In this study, we proposed a novel and efficient way to strengthen polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) fiber using graphene quantum dots(GQDs). PVA molecular chains were grafted onto the surface of GQDs through Friedel-Crafts alkylation reaction to obtain functionalized GQDs(f-GQDs), and PVA/f-GQDs composite fiber was successfully prepared by wet spinning and post-treatment. The tensile strength and Young's modulus of the composite fiber reached up to 1229.24 MPa and 35.36 GPa which were approximately twice and 4 times those of the pure PVA fiber, respectively. Moreover, the composite fiber was demonstrated excellent resistance to solvents. In addition, the PVA/f-GQDs composite fiber showed intense and uniform cyan fluorescence, meanwhile, it could maintain stable solid-state fluorescence in acid and alkali solutions and particularly after long-term immersion in water(1 month). This study proposes a promising route for obtaining high-performance conventional fibers with some new functions.

Broad area quantum cascade lasers(BA QCLs)have significant applications in many areas,but suffer from demanding pulse operating conditions and poor beam quality due to heat accumulation and generation of high order modes.A structure of mini-array is adopted to improve the heat dissipation capacity and beam quality of BA *** active region is etched to form a multi-emitter and the channels are filled with In P:Fe,which acts as a lateral heat dissipation channel to improve the lateral heat dissipation efficiency.A device withλ~4.8μm,a peak output power of 122 W at 1.2%duty cycle with a pulse of 1.5μs is obtained in room temperature,with far-field single-lobed *** result allows BA QCLs to obtain high peak power at wider pump pulse widths and higher duty cycle conditions,promotes the application of the mid-infrared laser operating in pulsed mode in th e field of standoff photoacoustic chemical detection,space optical communication,and so on.

Battery safety is influenced by various factors,with thermal runaway being one of the most significant *** most studies have concentrated on developing one-time,self-activating mechanism for thermal protection,such as temperature-responsive electrodes,and thermal-shutdown separators,these methods only provide irreversible ***,reversible temperature-sensitive electrolytes have emerged as promising alternatives,offering both thermo-reversibility and self-protective ***,further research is crucial to fully understand these thermal-shutdown *** this study,we propose lower critical solution temperature(LCST) phase behavior poly(benzyl methacrylate)/imidazolium-based ionic liquid mixtures to prepare temperature-sensitive electrolytes that provide reversible thermal shutdown protection of *** electrolyte features an appropriate protection temperature(～105℃) and responds quickly within a 1 min at 105℃,causing cells to hardly discharge as the voltage suddenly drops to 3.38 V,and providing efficient thermal shutdown protection within 30 *** cooling back to room temperature,the battery regains its original ***,the electrolyte exhibits excellent cycling stability with the capacity retention of the battery is 91.6% after 500 *** work provides a viable solution for preventing batteries from thermal runaway triggered by overheating.

The synergy of single atoms(SAs)and nanoparticles(NPs)has demonstrated great potential in promoting the electrocatalytic carbon dioxide reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR);however,the rationalization of the SAs/NPs proportion remains one challenge for the catalyst ***,a Ni2+-loaded porous poly(ionic liquids)(PIL)precursor synthesized through the free radical self-polymerization of the ionic liquid monomer,1-allyl-3-vinylimidazolium chloride,was pyrolyzed to prepare the Ni,N co-doped carbon materials,in which the proportion of Ni SAs and NPs could be facilely modulated by controlling the annealing *** catalyst Ni-NC-1000 with a moderate proportion of Ni SAs and NPs exhibited high efficiency in the electrocatalytic conversion of CO_(2)into *** Ni K-edge X-ray absorption near-edge structure(XANES)spectra and theoretical calculations were conducted to gain insight into the synergy of Ni SAs and *** charge transfer from Ni NPs to the surrounding carbon layer and then to the Ni SAs resulted in the electron-enriched Ni SAs active *** the electroreduction of CO_(2),the coexistence of Ni SAs and NPs strengthened the CO_(2)activation and the affinity towards the key intermediate of*COOH,lowering the free energy for the potential-determining*CO_(2)→*COOH step,and therefore promoted the catalysis efficiency.

The manipulation of single atom within the metallic kernel of nanoclusters has attracted considerable attention due to its potentials to elucidate kernel-based structure-property relationships at the single-atom ***,new-designed chiral bialkynyl ligands,have been chosen as protective agents to isolate two pairs of 8-electron superatomic silver nanoclusters,R/S-Ag39 and R/S-Ag40.X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that Ag39 and Ag40 with the same number of chiral ligands,possess a closely analogous silver skeleton but a single-atomic *** incorporation of an extra Ag40th atom into Ag40 evokes two significant changes of structure and property compared to Ag39:(i)a reduction in the symmetry of the entire nanocluster,resulting in an enhancement of kernel-related asymmetry g-factor;(ii)a regulation of the transitions(1P→1D and Ligand(π)→1D)of excited state,leading to a second near-infrared(NIR-II,1000-1700 nm)phosphorescent emission red-shift from 1088 to 1150 *** work not only provides vital insights into the relationship between structures and ground/excited states chiroptical activities at the single-atom level,but also presents bialkynyl as a promising stabilizing agent for building superatomic metal nanoclusters.

