Fertilizers industry faces the challenge of improving the efficiency of its products either by optimizing the fertilizers in use or by developing new types of *** the last decade,controlled and slow release technologies have become more *** technologies aim to increase the efficiency of the applied substance by increasing its action over time and avoiding losses of all kinds(leaching,volatilization).The main purpose of the current study was to obtain a slow release biofertilizer by incorporating microalgae into a polymeric urea-formaldehyde matrix(PUFm).The quantitative analysis of macronutrients and micronutrients in the microalgae was determined using different techniques including titration,UV and Atomic Adsorption *** matrix and the formulation obtained(PUFm+CHLO)were also characterized by Infrared Spectroscopy(FTIR)and Scanning Electron microscopy(SEm).The“in vitro”study showed a typical slow release behavior of nitrogen(N),phosphorus(P)and potassium(K)*** was also shown that(PUFm+CHLO)formulation has the slowest macronutrients release time with a maximum release of 28%,26%y 46%for(N-P-K)macronutrients respectively during a period of 30 ***"in vivo"study exposed the benefits of the biofertilizer formulation(PUFm+CHLO)from conventional commercial fertilizer(CF)(NPK-14-5-12).Due to the presence of nutrients of natural origin in microalgae,(PUFm+CHLO)shows ecological effects which could also developing sustainable agriculture systems.

Importance of dementia and Alzheimer's disease(AD): On Earth, there is a "country" that we call Dementia with around 50 million inhabitants and an estimated global economic cost of US $1 trillion(Wimo et al., 2017).AD may contribute to 60–70% of cases, with other major forms of dementia being vascular dementia, dementia with Lewy bodies and a group of diseases that contribute to frontotemporal ***, the boundaries between different forms of dementia are indistinct and mixed forms often co-exist, which are only confirmed after postmortem neuropathological studies(Fernandez-Vega et al., 2015).

Objective Anaemia is associated with higher mortality among patients with non-stroke cardiovascular conditions;less is known regarding the relationship between anaemia and mortality among patients with acute ischaemic *** medical records were abstracted for n=3965 veterans from 131 Veterans Health Administration facilities who were admitted with ischaemic stroke in fiscal year *** values within 24 hours of admission were classified as≤27%,28%-32%,33%-37%,38%-42%,43%-47% or≥48%.multivariate logistic regression was used to examine the relationship between anaemia and in-hospital,30-day,6-month and 1-year mortality,adjusting for age,medical comorbidities,modified Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation-III and stroke *** factors were calculated to standardise comparisons between haematocrit tier and other *** Among n=3750 patients included in the analysis,the haematocrit values were≤27%in 2.1%(n=78),28%-32% in 6.2%(n=234),33%-37%in 17.9%(n=670),38%-42% in 36.4%(n=1366),43%-47% in 28.2%(n=1059)and≥48% in 9.1%(n=343).Patients with haematocrit≤27%,compared with patients in the 38%-42% range,were more likely to have died across all follow-up intervals,with statistically significant adjusted ORs(aORs)ranging from 2.5 to *** with polycythaemia(ie,haematocrit≥48%)were at increased risk of in-hospital mortality(aOR=2.9;95%CI 1.4 to 6.0),compared with patients with mid-range admission *** differences between patients receiving and not receiving blood transfusion limited our ability to perform a propensity *** factors in the 1-year mortality model were 0.46(severe anaemia),0.06(cancer)and 0.018(heart disease).Conclusions Anaemia is independently associated with an increased risk of death throughout the first year post stroke;high haematocrit is associated with early poststroke *** anaemia is associated with 1-year mortality to a greater degree than cancer or heart dise

Glia and hemichannels: key mediators of perinatal encephalopathy

Perinatal encephalopathy remains a major cause of disability, such as cerebral palsy. Therapeutic hypo- thermia is now well established to partially reduce risk of disability in late preterm/term infants. However, new and complementary therapeutic targets are needed to further improve outcomes. There is increasing evidence that glia play a key role in neural damage after hypoxia-ischemia and infection/inflammation. In this review, we discuss the role of astrocytic gap junction （connexin） hemichannels in the spread of neural injury after hypoxia-ischemia and/or infection/inflammation. Potential mechanisms of hemichannel medi- ated injury likely involve impaired intraceUular calcium handling, loss of blood-brain barrier integrity and release of adenosine triphosphate （ATP） resulting in over-activation of purinergic receptors. We propose the hypothesis that inflammation-induced opening of connexin hemichannels is a key regulating event that initiates a vicious cycle of excessive ATP release, which in turn propagates activation of purinergic receptors on microglia and astrocytes. This suggests that developing new neuroprotective strategies for preterm infants will benefit from a detailed understanding of glial and connexin hemichannel responses.

