A pH/ROS dual-responsive system for effective chemoimmunotherapy against melanoma via remodeling tumor immune microenvironment

Chemotherapeutics can induce immunogenic cell death(ICD)in tumor cells,offering new possibilities for cancer ***,the efficiency of the immune response generated is insufficient due to the inhibitory nature of the tumor microenvironment(TME).Here,we developed a pH/reactive oxygen species(ROS)dual-response system to enhance chemoimmunotherapy for *** system productively accumulated in tumors by specific binding of phenylboronic acid(PBA)to sialic acids(SA).The nanoparticles(NPs)rapidly swelled and released quercetin(QUE)and doxorubicin(DOX)upon the stimulation of tumor microenvironment(TME).The in vitro and in vivo results consistently demonstrated that the NPs improved anti-tumor efficacy and prolonged survival of mice,significantly enhancing the effects of the *** study revealed DOX was an ICD inducer,stimulating immune responses and promoting maturation of dendritic cells(DCs).Additionally,QUE served as a TME regulator by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase-2(COX2)-prostaglandin E2(PGE2)axis,which influenced various immune cells,including increasing cytotoxic T cells(CLTs)infiltration,promoting M1 macrophage polarization,and reducing regulatory T cells(Tregs)*** combination synergistically facilitated chemoimmunotherapy efficacy by remodeling the immunosuppressive *** work presents a promising strategy to increase anti-tumor efficiency of chemotherapeutic agents.

Construction of multi-structures based on Cu NWs-supported MOF-derived Co oxides for asymmetric pseudocapacitors

Cu@MOF core-shell nanowires are synthesized by introducing oxidizable and CTAB-modified metal nanowires as self-engaged templates and supporting MOFs for a one-dimension *** following thermal process is controlled to obtain several one-dimension structure s ofCuCo-mixed materials,such as nanorods,single-shell and double-shell *** hollow structure for electrode materials enlarges the surface area,provides buffer space for electrolyte to accelerate the ion/charge transfers and for the structure to reduce injuries of volume expansion during *** with some other merits,such as adequate oxidation of the MOFs,small crystal grains of the material,and well-mixed Cu/Co oxides,the double-shell Cu@MOF nanowires(CuCo-DS5)applied for pseudocapacitors deliver advanced electrochemical performance with a specific capacitance of 563.8 F g^(-1)at 1 A g^(-1)as well as an outstanding cycling stability with a 92%retention after 3000 cycles at 5 A g^(-1).Meanwhile,an asymmetric pseudocapacitor constructed with the CuCo-DS5 and active carbon(AC)shows a high specific capacitance and energy density.

Wide Stopband Substrate Integrated Waveguide Filter Using Bisection and Trisection Coupling in Multilayer

This article presents a highly efficient method for substrate-integrated-waveguide（SIW） filters to achieve very wide stopbands. By employing the proposed trisection slots in addition to the bisection slots as the inter-coupling structures, all spurious modes below TE505 of a SIW filter working in the fundamental mode TE101（f0）can be eliminated without requiring additional structure or complex theoretical analysis, without affecting the design of the fundamental passbands, and without degrading the performance of the filters. For verification, two prototype filters are designed, fabricated, and measured with wide stopbands up to 4.15f0 and 4.83f0, respectively. The proposed technique could facilitate the development of high-performance wide-stopband SIW filters for microwave/wireless circuits and systems.

Fermented calcium butyrate supplementation in post-peak laying hens improved ovarian function and tibia quality through the“gut-bone” axis

The compromised egg quality and leg abnormality during the end of the laying cycle(after 40 weeks)have been leading to poor animal welfare and substantial economic losses. Therefore, the effects of fermented calcium(Ca) butyrate, produced by fermentation by Clostridium butyricum, on production,eggshell quality, and tibial property of hens were explored. A total of 192 Hy-line brown laying hens at50-week-old were assigned to a basal diet or the basal diet with 300 mg/kg of the fermented Ca butyrate from 50 to 58 weeks of age. Each treatment had 6 replicates with 16 hens each. The diet supplemented with 300 mg/kg fermented Ca butyrate notably increased egg weight, ovarian follicle number, and eggshell strength(P = 0.072) as compared to the basal diet, which were associated with cytokine secretion, toll-like receptor signaling pathways, and intestinal immunity based on the RNA-seq data from the granulosa. Dietary Ca butyrate inclusion decreased the expression of ileal tumor necrosis factor-alpha and serum pro-inflammatory cytokine concentration, as well as increased the content of serum immunoglobulin A when compared to the basal diet(both P 0.05). In addition, the diet with fermented Ca butyrate reduced the number of osteoclasts in the proximal tibia and the level of C-terminal cross-linked telopeptide of type I collagen, a bone resorption marker(P < 0.05), whereas it tended to increase the concentration of the procollagen type I N-terminal propeptide that reflects bone formation marker in serum. Moreover, the layers fed fermented Ca butyrate diets possessed higher(P < 0.05) bone area and trabecular number of the proximal tibia, yield load, and ultimate load than those that consumed basal diets. MG63 Osteoblast-like Cells Growth Behaviour on Carbon/Carbon Composites with Different Carbon Matrixes