Wetland and habitat dynamics in the evolving landscape of the Middle Yangtze River Basin

Wetlands play a critical role in the global *** Middle Yangtze River Basin(MYRB),known for its abundant wetland resources,has experienced notable changes resulting from the complex interplay of environmental ***,we investigated the spatiotemporal characteristics of wetland ecological quality in the MYRB from 2001 to *** the random forest(RF)regression algorithm and patch-generated land-use simulation(PLUS)model,we forecasted variations in wetland habitat quality and their determinants under the Shared Socioeconomic Pathway-Representative Concentration Pathway(SSPRCP)framework from 2035 to *** main findings are as follows:(1)The RF algorithm was optimal for land-use and land-cover(LULC)classification in the MYRB from 2001 to 2020,when notable changes were observed in water bodies and ***,the forested area exhibited an increase and decrease of 3.9%and 1.2%under the SSP1-2.6 and SSP5-8.5 scenarios,respectively,whereas farmland exhibited a diminishing trend.(2)Wetlands were primarily concentrated in the central and eastern MYRB,with counties in the southwest exhibiting superior ecological-environmental quality from 2001 to ***,wetland coverage revealed significantly high level,significant changes,frequent but relatively minor changes under the SSP1-2.6,SSP2-4.5,and SSP 5-8.5 scenarios,respectively.(3)Regions with lower habitat quality were primarily concentrated in urbanized areas characterized by frequent human activities,indicating a clear degradation in habitat quality across different *** conclusion,we established a foundational framework for future investigations into the eco-hydrological processes and ecosystem quality of watersheds.

The artificial bee colony algorithm has the advantages of a simple structure and easy implementation. However, due to its strong exploration ability and weak exploitation capability, it also suffers from drawbacks such as low solution accuracy and slow convergence speed. To solve these problems, this paper proposes a dual search mode artificial bee colony algorithm based on exploration-exploitation tradeoff, which includes three core modules: exploration-exploitation control, exploration-exploitation execution, and exploration-exploitation reinforcement. In the control stage, we design an exploration-exploitation indicator based on the population’s evolutionary dynamics, which initially emphasizes exploration and gradually shifts towards exploitation. In the execution stage, we design search equations guided by differential solution information, with a focus on the implementation points of exploration and exploitation. In the enhancement stage, the onlooker bees are instructed to select high-quality food sources for further search, using criteria such as diversity ranking and fitness ranking. Numerical experiments are conducted on traditional test functions and CEC2013 test functions. The results demonstrate that compared with eight high-level artificial bee colony algorithms proposed in recent years, the proposed algorithm exhibits strong competitiveness in terms of solution quality and convergence speed. Finally, the proposed algorithm is applied to optimize the risk prediction model for esophageal cancer, yielding satisfactory results. © 2025 Northeast University. All rights reserved.

BACKGROUND The incidence of colon cancer has been progressively increasing over time,whereas penile metastasis of colon cancer has remained exceedingly *** the prognosis for colon cancer with BRAF_(V600E)mutation is relatively unfavorable,further exploration and investigation are still required to develop treatment strategies for such rare *** SUMMARY About one year after surgery and chemotherapy,a 50-year-old patient with sigmoid colon cancer developed a mass at the base of the patient's penis,accompanied by severe tenderness and pain during *** disease progression,multiple metastatic nodules also emerged in other regions of the penis,including the coronal *** nodules located in the coronal sulcus were excised for histopathological *** histopathological findings revealed that the nodules were metastases originating from the sigmoid colon cancer,with a BRAF V600E mutation *** prompted a modification of the therapy regimen of cetuximab,dabrafenib and trametinib,which effectively held back the progression of penile metastasis in the *** Combining the BRAF/MEK-targeted therapy with cetuximab demonstrates a favorable therapeutic response in BRAF_(V600E)-mutated colon cancer with penile metastasis.

AIM:To isolate and identify the conjunctival microbiota of cataract patients and analyze the associated influencing ***:This study recruited 216 participants(216 eyes)from April 2022 to July *** the condition of no antibiotic use prior to cataract surgery,sterile swabs were used to collect samples from the lower conjunctival *** cultures were then conducted,followed by species identification through 16S rDNA gene *** factors associated with positive or negative bacterial isolation rates were analyzed,including age,gender,meibomian gland dysfunction(MGD),history of hypertension,history of diabetes,history of cancer,history of infectious diseases and the habit of wearing ***:Among the 216 eyes,78 eyes yielded isolates,with an isolation rate of 36.11%,detecting a total of 122 ***-positive rods accounted for 49.18%(60 strains),gram-positive cocci accounted for 45.08%(55 strains),gram-negative bacteria accounted for 4.92%(6 strains),and fungi accounted for 0.82%(1 strain).This study found that the most abundant genera in the conjunctival sac were Corynebacterium(42.62%),Staphylococcus(31.15%),Micrococcus(9.84%),Acinetobacter(4.10%),and Bacillus(3.28%).Furthermore,age(P=0.006),gender(P=0.039),diabetes(P=0.003),history of infectious diseases(P=0.02),and duration of mask replacement(Pjunctival *** hypertensive patients exhibited a higher isolation rate of conjunctival bacteria,it did not reach statistical significance,and the history of cancer did not affect the isolation rate of the conjunctival microbial community in cataract patients before ***:Potential changes are observed in the conjunctival microbiota among a sample of middleaged and elderly individuals from Beijing,***,an increased isolation rate of Corynebacterium and Micrococcus is detected,suggesting a possible change in the mic
