Introduction: Renal transplant artery stenosis (RTAS) is a common and early complication of renal transplantation, which can lead to severe post-transplant hypertension, as well as significant morbidity and mortality, particulary graft loss. The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence, clinico-radiological characteristics and evaluate the outcomes of luminal angioplasty as a first-line treatment for RTAS, through the analysis of medical records of 27 kidney transplant patients. Material and Methods: This is a retrospective, single-center, and descriptive study conducted at the Nephrology department of the Ibn-Sina Hospital in Rabat, including 27 renal transplant patients with RTAS during the period from 1998 to 2023. All patients with clinically suspected RTAS and confirmed by Doppler ultrasound of the transplanted renal artery were included in the study. Results: The mean age of donors was 48.66 ± 13.55 years, with a female predominance (65%). The donor was deceased in 15% of cases. The mean age of the recipients was 39 ± 16 years with a male-to-female ratio of 4.4. The median onset of RTAS was 3.6 ± 3.4 months after renal transplantation. Seven patients (26%) had high blood pressure (HBP) before their transplantation. Six patients (22%) had hypertriglyceridemia and 7 patients (26%) had pure hypercholesterolemia. The main clinical signs were worsening of preexisting HBP, de novo HBP and acute renal failure (ARF). Stenosis was confirmed by renal Doppler ultrasound in all patients. It was severe in 63%, with a stenosis degree greater than 70%. Six patients underwent angioplasty, resulting in the stabilization of graft function with a nadir of 15 mg/l creatinine and blood pressure control with dual therapy in 5 patients. No graft loss cases were noted. Conclusion: RTAS is a significant vascular complication of renal transplantation that predicts unfavorable outcomes for both the patient and the graft. The Current Conservation Efforts and Future Prospects for the Endangered Nubian Ibex (Capra nubiana ibex) in Sudan

A comprehensive action plan for the conservation of the endangered species, the Nubian ibex in Sudan, can be developed by gaining a thorough understanding of their current status, conservation strategy, and relevant laws and regulations, as well as raising awareness about the importance of protecting endangered species. The Nubian ibex is listed as an endangered species on The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List, highlighting the need for further research on population conservation efforts due to insufficient population data. To address this knowledge gap, a questionnaire was conducted with various stakeholders, including police officers, researchers, and lecturers, representing a diverse range of organizations and universities. The findings revealed that hunting is the primary factor contributing to endangerment. Mammals account for 80% of endangered species, while reptiles comprise less than one-tenth. Research centers are recognized as the main governing body, and 85% of participants are concerned about the declining population. Hunting accounted for less than half of the threats to the ibex population in Sudan, while habitat loss made up a quarter. Mining, climate change, human activity, and agriculture were also identified as risks. However, there were no plans, strategies, procedures, or measures in place to conserve the Nubian ibex. There were also no initiatives to preserve its biodiversity, and awareness about endangered species was lacking. Although participants believed that laws were effective in protecting the ibex, no licenses were issued for its conservation, and annual surveys were not conducted. Additionally, there were no recorded instances of Mukhalfat related to the Nubian ibex. In light of these findings, we propose various conservation measures to address these challenges. Background: Serum albumin, a vital plasma protein, helps maintain intravascular colloidal osmotic pressure, cardiac output, and renal function. Low preoperative serum albumin is linked to poor outcomes, including acute kidney injury (AKI), after off-pump coronary artery bypass (OPCAB) surgery. This study aimed to assess the relationship between preoperative serum albumin levels and early postoperative renal injury. Methods: This prospective comparative cross-sectional study was conducted from August 2019 to February 2021 at the National Heart Foundation Hospital & Research Institute, Bangladesh. It included 160 adult patients with normal preoperative renal function undergoing OPCAB. Patients were divided into two groups: Group A (serum albumin ≥ 4.0 gm/dl) and Group B (serum albumin Results: Preoperative serum albumin was significantly different between groups (Group A: 4.21 ± 0.05 gm/dl, Group B: 3.69 ± 0.04 gm/dl, p = 0.028). Group B had a higher incidence of hypertension (71.25% vs. 51.25%, p st and 3rd postoperative days were higher in Group B (p th day. Postoperative AKI occurred in 18.75% of Group A and 36.25% of Group B. Multivariate regression indicated that low preoperative serum albumin is an independent risk factor for postoperative AKI (p = 0.012, OR = 1.815, CI: 0.675 - 1.162). Conclusion: Preoperative serum albumin level is a valuable predictor of postoperative renal function. Ensuring high normal serum albumin levels before surgery can help minimize the risk of postoperative AKI.

Mine waste and process tailings storage is one of important challenge for which mining operations are increasingly confronted. Treatment discharges of plants and main part of waste rock development are generally stored on surface areas. The volume and chemical characteristics of these materials generate serious problem for required storage spaces and mainly environmental degradation. Paste backfill(PBF) is one of ingenious solutions to minimize the quantity of tailings to store. PBF is basically defined as a combination of mine processing tailings, binder, and water mixing. The purpose of this paper is to present backfilling components characterization and formula verification for a waste valorization solution through paste backfilling technology in Imiter operation. Obtained results and realized analysis demonstrate PBF conformity and adequacy with assigned underground functions. However the studied recipe can be more ameliorated to obtain an optimal mixture ensuring the required mechanical strength.
