Traumatic injuries to the central nervous system,such as traumatic brain injury,spinal cord injury and stroke,have a high prevalence,enormous financial costs and lack clinical treatments that restore neurological function（Ma et al.,2014）These injuries trigger a series of secondary biochemical and cellular responses that ultimately lead to cellular death and themaintenance of an unsupportive extracellular matrix （ECM） for tissue regeneration （Silva et al., 2014）. Artificial ECM or scaf- folds represent a way to alter this unsupportive environment to improve the efficacy of stem cell therapies and enhance neural tissue regeneration （Figure 1）.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) is the most common cause of chronic liver disease in the industrialized world. The prevalence of NAFLD is increasing, becoming a substantial public health burden. NAFLD includes a broad spectrum of disorders, from simple conditions such as steatosis to severe manifestations such as fibrosis and cirrhosis. The relationship ofNAFLD with metabolic alterations such as type 2 diabetes is well described and related to insulin resistance, with NAFLD being recognized as the hepatic manifestation of metabolic syndrome. However, NAFLD may also coincide with endocrine diseases such as polycystic ovary syndrome, hypothyroidism, growth hormone deficiency or hypercortisolism. It is therefore essential to remember, when discovering altered liver enzymes or hepatic steatosis on radiological exams, that endocrine diseases can cause NAFLD. Indeed, the overall prognosis of NAFLD may be modified by treatment of the underlying endocrine pathology. In this review, we will discuss endocrine diseases that can cause NALFD. Underlying pathophysiological mechanisms will be presented and specific treatments will be reviewed.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) is emerging as one of the most common liver diseases,leading to the increasing interest for new therapeutic approaches for its *** primarily depends on a hypercaloric and/or unbalanced diet leading to overweight and *** liver,in fact,plays a central role in lipid metabolism by importing free fatty acids from the blood and synthesizing,storing,oxidizing and exporting ***,the liver is the target for the thyroid hormones,thyroxine(T4) and 3,3',5-triiodo-L-thyronine(T3),that stimulate the basal metabolic rate and lead to body weight *** the last decade,other iodothyronines have been shown to possess biological relevance and play some thyromimetic activities; in particular,3,5-diiodo-L-thyronine(T2) gained large *** global effect of iodothyronines on liver lipid metabolism results from the balance between direct and indirect actions on the hepatocyte,leading to stimulation of lipid synthesis,oxidation and *** this review,the results so far obtained on both in vivo and in vitro models of hepatosteatosis are summarized in order to obtain an updated picture of the lipid-lowering effects of iodothyronines on mammalian liver.

Alice Notley’s Culture of On e(2011)is a“poet’s novel”about a woman who lives in the dump of a *** desert *** female character who“inhabits”the dump-and this poet’s novel-is both metonym for and guide into the lost representation of“the abject,”a concept developed by Julia Kristeva as a psychic state of horror and response to that which lies outside culturally“normalized”subjects and objects,and our“desire for meaning.”Utilizing her dump refuse for its materials,the main character,Marie,creates her own“culture of one,”standing as figure for the artist/writer plunging not“meaning”but meaninglessness and its abject association with death,which is prefigured as the unclean,the improper,rejected body parts,deviant“non-existent”personae-and,ultimately,Marie’s figural status as marginal inhabitant/“culture remaker”/older woman/multi-media“poet”*** traditional conventions of novelistic character development,plot,and visual description,Notley’s“poet’s novel”formally engages in what Viktor Shkolvsky,in his well-known essay“Art as Technique,”terms“defamiliarization”or“strangeness”(“ostranenie,”in Russian),including those principles he cites of“deceleration”and“deviation of the norm.”Notley’s work twists the binary logic implied in Shkolvsky’s“deviation”versus“norm”further by revealing abjection’s“strangeness”in the poet’s novel itself as form,”a text that is always becoming its own site of the linguistic abject,never codifying identity,or the interpreted known.

Although the construction of block pavements has grown fast in the last decades,there is still a need for simple tools that could be applied to design *** paper analyzed and verified concrete block pavements for urban and local roads composed of rectangular concrete pavers with plane side surfaces(no interlocking effect).The examined blocks were laid on a bedding sand layer,a cement treated base layer and a granular unbound foundation *** commercial finite element(FE)software ANSYS?was used to calculate the response of the pavement when subjected to different loading,construction *** wheel positions,five blocks patterns,three bedding sand thicknesses and joints gaps have been considered to evaluate stress-strain condition on pavement *** and rutting verification was performed respectively for bound and unbound pavement materials using analytical curves available in the *** the end of this study,a proposal for a catalogue is *** has nine pavement sets,because it takes into account three values of subgrade capacity(30,90,and 150 MPa of resilient modulus)and three levels of traffic(400,000,1,500,000,and 4,000,000 passages of commercial vehicles during the service life).The obtained results provide an inexpensive procedure for the preliminary design of concrete block pavements.

AIM: To asses the value of computed tomography (CT)-perfusion in the detection of residual hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) vascularization after transarterial chemoembolization (TACE). METHODS: Thirty-two consecutive patients were pro-spectively included in this study. All patients had liver cirrhosis and a conf irmed HCC lesion which was treated with TACE. One month after treatment, perfusion measurements of treated lesions were carried out. The CTperfusion (CT-p) protocol was performed with 16 slice multidetector computed tomography which included the following parameters: 8 dynamic slices/scan per 40 scans after iv injection of 50 mL of iodinated contrast (350 mg/mL) at a flow rate of 6 mL/s. Treated lesions were evaluated using dedicated perfusion software, which generated a quantitative colour map of perfusion. The following parameters were considered: hepatic perfusion (HP), arterial perfusion (AP), blood volume (BV), hepatic perfusion index (HPI), and time to peak (TTP). Perfusion parameters were described with quartile values of their distribution and statistically analyzed. RESULTS: Perfusion parameters of the treated lesions could be quantitatively assessed using CT-p analysis. The presence of residual tumor tissue was observed in 13 of the 32 patients. The values of the perfusion parameters measured within the relapse tissue were: HP (mL/100 g per minute): median = 44.4 (1stqt = 31.3, 3rdqt = 55.8); BV (mL/100 g): median = 18.7 (1stqt = 11.5, 3rdqt = 22.5); AP (mL/min): median = 39.0 (1stqt = 36.5, 3rdqt = 61.3); HPI (%): median = 34.0 (1stqt = 30.4, 3rdqt = 38.9); TTP (s): median = 17.3 (1stqt = 15.8, 3rdqt = 26.5). With the use of the univariate paired Wilcoxon signed rank test, HP, AP and HPI were shown to be significantly higher (P<0.001) in the relapse site than in the primary lesion. The BV and TTP parameters showed a tendency to be greater and lower, respectively, in the relapse site than in the primary lesion. CONCLUSION: In patients with HCC treat
