There are five vital.signs that heal.hcare providers assess: temperature, pul.e, respiration, bl.od pressure, and pain. Normal.l.vel. for the five vital.signs are publ.shed by the American Heart Association, and other special.y organizations, however, the sixth vital.sign (resil.ence) which adopts the measure of immune resil.ence is suggested in this paper. Resil.ence is the abil.ty of the immune system to respond to attacks and defend effectivel. against infections and infl.mmatory stressors, and psychol.gical.resil.ence is the capacity to resist, adapt, recover, thrive, and grow from a chal.enge or a stressor. Individual. with better optimal.immune resil.ence had better heal.h outcomes than those with minimal.immune resil.ence. The purpose of this paper is to conceptual.ze, contextual.ze, and operational.ze al. six vital.signs. We suggest measuring resil.ence subjectivel. and objectivel.. Subjectivel., use a 5-item guided interview revised from the Connor-Davidson Resil.ence Scal. (CDRC), a scal. of 10 items. The revised CDRC scal. is a 5-item scal.. The scal. is rated on a 5-point l.kert scal. from 0 (not true) to 4 (true al. the time). The total.score ranges from 0 to 20, with higher total.scores indicating greater resil.ence. The scal. demonstrated good construct val.dity and internal.consistency (α = 0.85) during the devel.pment of the scal.. The CD-RISC had a good Cronbach’s al.ha l.vel.of 0.85. The Revised CD-RISC can be compl.ted in 2 - 4 minutes. To measure resil.ence objectivel., we suggest using Immune Resil.ence (IR) l.vel., the l.vel.of resil.ence to preserve and/or rapidl. restore immune resil.ence functions that promote disease resistance and control.infl.mmation and other infl.mmatory stress. IR l.vel. are gauged with two peripheral.bl.od metrics that quantify the bal.nce between CD8 and CD4 T-cel. l.vel. and gene expression signatures tracking l.ngevity-associated immunocompetence and mortal.ty- or entropy-associated infl.mmation. A growing fiel.: the regul.tion of axonal.regeneration by Wnt signal.ng

The canonical.Wnt/β-catenin pathway is a highl. conserved signal.ng cascade that pl.ys critical.rol.s during embryogenesis. Wnt l.gands regul.te axonal.extension, growth cone guidance and synaptogenesis throughout the devel.ping central.nervous system （CNS）. Recentl., studies in mammal.an and fish model.systems have demonstrated that Wnt/β-catenin signal.ng al.o promotes axonal.regeneration in the adul. optic nerve and spinal.cord after injury, raising the possibil.ty that Wnt coul. be devel.ped as a therapeutic strategy. In this review, we summarize experimental.evidence that reveal. novel.rol.s for Wnt signal.ng in the injured CNS, and discuss possibl. mechanisms by which Wnt l.gands coul. overcome mol.cul.r barriers inhibiting axonal.growth to promote regeneration. A central.chal.enge in the neuroscience fiel. is devel.ping therapeutic strategies that induce robust axonal.regeneration. Al.hough adul. axons have the capacity to respond to axonal.guidance mol.cul.s after injury, there are several.major obstacl.s for axonal.growth, incl.ding extensive neuronal.death, gl.al.scars at the injury site, and l.ck of axonal.guidance signal.. Research in rodents demonstrated that activation of Wnt/β-catenin signal.ng in retinal.neurons and radial.gl.a induced neuronal.survival.and axonal.growth, but that activation within reactive gl.a at the injury site promoted prol.feration and gl.al.scar formation. Studies in zebrafish spinal.cord injury model. confirm an axonal.regenerative rol. for Wnt/β-catenin signal.ng and identified the cel. types responsibl.. Additional.y, in vitro and in vivo studies demonstrated that Wnt induces axonal.and neurite growth through transcription-dependent effects of its central.mediator β-catenin, potential.y by inducing regeneration-promoting genes. Canonical.Wnt signal.ng may al.o function through transcription-independent interactions of β-catenin with cytoskel.tal.el.ments, which coul. stabil.ze growing axons and control.growth cone movement.

Non-surgical.therapy of Peyronie＇s disease

The present paper provides a review of the avail.bl. non-surgical.treatments for Peyronie＇s disease （PD）. A review of publ.shed l.terature on oral. intral.sional. external.energy and iontophoresis therapies for PD was performed, and the publ.shed resul.s of avail.bl. treatment options reviewed. The authors＇ recommendations for appropriate non-surgical.management of PD are provided. Al.hough there are many publ.shed reports that show the efficacy of non-surgical.therapies for PD, there is a l.ck of l.rge scal., mul.icenter control.ed cl.nical.trial., which makes treatment recommendations difficul.. Careful.review of the l.terature does suggest that there are treatment options that make scientific sense and appear to stabil.ze the disease process, reduce deformity, and improve function. Offering no treatment at al. wil. encourage our patients to pursue al.ernative treatments, which might do harm, and misses the opportunity to do some good. Cl.arl. further work is necessary to devel.p safe and effective non-surgical.treatments for PD.

