Controlling Li ion transport in glasses at atomic and molecular levels is key to realizing all-solid-state batteries,a promising technology for electric *** this context,Li_(3)PS_(4)glass,a promising solid electrolyte candidate,exhibits dynamic coupling between the Li^(+)cation mobility and the PS_(4)^(3-)anion libration,which is commonly referred to as the paddlewheel *** addition,it exhibits a concerted cation diffusion effect(i.e.,a cation-cation interaction),which is regarded as the essence of high Li ion ***,the correlation between the Li^(+)ions within the glass structure can only be vaguely determined,due to the limited experimental information that can be ***,this study reports that the Li ions present in glasses can be classified by evaluating their valence oscillations via Bader analysis to topologically analyze the chemical *** is found that three types of Li ions are present in Li_(3)PS_(4)glass,and that the more mobile Li ions(i.e.,the Li3-type ions)exhibit a characteristic correlation at relatively long distances of ***,reverse Monte Carlo simulations combined with deep learning potentials that reproduce X-ray,neutron,and electron diffraction pair distribution functions showed an increase in the number of Li3-type ions for partially crystallized glass structures with improved Li ion transport *** results show order within the disorder of the Li ion distribution in the glass by a topological analysis of their ***,considering the molecular vibrations in the glass during the evaluation of the Li ion valences is expected to lead to the development of new solid electrolytes.

Dehydration of isopropanol applying batch heteroazeotropic distillation with toluene as entrainer (E) is investigated. The composition of the feed is near to that of the isopropanol (A)-water (B) azeotrope. The effects of recycling the entrainer and the off-cut are studied by dynamic simulation with a professional flow-sheet simulator. Three consecutive batches (one production cycle) is studied. Both operational modes (Mode I: decantation after distillation and Mode II: decantation during distillation) are simulated. For Mode II, calculations are performed both for Strategy A (distillate from the aqueous (E-lean) phase only) and Strategy B (partial withdrawal of the organic (E-rich phase), as well). The E-rich phase, the final column hold-up and the off-cut (Mode II only) are recycled to the next batch. The influence of the following parameters are determined: quantity of entrainer, reflux ratios of the steps. The variations caused by the recycling in the 2nd and 3rd batches are also shown. The best results (lowest specific energy demand and highest recovery of A) are obtained by Mode II, Strategy A. Recycling increases the recovery, and drastically diminishes the entrainer consumption. However, it makes the production slower and decreases the quantity of fresh feed that can be processed.

The risk of colorectal cancer for any patient with ulcer-ative colitis is known to be elevated, and is estimated to be 2% after 10 years, 8% after 20 years and 18% after 30 years of disease. Risk factors for cancer in-clude extent and duration of ulcerative colitis, primary sclerosing cholangitis, a family history of sporadic colorectal cancer, severity of histologic bowel inflam-mation, and in some studies, young age at onset of colitis. In this review, the authors discuss recent epide-miological trends and causes for the observed chang-es. Population-based studies published within the past 5 years suggest that this risk has decreased over time, despite the low frequency of colectomies. The crude annual incidence rate of colorectal cancer in ulcerative colitis ranges from approximately 0.06% to 0.16% with a relative risk of 1.0-2.75. The exact mechanism for this change is unknown; it may partly be explained by the more widespread use of maintenance therapy and surveillance colonoscopy.

Inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD)are chronic diseases with a relapsing-remitting disease course necessitating lifelong ***,non-adherence has been reported in over 40%of patients,especially those in remission taking maintenance therapies for IBD. The economical impact of non-adherence to medical therapy including absenteeism,hospitalization risk, and the health care costs in chronic conditions,is *** causes of medication non-adherence are complex,where the patient-doctor relationship, treatment regimen,and other disease-related factors play key ***,subjective assessment might underestimate *** adherence may result in more frequent relapses,a disabling disease course, in ulcerative colitis,and an increased risk for colorectal *** medication adherence in patients is an important challenge for *** the different patient types,the reasons given by patients for non-adherence,simpler and more convenient dosage regimens,dynamic communication within the health care team,a self-management package incorporating enhanced patient education and physician-patient interaction,and identifying the predictors of nonadherence will help devise suitable plans to optimize patient *** editorial summarizes the available literature on frequency,predictors,clinical consequences,and strategies for improving medical adherence in patients with IBD.

Smoking is an important environmental factor in inflammatory bowel disease （IBD）, having different effects in ulcerative colitis （UC） and Crohn＇s disease （CD）. A recent meta-analysis partially confirmed previous findings that smoking was found to be protective against ulcerative colitis and, after onset of the disease, might improve its course, decreasing the need for colectomy. However, smoking increases the risk of developing Crohn＇s disease and worsens its course, increasing the need for steroids, immunosuppressants and re-operations. Smoking cessation aggravates ulcerative colitis and improves Crohn＇s disease. Data are however, largely conflictive as well as the potential mechanisms involved in this dual relationship are still unknown. In this review article, the authors review the role of smoking in inflammatory bowel diseases.
