Different aspects of cognitive function in adult patients with moyamoya disease and its clinical subtypes

Objective Although a few reports suggested that cognitive function impairment could be found in adult patients with moyamoya disease(MMD),there were still many aspects that are *** aim of our study was to assess the cognitive function of adult patients with MMD and its clinical *** 49 patients with MMD and 23 healthy controls were asked to take cognitive function *** function tests included IQ,prospective memory(PM),immediate memory(IM),verbal fluency(VF),visual breadth,attention,retrospective memory(RM),Stroop test,Wisconsin Card Sorting Test,Trail-Making Test Part A(TMT-A)and Continuous Performance Test(CPT).Independent t-analysis,one-way analysis of variance and Pearson correlation were used to seek for differences between subgroups and the correlation between cognitive *** Compared with healthy controls,adult patients with MMD had a comprehensive cognitive impairment,including IQ,PM,VF,attention,RM,Stroop,CPT and TMT-A,with more serious impairment in PM and *** and RM were separated,indicating that they were independent of each *** of attention was significantly different from healthy *** patients were better than male patients,where significant differences in PM,IM,Stroop and WCST could be *** haemorrhagic patients exhibited poorer in the dimension of PM and RM than the *** headache subtype exhibited poorer than healthy ***,RM,attention and executive function were moderately correlated with each *** Adult patients with MMD had a wide range of cognitive impairment with more serious impairment in memory and *** in cognitive function existed between the different subtypes of adult MMD.

Objective Few studies have reported the surgical treatment of carotid in-stent restenosis(ISR),more data and longer follow-up are *** describe the surgical treatment of ISR by standard carotid endarterectomy(CEA)with stent removal,including long-term follow-up in 10 patients from our *** Ten patients from our centre who underwent CEA with stent removal for ISR were retrospectively analysed,including nine symptomatic and one asymptomatic ISR of at least 70%with mean age 67.3,the median time between carotid artery stenting and CEA was 17 months(range,2-54 months).results Standard CEA with stent removal was performed in all 10 patients without much technical difficulty(9 male and 1 female,mean age 67.3).Two cases were performed in hybrid operation *** were a total of three complications that happened in three patients(30%)*** asymptomatic dissecting aneurysm was formed on the petrous internal carotid artery in one patient who was followed up without *** the second case,dissection occurred in the arterial wall distal to the site of the stent after stent removal revealed by intraoperative angiography,and another stent was *** patient sustained temporary hypoglossal nerve dysfunction *** third patient suffered cerebral hyperperfusion with complete recovery when *** neurological complications occurred in other seven *** follow-up of 25 months(range,11-54 months),one patient died of rectal cancer without ischaemic attack and restenosis 4 years postoperation;in one patient occurred recurrent symptomatic restenosis(90%)1 year later;all other patients remained asymptomatic and without recurrent restenosis(>50%)by follow-up carotid ultrasound or CT *** It seems that CEA with stent removal is a reasonable choice,by experienced hand,for symptomatic ISR with higher but acceptable *** indication of stent removal for asymptomatic ISR needs further observati

High-resolution Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Moyamoya Disease

Objective： To introduce the imaging characteristics of moyamoya disease （MMD） using high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging （HR-MRI） and to discuss the role of HR-MRI in differentiating MMD from other intracranial artery diseases, especially intracranial atherosclerotic disease （ICAD）. Data Sources： This review was based on the data in articles published between 2005 and 2015, which were obtained from PubMed. The keywords included HR-MRI, MMD, ICAD, and intracranial artery diseases. Study Selection： Articles related to HR-MRI for MMD or other intracranial artery diseases were selected for review. Results： There are differences between the characteristic patterns of HR-MRI in MMD and ICAD. MMD is associated with inward remodeling, smaller outer diameters, concentric occlusive lesions and homogeneous signal intensity, while ICAD is more likely to be associated with outward remodeling, normal outer diameters, eccentric occlusive lesions, and heterogeneous signal intensity. Other intracranial artery diseases, such as dissection and vasculitis, also have distinctive characteristics in HR-MRI. HR-MRI may become a useful tool for the differential diagnosis of MMD in the future. Conclusions： HR-MRI of MMD provides a more in-depth understanding of MMD, and it is helpful in evaluating pathological changes in the vessel wall and in differentiating MMD from other intracranial artery steno-occlusive diseases, particularly ICAD.以

Herein, the de novo synthesis of atropisomeric benzofurans through the Cu/spirocyclic-pyrrolidine-oxazoline(SPDO) complex catalyze asymmetric formal [3 + 2] cycloaddition between quinones and ynamides is explored, producing a range of structurally diverse axially chiral benzofurans in satisfactory yields with good to excellent enantioselectivities. Furthermore, density functional theory calculations were applied to explain the possible reaction mechanism.

