A systematic review and meta-analysis of dietary fat effects on reproductive performance of sows and growth performance of piglets

Effects of added fat in sow diets on the sows’reproductive performance and offspring growth performance are influenced by multiple factors such as genetics,nutrition,parity,ambient temperatures,and farm *** studies cannot cover all these *** the view to address this challenge,we searched all studies that were published from 1986 to 2020,and performed a systematic review and meta-analysis on the fat *** total,19 papers were collected and *** supplementation in sow diets during late gestation and lactation decreased average daily feed intake(ADFI,Ply energy intake(ADEI,P=0.11).It had no impact on litter weights at birth(P=0.40)or weaning(P=0.46).It increased total numbers of piglets at birth(P=0.07),but had no effect on liveborn per litter(P=0.90)or survival rate(P=0.48)of piglets to *** supplementation had no significant effect on sow body weight loss(P=0.67)or backfat thickness changes(P=0.66),but sows fed diets with added fat had increased milk fat concentration(P=0.03)and shorter wean to estrus intervals(WEI,P=0.01).In specific circumstances,fat supplementation tended to improve growth performance of piglets with low litter weights at birth(P=0.14),or when the sows lost large amounts of body weight during lactation(P=0.11).The level of supplemented fat was 10%and higher would decrease liveborn per litter at neutral temperature(P=0.10).The meta-analysis revealed that fat supplementation to sows diet during late gestation and lactation can be beneficial for sow reproductive performance and litter growth performance.

A theoretical approach and laboratory practice of determining the alpha factors of volatile organic compound (VOC) liquid-phase mass transfer coefficients are present in this study. Using Purge & Trap Concentrator, VOC spiked water samples are purged by high-purity nitrogen in the laboratory, the VOC liquid-phase mass transfer rate constants under the laboratory conditions are then obtained by observing the variation of VOCs purged out of the water with the purge time. The alpha factors of VOC liquid-phase mass transfer coefficients are calculated as the ratios of the liquid-phase mass transfer rate constants in real water samples to their counterparts in pure water under the same experimental conditions. This direct and fast approach is easy to control in the laboratory, and would benefit mutual comparison among researchers, so might be useful for the study of VOC mass transfer across the liquid-gas interface.

Coronal shear fractures of the distal humerus are rare,complex fractures that can be technically challenging to manage. They usually result from a low-energy fall and direct compression of the distal humerus by the radial head in a hyper-extended or semi-flexed elbow or from spontaneous reduction of a posterolateral subluxation or dislocation. Due to the small number of soft tissue attachments at this site, almost all of these fractures are displaced. The incidence of distal humeral coronal shear fractures is higher among women because of the higher rate of osteoporosis in women and the difference in carrying angle between men and women. Distal humeral coronal shear fractures may occur in isolation, may be part of a complex elbow injury, or may be associated with injuries proximal or distal to the elbow. An associated lateral collateral ligament injury is seen in up to 40% and an associated radial head fracture is seen in up to 30% of these fractures. Given the complex nature of distal humeral coronal shear fractures, there is preference for operative management. Operative fixation leads to stable anatomic reduction, restores articular congruity, and allows initiation of early range-of-motion movements in the majority of cases. Several surgical exposure and fixation techniques are available to reconstruct the articular surface fol owing distal humeral coronal shear fractures. The lateral extensile approach and fixation with countersunk headless compression screws placed in an anterior-to-posterior fashion are commonly used. We have found a two-incision approach(direct anterior and lateral) that results in less soft tissue dissection and better outcomes than the lateral extensile approach in our experience. Stiffness, pain, articular incongruity, arthritis, and ulnohumeral instability may result if reduction is non-anatomic or if fixation fails.

Comparative Study on Shearing Edge Quality Influence of the Change of Tool Geometry in Fine-Blanking for Non-homogeneous Materials

