Previous studies showed contradictory findings regarding the relationship between nitrate in drinking well-water and abnormal methemoglobin (MetHb) level (>2%) among children. We studied the effect of water chlorination in this relationship in children aged up to 7. 240 subclinical children participated in this cross-sectional study. Water nitrate was analyzed for each participant, and so was blood MetHb. Analysis of two water nitrate exposure levels (50 mg/L as )-other extraneous factors (Breslow-Day-Test for interaction), bivariate and multivariate analyses were performed. Abnormal MetHb levels (up to 7.9%) were associated (p-value = 0.020) with exposure to drinking water nitrate. Only water chlorination was an effect modifier. Among those who do not disinfect water, the prevalence of ab- normal MetHb for those with nitrate level >50 mg/L was 4.95 (p-value = 0.001, 95% CI = [1.92 - 12.79]) times the prevalence for those with nitrate level <50 mg/L. Whereas, among those who do disinfect water, the prevalence for those with high nitrate levels was only 1.38 (p-value = 0.435, 95% CI = [0.62 - 3.07]) times the prevalence of those with low nitrate levels. The biological plausibility of a relationship between waterborne microorganisms, drinking water nitrate, drinking water chlorination, and development of an abnormal MetHb level needs to be further explored.

The results of the metal-insulator transition （MIT） induced by impurity concentration are presented in the case of metallic and insulating samples 70Ge：Ga p-type. The eight samples studied have Ga concentrations N ranging from 1.848 × 1017 to 1.912 × 10^17 cm-3. The conductivity measurements were carried out at low temperature in the range 1 to 0.019 K. We provide physical explanations to explain the behaviors of the temperature dependence of the electrical conductivity in both sides of the MIT. The data are for a 70Ge：Ga sample prepared and reported by Itoh et aL in Ref. [Itoh K M, Watanabe M, Ootuka Y, et al. J Phys Soc Jpn, 2004, 73（1）： 173].

We reanalyzed experimental data already published in Friedman J R, Zhang Y, Dai P, et al. Phys Rev B, 1996, 53（15）： 9528. Variable range hopping （VRH） conduction in the insulating three-dimensional n-CdSe samples has been studied over the entire temperature range from 0.03 to 1 K. In the absence of a magnetic field, the low temperature conductivity a of the three samples （A, B and C） obeys the Mott VRH conduction with an appropriate temperature dependence in the prefactor （a = σ0 exp [- （T0/T）]^p with p ≈ 0.25）. This behavior can be explained by a VRH model where the transport occurs by hopping between localized states in the vicinity of the Fermi level, EF, without creation of the Coulomb gap （CG）. On the contrary, no Efros-Shklovskii VRH is observed, suggesting that the density is constant in the vicinity of the EF.

The Wind Energy Conversion System(WECS)based Doubly Fed Induction Generator(DFIG)has experienced a rapid development in the world,which leads to an increasing insertion of this source of energy in the electrical *** sudden and temporary drop of voltage at the network can affect the operation of the DFIG;the voltage dips produce high peak currents on the stator and rotor circuits,without protection,the rotor side converter(RSC)will suffer also from over-current limit,consequently,the RSC may even be destroyed and the generator be *** this paper a new Direct Power Control(DPC)method was developed,in order to control the stator powers and help the operation of the aero-generator during the faults grid;by injecting the reactive power into the network to contribute to the return of voltage,and set the active power to the optimum value to suppress the high peak *** DPC method was designed using the nonlinear Backstepping(BS)controller associated with the Lyapunov function to ensure the stability and robustness of the system.A comparison study was undertaken to verify the robustness and effectiveness of the DPC-BS to that of the classical vector control(VC)using Proportional-Integral(PI)*** were simulated under the Simulink®software.

In this paper,we present a detailed procedure to determine the semiconductor losses for both structures of a shunt STATCOM(Static Compensator),STATCOM based on Current Source Inverter(CSI)and STATCOM based on Voltage Source Inverter(VSI),both used for voltage unbalance *** a first step,we study the VSI-based STATCOM and the CSI-based STATCOM used in high speed railway *** we analyze the design and the sizing of the unbalance compensator in order to obtain an unbalance factor that does not exceed the limits imposed by the standards or by the energy *** that,we compare the performances obtained with both structures VSI-STATCOM and CSI-STATCOM,after calculating the semiconductor power losses in the STATCOM ***,we validate our approach by simulation over real data of unbalance compensation caused by the new high-speed railway in *** use the tools MATLAB/Simulink/Simpowersys for performing our simulations.

