Plasmonic sensing technology has attracted considerable attention for high sensitivity due to the ability to effectively localize and manipulate light.In this study,we demonstrate a refractive index(RI)sensing scheme based on open-loop twisted meta-molecule arrays using the versatile nano-kirigami principle.RI sensing has the features of a small footprint,flexible control,and simple preparation.By engineering the morphology of meta-molecules or the RI of the ambient medium,the chiral surface lattice resonances can be significantly enhanced,and the wavelength,intensity,and sign of circular dichroism(CD)can be flexibly tailored.Utilizing the relation between the wavelength of the CD peak and the RI of the superstrate,the RI sensor achieves a sensitivity of 1133 nm/RIU.Additionally,we analyze these chiroptical responses by performing electromagnetic multipolar decomposition and electric field distributions.Our study may serve as an ideal platform for applications of RI measurement and provide new insights into the manipulation of chiral light–matter interactions.

Chloride (Cl−) ion erosion effects can seriously impact the safety and service life of marine liquefied natural gas(LNG) storage tanks and other polar offshore structures. This study investigates the impact of different low-temperaturecycles (20°C, –80°C, and −160°C) and concrete specimen crack widths (0, 0.3, and 0.6 mm) on the Cl−ion diffusion performance through rapid erosion tests conducted on pre-cracked concrete. The results show thatthe minimum temperature and crack width of freeze-thaw cycles enhance the erosive effect of chloride ions. TheCl− ion concentration and growth rate increased with the increasing crack width. Based on the experimental modeland in accordance with Fick’s second law of diffusion, the Cl− ion diffusion equation was modified by introducingcorrection factors in consideration of the freeze-thaw temperature, crack width, and their coupling effect.The experimental and fitting results obtained from this model can provide excellent reference for practical engineeringapplications.

Vertebrate life begins with fertilization,and then the zygote genome is activated after transient silencing,a process termed zygotic genome activation(ZGA).Despite its fundamental role in totipotency and the initiation of life,the precise mechanism underlying ZGA initiation remains unclear.The existence of minor ZGA implies the possible critical role of noncoding RNAs in the initiation of ZGA.Here,we delineate the expression profile of long noncoding RNAs(lncRNAs)in early mouse embryonic development and elucidate their critical role in minor ZGA.Compared with protein-coding genes(PCGs),lncRNAs exhibit a stronger correlation with minor ZGA.Distinct H3K9me3 profiles can be observed between lncRNA genes and PCGs,and the enrichment of H3K9me3 before ZGA might explain the suspended expression of major ZGA-related PCGs despite possessing PolII pre-configuration.Furthermore,we identified the presence of PolII-enriched MuERV-L around the transcriptional start site of minor ZGA-related lncRNAs,and these repeats are responsible for the activation of minor ZGA-related lncRNAs and subsequent embryo development.Our study suggests that MuERV-L mediates minor ZGA lncRNA activation as a critical driver between epigenetic reprogramming triggered by fertilization and the embryo developmental program,thus providing clues for understanding the regulatory mechanism of totipotency and establishing bona fide totipotent stem cells.

SubclassⅢsucrose nonfermenting1-related protein kinase 2s(SnRK2s)function in ABA and abiotic stress responses by unknown mechanisms.We found that osmotic stress/ABA-activated protein kinase 10(SAPK10),a member of rice SnRK2s,physically interacted with CBL-interacting protein kinase 1(OsCIPK1).OsCIPK1 expression was up-regulated by ABA and PEG treatment,and overexpression increased the ABA sensitivity of seed germination and root growth and plant osmotic stress tolerance.Osmotic stress or ABA-induced activation of OsCIPK1 is dependent on SAPK10.SAPK10 phosphorylates Thr-24 of OsCIPK1 in vitro,and this phosphorylation increases the activity of OsCIPK1 and positively regulates the function of OsCIPK1 in ABA responses and plant osmotic stress tolerance.This study suggests that OsCIPK1 is a direct phosphorylated substrate of SAPK10,and SAPK10-mediated phosphorylation of OsCIPK1 functions in ABA signaling and increases rice osmotic stress tolerance.

