Performance of Different Orthodontic Brackets after Exposure to Dietary Components: An in VitroPilot Study

Introduction: The aim of this study was to determine whether there was a significant difference in shear bond strength between metal and ceramic brackets when exposed to acidic dietary components (beverages) and to observe the chromogenic potential of each in vitro. Methods: Metal and clear orthodontic brackets were placed on extracted maxillary second premolars and exposed to select beverages three times daily for four weeks. Shade was taken using a colorimeter device at seven intervals and the shear bond strength of each bracket was recorded. Results: There was a variable change in tooth shade with respect to the various beverages in which they were submerged. Coffee and Dr. Pepper had the most pronounced change, whereas Red Bull and water produced little to none, respectively. Compared to controls, brackets submerged in coffee had the greatest reduction in shear bond strength, followed by Dr. Pepper, then Red Bull. Overall, clear brackets showed higher shear bond strength than metal brackets. Conclusion: Acidic dietary components have a negative effect on the shear bond strength of orthodontic brackets, and more pigmented beverages have a higher chromogenic staining potential.

The tremendous growth of the cloud computing environments requires new architecture for security services. Cloud computing is the utilization of many servers/data centers or cloud data storages (CDSs) housed in many different locations and interconnected by high speed networks. CDS, like any other emerging technology, is experiencing growing pains. It is immature, it is fragmented and it lacks standardization. Although security issues are delaying its fast adoption, cloud computing is an unstoppable force and we need to provide security mechanisms to ensure its secure adoption. In this paper a comprehensive security framework based on Multi-Agent System (MAS) architecture for CDS to facilitate confidentiality, correctness assurance, availability and integrity of users' data in the cloud is proposed. Our security framework consists of two main layers as agent layer and CDS layer. Our propose MAS architecture includes main five types of agents: Cloud Service Provider Agent (CSPA), Cloud Data Confidentiality Agent (CDConA), Cloud Data Correctness Agent (CDCorA), Cloud Data Availability Agent (CDAA) and Cloud Data Integrity Agent (CDIA). In order to verify our proposed security framework based on MAS architecture, pilot study is conducted using a questionnaire survey. Rasch Methodology is used to analyze the pilot data. Item reliability is found to be poor and a few respondents and items are identified as misfits with distorted measurements. As a result, some problematic questions are revised and some predictably easy questions are excluded from the questionnaire. A prototype of the system is implemented using Java. To simulate the agents, oracle database packages and triggers are used to implement agent functions and oracle jobs are utilized to create agents.

This paper presents a new result of the thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity of chromium (Cr) nanoparticle suspended in distilled water at different concentration of nanoparticles. All samples have been prepared using single step method. The thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity were measured via hot wire-laser beam displacement technique. A numerical model of the heat conduction equation and probe beam deflection has been performed to determine the effective thermal conductivity and effective thermal diffusivity of chromium nanofluids. By fitting the experimental data to the numerical model, the thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity of chromium nanofluid were obtained. The results show that the effective thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity of chromium nanofluids increases with increasing of nanoparticles concentration in base fluid.

Objective:To assess the hepatoprotective effect of Solanum xanthocarpum(S. xanthocarpum) fruit extract against antitubercular drug-induced liver toxicity in experimental ***:Ethanolic(50%) fruit extract ofS. xanthocarpum(100, 200 and 400 mg/kg bw) was administered daily for 35 days in experimental animals. liver toxicity was induced by combination of three antitubercular drugs [isoniazid(I) 7.5 mg/kg, rifampicin(R) 10 mg/kg and pyrazinamide(P) 35 mg/kg] given orally as suspension for 35 days in rats. The hepatoprotective activity was assessed using various biochemical parameters like aspartate aminotransferase(AST), alanine aminotransferase(AlT), alkaline phosphatise(AlP), total bilirubin(TBl), albumin(AlB), total protein(TP), lactate dehydroginase(lDH), and serum cholesterol(CHl). Meanwhile,in vivoantioxidant activities as lipid peroxidation(lPO), reduced glutathione(GSH), superoxide dismutase(SOD) and catalase(CAT) were measured in rat liver homogenate. The biochemical observations were supplemented by histopathological ***:The results demonstrated that treatment ***(Ply prevented drug induced increase in serum levels of hepatic enzymes. Furthermore,S. xanthocarpumsignificantly(up toPlPO in the liver tissue and restored activities of defence antioxidant enzymes GSH, SOD and CAT towards normal levels. Histopathology of the liver tissue showed that S. xanthocarpumattenuated the hepatocellular necrosis and led to reduction in inflammatory cells ***:The results of this study strongly indicate the protective effect of S. xanthocarpumagainst liver injury which may be attributed to its hepatoprotective activity, and thereby scientifically support its traditional use.

