Background： Rhythmical massage therapy（RMT） is a massage technique used in anthroposophic ***： The authors aimed to investigate the physiological action of RMT on the cardiovascular system by analysing heart rate variability（HRV）.Design, setting, participants and intervention： This study was a randomised, controlled and single-blinded trial, involving 44 healthy women（mean age：（26.20 ± 4.71） years）. The subj.cts were randomised to one of three arms： RMT with aromatic oil（RA）, RMT without aromatic oil（RM） or standardised sham massage（SM）. In the study the subj.cts were exposed to a standardised stress situation followed by one of the study techniques and Holter electrocardiograms（ECGs） were recorded for 24 *** outcome measures： HRV parameters were calculated from linear（time and frequency domain） and nonlinear dynamics（symbolic dynamics, Poincare plot analysis） of the 24-h Holter ECG ***： Short-and long-term effects of massage on autonomic regulation differed significantly among the three groups. Immediately after an RMT session, stimulation of HRV was found in the groups RA and RM. The use of an aromatic oil produced greater short-term measurable changes in HRV compared with rhythmic massage alone, but after 24 h the effect was no longer distinguishable from the RM *** lowest stimulation of HRV parameters was measured in the SM ***： RMT causes specific and marked stimulation of the autonomic nervous system. Use of a medicinal aromatic oil had only a temporary effect on HRV, indicating that the RM causes the most relevant long-term effect. The effect is relatively specific, as the physiological effects seen in the group of subj.cts who received only SM were considerably less pronounced.

Despite their ubiquitous use for rendering patients unconscious for surgery, our understanding of how general anesthetics cause hypnosis remains rudimentary at best. Recent years have seen increased interest in ＂top-down＂ cortico-centric theories of anesthetic action. The aim of this study was to explore this by investigating direct cortical effects of anesthetics on cerebrocortical evoked potentials in isolated mouse brain slices. Evoked potentials were elicited in cortical layer IV by electrical stimulation of the underlying white matter. The effects of three anesthetics （ketamine, etomidate, and isoflurane） on the amplitude, latency, and slope of short-latency evoked potentials were quantified. The N2/P3/N4 potentials - which represent the early cortical response - were enhanced by etomidate （increased P3-N4 slope, P 〈0.01）, maintained by ketamine, and reduced by isoflurane （lower N2/P3 amplitude, P 〈0.01）. These effects closely resemble those seen in vivo for the same drugs and point to a cortical mechanism independent of effects on subcortical structures such as the thalamus.

In order to analyze the signaling function of hydrogen peroxide （H202） production in senescence in more detail, we manipulated intracellular H202 levels in Arabidopsis thaliala （L.） Heynh by using the hydrogen- peroxide-sensitive part of the Escherichia coil transcription regulator OxyR, which was directed to the cytoplasm as well as into the peroxisomes. H202 levels were lowered and senescence was delayed in both transgenic lines, but OxyR was found to be more effective in the cytoplasm. To transfer this knowledge to crop plants, we analyzed oilseed rape plants Brassica napus L. cv. Mozart for H20~ and its scavenging enzymes catalase （CAT） and ascorbate peroxidase （APX） during leaf and plant development. H202 levels were found to increase during bolting and flowering time, but no increase could be observed in the very late stages of senescence. With increasing H202 levels, CAT and APX activities declined, so it is likely that similar mechanisms are used in oilseed rape and Arabidopsis to control H202 levels. Under elevated CO2 conditions, oilseed rape senescence was accelerated and coincided with an earlier increase in H202 levels, indicating that H202 may be one of the signals to inducing senescence in a broader range of Brassicaceae.

For a long time, many scientists were keen on discovering ＂the master regulator＂ of plant senescence. However, in the last two decades, it became very clear that this ＂master regulator＂ does not exist, but an extremely complex regulatory network controls all aspects and phases of senescence. The increasing production and use of engineered silver nanoparticles（AgNP） in industry and private households are leading to increased concentrations of AgNP in the environment. An ecological risk assessment of AgNP is needed, but it requires understanding the long term effects of environmentally relevant concentrations of AgNP on the soil microbiome. Hence, the aim of this study was to reveal the long-term effects of AgNP on soil microorganisms. The study was conducted as a laboratory incubation experiment over a period of one year using a loamy soil and AgNP concentrations ranging from 0.01 to 1 mg AgNP/kg soil. The short term effects of AgNP were, in general, ***, after one year of exposure to 0.01 mg AgNP/kg, there were significant negative effects on soil microbial biomass（quantified by extractable DNA; p = 0.000） and bacterial ammonia oxidizers（quantified by amo A gene copy numbers; p = 0.009）. Furthermore, the tested AgNP concentrations significantly decreased the soil microbial biomass, the leucine aminopeptidase activity（quantified by substrate turnover; p = 0.014）, and the abundance of nitrogen fixing microorganisms（quantified by nif H gene copy numbers; p = 0.001）. The results of the positive control with Ag NO3 revealed predominantly stronger effects due to Ag＋ion release. Thus, the increasing toxicity of AgNP during the test period may reflect the long-term release of Ag^＋ions. Nevertheless, even very low concentrations of AgNP caused disadvantages for the microbial soil community, especially for nitrogen cycling, and our results confirmed the risks of releasing AgNP into the environment.

Present long range interactions for signals, as well as large scale rare phenomena at Earthquakes are subj.cts of wave dynamics with large impact. Here, that will be addressed in a general (science fiction) format. The method used is based on energy balance for a continuum and kinematics of noncircular orbits, nco. Released vortex formation in a process invoking escape velocity for beamed up Dinosaurs, is modeled with fluid dynamics of a Helix. It is found that elasticity in terms of volumetric changes and vorticities interact giving large velocities and interchange of potential and kinetic energies. The model is an example of atmosphere integrative physiology.
