The paper contains a brief overview of the professional activities of Professor Gottfried Konecny,Professor Emeritus at the Institute of Photogrammetry and GeoInformation,Leibniz University Hannover,Germany,and his influence on photogrammetry,remote sensing and geospatial information science during his time at the University of New Brunswick,Canada,and at the Leibniz *** work can be divided into educational,scientific,application,organizational,and work in international *** activities comprised of giving courses in various languages,consultancy activities,and various other cooperations which took place in many south American countries,in Africa and Asia,for organizations such as the World Bank,United Nations,German space Agency DLR,to name only a *** in connection with international societies mainly took place during ***’s engagement in the Council of the International society for Photogrammetry(IsP),renamed the International society for Photogrammetry and Remote sensing(IsPRs),and the European Association of Remote sensing Laboratories(EARseL)*** was a key figure in bringing many countries and organizations to IsPRs as Ordinary and sustaining *** Konecny has always been aware of the importance of international cooperation at various levels,also with sister societies such as the International Cartographic Association and the United Nations-Global Geospatial Information Management(UN-GGIM).His application activities span from the photogrammetry-oriented projects he was awarded in Canada,to remote sensing topics and geospatial sciences,combined with cartography during his Hannover *** vision and endless effort are exemplary for a person who has always been devoted to the three geosciences mentioned *** Konecny is the author of a number of books,journal papers and papers presented at international and national *** has been a recognized keynote speaker at many conferences t

Peptide-based nanostructures have received much attention in the field of drug targeting. In fact, peptides have many advantages such as simplicity of the structure, biocompatibility, and chemical diversity. Moreover, some peptides, which are called cell-penetrating peptides, can cross cellular membranes and carry small molecules, small interfering RNA, or viruses inside live cells. These molecules are often covalently or noncovalently linked to cargoes, thus forming amphiphilic conjugates that can self-assemble. supramolecular nanostructures formed from peptides are used in nanomedicine as a carrier to protect a drug and to target cancer cells. This review explores aliphatic-chain-conjugated peptides and drug-conjugated peptides that can self-assemble. special emphasis is placed on the synthesis procedure, nanostructure formation, and biological activity.

Joint effects of acetochlor and urea on germinating characteristics of crop seeds

In order to evaluate ecological risk of agrochemicals in common use, joint toxic effects of acetochlor and urea on germinating characteristics of Chinese cabbage (Brassica Pe-kinensis Rupr) seeds were investigated using the water-culture method and the soil-culture method. The results indicated(that excessive application of acetochlor and urea, when the concentrations were higher than 31.3 mg · kg-1 for acetochlor and 500 mg · kg-1 for urea, had strong inhibitory effects on the rate of seed germination, root elongation and hypocotyl length of Chinese cabbage. The inhibitory rate of the germinating characteristics of Chinese cabbage seeds was significantly increased with an increase in the concentration of acetochlor or urea. The two agrochemicals in water had a stronger toxicity than these in the soil at the same concentration. Among the three indexes, hypocotyl length was the most sensitive to the toxicity of acetochlor and urea.

Effect of processing and accelerated storage on the volatile composition and sensory profile of a tomato soup

The volatile and sensory profile of pasteurized(95℃,18 min)and sterilized(120℃,14 min)tomato soup and its changes at accelerated storage conditions(37℃and 42℃)were identified,characterized,and correlated by predictive *** led to more profound changes over storage compared to pasteurisation,showing enhanced levels of‘dark'odour,‘burnt'flavour,and‘complexity',while pasteurized soup had more pronounced‘green'odour,‘vegetables'flavour,‘harmony',and‘freshness'.Over time,‘dark'and‘burnt'significantly increased for sterilized soups,whereas‘green'decreased significantly only for sterilized soup stored at 42℃.The changes of‘dark',‘green',‘off-flavour,‘burnt',‘har mony',and‘freshness'were associated with formation of furans(furfural and 2-acetyl-5-methylfuran),and decline of unsaturated aldehydes like E-2-octenal and E,E-2,*** compounds were identified to represent potential shelf-life markers,yet more studies on their odour activity in the tomato soup matrix are necessary to understand their contribution to the sensory *** construction of partial least squares models allowed the prediction of‘green',‘off-flavour',‘burnt',and‘freshness'based on selected *** models will be important tools in the process of predicting the end of shelf life,but need to be supplemented with consumer acceptability levels.