MXene is a variety of new two-dimensional(2D)materials with early transition metal carbides,nitrides,and *** chemical studies have been carried out on the geometries,electronic structures,stability and catalytic properties of a non-noble metal single-atom catalyst(SAC)with single Co atom anchored on MXene materials of Mo_(2)CS_(2).The Co adatom anchored on top of the Mo atom of this MXene is found to be rather stable,and this SAC is appropriate for CO *** charge transfers from the surface to the adsorbed CO and O2 play a significant role in the activation of these molecules on Co_(1)/Mo_(2)CS_(2).With this catalyst,the Eley-Rideal(ER),langmuir-Hinshelwood(lH),and Termolecular Eley-Rideal(TER)mechanisms are explored for CO *** find that,while all the three mechanisms are feasible at low temperature,Co_(1)/Mo_(2)CS_(2) possesses higher catalytic activity for CO oxidation through the TER mechanism that features an intriguing OC(OO)CO intermediate(IM)adsorbed on Co single *** calculated activation energy barriers of the rate-limiting step are 0.67 eV(TER),0.78 eV(lH)and 0.88 eV(ER),*** present study illustrates that it is promising to develop and design low-cost,non-noble metal SACs using MXene types of 2D materials.

Infections in Cirrhotics: Types, Microbiological Spectrum and Risk Factors—5-Year Cohort Study

Cirrhosis is an immunocompromised state that leads to various infections, with an estimated 30% mortality. Pakistan already has a high morbidity and mortality related to complications of cirrhosis. Where the data on infection among cirrhotics is scanty, this study aimed to determine the frequency, microbiological spectrum and various risk factors of infections in cirrhosis of liver. This is a prospective cohort study conducted at a tertiary care hospital. The microbiological spectrum and frequency of infections was determined in cirrhotics. Various risk factors for infection among cirrhotics were evaluated like upper gastrointestinal bleed, use of proton pump inhibitors, malnutrition and severity of cirrhosis. Out of eleven hundred and forty-one patients with cirrhosis of liver, four hundred and ninety (42.94%) patients had infections. All kinds of infections like peritoneal, respiratory, urinary tract and skin were present in cirrhosis of liver where ascitic fluid infections (AFI) were the commonest i.e. 44.89%. The risk factors for bacterial infections among patients with cirrhosis of liver were upper gastrointestinal bleeding (odd ratio = 4.57, p = 0.0001), use of proton pump inhibitors (odd ratio = 2.57, p = 0.0001), degree of malnutrition (odd ratio = 10.34, p = 0.0001) and severity of cirrhosis (odd ratio = 12.99, p = 0.000). All types of infections occurred with varying frequency in cirrhosis of liver. Upper gastrointestinal bleeding, severity of cirrhosis, use of high dose proton pump inhibitors and severe malnutrition are important risk factors for infections among cirrhotics.

