Species composition and abundance of dinoflagellates from the coastal waters of Pakistan

Objective:To assess the community structure,seasonal dynamics of dinoflagellates population with environmental conditions in the nutrient-rich and polluted coastal waters off,***:Sampling sites were located from karachi harbour(Station A)and Mouth of Manora Channel(Station B).Total 180 replicate samples were collected at 1-m depth through Niskin bottle sampler(1.7 L)and fixed with 2%lugol’s preservative then examined under light inverted microscopy,scanning electron and epiflourescence ***:The environmental conditions,such as temperature[(20-27)°C],salinity[(35-40)psu],chlorophyll a[(1-103)μg/L],pH(6.03-8.13)and dissolve oxygen[(0.7-5.5)mg/L]were recorded from both stations.A total of 96 species were identified into potential harmful toxic/non-toxic bloom forming species and cysts *** dinoflagellate cells between two coastal sites were much concentrated at the adjacent area of mouth of Manora Channel compare to harbor *** dinoflagellate cell concentration ranging from 20 to~55000 cells/L and the maximum values observed in two season,(~55000 cells/L)in autumn and(~3000 cells/L)in winter *** *** the predominant taxa with the maximum abundance(48166 cells/L)observed in autumn season following by Scrippsiella trochoidea(1200 cells/L),alexandrium ostenfeldii(3000 cells/L)in winter season,and Ceratium furca(640 cells/L),Protoperidinium steinii(780 cells/L),Ceratium fusus(906 cells/L),Pyrophacus steinii(840 cells/L),Gonyaulax spinifera(666 cells/L),alexandrium tamarense(520 cells/L)and Dinophysis caudata(393 cells/L)in summer and spring ***,abundance of dinoflagellates correlated significant to chlorophyll a with chlorophyll a and temperature but inverse relation to salinity and pH observed from both ***:The present study reports on the prevalence and significance of harmful algae bloom forming taxa in the area which would be available for the coastal zone managers and fishery indust

西南早寒武世牛蹄塘组是分布在中国南方扬子地台的一套黑色岩系,区域上发育有典型富集多金属元素的硫化物矿化层。选取遵义松林小竹牛蹄塘组下部富硒、钼、镍等元素的黑色岩系剖面,利用Se同位素初步探讨了该剖面岩石的沉积环境和硒的可能来源。结果表明,小竹牛蹄塘组下部剖面黑色岩系的δ82/76SeSRM3149比值变化较大,下部底层含碳斑脱岩与磷块岩的变化范围在-4.35‰^+4.11‰之间;中间镍钼层及碳质页岩、碳质碳酸盐岩的δ82/76SeSRM3149变化范围窄,平均值为0.91‰±0.23‰(n=4);上层碳质页岩为-1.24‰。结合已发表的钼同位素数据,认为中间岩石沉积于缺氧/无氧环境,但存在盆地海水与热液或充氧水团的混合;下层的岩石曾一度位于充氧与贫氧环境的边界面,局部岩石曾暴露地表经历了较强的风化和蚀变作用,海水中硒有可能来自底部富硒斑脱岩的氧化淋滤或海底热液。据此推测遵义松林小竹牛蹄塘组下部岩石的沉积环境极可能处在局限盆地靠近陆地的边缘部分,经历了充氧→贫氧→缺氧/无氧→贫氧的演化阶段。

为确定复合射孔枪枪身材料32CrMo4钢在井下高温、高加载率工作环境下的动态性能,利用MTS试验机和分离式Hopkinson冲击压杆装置做了应变率为0.001、1000和3000/s,温度为294、373、473和573k的单轴动态压缩试验,得到32CrMo4钢各组温度及应变率下的流动应力-应变曲线。拟合得到该钢johnson-Cook本构关系模型所需的5个参数,模型拟合曲线与试验曲线吻合。

Use of Evapotranspiration (et) Landfill Covers to Reduce Methane Emissions from Municipal Solid Waste Landfills

