MR imag.ng.of g.ne transcription is important as it should enable the non-invasive detection of mRNA alterations in disease. A rang. of MRI methods have been proposed for in vivo molecular imag.ng.of cells based on the use of ultra- small super-paramag.etic iron oxide (USPIO) nanoparticles and related susceptibility weig.ted imag.ng.methods. Al-thoug. immunohistochemistry can robustly differentiate the expression of protein variants, there is currently no direct g.ne assay technique that is capable of differentiating.established to differentiate the induction profiles of c-Fos mRNA in vivo. To visualize the differential FosB g.ne expression profile in vivo after burn trauma, we developed MR probes that link the T2* contrast ag.nt [superparamag.etic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPION)] with an olig.deoxynucleotide (ODN) sequence complementary to FosB mRNA to visualize endog.nous mRNA targ.ts via in vivo hybridization. The presence of this SPION-ODN probe in cells results in localized sig.al reduction in T2*-weig.ted MR imag.s, in which the rate of sig.al reduction (R2*) reflects the reg.onal iron concentration at different stag.s of amphetamine (AMPH) exposure in living.mouse tissue. Our aim was to produce a superior contrast ag.nt that can be administered using.sys- temic as opposed to local administration and which will targ.t and accumulate at sites of burn injury. Specifically, we developed and evaluated a PEg.lated lipid coated MR probe with ultra-small super-paramag.etic iron oxide nanoparti- cles (USPION, a T2 susceptibility ag.nt) coated with cationic fusog.nic lipids, used for cell transfection and g.ne de- livery and covalently linked to a phosphorothioate modified olig.deoxynucleotide (sODN) complementary to c-Fos mRNA (SPION-cFos) and used the ag.nt to imag. mice with leg.burns. Emotion and Cog.ition: The Case of Military Personals

Tunisian veterans experienced uncommon circumstances that put their lives in permanent threat. In this context, it is crucial to understand the adaptive strateg. they tend to use. Distress takes place when military veterans use ineffective coping.styles within a taxing.and hig. demanding.context. The aim of the current study was to estimate the link between coping.styles, the psycholog.cal well-being.and work related stress. A second g.al is to extend the analyses for clinical diag.osis and providing.a specific interpretation of the military’s behavior. We investig.ted these issues in a qualitative study. Finding. are discussed in the context of a theoretical framework of transactional approach. This was a survey with a random sample of military officers stratified by rank (n = 26). Coping.strateg. scale (CSS), perceived stress (PSS) and psycholog.cal well-being.(PWBM) were administrated to veterans from different ranks (hig. ranks and low ranks). Additionally, Chi square frequencies were constructed between the perceived stress scales, coping.strateg.es and psycholog.cal well-being. Results were consistent and showed a best fit between perceived stress and ranks of officers (X2 = 0.026, p p g.strateg.es are predominantly used: problem resolution and avoidance. This further clarifies that military personals are incapable to maintain emotional balance and a satisfied imag. of themselves, complete absence of happiness and balance.

Atlanto-occipital dislocation(AOD) is being.increasing.y recog.ized as a potentially survivable injury as a result of improved prehospital manag.ment of polytrauma patients and increased awareness of this entity, leading.to earlier diag.osis and more ag.ressive treatment. However, despite overall improved outcomes, AOD is still associated with sig.ificant morbidity andmortality. The purpose of this paper is to review the biomechanical aspects, clinical features, radiolog.c criteria, and treatment strateg.es of AOD. g.ven that the diag.osis of AOD can be very challeng.ng. a hig. deg.ee of clinical suspicion is essential to ensure timely recog.ition and treatment, thus preventing.neurolog.cal decline or death.
