Panulirus argus virus 1 (PaV1) is considered a major threat to spiny lobsters Panulirus argus. In this study Geospatial analysis was used to analyze PaV1 distribution in an artisanal fishery of spiny lobster Panulirus argus population from the north coast of the Yucatan Peninsula. Adult and sub-adult P. argus and seabed coverage data were collected from thirty artisanal fishing sites. Five seabed coverage types were identified: seagrass;sand/seagrass mixture;sand only;coral/sand mixture;and seaweed. No juveniles were examined. Of the 358 collected lobsters, PaV1 was identified in four organisms (three sub-adults and one adult) from two fishing sites (termed A & b), both found in a seagrass coverage area. Overall prevalence was of 1.12%. Prevalence was of 20% (2/10) at one site and of 12.6% (2/16) at the other.

AIM： To determine the prevalence of celiac disease in a group of volunteer blood donors at a blood bank in the city of Curitiba, brazil through detection of the serum marker immunoglobulin A （IgA） antitransglutaminase antibody. METHODS： blood samples collected from 2086 healthy subjects at the Paraná State Center for Hematology and Hemotherapy in Curitiba were submitted to ELISA testing for the IgA antitransglutaminase antibody. Positive samples received IgA antiendomysium antibody test through indirect immunofluorescence using human umbilical cord as substrate. Subsequently, patients who were positive on both tests underwent small bowel （distal duodenum） biopsy. RESULTS： Six subjects, four males and two females, tested positive for the two serum markers. Five of the six were submitted to intestinal biopsy （one declined the procedure）. biopsy results revealed changes in the distal duodenum mucosa （three classified as Marsh mb lesions and two as Marsh Ⅱ lesions）. Most donors diagnosed having celiac disease presented multiple symptoms （gastrointestinal tract complaints）. One donor reported having a family history of celiac disease （in a niece）. CONCLUSION： Among apparently healthy blood donors,the prevalence of biopsy-confirmed celiac disease was approximately 1：417, similar to that seen in European countries.

白色念珠菌（Candida albicans）被視為以絕對二被體（obligate diploid）方式存活,單倍體因為基因具有高度異質性而無法單獨存在。作者觀察到以fluconazole等麥角固醇合成抑制抗黴菌藥物會對白色念珠菌造成型態激烈變化,有類似white-opaque transition之現象。經性別基因鑑定發現有單性化,即僅具有MATa或MAT性別基因菌珠發生頻率高於自然機率之趨勢。進一步檢查基因體組發現經fluconazole短期間暴露後所篩選之菌株有染色體短少或增加之現象。我們將這種現象假設為"不平均染色體分裂"。這些菌株再以流式細胞儀檢視篩選核酸含量最低之菌株,得到不同性別之兩株可能為單倍體之菌株分別為17-LS及LN208b。以SNP分析、RFLP/SNP分析、以及下世代全基因體定序（next generation sequencing,NGS）分析確認此二白色念珠菌菌株為單倍體,並可由設計之軟體工具証明其單倍體基因型（comparative halpotyping）。觀察Fluconazole誘發第一對染色體遺失之機率,可由轉化（transformation）之菌種CG5証明,約有16.6%之機會失去其中一條染色體。此一發現有助於單一基因剔除（knockout）之便利性及後續單一基因功能之探討。此外,在含Phloxine b之培養基在Fluconazole抑制圈產生的著色菌落及特殊細胞型態,亦可做為判斷不同血流感染念珠菌種之判斷。

This work presents the pathology description, isolation and identification of canine herpesvirus (CHV-1) in Mexico, a virus that causes a generalized hemorrhagic infection in puppies from the canidae family. Methods: Isolates were obtained from puppies that died within the first four weeks of life and had lesions consistent with canine herpesvirus. Results: The main gross lesions were petechial and ecchymotic hemorrhages in kidneys, liver and lungs;proliferative interstitial nephritis;multifocal necrosis in liver and kidneys;and encephalitis with intranuclear inclusion bodies. Herpesvirus was confirmed through direct immunofluorescence, electron microscopy and polymerase chain reaction for DNA polymerase and glycoprotein b genes. Discussion: Eight strains were isolated and identified as canine herpesvirus corresponding to three of the working cases with gross and microscopic lesions very similar to those described in the literature;then, isolates were confirmed by PCR gene amplification, positive reactions on immunofluorescence and observations from electron microscopy. This work represents the first report of this disease, including gross and histological lesions, and confirmation by isolation and identification of the canine herpesvirus in Mexico.

AIM:To evaluate the effectiveness of the biological disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs(b DMARD) in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis through a systematic review of observational ***:The studies were searched in the Pub Med,EMbASE,Cochrane Controlled Trials Register and LILACS databases(until August 2014),in the grey literature and conducted a manual *** assessed criteria of effectiveness included the EULAR,the disease activity score(DAS),the Clinical Disease Activity Index,the Simplified Disease Activity Index,the American College of Rheumatology and the Health Assessment *** meta-analysis was performed with Review Manager 5.2 software using a random effects model.A total of 35 studies were included in this ***:The participants anti-tumor necrosis factor inhibitors(TNF) nave,who used adalimumab(P = 0.0002) and etanercept(P = 0.0006) exhibited greater good EULAR response compared to the participants who used *** difference was detected between adalimumab and etanercept(P = 0.05).The participants who used etanercept exhibited greater remission according to DAS28 compared to the participants who used infliximab(P = 0.01).No differences were detected between adalimumab and infliximab(P = 0.12) or etanercept(P = 0.79).better results were obtained with b DMARD associated with methotrexate than with b DMARD *** good EULAR response and DAS 28 was better for combination with methotrexate than b DMARD monotherapy(P = 0.03 e P b exhibited greater DAS28 reduction compared to those who used anti-TNF agents(P = 0.0002).The participants who used etanercept achieved greater good EULAR response compared to those who did not use that drug(P = 0.007).Studies that assessed reduction of the CDAI score indicated the superiority of abatacept over rituximab(12.4 vs +1.7) and anti-TNF agents(7.6 vs 8.3).The present systematic review with meta-analys