Pitting is a common type of localized corrosion in passive alloys that can cause rapid failure of material or equipment.In the case of stainless steels,non-metallic inclusions have been identified as the most susceptible sites for pitting,and have therefore garnered significant attention.This review critically ex-amines the issue of how inclusions induce pitting,with a particular focus on three mechanisms:sponta-neous dissolution of inclusions,active dissolution of Cr-depleted regions,and propagation of microcracks at the inclusion-matrix interface.While researchers have made significant strides in understanding these mechanisms over the past few decades,many gaps and controversies remain.Details such as the ini-tial driving force of inclusion dissolution and factors affecting Cr-depleted regions require further study.Moreover,some old concepts and methods need to be revised to arrive at more credible conclusions.This review aims to delve deeply into these important issues and provide inspiration for future research.

There is an urgent imperative to discover practical and efficacious artificial catalysts for the expeditious decontamination of toxic organophosphates. Herein, we propose a novel molecularly imprinted approach utilizing electrospun fiber scaffolds. Specifically, an amidoxime-based functional polymer (PMAOX) has been synthesized, which contains amidoxime groups that can act as nucleophiles and ligands for the formation of catalytic active sites. This polymer was blended with polyacrylonitrile (PAN), a well-processable material, to prepare a nanofiber mat using electrospinning techniques. Then, the amidoxime side groups on fiber surface were further cross-linked after the molecular coordination of templates to complete the molecularly imprinting process. This approach can not only enhance the content of functional molecularly imprinted polymers without affecting structural stability, but also combines surface MI technology to fully expose and leverage the advantages of active sites. The as prepared molecularly imprinted electrospun nanofibers MIF-Zn-PMAOX/PAN-6/4 catalyzes the degradation of paraoxon with a half-life of 32 min, and MIF-Ag-PMAOX/PAN catalyzes the degradation of parathion with a half-life of 18 min. The maximum catalytic rate evidence rate enhancements nearly 3700-fold of the self-hydrolysis. Thus, the mono-amidoxime based molecularly imprinted fibers demonstrate the versatility and superiority as self-detoxifying for organophosphates.

Biliary dyskinesia is a relatively common gastrointestinal disease that is increas-ing in incidence as living standards improve.However,its underlying pathogenesis remains unclear,hindering the development of therapeutic drugs.Recently,“Expression and functional study of cholecystokinin-A receptors on the interstitial Cajal-like cells of the guinea pig common bile duct”demonstrated that cholecystokinin(CCK)regulates the contractile function of the common bile duct through interaction with the CCK-A receptor in interstitial Cajal-like cells,contributing to improving the academic understanding of biliary tract dynamics and providing emerging directions for the pathogenesis and clinical management of biliary dyskinesia.This letter provides a brief overview of the role of CCK and CCK-A receptors in biliary dyskinesia from the perspective of animal experiments and clinical studies,and discusses prospects and challenges for the clinical application of CCK and CCK-A receptors as potential therapeutic targets.

Dear Editor,Lung adenocarcinoma with choroidal metastasis is a common form of cancer,with breast cancer accounting for 40%-53%and lung cancer accounting for 20%-29%of primary cases with choroidal metastases[1].This type of metastatic cancer typically affects people aged 40-70y,and is more prevalent in women than men[1].Ocular symptoms,including vision loss,can be an early indication of the disease,as many tumors are asymptomatic in their early stages.Studies have shown that 40.3%of cases involve the macular region,which explains why ocular symptoms are often the first manifestation of the disease[2].When choroidal metastasis is suspected in patients without a history of cancer,a combination of diagnostic tools should be used to identify the primary source of the tumor.Choroidal tumors can serve as an indication of future lung cancer diagnosis in some patients with lung cancer[1].In this report,we present a case of bilateral lung adenocarcinoma where ocular symptoms were the first indication of the disease.
