Saline intrusion is a hot issue and has always been of concern in the VMD(Vietnamese Mekong Delta),especially in the context of many changes of impact factors such as upstream flows and SLR(Sea Levels Rise).Vulnerability to changes in the upstream flows and SLR ismust-have reasons for updated and interpreted *** information is used for exploiting of soil and water *** 11 model was successfully applied to assess the saline *** study provided the picture of the saline intrusion in the dry season from January to May in the VMD in the existing situation(2015 and 2016)and the future(2030 and 2050)under the impact of flow at Kratie in various frequencies of 18%,50%and 85%based on the time series of 2001-2016,and SLR according to RCP(Representative Concentration Pathway)4.5 scenario of MONRE(Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment)of Vietnam issued in *** results show that in the year 2015 the ASI(Saline Intrusion Area)in the VMD was relatively low due to moderate tidal level and high Kratie discharge(P=18%).The scenario like the situation in 2016 and in the future ASI increased significantly compared to the 2015 baseline scenario which shows that the VMD is very vulnerable to saline *** on multivariate regression analysis,the study also presented the formulas for the relationship between the ASI of 0.25 g/L,2.5 g/L and 4.0 g/L thresholds and the impact factors such as the average discharge at Kratie and the maximum daily tidal level in East Coast during the dry season from January to *** an adjusted R2 at 0.913-0.974,these formulas are believed to be reliable for predicting ASIs based on the Kratie flow and the East Coast tidal level.

Risk factors for fracture in adult kidney transplant recipients

AIM: To determine the general and transplant-specific risk factors for fractures in kidney transplant ***: We conducted a cohort study of all adults who received a kidney-only transplant(n = 2723) in Ontario, Canada between 2002 and 2009. We used multivariable Cox proportional hazards regression to determine general and transplant-specific risk factors for major fractures(proximal humerus, forearm, hip, and clinical vertebral). The final model was established using the backward elimination strategy, selecting risk factors with a P-value ≤ 0.2 and forcing recipient age and sex into the model. We also assessed risk factors for other fracture locations(excluding major fractures, and fractures involving the skull, hands or feet). RESULTS: There were 132 major fractures in the follow-up(8.1 fractures per 1000 person-years). General risk factors associated with a greater risk of major fracture were older recipient age [adjusted hazard ratio(a HR) per 5-year increase 1.11, 95%CI: 1.03-1.19] and female sex(a HR = 1.81, 95%CI: 1.28-2.57). Transplant-specific risk factors associated with a greater risk of fracture included older donor age(5-year increase)(a HR = 1.09, 95%CI: 1.02-1.17) and end-stage renal disease(ESRD) caused by diabetes(a HR = 1.72, 95%CI: 1.09-2.72) or cystic kidney disease(a HR = 1.73, 95%CI: 1.08-2.78)(compared to glomerulonephritis as the reference cause). Risk factors across the two fracture locations were not consistent(major fracture locations vs other). Objective. Familial aggregation of gastric cancer has been linked to familial clustering of Helicobacter pylori infection. Patterns and risk factors associated with H. pylori infection were investigated in 1st degree relatives of Chinese gastric cancer patients. Material and methods. Gastric cancer relatives were invited for screening endoscopy. H. pylori infection was diagnosed by endoscopic and serological methods. Results. Among the 270 cancer relatives examined, 161 (59.6% ) were found to be infected with H. pylori. The prevalence of infection in cancer relatives was significantly higher than age- and gender-matched dyspeptic control (45.5% , p = 0.0006). The mean age of H. pylori-infected relatives was significantly older than that of non-infected relatives (43.9 versus 38.3 years; p 45 years (OR = 1.8; 95% CI, 1.02- 3.3) and a history of gastric cancer in siblings (OR = 1.9; 95% CI, 1.06- 3.3) were independent risk factors for H. pylori infection, and that the youngest sibling in the family had a reduced risk (OR = 0.45; 95% CI, 0.24- 0.84). Conclusions. This study identifies the patterns and risk factors for H. pylori in gastric cancer relatives, which may shed light on the evolving epidemiology of H. pylori infection in Chinese patients.

The study was to determine the appropriate dose and administration route of Ornitin Triple vaccine in cross-breed coloured broilers in Vietnam by evaluating the antibody titer against Ornithobacterium rhinotracheale(ORT)and local reactions at injection sites on chickens after *** study was divided into 2 *** trials were designed with 3 vaccine dose groups:0.0ml(control group),0.25ml and 0.5ml and 2 different administration routes:subcutaneous at neck(SC)and intramuscular at breast(IM)*** result showed that,no statistically significant difference was found between antibody titer of two administration routes as well as 2 vaccine doses until *** reactions at the injection sites of IM route was less severe than SC at neck and in higher dose would produce a more severe swelling *** weight gain was found to have a slight decrease in the vaccinated groups within 2 weeks after vaccination,however,no statistically significant difference was found in later stage(P>0.05).In conclusion,Ornitin Triple can be used to vaccinate by IM with the dose of 0.25ml for coloured broilers at early age(3-week-old),or 0.5ml for older birds and should be careful for some reactions at the injection sites.

Background: To assess the predictive value of prognosis of different computed tomography (CT) features and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score (N IHSS) in acute extensive middle cerebral artery (MCA) infarct. Methods: Fifty fi ve patients with acute extensive MCA infarct had the CT performed within 24 hour s of the onset of symptoms. A total of 11 CT features were analysed. The age dis tribution, presence of risk factors, presence of individual CT feature, the tota l CT score, and the NIHSS were correlated with the 30 day ***: Sin gle explanatory variable analysis showed NIHSS, presence of midline shift, midli ne shift of more than 1 cm, extent of infarct, presence of hydrocephalus, efface ment of subarachnoid space/cella media, attenuation of corticomedullary differen tiation, and total CT score were associated with the 30 day mortality. Both exte nt of infarct >67%and attenuationof corticomedullary differentiation gave a sen sitivity and specificity of 93%and 95%, respectively, for the prediction of su rvival. Logistic regression analysis showed that the extent of infarct and NIHSS were the only independent ***: CT features and admission NIH SS are important parameters for prediction of survival in extensive MCA infarct.