The assessment of the thermal energy performance of earth-based buildings with respect to the semi-arid Mediter-ranean climate of Morocco is scarce,even if the country is historically known for its earthen *** to this need,this work aims to understand and evaluate the indoor thermal comfort and energy performances of passive building in two different *** have used EnergyPlus modeling tool and in addition,the moni-tored ten-day indoor temperatures in two different thermal zones in the test prototype to justify the empirical validation of Building Energy *** findings demonstrate,the use of compressed earth blocks coupled with passive design strategies provides better comfort and great ***,the summer discomfort hours are reduced about 12%for both cities compared to conventional ***,the combination of semi-arid climate-responsive passive design has allowed to reach a thermal energy intensity reduction difference from 20 to 65 kWh.m^(-2).y^(-1).

In the uncertainties within which the worldwide food security lies nowadays,the agricultural industry is raising a crucial need for being equipped with the state-of-the-art technologies for a more efficient,climate-resilient and sustainable *** traditional production methods have to be revisited,and opportunities should be given for the innovative solutions henceforth brought by big data analytics,cloud computing and internet of things(IoT).In this context,we develop an optimized tinyML-oriented model for an active machine learningbased greenhouse microclimate management to be integrated in an on-field *** design an experimental strawberry greenhouse from which we collect multivariate climate data through installed *** obtained values'combinations are labeled according to a five-action multi-label control strategy,then used to prepare a machine learning-ready *** dataset is used to train and five-fold cross-validate 90 Multi-Layer Perceptrons(MLPs)with varied hyperparameters to select the most performant–yet optimized–model instance for the addressed *** multi-label control approach enables designing highly scalable models with reduced computational complexity,comprising only n control neurons instead of(1+∑n k=1Cn k)neurons(usually generated from a classic single-label approach from n input variables).Our final selected model incorporates 2 hidden layers with 7 and 8 neurons respectively and 151 parameters;it scored a mean accuracy of 97%during the cross-validation phase,then 96%on our supplementary test *** model enables an intelligent and autonomous greenhouse management with the less required *** can be efficiently deployed in microcontrollers within real world operating conditions.

We present a theoretical study of the magnetic properties of the lanthanum copper manganate double perovskite La2CuMnO6 ceramic,using Monte Carlo *** analyze and discuss the ground state phase diagrams in different planes to show the effect of every physical *** on the Monte Carlo simulations,which combine Metropolis algorithm and Ising model,we explore the thermal behavior of the total magnetization and *** also present and discuss the influence of physical parameters such as the external magnetic field,the exchange coupling interactions between magnetic atoms,and the exchange magnetic field on the magnetization of the ***,the critical temperature of the system is about Tc=70 K,in agreement with the experimental ***,the hysteresis loops of La2CuMnO6 are discussed.

The effect of Cu on the evolution of the Al_(3)Zr phase in an Al-Cu-Zr cast alloy during solution treatment at 500℃has been thoroughly studied by combining atomic resolution high-angle annular dark-field scanning transmission electron microscopy,energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and first-principles *** heat treatment initially produces a pure L1_(2)-Al_(3)Zr microstructure,allowing for about 13%Cu to be incorporated in the *** incorporation increases the energy barrier for anti-phase boundary(APB)activation,thus stabilizing the L1_(2)*** heating leads to a Cu-induced“branched”path for the L1_(2)structural transformation,with the latter process accelerated once the first APB has been *** atoms may either(i)be repelled by the APBs,promoting the transformation to a Cu-poor D0_(23) phase,or(ii)they may segregate at one Al-Zr layer adjacent to the APB,promoting a transformation to a new thermodynamically favored phase,Al4 CuZr,formed when these segregation layers are periodically *** studies suggest that the branching of the L1_(2)transformation path is linked to the speed at which an APB is created,with Cu attraction triggered by a comparatively slow *** unexpected transformation behavior of the L1_(2)-Al_(3)Zr phase opens a new path to un-derstanding,and potentially regulating the Al_(3)Zr dispersoid evolution for high temperature applications.