Solid waste landfills need to have final covers to 1) reduce the infiltration of rainfall into the waste mass and 2) reduce surface greenhouse gas emissions. Most regulations require that such final covers include hydraulic barriers, such as compacted clays with or without geomembrane. Significant research has been undertaken to allow the use of evapotranspiration-based covers (often termed: Evapotranspiration (et) Cover, Water Balance Covers, or Phyto Covers) as an alternative to the barrier concept covers. et covers are designed so that they have the capacity to store water by the soil and also have plants or vegetation to remove the stored water. In et covers, plant roots can enhance the aeration of soil by creating secondary macropores which improve the diffusion of oxygen into soil. Therefore, biological methane oxidation (a natural process in landfill soils) can be improved considerably by the soil structuring processes of vegetation, along with the increase of organic biomass in the soil associated with plant roots. This paper summarizes a study to investigate the capacity of an et cover to reduce surface greenhouse gas emissions when implemented on a solid waste landfill. This study consisted of using a numerical model to estimate methane emission and oxidation through an et cover under average climatic conditions in Bennignton, Nebraska, USA. Different simulations were performed using different methane loading flux (5 to 200 gm-2·d-1) as the bottom boundary. For all simulations, surface emissions were the lowest during the growing season and during warmer days of the year. Percent oxidation is the highest during the growing season and during warmer days. The lowest modeled surface emissions were always obtained during the growing season. Finally, correlations between percent oxidation and methane loading into simulated et covers were proposed to estimate methane emissions and methane oxidation in et covers.

all synthetic and natural estrogen receptor agonists, in- cluding the most potent physiological molecule estrogen or estradiol （E2）, work typically via activation of nuclear estrogen receptor alpha （ERα） and estrogen receptor beta （ERβ）. Both ERα and ERβ modulate the expression of a variety of genes in the cells. Neurons and glial cells express ERa and ERβ. Many studies so far from our and other laboratories have firmly established the mode of actions that ERα and ERβ agonists are very promising anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective agents in the treatment of neurodegenera- rive diseases and injuries including spinal cord injury （SCI）（Chakrabarti et al., 2014a）.

In this paper, we investigated the structural, electronic and optical properties of InAs, InN and InP binary compounds and their related ternary and quaternary alloys by using the full potential linearized augmented plane wave（FP-LAPW）method based on density functional theory（DFT）. The total energies, the lattice parameters, and the bulk modulus and its first pressure derivative were calculated using different exchange correlation approximations. The local density approach（LDA） and Tran–Blaha modified Becke–johnson（TB-m BJ） approximations were used to calculate the band *** variations of the lattice parameters, the bulk modulus and the band gap with compositions x and y are ***, the optical properties and the dielectric function, refractive index and loss energy were computed. Our results are in good agreement with the validated experimental and theoretical data found in the literature.

Introduction: Tobacco use and exposure to tobacco smoke are one of the most preventable causes of death and disability worldwide. The risk is even higher among daily tobacco consumers. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommended that surveillance of major risk factors for non- communicable diseases (NCDs), such as smoking, be imperative to predicting the future burden of NCDs, identifying adequate interventions to decrease future burden and monitor trends. In 2015, a survey on NCD risk factors was conducted in Benin to estimate the prevalence of major NCD risk factors. We analyzed the data from this survey to estimate the prevalence and risk factors associated with daily tobacco consumption in Benin. Methods: A nationwide representative sample of the population was constituted in the 12 departments of Benin. The WHO STEPS wise tool was used to collect data on behavioral and demographic characteristics, including daily tobacco consumption. Tobacco consumption was subdivided into three categories: The daily consumption of tobacco, the daily consumption of smoked tobacco and non-smoked tobacco. Multivariate analysis through the weighted logistic regression was used to identify potential factors associated with daily consumption of tobacco. Results: Over the 5.126 surveyed subjects, 7.49% were daily tobacco consumers, with 3.85% being daily users of smoked tobacco and 4.36% being daily consumers of non-smoked tobacco. Men were more likely to be daily consumers of tobacco compared to women (OR = 7.42;95%CI = [4.98;11.06]). Compared to respondents aged 18 to 24, those aged 45 to 54 were five times more likely to consume tobacco (OR = 5.58;95%IC = [2.71;11.47]). Respondents residing in the departments of Atacora, Couffo and Borgou were respectively 4.28 times, 3.93 times and 2.63 times more likely to consume tobacco compared to those residing in the department of alibori.