A case report of a premenarcheal patient with an ovarian torsion and mlleria n agenesis is presented. An 11-year old prepubertal girl presented with severe left lower quadrant abdominal pain and mild rebound. A computed tomography showe d a normal appendix; an ultrasound showed a left ovary measuring 3 ×2 cm with m ultiple 0.5-mm simple cysts. A diagnostic laparoscopy showed the left ovary tub e to be twisted, but the uterus was absent, and the right ovary and tube were no t visualized in the appropriate location; instead, a right adnexal structure was buried in the right sidewall. The ovary was untwisted and fixed to the pelvic sidewall. Chromosomes were 46,XX, and her hormonal evaluation was norma l. Ovarian torsion and mllerian agenesis are rarely reported. An association b etween the lax attachment of the adnexa and torsion may be a contributing factor in this condition.

Provisional prosthetic restoration materials are exposed to oral cavity producing on the surface biofilm where different factors such as surface roughness and porosity can condition their formation and organization and can create stagnation areas that promote the bonding of organic particles, thus facilitating the formation and maturation of the biofilm. The purpose of this study was to compare surface roughness of two provisional prosthetic restorations materials and their bacterial susceptibility. In this study, two provisional restoration materials were used in two groups, A polymethyl methacrylate acrylic (NicTone MDC DENTAL) and b bis-acryl resin (Protemp 4 ESPE 3M). A total of 80 samples (40 samples of each material) were in thick plates of 10 × 10 mm and 2 mm high. 20 samples of each material were polished, while 20 were left unpolished. Subsequently, the samples were observed by Atomic Force Microscopy for their evaluation of surface roughness. The values were analyzed with t-test, Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal Wallis test. The samples were microbiologically inoculated with the strains obtained and identified from a provisional polymethyl methacrylate acrylic restoration in a patient, in order to observe bacterial adhesion using a Scanning Electron Microscope. Two strains, Enterococcus faecalis and Pseudomona luteola, were identified. The presence of the microorganisms was observed on the surface of both materials, either polished or unpolished, with a lower level of microorganism adhesion found on the bis-acrylic resin. There was a significant difference about surface roughness in the groups A and b with p -8). We found that the polished bis-acrylic resin showed lower surface roughness and bacterial adhesion in comparison with the polymethyl methacrylate.

Pereskia aculeata Miller commonly known as “ora-pro-nobis” has been used extensively in folclore medicine. Plant belongs to the family Cactacea and it is found in the brazil (reaching bahia and Rio Grande do Sul states). The purpose was to evaluate the effects of plant on biochemical and corporal profiles of Wistar rats. The 80 animals were divided randomly into 4 groups by sex (n = 10 females and 10 males per group) as follows: G1 group (water/rat food ad libitum);G2 group (drink A: commercial condensed milk, sugar and water/rat food ad libitum);G3 group (drink b: P. aculeata juice/rat food ad libitum);G4 group (drink C: commercial condensed milk, sugar and P. aculeate juice/rat food ad libitum). After 35 days their biochemical and corporal profiles were analyzed (cholesterol, glycemia, triglycerides, HDL-c, AST, ALT, Lee Index, weight and visceral fat). Intake of the plant caused no changes in the lipid profile of Wistar rats. However, intake in male rats of the same prevented the increase in triglycerides front of a hypercaloric diet. There were significant changes in glycemic index due to the high carbohydrate content of the plant. The plant was effective in reducing the levels of AST and ALT in male rats and ALT only in females. The use of the plant did not cause significant changes in the index of Lee but the Pereskia aculeata Miller may reduce visceral fat gain in female with a regular diet.

Mastitis, antimicrobial resistance and acaricide resistance pose significant threats to the development of the dairy industry in sub-Saharan Africa. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of antimicrobial resistance in bacteria isolated from CMT positive cows on farms located in high (HARA) and low (lara) acaricide resistance challenge regions of Uganda. Among selected herds in both regions, subclinical mastitis (SCM) screening was performed using CMT. CMT positive samples were collected, cultured, bacteria isolated and antibiotic sensitivity tests conducted. Overall, the prevalence of SCM in cows was 71.5% and 27.7% for HARA and lara respectively. A SCM herd prevalence of 66.3% and 28.2% was recorded for HARA and lara respectively. Furthermore, 67.5% and 20.8% of the cows in the HARA and lara groups, respectively, had three out of four udder quarters infected with SCM. Staphylococcus aureus (44.2%) and coagulase-negative Staphylococcus (CNS) (47.6%) were the most prevalent causative agents of SCM isolated from cows from HARA and lara, respectively. Most isolates from both regions were highly resistant to penicillin (HARA, 84.3%;lara, 95.6%) and colistin (HARA, 100%;lara, 97.8%). Tetracycline (77.1%) and oxacillin (76.1%) resistance was high in isolates from HARA and lara, respectively. Intermediate responses (neither susceptible nor resistant) to antibiotics were more common in isolates from HARA than in those from lara. With this level of antibiotic resistance, there is a potential risk of failure to control mastitis in dairy cattle using antibiotics, especially in the HARA region, which may possibly jeopardize the growth of the dairy industry in Uganda.
