The Intergovernmental panel on Climate Change(IpCC)recognises the pivotal role of renewable energies in the future energy system and the achievement of the zero-emission *** implementation of renewables should provide major opportunities and enable a more secure and decentralised energy supply *** fuels provide long-term solutions for the transport sector,particularly for applications where fuels with high energy density are *** addition,it helps reducing the carbon footprint of these sectors in the *** on biomass characteristics feedstock is essential for scaling-up gasification from the laboratory to *** review deals with the transformation biogenic residues into a valuable bioenergy carrier like biomethanol as the liquid sunshine based on the combination of modified mature technologies such as gasification with other innovative solutions such as membranes and microchannel *** abatement is a critical process in product gas upgrading since tars compromise downstream processes and equipment,for this,membrane technology for upgrading syngas quality is discussed in this *** reactor technology with the design of state-of-the-art multifunctional catalysts provides a path to develop decentralised biomethanol synthesis from biogenic ***,the development of a process chain for the production of(i)methanol as an intermediate energy carrier,(ii)electricity and(iii)heat for decentralised applications based on biomass feedstock flexible gasification,gas upgrading and methanol synthesis is analysed.

Fe-based catalysts are efficient systems for CO_(2)conversion via reverse water-gas shift(rWGS)***,the nature of the active phase,namely metallic iron,iron oxide or iron carbide remains a subject of debate which our paper is meant to ***0 is a much better catalyst for the rWGS than Fe_(3)*** activity of Fe0 can be promoted by the addition of Cs and Cu whose presence hinders iron carburisation while favouring both higher conversion and enhanced *** the samples are aged in the rWGS reaction mixture during stability test a new phase appear:Fe_(5)C_(2),resulting in a more active but less selective catalysts than Fe0 for the rWGS *** our results indicate that we could potentially achieve an optimal activity/selective balance upon finely tuning the proportion Fe/Fe_(5)C_(2).Beyond the fundamental information concerning active phase we have observed the presence of advanced Fischer-Tropsch-like products at ambient pressure opening new opportunities for the design of hybrid rWGS/Fischer-Tropsch systems.

"H_(2)-free" HDO is a revolutionary route to circumvent the limitations of H_(2)-fed HDO reactors for biomass *** work demonstrates the viability of this economically appealing route when an adequate catalyst is ***,we have developed a new family of pt catalysts supported on N-doped activated carbons for the H_(2)-free HDO process of *** N-donors have been used to tune the catalyst’s structural and electronic *** a general trend,the N-promoted samples are more selective towards oxygen-depleted *** best performing material,namely pt/pANI-AC reached outstanding guaiacol conversion values-ca.75% at 300℃ while displaying reasonable stability for multiple recycling *** advanced performance is ascribed to the modified electronic and acid-base properties which favor guaiacol activation and C-O cleavage,as well as the excellent dispersion of the pt nano particles.

A Novel Approach to Measure the Total Antioxidant power of Wines through Near Infrared Spectroscopy and Its Relevance in Human Nutrition

Wine is the product of the alcoholic fermentation of the grape (Vitis vinifera). As such, it is a hydroalcoholic solution with a variable content of nutritional and functional (polyphenols) molecules, the latter involved in its antioxidant potential. The organoleptic variables of wine, together with its potential positive effects on health of a light-moderate intake, have always been topics of great interest within the cultures. In the label of wine, alcohol is the only declared variable. On the other hand, there is no information about the content of “positive” molecules, such as those associated with the antioxidant power. This value could be very important to classify the wines, helping oenologist and nutritionist in qualifying them as a component of Mediterranean diet. Moreover, one of the most critical aspects in evaluating the role of wine in human health through epidemiological prospective studies is the quality of the products used and their antioxidant potential. This research aimed to optimize and validate an analytical approach based on a portable device (SCIO?), using NIRS (near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy). It allows the measure of TAp (total antioxidant power) of wine through the glass. Research findings are promising. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time that an easy-to-use and cheap hand-held scanner is validated to measure the TAp of a beverage.
