Analysis of the inflection points of height-diameter models

the inflection point.is an important feature of sigmoidal height-diameter(H-D)*** is often cited as one of the properties favoring sigmoidal model ***,there are very few studies analyzing the inflection points of H-D *** goals of t.is study were to theoretically and empirically examine the behaviors of inflection points of six common H-D models with a regional *** six models were the Wykoff(WYK),Schumacher(SCH),Curtis(CUR),HossfeldⅣ(HOS),von Bertalanffy-Richards(VBR),and Gompertz(GPZ)*** models were first fitted in their base forms with tree species as random effects and were then expanded to include functional traits and spatial *** dist.ibutions of the estimated inflection points were similar between the two-parameter models WYK,SCH,and CUR,but were different between the threeparameter models HOS,VBR,and *** produced some of the largest.inflection *** and VBR produced concave H-D curves without.inflection points for 12.7%and 39.7%of the tree *** species or decreasing shade tolerance resulted in larger inflection *** trends in the estimated inflection points of HOS and VBR were entirely opposite across the ***,HOS could produce concave H-D curves for portions of the *** on the studied behaviors,the choice between two-parameter models may not *** recommend comparing seve ral three-parameter model forms for consistency in estimated inflection points before deciding on *** sigmoidal models to have inflection points does not necessarily mean that they will produce fitted curves with *** study highlights the need to integrate analysis of inflection points into modeling H-D relationships.

number of different cancer chemotherapy agents such as cisplatin,oxaliplatin,and paclitaxel can lead to nerve damage,thereby giving rise to neuropat.ic pain states that present with mechanical and cold allodynia[1].Although these pain conditions often resolve after completion of the chemotherapy,a significant portion of patients exhibit longlasting pain that can persist longer than 12 months with a negative impact on the quality of life of affected individuals[1].

Advances in discovery of novel investigational agents for functional cure of chronic hepatitis B:A comprehensive review of phases ii and iii therapeutic agents

Chronic hepatitis B virus(HBV)infection affects over 295 million people globally and an estimated 1.6 million people in the United *** is associated with significant morbidity and mortality due to cirrhosis,liver failure,and liver *** therapy with oral nucleos(t.ide analogues is associated with high rates of virologic suppression,which in turn has been associated with a decreased risk of liver ***,current antiviral regimens are limited by concerns with adverse effects,adherence,resistance,long-term treatment,and ongoing risk for liver *** investigational agents are currently in development and are targeted at achieving functional cure with sust.ined hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg)loss and suppression of HBV *** we review key evidence from phases ii and iii t.ials defining the efficacy and safety profiles for key investigational agents for functional cure of chronic hepatitis B,including core/capsid inhibitors,entry inhibitors,RNA interference(siRNA/ASO),HBsAg inhibitors,toll-like receptor agonists,checkpoint.inhibitors,and therapeutic vaccines.

Hypoxic and temporal variation in the endocrine disrupting toxicity of perfluorobutanesulfonate in marine medaka(Oryzias melastigma)

Perfluorobutanesulfonate(PFBS)is an emerging pollutant capable of potently disrupting the sex and thyroid endocrine systems of ***,the hypoxic and temporal variation in PFBS endocrine disrupting toxicity remain largely *** the present study,adult marine medaka were exposed to environmentally realistic concentrations of PFBS(0 and 10μg/L)under normoxia or hypoxia conditions for 7 days,aiming to explore the interactive behavior between PFBS and *** addition,PFBS singular exposure was extended till 21days under normoxia to elucidate the time-course progression in PFBS *** results showed that hypoxia inhibited the growth and caused the suspension of egg spawn regardless of PFBS *** regard to the sex endocrine system,7-day PFBS exposure led to an acute stimulation of transcriptional profiles in females,which,subsequently,recovered after the 21-day *** potency of hypoxia to disturb the sex hormones was much stronger than PFBS.A remarkable increase in estradiol concentration was noted in medaka blood after hypoxia *** in sex endocrinology of coexposed fish were largely determined by hypoxia,which drove the formation of an estrogenic *** further enhanced the endocrine disrupting effects of ***,the hepatic synthesis of vitellogenin and choriogenin,two commonly used sensitive biomarkers of estrogenic activity,failed to initiate in response to the estrogen *** to sex endocrine system,disturbances in thyroidal axis by PFBS or hypoxia were relatively ***,the present findings will advance our toxicological understanding about PFBS pollutant under the interference of hypoxia.

