Genetic Diversity and Structure of Tunisian Local Pear Germplasm as Revealed by SSR Markers

Growing pear has a long tradition in Tunisia, and numerous local cultivars possessing an excellent adaptability and resilience potential to climatic variation are present. This large adaptability is associated with an important genetic diversity, which is threatened to *** measures have to be taken in order to properly evaluate and conserve this local material. Microsatellite markers were used to assess the level of genetic diversity among Tunisian pear germplasm, and compare it with some European varieties and wild pear species. 61 pear accessions representing eight groups(six groups from Tunisia, one from Northern Europe and another group composed of wild pear) have been genotyped using SSR markers derived from apple and pear. The pear accessions showed a significant polymorphism and 95 polymorphic alleles were found. The number of alleles per locus varied from 5 for CH04e03 locus to 14 for CH01d09 locus with an average of 9.4 alleles per ***, the mean gene diversity(H_e) per locus ranged from 0.192 to 0.752. Genetic distance values and cluster analyses revealed high genetic similarities among the Tunisian groups. Factorial correspondence analysis(FCA) categorized the accessions into three independent groups where Tunisian local accessions agglomerated together distantly from European and wild pear accessions. Additionally, UPGMA dendrogram grouped accessions into two clusters, confirmed thereafter by the Bayesian model-based Structure analysis. The results showed 16 putative triploid accessions found in the local germplasm. This study provides valuable information to develop strategies of local pear conservation and use.

Molecular Characterisation Reveals the Existence of a Hybridogenous Intermediary Form between Sweet Watermelon and Cow Melon Forms of Watermelon

Watermelon research in Southern Africa, has predominantly observed the clear existence of the sweet watermelon and cow melon forms of watermelon, cultivated on farm and even some occurring in the wild. Molecular characterization of 48 watermelon accessions collected from National Genebank of Zimbabwe using 9 SSR markers generated a total of 49 putative alleles. The average number of alleles detected by each primer was 5.4. Analysis of molecular variance within and among accessions of watermelons revealed that only 39% of the total variation resides between these two groups (cow-melons and sweet watermelons), 24% between accession within groups and 37% within accessions. Multivariate analyses employed provide evidence of the existence of introgression between sweet water melons and cow melons, as reflected by some accessions of cow melons, clustering into a hybridogenous group. Most of watermelon accessions within the hybridogenous group [A (II)] were collected from drier communal areas, while those accessions within the cow melon group [A (I)] are mostly from research centers. The separation of cow melons into distinct groups could be indicative of a possible formation of an isolated evolutionary unit.

Change point detection becomes increasingly important because it can support data analysis by providing labels to the data in an unsupervised *** the context of process data analytics,change points in the time series of process variables may have an important indication about the process *** example,in a batch process,the change points can correspond to the operations and phases defined by the batch *** identifying change points can assist labelling the time series *** unsupervised algorithms have been developed for change point detection,including the optimisation approachwhich minimises a cost functionwith certain penalties to search for the change *** Bayesian approach is another,which uses Bayesian statistics to calculate the posterior probability of a specific sample being a change *** paper investigates how the two approaches for change point detection can be applied to process data *** addition,a new type of cost function using Tikhonov regularisation is proposed for the optimisation approach to reduce irrelevant change points caused by randomness in the *** novelty lies in using regularisation-based cost functions to handle ill-posed problems of noisy *** results demonstrate that change point detection is useful for process data analytics because change points can produce data segments corresponding to different operating modes or varying conditions,which will be useful for other machine learning tasks.

Some properties of the Fe-based P/M composites sintered and reinforced by infiltration with Cu-Sn alloy were *** is shown that the hardness of the sintered material is 2.5 times lower,tensile strength is 1.7 times lower and the wear resistance is 2.5-3.3 times lower in comparison with those of the infiltrated *** presence of pores on the friction surface of the sintered material affects the features of the wear *** to the specific morphology of copper in the infiltrated material,the phenomenon of selective mass transfer is observed and worn surfaces have a spongy-capillary texture.

A texture-modified dessert with high nutritional value designed for people with dysphagia:effect of refrigeration and frozen storage

Evolution of structure and physical properties in Al-substituted Ba-hexaferrites

The investigations of the crystal and magnetic structures of the BaFe12_xAlxO19 （x = 0.1-1.2） solid solutions have been performed with powder neutron diffractometry. Magnetic properties of the BaFe12_xAlxOt9 （x = 0.1-1.2） solid solutions have been measured by vibration sample magnetometry at different temperatures under different magnetic fields. The atomic coordinates and lattice parameters have been Rietveld refined. The invar effect is observed in low temperature range （from 4.2 K to 150 K）. It is explained by the thermal oscillation anharmonicity of atoms. The increase of microstress with decreasing temperature is found from Rietveld refinement. The Curie temperature and the change of total magnetic moment per formula unit are found for all compositions of the BaFet2_xAlxO19 （x = 0.1-1.2） solid solutions. The magnetic structure model is proposed. The most likely reasons and the mechanism of magnetic structure formation are discussed.

Nanoaggregation of the thermally stable bis（2-hydroxy-9（10）,16（17）,23（24）-tri-tert-butylphthalocyanine） of J-type was observed by the field emission scanning electron microscopy（FE-SEM）. Ordered phases, represented as threads composed of about 200 nm diameter circles were discovered, unlike the parent dimeric magnesium complex, in which similar circles combine together to give visually distinguishable zones with widths of about 600 nm and the same distance between them.