Two-dimensional(2D)materials with atomic thickness,non-volatile resistive switching feature and compatibility with the semiconducting technology are naturally a good media of memristors.2D materials-based memristors with excellent performance,low-power consumption and high integration density can be integrated with other circuit components to implement the complicate logic computing,which will become a key driving force for the development of artificial intelligence.

Tastes of Revolution, Change and Love： Codes of Consumption in Fiction from New China

This paper analyses socialist Realist novels from the early years of the People＇s Republic of China （PRC）, focusing on scenes of food and drink consumption. While these scenes may appear marginal at first glance, the analysis demonstrates how food and its consumption function as codes to normative values. I am therefore proposing a reading of these texts based on the model of intertextuality （Julia Kristeva） and on an anthropological model on （food） consumption （Mary Douglas）, advocating that acts of consumption reveal social hierarchies and the position of the individual therein. These fictional scenes of everyday activities construct fictional characters as heroes or villains. Given the normative value of this officially endorsed literature, these scenes at the same time prescribe （and, likewise, proscribe） certain behavior to their readers. On another level, however, these codes also convey information that could not be openly spelled out at the time, as when the sharing of food is the only way in which two fictional characters can express their love. simple food can thus be the source of entertainment, enjoyment, suspense, and even nostalgia for contemporary readers, which, in turn, may be one of the reasons for the lasting popularity of the codes described and of a number of the texts presented in the analysis.

Health care in light of different theories of health——A proposed framework for integrating a social humanistic perspective into health care

The objective of this paper is to provide an overview of the biomedical,the biopsychosocial, and the social humanistic theories of health and to propose a framework for integrating the latter into health care. In summary, the definitions of health, illness and disease are essential to the practice of health care and play fundamental roles in how patients’ experiences of being ill are valued and assessed within health care systems. Principally, the biomedical perspective proceeds from pathoanatomical deficiencies defining disease and malfunction;the addition of psychosocial components forms a biopsychosocial *** addition, the social humanistic perspective extends from a person’s will, their ability to act, and the possibility to fulfill wanted actions. Thus, health care that does not address the social humanistic perspective may lack the power to describe how these entities are related to the patient on a personal level;thus,the will of the patient is not always fully addressed. Importantly, by targeting the will of the patient and the patient’s ability to act, the proposed framework of integrating a social humanistic perspective into health care may further emphasize and strengthen the interrelatedness of medical perspectives. A framework for integrating a social humanistic perspective into health care is proposed and its potential impact on health care is discussed.

Toxic effects of crude-oil-contaminated soil in aquatic environment on Carassius auratus and their hepatic antioxidant defense system

Under the indoor simulant conditions, toxic effects of crude-oil-contaminated soil which was put into aquatic environment on the young fishes Carassius auratus and their hepatic antioxidant system after a 20-d exposure were investigated. Results showed that the relationship between the mortality of C. auratus and the exposed doses could be divided into 3 phases： fishes exposed to the low dose groups （0.5-5.0 g/L） were dead due to the ingestion of crude-oil-contaminated soils in aquatic environment; at the medium dose groups （5.0-25.0 g/L） fishes were dead due to the penetration of toxic substances; at the high dose groups （25.0-50.0 g/L） fishes were dead due to environmental stress. The highest mortality and death speed were found in the 1.0 g/L dose group, and the death speed was sharply increased in the 50.0 g/L dose group in the late phase of exposure. The activities of superoxide dismutase （sOD）, catalase （CAT） and glutathione s-transferase （GsT） and the content of malaondialdehyde （MDA） in the hepatic tissues of C. auratus were induced significantly. The activity of sOD was increased and then decreased. It was significantly inhibited in the 50.0 g/L dose group. The activity of CAT was highly induced, and restored to a level which is little more than the control when the exposed doses exceeded 10.0 g/L. The activity of GsT was the most sensitive, it was significantly induced in all dose groups, and the highest elevation was up to 6 times in the 0.5 g/L dose group comparing with the control. The MDA content was significantly elevated in the 50.0 g/L dose group, and the changes of the MDA content were opposite with the changes of GsT activity.
