BACKGROUND We rep.rt a p.tient who was diagnosed with toxic myop.ricarditis secondary to hydrocarbon abuse using cardiac magnetic resonance imaging(CMR).CASE SUMMARY A 25-year-old male p.esented to emergency dep.rtment with chest p.in for 3 *** also rep.rted sniffing hydrocarbon containing inhalant for the last 1 *** showed elevated trop.nin and electrocardiograp.y was suggestive of acute *** showed left ventricular(LV)ejection fraction(EF)of 40%.Given p.tient’s trop.nin elevation and reduced EF,cardiac catheterization was p.rformed which showed normal *** was p.rformed for myocardial infarction with non-obstructive coronary arteries *** showed borderline LV function with edema in mid and ap.cal LV suggestive of *** CMR can be used to diagnose toxic myop.ricarditis secondary to hydrocarbon abuse.

In animal societies, behavioral idiosyncrasies of the individuals often guide which tasks theyshould p.rform. Such p.rsonality-sp.cific task p.rticip.tion can increase individual task efficiency,thereby imp.oving group.p.rformance. While several recent studies have documented group.levelbenefits of within-group.behavioral （i.e., p.rsonality） diversity, how these benefits are realized atthe individual level is unclear. Here we p.obe the individual-level benefits of p.rsonality-driven taskp.rticip.tion in the social sp.der Stegodyp.us dumicola. In S. dumicola, the p.esence of at leastone highly bold individual catalyzes foraging behavior in shy colony members, and all group.con-stituents heavily comp.te for p.ey. We assessed boldness by examining how quickly sp.dersresumed normal movement after a simulated p.edator attack. We test here whether （1） p.rticip.ntsin collective foraging gain more mass from p.ey items and （2） whether bold individuals are less re-sistant to starvation than shy sp.ders, which would motivate the bold individuals to forage ***, we assembled colonies of shy sp.ders with and without a bold individual, added one p.eyitem, and then tracked the mass gain of each individual sp.der after this single feeding event. Wefound that sp.ders that p.rticip.ted in p.ey cap.ure （whether bold or shy） gained more mass thannonp.rticip.tors, and colonies containing a single bold sp.der gained more total mass than p.relyshy colonies. We also found that bold sp.ders p.rticip.ted in more collective foraging events andwere more suscep.ible to starvation than shy sp.ders, suggesting that the aggressive foraging ofbold individuals may rep.esent a strategy to offset starvation risk. These findings add to the bodyof evidence that animal p.rsonality can shap. social organization, individual p.rformance, andgroup.success.

Brain derived neurotrop.ic factor (BDNF) levels and signaling via the tyrosine recep.or kinase B (TrkB) have been shown to be altered in Alzheimer’s Disease. In addition, it has been rep.rted that the isoforms of TrkB can differentially affect metabolism of amyloid p.ecursor p.otein (Ap.). Conversely, Ab, a neurotoxic cleavage p.oduct of Ap., has been shown to imp.ir TrkB/ BDNF signaling. Therefore, we investigated whether the changes observed in Ap. metabolism were due to the isoform-sp.cific effects of TrkB on either Ap. exp.ession, and/or on the exp.ession and activity of ADAM10 and BACE1. Since BDNF levels are decreased in AD, we focused on BDNF indep.ndent effects of the TrkB isoforms. We found that TrkB FL increases endogenous Ap. levels in both HEK293 and SH-SY5Y naive cells. We did not find an increase in ADAM10 activity in HEK293 cells, but an increase in BACE1 levels. Additionally, we have found that TrkB FL is able to increase NFAT3 mediated transcrip.ional activity and we suggest that this causes transcrip.ional activation of the BACE1 p.omoter.

Measurement of p.ysical activity is challenging,and objective and subjective methods can be *** p.rp.ses of this study were to ap.ly structural equation modeling in:1)examining the associations between three distinct measures of p.ysical activity and three factors that are often found to be correlated to p.ysical activity in chil-dren,and 2)examining the associations of the combination of three measures with the same correlates in a cohort of youth followed from 5th to 7th grade.A total of 409 children(45%boys)had comp.ete p.ysical activity data derived from accelerometers,self-rep.rt by youth,and p.oxy-rep.rt by *** p.tential correlates of p.ysical activity included self-efficacy,p.ysical activity sup.ort,and facilities for p.ysical *** equation models were used to assess the relationship.between p.ysical activity and the *** structural equation models examining associations between individual measures of p.ysical activity and selected correlates showed that p.rent-rep.rted and child self-rep.rted p.ysical activity were associated with p.rental sup.ort for p.ysical activity and *** measured p.ysical activity was associated only with facilities for p.ysical activity.A structural equation model showed that a comp.site exp.ession of p.ysical activity,based on the inclusion of all three individual measures,was associated with all three correlates of p.ysical *** conclusion,combining measures of p.ysical activity from different sources may imp.ove the identification of correlates of p.ysical *** information could be used to p.an more effective p.ysical activity in-terventions in children and youth.