Induced Systemic Resistance in Two Genotypes of Brassica napus(AACC) and Raphanus oleracea(RRCC) by TrichodermaIsolates against Sclerotinia sclerotiorum

Two different species, Trichoderma viride TV10 and Trichoderma harzianum TH12 from 30 Trichoderma isolates were selected out based on their high growth inhibition of the phytopathogen Sclerotinia sclerotiorum (lib) de Bary, which reached 84.44% and 100%, respectively. Their untreated culture filtrates (CF) and culture filtrates treated with heat (CFH) also were tested for growth inhibition of the pathogen in potato dextrose agar (PDA). Morphological and molecular characterisation by internal transcribed spacer (ITS) PCR provided consistent identification of these isolates. The degree of infection and disease index (DI) of S. sclerotiorum were examined in Brassica napus (AACC) and Raphanus alboglabra (RR) and Brassica alboglabra (CC). The results revealed that Raphanus alboglabra showed higher disease resistance than that of B. napus. Biotic elecitors T. harzianum TH12 and T. viride TV10 and their CF and CFH demonstrated the ability to cause induced systemic resistance (ISR) in B. napus and Raphanus alboglabra against sclerotinia stem rot (SSR) disease. Furthermore, a high ability to reduce the degree of infection and DI in B. napus with the biotic elicitors T. harzianum TH12 and T. viride TV10 was observed, with numbers reaching 7.22% to 6.67% and 17.78% to 11.67%, respectively. When CF were used, reached 20.00% to 16.67% and 33.33% to 23.33%, respectively;with CFH, values reached 35.00% to 21.67% and 37.78% to 28.33%, respectively. While in Raphanus alboglabra the degree of infection and DI reached 0.00% and 0.00% with all biotic elicitors treatments. These results show that biotic elicitor treatments significantly (P B. napus and Raphanus alboglabra ranked as most effective. This study showed for the first time the ability of genotype Raphanus alboglabra (RRCC) to demonstrate resistance against S. sclerotiorum with or without treatment by biotic elicitors and the ability of genotype B. napus (AACC) to demonstrate resistance to the pathogen after treatment with bio

Cyber security is an important element of national security and the safekeeping of a nation’s constituency and assets. In Saudi Arabia, the point of interest on cyber security is particularly outstanding due to the fact that Saudi Arabia has a highly cyber attacks all over the Arab countries. This paper displays on contemporary studies done in Saudi Arabia in regards to cyber security policy coverage. The point of interest of this paper is the use of ontology to identify and suggest a formal, encoded description of the cyber security strategic environment, and propose the development of ontology to be able to permit the implementation of the sort of policy. The intention of the ontology is to become aware of and constitute the multi-layered company of gamers and their related roles and obligations within the cyber security environment. This could make contributions in large part to the improvement, implementation and rollout of a country wide cyber security policy in Saudi Arabia.

Spectrum of Diseases, Disease Related Mortality and Overall Financial Burden of Hospitalized Patients in Medical Wards of Tertiary Care Public Hospital

Background: Detailed assessment of pattern of diseases and trend of mortalities tends to aid in formulating pivotal aspects of in-hospital policies, standards of care and so consequently promoting efficient work system. This also reserves limited resources keeping within the limit of financial grasp. The study aims to reimburse the colossal paucity of data covering epidemiological burden of diseases, impact on mortality as well as financial burden in socioeconomically challenged public health system. Methods: This was a retrospective cross-sectional hospital based study conducted in department of Medicine, Civil Hospital Karachi, from February 2016 to July 2016 using questionnaire based data collection system. Results: Eight thousand and fifty three (8053) cases with almost equal gender proportion were analyzed. Chronic liver disease (ClD) was the most rampant disease, followed by cerebrovascular accident (CVA), tuberculosis and diabetes. Overall 51% cases were attributed to infectious diseases. Overall the average percentage mortality was found to be 20% of all cases. Mean duration of stay was 7.56 ± 7 days. Estimated average total in-hospital expenditure per patient on each visit or stay was 159.15 ± 41.2 $USD (16670.96 ± 4315.7 PKR). Average total diagnostic and medications costs per visit or stay were 89.74 ± 31.2 $USD (9400.26 ± 3268.2 PKR) and 48.68 ± 18.0 $USD (5099.23 ± 1885.5 PKR) respectively. Conclusion: Chronic liver disease, cerebrovascular accident and diabetes were most frequent reasons of hospital admission and mortality. Recognition of most common and fatal diseases with their expenditure is going to lead to formulation of targeted policies both of which would be effective and efficient.
