Adsorption of benzene and toluene from waste gas using activated carbon activated by ZnCl2

A series of activated carbons with high surface area were prepared from walnut shell using chemical activation with ZnCl2. In this research the carbonization stage was carried out at 500℃. The performance of the synthesized carbons evaluated in adsorption of benzene and toluene from waste gas. The influence of impregnation ratio on the characteristics of synthesized activated carbons as well as their adsorption capacity was investigated. The ratio of activation agent to walnut shell was selected in the range of 0.5-2.0 wt/wt. The synthesized activated carbons were characterized using XRD, SEM, BET and FTIR techniques. The highest activated carbon production yield was obtained at impregnation ratio of 1.5 wt/wt. The XRD analysis illustrated that peaks intensity decreased with increasing impregnation ratio showing that amorphous property of samples was increased. The SEM analysis revealed successful pore development in synthesized activated carbons obtained at high impregnation ratios. The surface area of the activated carbons increased with increasing impregnation ratio and its maximum value reached 2643 m2.g 1 at impregnation ratio of 2/1. FTIR analysis indicated that the relative amount of different acidic surface groups on synthesized carbons was a function of impregnation ratio. Experimental results for benzene and toluene adsorption showed a high potential of employing synthesized impregnated activated carbon for treatment of waste gas. Generally, the amount of VOC adsorbed on the surface was affected by physicochemical properties of synthesized activated carbons.

Heavy-ion-driven fusion （HIF） is a scheme to achieve inertial confinement fusion （ICF）. Investigation of the non-uniformity of heavy-ion beam （HIB） irradiation is one of the key issues for ICF driven by powerful heavy-ion beams. Ions in HIB impinge on the pellet surface and deposit their energy in a relatively deep and wide area. Therefore, the non-uniformity of HIB irradiation should be evaluated in the volume of the deposition area in the absorber layer. By using the OK1 code with some corrections, the non-uniformity of heavy-ion beam irradiation for the different ion beams on two kinds of targets were evaluated in 12-beam, 20-beam, 60-beam and 120-beam irradiation schemes. The root-mean-square （RMS） non-uniformity value becomes aRMS = 8.39% in an aluminum mono-layer pellet structure and aRMS = 6.53% in a lead-aluminum layer target for the 12-uranium-beam system. The RMS non-uniformity for the lead-aluminum layer target was lower than that for the mono-layer target. The RMS and peak-to-valley （PTV） non-uniformities are reduced with the increase in beam number, and low at the Bragg peak layer.

Linear alkyl benzenes （LABs） are the main materials for detergent production. The presence of aromatic compounds in this material can decrease the quality of the final product and enhance the deactivation rate of catalysts. In this research we used zeolite NaX for de-aromatization of the recycled paraffin from the alkylation unit of an LAB production complex. The effect of different parameters on the removal efficiency of adsorbent was studied and optimized. To study the re-usability of the adsorbent, the breakthrough curves were obtained by using a fixed bed column filled with the adsorbent. The results indicated that the adsorbent capacity remained unchanged after three regeneration cycles. The Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption models were applied to describe the equilibrium isotherms. It was concluded that the Langmuir model agreed well with the experimental data. The calculated thermodynamic parameters of the adsorption showed that the adsorption process was spontaneous and exothermic. The reaction rate was estimated by the pseudo-second order kinetic model.

A diamine was synthesized by two successive reactions. Nucleophilic reaction of 4-hydroxybenzoic acid with terephthaloyl chloride yielded terephthaloyl bis（4-oxybenzoic） acid. Then reaction of this compound with 1,8-diamino-3,6- dioxaoctane via Yamazaki method resulted in preparation of diamine named terephthalic acid bis（4-{2-[2-（2-amino ethoxy）ethoxy]ethyl carbamoyl}phenyl） ester. After fully characterization it was used to prepare new polyimides through polycondensation with different dianhydrides using trimethylchlorosilane. Characterization of polymers was achieved by common methods and their physical properties including inherent viscosity, thermal behavior, thermal stability, crystallinity and solubility were studied. Prepared polyimides showed improved solubility and good thermal stability.

Electrical conductivity(EC)is considered as the most important indicator for assessment of groundwater *** of suitable interpolation method for derivation of groundwater quality variables map such as EC is dependent on region conditions and existence of enough *** determining groundwater EC,341 groundwater samples were randomly collected from the central regions of Guilan province,paddy soils,in northern *** methods including inverse distance weighting(IDW),global polynomial interpolation(GPI),local polynomial interpolation(LPI),radial basis function(RBF),ordinary kriging(OK)and empirical Bayesian Kriging(EBK)were used to generate spatial distribution of groundwater *** results indicate that EBK is a superior method with the least RMSE,MAE and the highest R *** generated maps can be used to identify the regions in the studied area where groundwater could be allowed to be extracted and utilized by farmers to reduce adverse effect of the scarcity of surface water.

Near Dochah, in the type area of the Qom Formation, Central Iran, the Miocene is partly developed in pelagic facies. From the 894.1 meter thick, ＇a to e＇ members of this section, 152 samples were collected. Abundant planktonic foraminifera let us correlate the study section with the global planktonic foraminifera biozonations. High diversity of foraminifera in the study section allow us to adapt the study succession to global biozonations. Twenty-seven genera and thirty-four species are reported for the first time from the Dochah section. First reports of Praeorbulina sicana and Praeorbulina transitoria in the upper part of this section led to recognition of the Praeorbulina sicana lower occurrence subzone （M5a） biozone with a late Late Burdigalian age.

The effect of target material and dimensions on transfer efficiency and symmetrical irradiation in the hohlraum are *** analysis led to the evaluation of optimal target materials and dimensions to achieve a positive power balance of an ICF power *** results show that the best choice is a high Z material for cavity wall materials and a low Z material for the capsule *** is concluded that for achieving the highest transfer efficiency and best symmetrization we need an area ratio between 5≤A2/A1≤9.