Building geometry data from online maps for accurate thermal simulations of districts

Current approaches for simulating the energy performance of buildings on a large scale are limited by numerous assumptions and simplifications,which can lead to inaccurate *** new tools and procedures are emerging to improve accuracy,there remains a need for more user-friendly *** study proposes a new tool based on online maps to create the geometry of districts in a simple *** tool also enables an automatic evaluation of all buildings through dynamic hourly simulations,using a building simulation software and allowing to consider different weather *** illustrate the procedure,a district at risk of energy poverty in Seville(Spain)is modeled,where hourly temperature data for a whole year are available to demonstrate the need for building *** tool is used to evaluate the energy demands of the district under several retrofitting alternatives,and free-floating simulations are also performed to evaluate the improvement of thermal comfort without air-conditioning *** aim is not to discuss the actual values for this particular case,but rather to identify the correct direction for large-scale studies,so as to make them more easily ***,it may be concluded that the results provided by comprehensive tools,such as the one proposed in this study,enable easy yet accurate evaluations of buildings on a large scale with significant time savings,as well as the identification of locations where retrofitting interventions would have the greatest impact.

New insights for the catalytic oxidation of cyclohexane to K-A oil

Au-based catalysts have been reported to be active in the cyclohexane oxidation to K-A oil, but they showed some limitiations in terms of productivity, selectivity and required reaction conditions. The possibility to overcome some of these limits has been explored coupling Au with Cu, which can be suitable for undergoing the electron-switch in the initial step of the cyclohexane oxidation. Hence, a bimetallic 2 wt% Au Cu/Al_(2)O_(3) catalyst was tested in the oxidation of cyclohexane, working at mild conditions of 120 ℃ and 4 bar of O_(2). The combination of the catalyst with a very small amount of benzaldehyde used as cheaper and non-toxic radical initiator allowed to obtain a very high productivity of cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone(45 mmol*m L/mgmet*h) with a selectivity of 94%. moreover, comparing the catalysed reaction with the non-catalysed one, the role of the catalyst has been disclosed.

methane oxidation and attenuation of sulphur compounds in landfill top cover systems: Lab-scale tests

In this study,a top cover system is investigated as a control for emissions during the aftercare of new landfills and for old landfills where biogas energy production might not be *** materials were studied as landfill cover system in lab-scale columns：mechanical–biological pretreated municipal solid waste（mBP）;mechanical–biological pretreated biowaste（PB）;fine（PBSf）and coarse（PBSc）mechanical–biological pretreated mixtures of biowaste and sewage sludge,and natural soil（NS）.The effectiveness of these materials in removing methane and sulphur compounds from a gas stream was tested,even coupled with activated carbon *** of CO2,CH4,O2,N2,H2S and mercaptans were analysed at different depths along the *** degradation was assessed using mass balance and the results were expressed in terms of methane oxidation rate（mOR）.The highest maximum and mean mOR were observed for mBP（17.2 g CH4/m^2/hr and 10.3 g CH4/m^2/hr,respectively）.Similar values were obtained with PB and *** lowest values of mOR were obtained for NS（6.7 g CH4/m^2/hr）and PBSf（3.6 g CH4/m^2/hr）,which may be due to their low organic content and void index,*** membranes with high load capacity did not seem to have an influence on the methane oxidation process：mBP coupled with 220 g/m^2and 360 g/m^2membranes gave maximum mOR of 16.5 g CH4/m^2/hr and 17.4 g CH4/m^2/hr,*** carbon membranes proved to be very effective on H2S ***,carbonyl sulphide,ethyl mercaptan and isopropyl mercaptan seemed to be easily absorbed by the filling materials.

Evaluation of the Ex-PRESS~ P-50 implant under scleral flap in combined cataract and glaucoma surgery

AIm： To evaluate the efficacy and safety of glaucoma drainage device Ex-PRESS~ P-50 for combined cataract surgery and glaucoma.·mETHODS： Patients having cataract and open angle glaucoma or patients with open advanced glaucoma which needed two or more antiglaucoma medications were included. Combined cataract surgery and glaucoma with Ex-PRESS~ P-50 model placed under scleral flap was performed.·RESULTS： Out of 40 eyes of 40 patients（55% male and45% female） completed the study during one-year follow-up. The mean of age was 76.6 ±11.02 y. The intraocular pressure（IOP） decreased significantly during the 12-month follow-up from 23.5 mm Hg to 16.8 mm Hg（Wilcoxon signed ranks test, P 〈0.001）. A 59.5% of patients did not need any topical treatment, 10.8% of them needed one active principle, 27% needed two active principles, and 2.7% of them needed three active principles for successful IOP control（〈21 mm Hg）.·CONCLUSION：Combinedsurgeryofphacoemulsification with Ex PRESS~ P-50 lowers IOP from the preoperative baseline and reduces significantly the number of antiglaucoma active principles for IOP control after the operation.