Foliar Particulate Matter Distribution in Urban Road System of Beijing, China

Particulate matter(PM), one of the most important pollutants of traffic emission, threatens the health of urban ecosystems and citizens. Roadside trees play an important role in trapping PM, and the foliar PM load is a useful indicator for air PM pollution in road systems. To detect the relationships of foliar PM load with road structures, urbanization, and meteorology in road systems, we studied a widely-planted tree Sophora japonica L. in 100 roads and 10 yards of Beijing, China, and found that the foliar PM loads increased with the distances from the urban centre(DUC) linearly, while decreased with the road density. All-subsets regression analysis indicated that DUC, average monthly relative humidity, average monthly wind speed, and mean annual wind speed were the most important factors in predicting foliar PM load, rather than general situation of buildings and road cleanliness. The monthly relative humidity and monthly wind speed had a negative correlation to foliar PM, while the annual relative humidity and annual wind speed had a positive correlation to foliar PM. Suburban areas and these effective factors should be highlighted in PM control in Beijing.

Precipitation and control of BN inclusions in 42CrMo steel and their efect on machinability

The precipitation and control of boron nitrogen （BN） inclusions in 42CrMo steel were investigated and their effect on machinability was analyzed. First, the precipitation regularity of BN in 42CrMo steel was studied by theoretical calculation. Then, the machinability of the steel was investigated through contrast cutting experiments, and the composition and cooling rate of the steel were controlled to analyze the variation laws of the size, distribution, and area ratio of BN inclusions. Finally, the results were combined with the machinability of the steel to analyze the relationship among them. It is found that the machinability of the steel is mainly influenced by the diameter and quantity of BN inclusions. Fine and dispersedly distributed BN inclusions are more beneficial for the improvement in machinability of 42CrMo steel than coarse and sparse BN inclusions.

Precipitation behavior of BN type inclusions in 42CrMo steel

Automobile crankshaft steel 42CrMo, which requires excellent machinability and mechanical properties, cannot be manufactured by traditional methods. To achieve these qualities, the formation behavior of boron nitride （BN） inclusions in 42CrMo steel was studied in this article. First, the precipitation temperature and the amount of BN type inclusions with differ- ent contents of boron and nitrogen in molten steel were calculated thermodynamically by FactSage software. Then the mor- phology and the size of BN type inclusions as well as the influence of cooling methods on them were investigated by scanning electron microscopy. Furthermore, the effects of cooling rate and the contents of B and N in molten steel on the morphology, size, and distribution of BN type inclusions were studied quantitatively and detalledly by directional solidification experiments. It is found that different BN inclusions in molten steel can form by controlling the cooling rate and the contents of B and N, which is important for obtaining the excellent machinability of 42CrMo steel.

Investigating impacts of different building contents on the post-earthquake evacuation time using an agent-based model with considering turning behavior

Accurate assessment of crowd evacuation inside the post-earthquake environment is critical from many perspectives,but this issue receives much less attention compared to the seismic losses of structural and non-structural *** could be attributed to the fact that post-earthquake evacuation analysis is complex due to the interaction between human behavior and the actual built environment induced by different building *** study attempts to tackle this problem by investigating the impacts of different building contents on post-earthquake evacuation time by using an agent-based model that considers turning *** this end,the agent-based model is first described,including:properties of the agent-based model with turning behavior,key aspects in its formulation considering different evacuation stages,and influence of different building contents(namely,debris from partition walls and ceiling systems,and various types of equipment)on the agent’s ***,a school building is used as a benchmark problem to validate the model without earthquake,and the findings indicate that the agent-based model can match the real safety drill results reasonably *** the validation,the school building is subsequently designed in accordance with modern seismic design codes,and the influence of debris and equipment on post-earthquake evacuation time is quantitatively studied using a suite of pulse-type ground motions as *** on this case study,recommendations are made for structural and architectural designers in an effort to reduce the potential evacuation ***,debris induced by partition walls or ceiling systems should be controlled as it has the greatest impact on the total evacuation time.
