Impact of physical activity on health-related quality of life in osteoporotic and osteopenic postmenopausal women:A systematic review

Objective:This meta-analysis included papers which evaluated the effects of physical activity on the health-related quality of life(HRQoL)of osteoporotic and osteopenic postmenopausal ***:Four English databases were searched for relevant randomized clinical trials(RTCs)published from 1970 to June,*** RCTs which used the Quality of life Questionnaire of the European Foundation for Osteoporosis(QUALEFFO)as their outcome measure were selected for ***:Five RCTs were included in the final *** results showed that physical activity produced favorable effects in the HRQoL domains of physical function(p=0.001)and pain(p=0.01),but not in other *** with a single exercise,combined exercise produced more favorable effects on both physical function(p=0.0004)and pain(p=0.02).Short-term physical activity produced significant favorable results in all general health domains of HRQoL(p=0.01),whereas middle-term physical activity produced significant improvements only in the physical function(plity of life of osteoporotic and osteopenic postmenopausal *** with a single exercise,combined exercise produced favorable effects on both physical function and ***,different lengths of exercise produced improvements in different domains.

Adhesive hydrogel has drawn great attention for wide applications in wound healing owing to its excellent biocompatibility and lasting ***,traditional adhesive hydrogels only keep the wound moist to promote wound *** is still imperative to fabricate adhesive hydrogels that exhibit efficient antibacterial ability,active driving dynamic wound closure,and reactive oxygen species(ROS)scavenging together with excellent mechanical ***,a novel hydrogel based on poly(N-isopropyl acrylamide)(PNIPAAm),a thermoresponsive polymer,and tannic acid(TA)-Ag nanoparticles(TA-Ag NPs)exhibiting active contraction,tissue adhesion,anti-inflammatory and antibacterial functions was ***-Ag dispersed in the hydrogel not only functioned as the catalyst to polymerize the reaction but also provided additional anti-inflammatory and antibacterial ***,tannic acid containing catechol groups endowed the hydrogel with adhesive *** interestingly,the obtained hydrogel exhibited the thermoresponsive shrinkage ability,which could mechanically drive wound closure due to the presence of PNIPAAm *** vivo mouse full-thickness skin defect model demonstrated that this actively contractible and antibacterial hydrogel is a promising dressing to improve wound healing process by accelerating tissue regeneration and preventing bacterial ***,this multi-functional adhesive hydrogel developed here may provide a new possibility for wound healing.

Nonlinear holography has recently emerged as a novel tool to reconstruct the encoded information at a new wavelength,which has important applications in optical display and optical ***,this scheme still struggles with low conversion efficiency and ineffective *** this work,we demonstrate a quasi-phasematching(QPM)-division multiplexing holography in a three-dimensional(3D)nonlinear photonic crystal(NPC).3D NPC works as a nonlinear hologram,in which multiple images are distributed into different Ewald spheres in reciprocal *** reciprocal vectors locating in a given Ewald sphere are capable of fulfilling the complete QPM conditions for the high-efficiency reconstruction of the target image at the second-harmonic(SH)*** can easily switch the reconstructed SH images by changing the QPM *** multiplexing capacity is scalable with the period number of 3D *** work provides a promising strategy to achieve highly efficient nonlinear multiplexing holography for high-security and high-density storage of optical information.

Simultaneous detection of different serum pepsinogens and its primary application

AIM: To develop the simple, rapid and sensitive dual-label time-resolved fluoroimmunoassay for pepsinogens in human ***: Based on two-site sandwich protocol, mono-clonal antibodies (McAbs) against pepsinogen Ⅰ (PG Ⅰ) and PG Ⅱ were co-coated in 96 microtitration wells, and tracer McAbs against PG Ⅰ and PG Ⅱ were labeled with europium (Eu) and samarium (Sm) chelate, respectively. Diluted serum samples of Eu3+- and Sm3+-McAbs were added into microtitration wells simultaneously. After washing, fluorescence of bound Sm3+ and Eu3+ tracers was detected. RESULTS: The detection limit was 0.2 μg/L for PG Ⅰ and 0.05 μg/L for PG Ⅱ. The assay range was 5.0-320.0 μg/Lfor PG Ⅰ and 1.0-55.0 μg/L for PG Ⅱ. The average re-covery rate was 102.7% for PG Ⅰ and 98.8% for PG Ⅱ. Sera from healthy controls and patients with gastric dis-ease were analyzed. The PG detected by dual-label as-say was in good agreement with that detected by single-label assay or by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. CONCLUSION: Dual-label assay can provide high-throughput serological screening for gastric diseases.

Genome-wide scan for selection signatures based on whole-genome re-sequencing in landrace and Yorkshire pigs

We performed a genome-wide scan to detect selection signatures that showed evidence of positive selection in the domestication process by re-sequencing the whole genomes of landrace and Yorkshire *** annotated elements with 13 associated genes were identified using the Z-transformed FST(Z(FST))method,and 208 annotated elements with 140 associated genes were identified using the Z-transformed heterozygosity(ZHp)*** functional analysis and the results of previous studies showed that most of the candidate genes were associated with basic metabolism,disease resistance,cellular processes,and biochemical signals,and several were related to body morphology and *** included PPP3CA,which plays an essential role in the transduction of intracellular Ca2+-mediated signals,and WWTR1,which plays a pivotal role in organ size control and tumor *** results suggest that genes associated with body morphology were subject to selection pressure during domestication,whereas genes involved in basic metabolism and disease resistance were subject to selection during artificial *** findings provide new insights into the potential genetic variation of phenotypic diversity in different pig breeds and will help to better understand the selection effects of modern breeding in landrace and Yorkshire pigs.