During the process that implant materials are used for bone replacement,the cell responses to implant materials determine the long-term stability of bone *** microstructure of implant materials is considered as a critical factor that influences the cell ***/Carbon composites（C/C composites） are novel implant materials,but there are few reports on the effect of their microstructure,especially the carbon matrixes and holes,on cell *** this paper,C/C composites with different carbon matrixes are prepared by chemical vapor infiltration and pressure impregnation carbonization technique,*** structure of holes is *** cell responses to C/C composites with different carbon matrixes are evaluated with MG63 osteoblast-like *** morphologies of MG63 osteoblast-like cells on the surface of C/C composites,especially in the holes are assessed by scanning electron microscope,and cell proliferation behavior is evaluated by 3-[4,5-dimethylthiozol-2-yl]-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide（MTT） assay. The results show that MG63 osteoblast-like cells have a lamellar morphology with similar sizes and spreading areas as well as the same proliferation behaviors for C/C composites with different carbon *** matrix shows unapparent influence on the cell growth ***,MG63 osteoblast-like cells have various interactions with the holes of C/C *** cells stride over the holes with 6～8μm in size,and connect with each other or grow along the curvature wall of the holes with a size of 30-40μm;the cells present three-dimensional morphologies inside the holes and display circular shapes along the ridge of the *** cell-material interactions are found according to the size and position of the holes,which provides theoretical foundation for the microstructure design of clinical C/C composites.

Nitroreductases(NTRs) are known to be able to metabolize nitro-substituted compounds in the presence of reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NADH) as an electron donor. NTRs are present in a wide range of bacterial genera and, to a lesser extent, in eukaryotes hypoxic tumour cells and tumorous tissues, which makes it an appropriate biomarker for an imaging target to detect the hypoxic status of cancer cells and potential bacterial infections. To evaluate the specific activation level of NTR, great efforts have been devoted to the development of fluorescent probes to detect NTR activities using fluorogenic methods to probe its behaviour in a cellular context; however, NTR-responsive MRI contrast agents are still by far underexplored. In this study, para-nitrobenzyl substituted T_1-weighted magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)contrast agent Gd-DOTA-PNB(probe 1) has been designed and explored for the possible detection of *** experimental results show that probe 1 could serve as an MRI-enhanced contrast agent for monitoring NTR activity. The in vitro response and mechanism of the NTR catalysed reduction of probe 1 have been investigated through LC–MS and MRI. Para-nitrobenzyl substituted probe 1 was catalytically reduced by NTR to the intermediate para-aminobenzyl substituted probe which then underwent a rearrangement elimination reaction to Gd-DOTA, generating the enhanced T1-weighted MR imaging. Further, LC–MS and MRI studies of living Escherichia coli have confirmed the NTR activity detection ability of probe 1 at a cellular level. This method may potentially be used for the diagnosis of bacterial infections.

This paper considers online classification learning algorithms for regularized classification schemes with generalized gradient. A novel capacity independent approach is presented. It verifies the strong convergence of sizes and yields satisfactory convergence rates for polynomially decaying step sizes. Compared with the gradient schemes, this al- gorithm needs only less additional assumptions on the loss function and derives a stronger result with respect to the choice of step sizes and the regularization parameters.

α-MnO_2 hollow clews for rechargeable Li-air batteries with improved cyclability

Lithium-air(Li-air) batteries have attracted worldwide attention due to their high energy density(11140 Wh kg-1) comparable to *** this work,we have synthesized the α-MnO2 hollow clews via a simple method and characterized them by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron ***,cycle performance of Li-air batteries is improved greatly when using the α-MnO2 hollow clews as the *** first discharge capacity is 596 mAh g-1,and the charge capacity is 590 mAh g-1 at the current density of 0.1 mA cm-2 between 2.0 and 4.2 V using the Vulcan XC-72 as the carbon ***,by re-assembling new batteries with the used lithium foil,separators and cathode separately,we find that the cathode is the key role to end the Li-air battery life.
