Research indicates that individuals with schizophrenia recover. Recovery, however means different things to different individuals and regardless of what kind of experiences define recovery, the individual diagnosed with the serious mental illness must feel ownership of their recovery. This raises the issue of how mental health services should systematically promote recovery. This paper explores the practical implications for research on metacognition in schizophrenia for this issue. First, we present the integrated model of metacognition, which defines metacognition as the spectrum of activities which allow individual to have available to themselves an integrated sense of self and others as they appraise and respond to the unique challenges they face. Second, we present research suggesting that many with schizophrenia experience deficits in metacognition and that those deficits compromise individuals' abilities to manage their lives and mental health challenges. Third, we discuss a form of psychotherapy inspired by this research, Metacognitive Reflection and Insight Therapy which assists individuals to recapture the ability to form integrated ideas about themselves and others and so direct their own recovery. The need for recovery oriented interventions to focus on process and on patient's purposes, assess metacognition and consider the intersubjective contexts in which this occurres is discussed.

Overcooling causes thermal discomfort and wastes *** of a novel dedicated outdoor air system(DOAS)consisting of a multi-stage direct expansion coil to generate extra-low temperature(XT)outdoor air to handle the entire space cooling demand for better energy and humidity control has been confirmed in previous *** these studies,the terminal system was assumed using variable air volume(VAV)without *** conventional VAV system without reheating has overcooling *** is associated with uncertain fluctuations of operating ***,virtually no study has been done to investigate its overcooling risk,and how it is compared with *** this study,a rigorous probabilistic approach is proposed to account for the uncertain fluctuations of operating characteristics to assess their overcooling *** Carlo simulations with 10,000 interactions was used for risk analysis.A morphing method was employed to develop 10,000 weather files that could give an accurate prediction of future variations in yearly weather *** datasets were used to develop the probability distribution functions to account for the daily variations in use *** most probable operating characteristics were input to EnergyPlus for hour-by-hour *** annual cooling load profile formulated by the probabilistic approach was successfully validated by in-situ *** probabilistic assessment results show that XT-DOAS has far less overcooling hours and lower long-term percentage of dissatisfied than the conventional VAV *** results also indicate that the proposed probabilistic approach is useful for a robust system performance evaluation.

The present work covers the preparation of carbon-based nanosorbents by ethylene decomposition on stainless steel mesh without the use of external catalyst for the treatment of water containing nickel ions （Ni2＋）. The reaction temperature was varied from 650 to 850℃, while reaction time and ethylene to nitrogen flow ratio were maintained at 30 rain and 1：1 cma/min, respectively. Results show that nanosorbents synthesised at a reaction temperature of 650℃ had the smallest average diameter （75 nm）, largest BET surface area （68.95 m2/g） and least amount of impurity （0.98 wt.% Fe）. A series of batch sorption tests were performed to evaluate the effects of initial pH, initial metal concentration and contact time on Ni2~ removal by the nanosorbents. The equilibrium data fitted well to Freundlich isotherm. The kinetic data were best correlated to a pseudo second-order model indicating that the process was of chemisorption type. Further analysis by the Boyd kinetic model revealed that boundary layer diffusion was the controlling step. This primary study suggests that the prepared material with Freundiich constants compared well with those in the literature, is a promising sorbent for the sequestration of Ni2＋ in aqueous solutions.

In this paper, an economic model was constructed to determine the optimal wolf population and distribution across the Northern Rocky Mountains. Both ecological and economic concepts were incorporated in an implicitly spatial social welfare maximization problem. This interdisciplinary model relies on multiple data sources, including current wolf population and distribution information, opportunity cost to local landowners, and contingent valuation studies to determine willingness-to-pay for wolves. Economic models tend to externalize ecological concerns and ecological models often omit the complex human dimensions of conservation policy. Accordingly, this model can serve as a guide for integrating best practices from both fields. The model presented here is sufficiently general to apply to wolves in other ecosystems and to other highly interacting species such as beavers and bison. The Northern Rocky Mountain wolf was used as an example of how this economic model works, but this model can be applied far more broadly.

Effect of Thermal Refining on Mechanical Properties of Annealed SAE 4130 by Multilayer GTAW

During the first welding process in manufacturing a precise seam container, the steel material must first undergo a full annealing treatment. Multilayer welding operations are conducted and then applied with refining treatment to obtain the goal by hardening. The influence of thermal refining on mechanical properties of annealed SAE 4130 by multilayer GTAW （gas tungsten arc welding） was discussed. The AW （annealing＋welding） and AWST （annealing＋welding＋solution＋tempering） occurred with a minimum hardness value at GGHAZ （grain growth heat affected zone） due to coarse grain growth~ the hardness occurred with sudden drops between the multilayer welding, but was still larger than the minimum value at HAZ （heat affected zone）. The welded joint efficiency of the AWST was 89.9%, with the elongation reduced to 77.2% of AST （annealing＋solution＋tempering）. The cross section of the tensile samples both appeared with a uniform dimple-shaped structure, and however the necking for AST was greater than that for AWST. The impact value for AWST was 166.5% of AST. Moreover, from microstructure observations, it was found that AWST had a greater tendency to ductile failure than AST. These results can be inferred., the process of steady pressure and the initial position of the precision tube breakage HAZ. However, when stress occurs instantly, HAZ can absorb more energy, therefore the initial damage does not occur.

Alias – Wavefront OBJ meshes are a common text file type for transferring 3D mesh data between applications made by different ***, as the mesh complexity gets higher and denser, the files become larger and slower to *** paper explores the use of GPUs to accelerate the importing and parsing of OBJ files by studying file read-time, runtime, and load resistance. We propose a new method of reading and parsing that circumvents GPU architecture limitations and improves performance, seeing the new GPU method outperforms CPU methods with a 6×– 8× speedup. When running on a heavily loaded system, the new method only received an 80% performance hit, compared to the160% that the CPU methods received. The loaded GPU speedup compared to unloaded CPU methods was3.5×, and, when compared to loaded CPU methods,8×. These results demonstrate that the time is right for further research into the use of data-parallel GPU acceleration beyond that of computer graphics and high performance computing.

Supramolecular proteins are generated using a limited set of twenty amino acids,but have distinctive functionalities which arise from the sequential arrangement of amino acids configured to exquisite three-dimensional ***,virus-like particles,ferritins,enzyme complexes,cellular micro-compartments,and other supramolecular protein assemblies exemplify these systems,with their precise arrangements of tens to hundreds of molecules into highly organized scaffolds for nucleic acid packaging,metal storage,catalysis or sequestering reactions at the nanometer *** versatile protein systems,dubbed as bionanoparticles(BNPs),have attracted materials scientists to seek new opportunities with these pre-fabricated templates in a wide range of nanotechnology-related ***,we focus on some of the key modification strategies that have been utilized,ranging from basic protein conjugation techniques to more novel strategies,to expand the functionalities of these multimeric protein ***,in combination with molecular cloning and sophisticated chemistries,these BNPs are being incorporated into many applications ranging from functional materials to novel biomedical drug designs.