Stripping units take a key role in the neutral particle analyzer(NPA).A renovated gas-stripping unit was constructed for the newly designed E//B *** H_(2)as the working gas,we measured the gas inlet pressure(P_(0))and vacuum chamber pressure(P_(3)).The pressure distribution inside the gas-stripping room was calculated with Ansys Fluent,using the measured P_(0)and P_(3)as boundary *** stripping efficiency of the stripping unit was then simulated utilizing the Geant4 Monte Carlo code for the H and D *** pressure P_(0)=40 Pa,which is one-sixth of what found in the previous design and corresponds to a thickness of 1.27×10^(17)atoms∕cm^(2),was obtained as the optimum working pressure for the upgraded stripping *** 50 kV electron cyclotron resonance(ECR)ion source platform was designed and constructed for E//B NPA calibration,and its performance has been *** the ECR ion source platform,we measured the efficiency of the stripping unit through an inverse experiment with proton *** compared the current ratios of measurements with and without H_(2)gas to Geant4 simulation *** found adequate agreement between the overall trends of the experiment and the *** significant deviation for incident energies below 20 keV may result from the scattering effects of low-energy protons,leading to reduced accuracy in single-scattering physics in Geant4 *** the scattering corrections observed in the reverse experiments obtains more accurate stripping efficiencies for H and D atoms in the energy range of 20–200 keV and the global efficiency with the maximum values of 95.0%for H atoms and 78.9%for D atoms at 200 keV.

Grain size is an important determinant of grain weight and yield in *** several genes related to grain size have been identified,natural variations in these genes that affect grain size are poorly ***,we describe the grain length QTL GL10,encoding MADS56,which positively regulates grain length and grain weight.A natural allelic variation of NIL-gl10,containing an~1.0-kb deletion in the first exon that abolishes its transcription,results in shorter grain length,lower grain weight and delayed flowering in gl10 *** knockout of GL10 in the HJX74 background leads to grain phenotypes similar to that of NIL-gl10,while overexpression of GL10 results in increased grain length and weight and earlier heading ***10 regulates grain length by promoting greater longitudinal cell growth in the grain ***,GL10 participates in the regulation of gibberellic acid(GA)signaling pathway genes in young panicle *** of GL10 haplotypes shows obvious divergence between the japonica and indica *** findings reveal an allelic variation of GL10 that may explain differences in grain length among modern cultivars and could be used to breed rice varieties with optimized grain shape.

Quzhou Aurantii Fructus(QAF)has a long history as a folk medicine and food for the treatment of liver *** our earlier study provided evidence of hepatoprotective properties contained within the flavonoids and limonins constituents in QAF,the potential preventative effects afforded by essential oil components present within QAF remains *** this study,we prepared Quzhou Aurantii Fructus essential oil(QAFEO)and confirmed its anti-inflammatory effects on liver inflammation through experimentation on lipopolysaccharide and D-galactosamine(LPS/D-GalN)induced acute liver failure(ALF)mouse *** RNA-sequence(RNA-seq)analysis,we found that QAFEO prevented ALF by systematically blunting the pathways involved in response to LPS and toll-like receptor signaling *** effectively suppressed the phosphorylation of tank-binding kinase 1(TBK1),TGF-beta activated kinase 1(TAK1),interferon regulatory factor 3(IRF3),and the activation of mitogen activated kinase-like protein(MAPK)and nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB)pathways in vivo and in ***,QAFEO substantially reduced myeloid differentiation primary response gene 88(MyD88)-toll-like receptor 4(TLR4)interaction ***,8 compounds from QAFEO could directly bind to REAL,TAK1,MyD88,TBK1,and *** together,the results of our study support the notion that QAFEO exerts a hepatoprotective effect through inhibiting LPS-mediated inflammatory response.

Viscoelastic deformation behavior of cement and emulsified asphalt mortar in China railway track system I prefabricated slab track

Under repeated train-induced loads, cement and emulsified asphalt mortar(CA mortar) as a viscoelastic material has a time-dependent deformation, part of which is irreversible. This could lead to debonding between the mortar layer and the track slab. Based on the theory of viscoelasticity and the analytical method of the time hardening law(THL), the viscoelastic deformation behavior of CA mortar was studied. Using ABAQUS, we established a solid model of China railway track system(CRTS) Ⅰ prefabricated slab track, with CA mortar at different initial Young’s moduli under cyclic loading corresponding to the influence of actual train loads. The results reveal that the fitted parameters of the THL for CA mortar are suitable for describing its viscoelastic deformation. As the initial Young’s modulus increases, the strain difference before and after cyclic loading gradually decreases, and the displacement difference increases from 0.2 mm to 0.6 mm. The deformation mainly occurs at the end of a mortar layer with longitudinal distribution of about 2.5 times the fasteners’ spacing. It follows that the viscoelastic performance of CA mortar is one of the most important reasons that cause debonding underneath the track slab. Therefore, we suggest that the adverse effects of viscoelastic behavior of CA mortar should be considered when researching such deformation and damage.