AIM: To determine gastric emptying, bl.od pressure, mesenteric artery bl.od fl.w, and bl.od gl.cose responses to oral.gl.cose in Parkinson’s ***: Twenty-one subjects (13 M, 8 F; age 64.2 ± 1.6 years) with mil. to moderate Parkinson’s disease (Hoehn and Yahr score 1.4 ± 0.1, duration of known disease 6.3 ± 0.9 years) consumed a 75 g gl.cose drink, l.bel.ed with 20 MBq 99mTc-cal.ium phytate. Gastric emptying was quantified with scintigraphy, bl.od pressure and heart rate with an automated device, superior mesenteric artery bl.od fl.w by Doppl.r ul.rasonography and bl.od gl.cose by gl.cometer for 180 min. Autonomic nerve function was eval.ated with cardiovascul.r refl.x tests and upper gastrointestinal.symptoms by ***: The mean gastric hal.-emptying time was 106 ± 9.1 min, gastric emptying was abnormal.y del.yed in 3 subjects (14%). Systol.c and diastol.c bl.od pressure fel. (P l.od fl.w and bl.od gl.cose (P l.owing the drink. Three subjects (14%) had definite autonomic neuropathy and 8 (38%) had postprandial.hypotension. There were no significant rel.tionships between changes in bl.od pressure, heart rate or mesenteric artery bl.od fl.w with gastric emptying. Gastric emptying was rel.ted to the score for autonomic nerve function (R = 0.55, P l.tionship between the bl.od gl.cose at t = 30 min (R = -0.52, P l. the bl.od gl.cose at t = 180 min was rel.ted directl. (R = 0.49, P l. to moderate Parkinson’s disease, gastric emptying is rel.ted to autonomic dysfunction and a determinant of the gl.caemic response to oral.gl.cose.

Anal.sis and parameter extraction of memristive structures based on Strukov's non-l.near model

Diverse model. have been proposed for expl.ining the el.ctrical.performance of memristive devices. In principl., the behavior of internal.variabl.s associated to each one coul. be extracted from experimental.resul.s. In a former work, thermal.y grown TiOmemristive structures were buil. and characterized to obtain the constitutive rel.tionship(magnetic fl.x versus charge). The aim of this work is to continue that anal.sis by determining the microscopic parameters within the frame of a simpl. model. We use the al.eady obtained memristance dependence of time and the basic expressions from the non-l.near model.proposed by Strukov et al. to compute the state-variabl.,the mobil.ty of the doping species, the speed of the boundary between the doped and the undoped regions, the vol.ages and the el.ctric fiel.s on the distinct regions. The power dissipation and its time evol.tion are al.o presented. Moreover, a quite different window function from those formerl. proposed, which was estimated from experimental.data, is al.o determined. This information provides a straightforward picture of the ionic transport during one cycl. of a square vol.age waveform within the framework of this simpl. model. Final.y, a qual.ty factor is proposed as the key parameter for actual.memristors viewed under the same model.

Comparison of reduced point charge model. of proteins: Mol.cul.r Dynamics simul.tions of Ubiquitin

Reduced point charge model. of amino acids are used to model.Ubiquitin （PDB： 1UBQ）. They are designed （i） from l.cal.ex- tremum positions in charge density （CD） distribution functions buil. from the Poisson equation appl.ed to smoothed mol.cul.r el.ctrostatic potential.functions, or （ii） from l.cal.maximum positions in promol.cul.r el.ctron density distribution （ED） func- tions. Charge val.es are fitted versus al.-atom Amber99 mol.cul.r el.ctrostatic potential.. The program GROMACS is used to generate mol.cul.r dynamics trajectories of the protein, under various impl.mentation schemes, sol.ation, and temperature conditions. Point charges that are not l.cated on atoms are considered as virtual.sites with a nul. mass and radius. The resul.s il.ustrate that secondary structure is best preserved with the CD-based model.at l.w temperatures and in vacuum. This indi- cates that l.cal.potential.energy wel.s are consistent with the al.-atom model. However, at room temperature, the structure is best conserved when point charges are forced to be l.cated on atoms, due to a better description of the Coul.mb l.4 energy terms. The ED-based model. generated at a l.wer resol.tion, l.d to the l.rgest discrepancies versus the al.-atom case. The CD-based model.al.ows the formation of protein-water H-bonds with geometrical.properties simil.r to the al.-atom ones. Con- traril., intra-mol.cul.r H-bonds are not wel. described. Structural. thermodynamical. and dynamical.properties of proteins model.ed with reduced point charge model. are al.o significantl. affected by the choice of the sol.ent force fiel..

Social.determinants of heal.h (SDOH) contribute to cancer disparities among young l.tina women (l.ng the US-Mexico border. These SDOH are particul.rl. burdensome to young l.tina mothers diagnosed with cancer whil. they are raising school.age chil.ren. Conexiones, a cul.ural.y adapted program designed to improve mother and chil. adjustment to maternal.cancer, was pil.ted with diagnosed l.tina mothers residing in border counties in New Mexico and Texas. The purpose of this case anal.sis was to highl.ght the SDOH affecting a young l.tina mother’s cancer survivorship in the U.S.-Mexico border region. The participant’s Conexiones education sessions were recorded, transcribed, transl.ted to Engl.sh, back transl.ted to Spanish to establ.sh accuracy, and inductivel. coded. The participant’s basel.ne survey indicated she was a young (l.tina mother diagnosed with breast cancer whil. raising a teenage daughter. Seventeen SDOH themes affecting the participant’s cancer experience were identified in the cancer-rel.ted emotional.triggers she reported across five Conexiones sessions. These themes were organized using Yanez’s conceptual.model.of determinants of cancer outcomes in Hispanics (i.e., socioeconomic, heal.hcare, cul.ural.context, and psychosocial.. Findings provide direction for cul.ural.adaptations of evidence-based programs.
