock Sm-Nd isotopic data for the Arroio Grande Ophiolite(Punta del este Terrane,Brazil/Uruguay border)with previously published bulk-rock and isotope geochemistry of the South Adamastor paleo-ocean metamafic rocks located in Uruguay(Paso del Dragon Complex,Punta del este Terrane)and Namibia(Chameis Subterrane,Marmora Terrane,Gariep Belt).For the regional geology,the new data corroborate previous hypothesis and demonstrate the depleted mantle features of the amphibolites and metagabbros of the studied *** Arroio Grande Ophiolite rocks are compared with its Uruguayan and Namibian counterparts,demonstrating their isotopic and geochemical similarities and differences,and the backarc affinity of the South Adamastor *** MORB-affinity amphibolites from the Arroio Grande Ophiolite-Paso del Dragon Complex are,so far,the most juvenile rocks in the eastern sector of the Dom Feliciano Belt,yielding εNd(640)Ma)between+7.3 and+9,and high 147Sm/144Nd(>0.169)and 143Nd/144Nd(640 Ma)ratios(0.51219-0.51229).The South Adamastor is interpreted in this paper as an internal back-arc ocean,with limited lateral extension,opened at around 750-650 Ma as the result of the closure of the older Charrua-Goianide paleoocean during the Brasiliano/Pan-African orogenic cycle and final configuration of the West Gondwana paleocontinent.

Highly weathered soils in areas from Brazil are acidic soils, typically characterized by poor fertility, particularly with low soil phosphorus level. This laboratory experiment was carried out to evaluate the influences of biochar, made from the poultry litter and MB-4, rock dust from grinding of silicate rocks in increasing the available soil phosphorus on Ultisol, Oxisol and entisol. Thus, one experiment involving soils incubation was conducted in laboratory, during 100 days. The treatments consisted of rock powder, MB-4 and poultry litter, biochar, evaluated by the base saturation method, with correction levels from 40% to 80% for Ultisol and entisol and from 20% to 80% for Oxisol and three replicates. After the incubation period, the soil samples were analyzed in relation to available phosphorus in the soil. The results of this study confirmed that the biochar prepared from the poultry litter through slow pyrolysis was a potential source of phosphorus, particularly to weathered soils. Biochar released phosphorus into the soils. The biochar could be used in the improvement of available phosphorus for the three soils analyzed. During the incubation period, 100 days, the application of increasing doses of MB-4 in soils there was no improvement in the available soil phosphorus. MB-4 was not a source of phosphorus to the soil in a short term.

Influence of the Tropical Atlantic Ocean’s Sea Surface Temperature in the eastern Northeast Brazil Precipitation

An analysis of the rainfall of the eastern Northeast Brazil (eNeB) during the period from April to June and the processes of ocean-atmosphere interaction were performed during different episodes of Sea Surface Temperature (SST) inter-hemispheric gradient of Atlantic tropical (GRAD). For this, we used a dataset covering the 1981 to 2010 period, composed by: monthly data of accumulated precipitation of the Global Precipitation Climatology Project (GPCP);surface fluxes obtained from reanalysis of the National Center for environmental Prediction (NCeP);vertically integrated moisture flux divergence of the global model of european Centre for Medium Range Forecasting (eCMWF) reanalysis;SST data from the NCeP. Seven GRAD_S (southward SST gradient in the intertropical Atlantic) and five GRAD_N (northward SST gradient in the intertropical Atlantic) were selected. When the South Atlantic Ocean is warmer, the oceanic and atmospheric conditions are favorable to higher monthly precipitation near to the eNeB. We also observed a pronounced moisture convergence over parts of the eNeB during both, GRAD_S and GRAD_N episodes. The weather phenomena that operates remotely amplifying or inhibiting the rain also helps the rainy season;however, it appears that the contribution was greater than the spatial distribution of rainfall intensity.