Physics-informed deep learning for fringe pattern analysis

Recently,deep learning has yielded transformative success across optics and photonics,especially in optical *** neural networks (DNNs) with a fully convolutional architecture (e.g.,U-Net and its derivatives) have been widely implemented in an end-to-end manner to accomplish various optical metrology tasks,such as fringe denoising,phase unwrapping,and fringe ***,the task of training a DNN to accurately identify an image-to-image transform from massive input and output data pairs seems at best naive,as the physical laws governing the image formation or other domain expertise pert.ining to the measurement have not yet been fully exploited in current deep learning *** t.is end,we introduce a physics-informed deep learning method for fringe pattern analysis (Pi-FPA) to overcome t.is limit by integrating a lightweight DNN with a learning-enhanced Fourier transform profilometry (Le FtP) *** parameterizing conventional phase ret.ieval methods,the Le FtP module embeds the prior knowledge in the network structure and the loss function to directly provide reliable phase results for new types of samples,while circumventing the requirement of collecting a large amount of high-quality data in supervised learning *** by the initial phase from Le FtP,the phase recovery ability of the lightweight DNN is enhanced to further improve the phase accuracy at a low computational cost compared with existing end-to-end *** results demonstrate that Pi-FPA enables more accurate and computationally efficient single-shot phase ret.ieval,exhibiting its excellent generalization to various unseen objects during *** proposed Pi-FPA presents that challenging issues in optical metrology can be potentially overcome through the synergy of physics-priors-based traditional tools and data-driven learning approaches,opening new avenues to achieve fast and accurate single-shot 3D imaging.

Fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites were widely utilized in civil engineering structures as the retrofit of reinforced concrete (RC) columns. to design FRP jackets safely and economically, the behaviour of such columns should be predicted first. t.is paper is concerned with the analysis and behaviour of FRP-confined RC circular and rectangular short col- umns subjected to eccent.ic loading. A simple design-oriented stress-strain model for FRP-confined concrete in a section analysis was first proposed. the accuracy was then proved by two test data. Following that, a paramet.ic study including amount of FRP confinement, FRP strain capacity, unconfined concrete strength and shape of column section is provided. Some conclusions were obt.ined at the end of the paper. the work here will provide a comprehensive understanding of the behaviour of FRP-confined concrete columns. the simplicity of the model also enables a simple equivalent stress block to be developed for direct use in practical design.

the ability to control mammalian cells such that they self-organize or enact therapeutic effects as desired has incredible *** only would it further our understanding of native processes such as development and the immune response,but.it would also have powerful applications in medical fields such as regenerative medicine and *** control is typically obt.ined by synthetic circuits that use synthetic receptors,but control remains *** synthetic juxtacrine receptors(SJRs)are widely used as they are fully modular and enable spatial control,but they have limited gene expression amplification and temporal *** these are integral facets to cell control,i therefore designed transcription factor based amplifiers that amplify gene expression and enable unidirectional temporal control by prolonging duration of target gene *** a validated in silico framework for SJR signaling,i combined these amplifiers with SJRs and show that these SJR amplifier circuits can direct spatiotemporal patterning and improve the quality of self-organization.i then show that these circuits can improve chimeric antigen receptor(CAR)t cell tumor killing against various heterogenous antigen expression *** amplifiers are flexible tools that.improve control over SJR based circuits with both basic and therapeutic applications.