Excellent quality of shearing edge implies that a s mo oth cutting edge without tearing will be observed on the whole edge surface. Thi s is one of the most significant features of the Fine-blanking process. To achi eve such a superb blanking edge quality in fine-blanking, there actually involv es quite a large number of factors, such as blanking speed, processing material, product shape, lubrication and tool geometry, to be considered simultaneously d uring the operation. Nevertheless, the thorough investigations on different effe cts of those critical factors for different kinds of popular and applicable mate rial are rare and limited. Thus, the objective of this paper is mainly focused o n the study of the quality influence of tool geometry change in fine-blanking f or non-homogeneous materials. However, the most obvious change of the tool geo metry during the operation will be the essential variation of the nose radius of the punch. This is because the nose radius usually seriously deteriorates with the increasing service period in mass production which eventually causes the ent irely lose of the specific features of the fine-blanking process. Therefore, a tailor-made experimental study was carried out to investigate the relationship between the punch nose radius and the shearing edge quality, such as blanked edg e finish, burr height and die-roll height, during fine-blanking for different types of material. Five punches with each specified nose radius (Rp), 0.00 mm, 0.25 mm, 0.50 mm, 0.75 mm and 1.00 mm, and four kinds of blanking material ( Mil d steel SS400, Stainless steel AISI316l, Copper alloy UNSC16200 and Aluminium al loy AA6063 ) were employed throughout the study. Subsequently, features of the s heared edge surfaces and data of each experiment were observed and captured for further analysis in this research. AIM: To evaluate pain control in chronic pancreatitis patients who underwent total pancreatectomy with islet cell transplantation or intrathecal narcotic pump ***: We recognized 13 patients who underwent intrathecal narcotic pump(ITNP) infusion and 57 patients who underwent total pancreatectomy with autologous islet cell transplantation(TP + ICT) for chronic pancreatitis(CP) pain control between 1998 and 2008 at Indiana University Hospital. All patients had already failed multiple other modalities for pain control and the decision to proceed with either intervention was made at the discretion of the patients and their treating physicians. All patients were evaluated retrospectively using a questionnaire inquiring about their pain control(using a 0-10 pain scale), daily narcotic dose usage, and hospital admission days for pain control before each intervention and during their last follow-up. RESUlTS: All 13 ITNP patients and 30 available TP + ICT patients were evaluated. The mean age was approximately 40 years in both groups. The median duration of pain before intervention was 6 years and 7 years in the ITNP and TP + ICT groups, respectively. The median pain score dropped from 8 to 2.5(on a scale of 0-10) in both groups on their last follow up. The median daily dose of narcotics also decreased from 393 mg equivalent of morphine sulfate to 8 mg in the ITNP group and from 300 mg to 40 mg in the TP + ICT group. No patient had diabetes mellitus(DM) before either procedure whereas 85% of those who underwent pancreatectomy were insulin dependent on their last evaluation despite ICT. CONClUSION: ITNP and TP + ICT are comparable for pain control in patients with CP however with high incidence of DM among those who underwent TP + ICT. Prospective comparative studies and longer follow up are needed to better define treatment outcomes.

Regeneration of pure water is an important issue not only for the healthy life but also for the fine control of precise processes in various *** important issue in ultrahigh purified water is to reduce the amount of total organic carbon(TOC).Herein,we introduce a new approach to reduce the TOC using the surface silanized nanoparticles,in which the magnetic nanoparticles(mNPs)are silanized and then complexed with ion exchange resin(IER)*** Fe3O4 mNPs are surface modified by using high concentrated vinyltrimethoxysilane(VTMS)and then adhered on the surface of IER *** surface modified mNPs have a thick-shell of polysiloxane layer varying from 5 to 22 nm depending on the amount of VTMS used,which leads the significant increase of specific surface *** IER beads embedding VTMS-silanized mNPs achieves about 7μg/l of the TOC level in ultrapure water system,which is two orders less than 228μg/l of the feeding water and one order less than 96μg/l from the system using pristine IER *** result is mainly attributed to the polysiloxane layer forming broccoli-like surface structure and some part by the vinyl group of VTMS exposed to the amines in the water.

Dislocation structures in polycrystalline Ni 3Al alloy doped with palladium deformed at room temperature have been investigated by transmission electron microscopy. The structure consists mainly of dislocations dissociated into a /2〈011〉 super partials bounding an anti phase boundary (APB). Dislocations dissociated into a /3〈112〉 super Shockley partials bounding a superlattice intrinsic stacking fault (SISF) are also common debris. The majority of the SISFs are truncated loops, i.e. the partials bounding the SISF are of similar Burgers vector. These faulted loops are generated from APB coupled dislocations, according to a mechanism for formation of SISFs proposed by Suzuki et al , and recently modified by Chiba et al . The APB energies for {111} and {010} slip planes are measured to be 144±20 mJ/m 2 and 102±11 mJ/m 2 respectively, and the SISF energy has been estimated to be 12 mJ/m 2 in this alloy. It is concluded that the dislocation structure in Ni 74.5 Pd 2Al 23.5 alloy deformed at room temperature is similar to that in binary Ni 3Al, and the difference in fault energies between these two alloys is small. Thus, it seems unlikely that the enhancement of ductility of Ni 74.5 Pd 2Al 23.5 results from only such a small decrease of the ordering energy of the alloy. SISF bounding dislocations also have no apparent influence on the ductilization of Ni 74.5 Pd 2Al 23.5 alloy.