AIM TO correlate Helicobacter pylori （H. pylorli）, epsteinBarr virus （eBV） and human papillomavirus （HPV） with gastric cancer （GC） cases in Para State, *** Tissue samples were obtained from 302 gastric adenocarcinomas. A rapid urease test was used to detect the presence of H. pylori, and the presence of the cagA gene in the HP-positive samples was confirmed by PCR. An RNA in situ hybridization test designed to complement eberl RNA was used to detect the presence of eBV in the samples, and the L1 region of HPV was detected using nested PCR. Positive HPV samples were genotyped and analyzed for e6 and e7 viral gene expression. Infections were also correlated with the clinical and pathological characteristics of the *** The majority of the 302 samples analyzed were obtained from men （65%） aged 55 years or older （67%） and were classified as the intestinal subtype （55%）. All three pathogens were found in the samples analyzed in the present study （H. pylori： 87%, eBV： 20%, HPV： 3%）. Overall, 78% of the H. pylori-positive （H. pylorl＋） samples were cagA＋（H. pylori-cagA＋）, and there was an association between the cytotoxic product of this gene and eBV. Coinfections of H. pylori-cagA＋ and eBV were correlated with the most advanced tumor stages. Although only 20% of the tumors were positive for eBV, infection with this virus was associated with distant metastasis. Only the HPV 16 and 18 strains were found in the samples, although no expression of the e6 and e7 oncoproteins was detected. The fundus of the stomach was the region least affected by the *** HPV was not involved in gastric tumorigenesis. Prophy- lactic and therapeutic measures against H. pylori and eBV may prevent the development of GC, especially the more aggressive forms.

Background Forest ecosystems undergo significant transformations due to harvesting and climate fluctuations, emphasizing the critical role of seeding in natural regeneration and long-term structural preservation. Climate change further amplifies these dynamics, affecting phenology across species and regions. In Tierra del Fuego(Argentina), Nothofagus pumilio(lenga) forests represent the most important timber resource, and it is managed through different silvicultural strategies. This species demonstrates notable post-disturbance regeneration, yet seed fall exhibits signifi-cant variability, leading to variations in seed quality(e.g., viability). This study aims to assess fluctuations in N. pumilio seed quality, determine how it varies concerning forest management strategies, annual productivity, and the co-occurrence of climatic phenomena including el Ni?o-Southern Oscillation(eNSO) and the Southern Annular Mode(SAM).Results Viable seeds represented 18.4% of the total, notably higher in unharvested than in managed areas. Con-versely, empty seeds were more prevalent in harvested areas(> 75%). Seed quality exhibited significant differences across silvicultural treatments, except for insect-predated seeds, which had similar proportions across all areas, though dispersed retention showed higher predation. When considering years with varying production levels, high-production years favoured full and viable seeds, particularly in unharvested forests and aggregated retention, while low-production years saw reduced viability across all treatments. Quadratic models revealed that viability increased with seed production, where unharvested forests achieved the highest values. Climate variability influenced seed proportions, where eNSO+/SAM+ promoting more full and viable seeds, while eNSO–/SAM+ favoured non-predated seeds, especially in unharvested *** Seed quality varies among treatments and years with different levels of seeding. Bentonite effects on Zinc Concentration in Plants Irrigated with Wastewater

A greenhouse study was conducted to investigate the effect of bentonite on zinc concentrations in radish and corn irrigated with wastewater. The experimental units were plastic pots with a capacity of 5 kg and 14 kg for radish and corn, respectively. The soil was mixed with increasing doses of bentonite equivalent to 0,?30,?60 and 90 t·ha-1. The plants were irrigated with poor quality water with a concentration of 5 mg·L-1?Zn. On the occasion of the harvest of radish and corn, that is, at 30 and 60 days after the emergence, respectively, the plants were separated in aerial part and roots, dried in a forced circulation oven, weighed and ground for analysis of zinc in the plant tissues. After these analyzes, the translocation factor (TF), the translocation index (TI), the bioaccumulation in the plant (BFP) and in the root (BFR) were calculated. According to the conditions of this research, the incorporation of bentonite to the soil irrigated with water of inferior quality favored the development of radish and corn;allowed the retention of the Zn metal in the soil, reducing the concentrations of this metal in the root of the radish and in the aerial part of the corn;decreased the transfer of zinc from the soil to the plants under study.

This paper presents study of the effects of urban morphology changes on ventilation dynamics through a comparative study between blocks of Copacabana and Ipanema neighborhoods, located in Rio de Janciro City, Brazil. The study was developed with the aid of experimental simulations in a wind tunnel, taking into account the urban morphology and its relations to open spaces. A diagnosis was produced through the exam of the wind effects in relation to the volume of built and non-built spaces. The effects were classified as positive or negative, in relation to the tropical climate. At first, both blocks studied, one in Ipanema and one in Copacabana, were selected according to common characteristics, which establish a relation between the two regions, such as the distance to the beach and the presence of a public square. The results confirmed our expectations showing Ipanema as a more ventilated area.
